REVIEWS OF Madison Children's Museum IN Wisconsin

Paul Bodis

Great place to bring the kids and their reciprocation agreements with other museums are great.

Melissa Ply

Nice museum, mostly for younger kids

Ryan Lee

Always a fun time!

Luda Kazachenko

Great hangout for kids!

Cindie Bishop

Such a great place for kids young and old. So much to see and do the kiddos will never be bored... And there's ice cream!!!

Tyler Wrage

I went with my sister, nephew, and brother in law, and everyone had a great time. Anywhere from 1 year olds up to 10 year olds looked like they were having the time of their lives. They change up the exhibits routinely, and the rooftop area was absolutely amazing. This is a must do if you have small children and are in the area.

Nada Abdallah

The perfect place to take your little ones here in Madison. They learn through playing and interacting with other people from different backgrounds and I love such diversity. A good time for you and your little ones to bond and have a quality time. I love the event we attended for Mexican dance and how to teach kids to be future voters. Parents and adults can get to know other people as well. One day is surely not enough for such beautiful place. The proverbs on the walls are so inspiring

Molly Bowser

Pretty great museum. It's better when the weather is nice so there is a little bit more to do. It does get very hot in the building, but there's a lot of energy and bodies so that is to be expected. Lots of fun.

Kaila Katuzny

Great place to take the kids on any day. So much different things they can do and explore with. Great for my 2 year old and 12 year old. Perfect place to spend a rainy day, hot day, cold day, even a nice day. And they arnt expensive either. All around good value and great way for the kids to run off their energy for a all day event.

Amanda Castrovinci M

Lots of fun with a 2.5 year old!

Jason Wilcox

Small but fun for the kids

Jessica Elizabeth Owens

Fun place, not huge, but lots to do. Best suited for 4-6 year olds in my opinion. My daughter likes the playground and the outdoor roof space the best. Their craft area is full of items for free creating.

Aubrie Lenz

If you are looking for an activity the entire family will love. Look no further than the Madison Children's Museum! I don't know who loved it more, myself or my child! The Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit is fascinating, and the large art room on the second floor lodged itself into my creative heart. I only wish this Museum was closer to home so we could visit more regularly.

Bob Bob

Great place to take kids and so much to do in walking disiction

Rebekah Thompson

Visited here with a daycare and loved it. Loads of things for children to do and explore, extremely kid friendly and so many interesting things. Available loved it

Mike Lamberty

Great fun for kids. Very interactive

Patrick Sorg

A safe and fun place to take kids, love it thats an all day pass u can go and leave and come back and it have to pay a second time

Jordyn Pierce

Definitely geared towards younger children I feel, I’m not sure that a child over say 8 would enjoy it much. Price seems a little high for what you get. There are several entire sections of the museum I don’t think I’ve ever seen a child interacting with any time I’ve been that could stand to be changed out. My son at 1 only played with a couple areas. At 2 he really enjoyed 3-4 sections. With little kids still having to go between naps I’m not sure it’s worth $30 for our family to only spend a couple of hours there.

Shannon Hermanson

We were in town from Minneapolis and planned our short vacation trip around this museum. We had visited once previously, in April. I LOVE this museum. Almost everything is made from reclaimed items and it's so cool. There are new things to see or do around every corner. The people who work here are SO cool and thoughtful and nice! I've never had a bad experience with anyone. They also have fun activities planned for kids during the day, too! My older son got to use squeeze bottles to melt frozen "hands" that had bugs inside! We ended up getting a membership because it's cost effective for our family. There's also reciprocity for over 200 children's museums around the country! We'll definitely be back again!

Rum0rzz

Super fun for my sister, and is very interactive in all corners. Arts and crafts was fun to do, and there's even a cafe and large elevator that's big enough to fit a group of 20 people. The rooftop is amazing with animals everywhere. The only problem? The place was very messy in all play areas and cafe tables, and it could become a problem if you don't watch your step. It's fine though, since there's a bunch of children that are the ones that make the messes. There's a bunch of places that your kids can explore, and there's even a place for mothers who are pregnant or have very young babies. It's very quiet, despite being in the middle of a play place. Kids 10 and under (and maybe adults) will love being here.

Robert Seidel

Great exhibits -- the kids had a blast and could have stayed all day!

Pamela Borgen

Our 2 year old grand daughter loved it!

courtney bunderson

The place seemed small for the price we paid. It was extremely crowded which did not help the experience. My 4 year old enjoyed most of it, my 1 year old did not find a whole she could do. The staff was great with the kids and had some neat programs.

Megan Dilley

This place is really awesome. I'd read that there was a lot for 3- to 5-year-olds to do, but I also thought my one-year-old had a ton of fun, especially in the little water garden. I do think being able to stand and crawl is pretty important in order to make the most of the museum, but just watching all the other kids play would be a lot of fun for most infants. Also, if you are a first- time parent, you (and a second adult) get a free membership until baby is 18 mo!

Marcy Rainey

Fun interactive exhibits for children. So much for everyone to see and do.

Melanie Mooney

For the price, unless your kiddos are super little, there isn't a whole lot to do.

Theresa Weibler

Being a member was the best decision I have made for my family. The early learner's play group was a great place to go for my infant to socialize and for me to get out of the house to a safe space for baby. Now that she's a toddler, it's her favorite place to explore. The water play space is her favorite. Every time we go, we find something new to explore.

Greg Eggold

Fabulous kids museum. Our 5-year-old grandson had a great time. He really like the arts and crafts area.

Katie Grace

We had a splendid time at the children's museum. We have kids range from 1-6 that found something fun for each one of them. My only suggestion would be to change the cloth doll craft in the art area. That was a bust. Even the girl working there did not provide much help. After 15 minutes, she suggested we start over...

cupcake girl

We visited the children's museum in Madison spent $36 for entrance fees then left after 15 minutes. A complete waste of money this place is not for intelligent 10 year olds for toddlers yes. We would never advise anyone to visit this place a disaster we are being nice by giving 2 stars.

Joey B

Great exhibits and kind staff. Recommended for hours of fun with the kids!

Shaun Mooney

Might be good if your child is 5. Ours is 8 and it was a waste of time and money. Did the capitol building tour after and enjoyed it much more.

Garett Kieler

Really great place to explore and experience with children!

Brian Olson

Lots of things to do for kids. Parking is a little pricey but worth it overall.

ᗪOᗯᑎTOᗯᑎ ᗪᗩᗪ

The Children's museum is pretty awesome for families with kids from about 2-8 plus or minus. Many activities to keep the kids entertained and curious for hours. One visit won't be enough. Best to get the membership and visit a lot. Patrons are mostly a considerate and respectful bunch. Highly recommended.

Nicole Piskula

My kids are 1, 2 and 7. There is enough to do for each of these ages. We enjoy going.

David Farmbrough

Great place for adults and children alike. Deceptively spacious, in spite of its central location. Lots of different activities involving different educational disciplines. Our favourite part was the roof top garden with all the birds.

Andrew French

Really great place diverse opportunities for kids to build, create, make connections.

Daniel Zinn

Awesome place for the kids to hang out on a rainy, snowy, or just very hot day.

Josh Turner

My kids love it here but in a few years they will out grow it. It is really geared towards the younger ones. The roof top views are stunning and the log cabin was a lot of fun. The second floor was where we spent most of our time. Making (fake) pies and pizzas or building with giant blocks or climbing the ropes and tunnels can occupy a kid for hours. Worth the price of admission.

Giselbert Parkhurst

What a wonderful museum! We could have spent days playing in the art room on the second floor. The rooftop garden and greenhouse was a blast - I wish we had allotted more time to spend up there. The staff was so amazing, polite and eager to please. They took animals out for my kids to touch and taught us all a little bit about them.

Meridith McCann

Really awesome museum with fun for every age. My whole family had a blast!

Dinh Le

Great place for kids and adults.

Ried Baker

Very nice facility. A lot of cool stuff for kids of all ages to do.

Carol Mori

MCM is great for kids and adults. My kids loved it when they went there for school field trips and with friends. My husband and I have both held convention events at MCM and the adults really got into all the fun things available to do. After all, when was the last time you ran in a hamster wheel, finger painted on the wall and played PacMan?

Elizabeth Weber

It was so much fun. Great activities for the whole family.

Jose Hernandez-Aponte

The kids had an awesome time. Great staff.

Mike Lieb

Really awesome place to enjoy the afternoon whether you are a young one or older adult! Interactive learning and unique exhibits provide the perfect environment for anybody who wants to get a little more out of their family activities.

missy phillips

Great place for a rainy day! Best fitted for kids under 10. There is a water exhibit which can get messy so an extra set of clothes might be needed for the younger kids (under 3). There are smocks, but they do little for the tiny explores. We go a few times a year and always have a good time!

Christina Loftus

Really nice. Very secure. Very impressed!

Tasha Harmon

Fun place for both kids and adults

Ben Steensland

Always a good time with the kiddos here. Lots of interesting things to explore

Reed Taylor

Small but unique and thoughtful. Definitely paid off to visit with our 4 year old!

Analucia Allie

My grandson and I have a wonderful time together when we go play at The Children's museum. This magical place also has Amazing pizza and the best macaroni and cheese!

Carol Lai

Really fun. A great place to learn and play.

Michael Smiley

Such an amizing time. We went with the people from early head start. If you need something to do with the kids and you are on I believe badger care or uhc you can get in free with your kid, kids an yourself.

joe blow

Great fun for the kiddos. Do yourself a favor and get a year long family membership. It will save you a lot of money.

Kim Ranum

It's OK, it's a good place for about ages 5&under..

Tziporah Mazer

AMAZING! This was the best part of our trip to Madison. I loved the 5 and under room, and so did my 2 yr old.

Cinda Boo

I was expecting more but it wasn't terrible. My kiddo liked the slide and the water room the best

Amanda Carstensen

Very inexpensive place to have a ton of fun with your family

Brian Kopala

Fun museum! A bit smaller than one would expect, but my daughter had a great time playing there for the day. Definitely worth a visit when in Mad City!

Alex Butler

Fun for the whole family!

RosaMae Rose

This was our first time at the museum but won't be our last. This is a fun place to visit and even I was entertained. We ran around the younger kids area, playing with babies, gardening, hanging up clothes on the clothesline. The kids loved the crazy climbing area and the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired area. They were also really into the "hidden worlds." The outdoor areas were great if you don't mind heights. My 4 kids, ages 6 to 13, all want to go back despite long drive to there. I am glad we got a pass.

samantha RaeLee

This is a great place to spend free time with the young ones!! Especially in the winter when playgrounds just aren't possible! They usually have some type of organized art project on the weekends, from around 10-12 I believe. They actually just closed down recently, for nearly 2 weeks, for "deep cleaning", so if I had to rate the cleanliness, it's an A+++, 10/10 ☆'s!! There really is enough stuff to do there, that spending a whole half a day playing, isn't hard to do!! *****Also, for low income households, you just have to ask for admission for how many ppl u have, for a family with a food card, and you'll get admission at a highly discounted rate, it's like $1.75 per person instead of around $10!*****

Megan Lloyd

Great variety of exhibits for a wide range of ages. Love the natural elements motif in their decorating, too. How exotic for a kid to walk along a giant spine through th curving rib cage? And the little hidden climbing elements scattered throughout we're always fun to find. We even got to see a snake eat a mouse. For the packs of little kids present it was about the coolest thing they could have asked for that day. Great job, Madison!

Vanessa Sue

Such a great place to let my toddler explore. She loved it. Hope to go back soon and often. Clean and all the staff I came into contact with were all very nice.

Adam Perkins

Lots to do and lots to learn. Very Cool place.

Lance Cummins-Brown

The Madison Childrens Museum has a wonderful atmosphere filled with joyus and eager helpers. The activites were hands on and interactive with an innovative twist. There were fresh new exibits each time we have been and went over well with the kids. It was a very plesent experence as a whole.

Kristy Ellen

Adorable for those with small children.

noah gessler

Get fun for all ages

Gabriel Subero

Love this museum. Its clean and super fun for the kids. There are multiple activities to choose from. Well organized and flows smoothly when walking around.

Megan S

Great for the whole family definitely a busy place on weekends.

Travis A.C.

Awesome place for kids my 3 year old visits weekly and loves it Everytime, Lots to do!

Ryan

A fun place to burn 3-4 jots

Maria Velez

I got to visit here because of a school field trip and had tons of fun with daughter.

C Cc

More educational than a lot of other children's museums

Melanie Schmitt

They have had the same exhibits for the last 3 years. I expect more out of a children’s museum in a community this large. The exhibits are quite disappointing for the most part.

Galen Burghardt

Super fun place! Great climbing thing, a lot of fun art and tactile stuff. Recently took our 4 year old and 1 year old, and it's hard to say which one had a better time! Don't forget the garden on the roof!

Lamont Gittens

Kids had a blast, so many things to do for all ages.

Mark Straubhaar

Great place for the kids! Many fun activities.

Jose Miguel Perez Castillo

A children's museum is always a promise to the future. A promise to care about knowledge and teaching to the new generation. A new generation that understands quite different than one could want, and so, that is the challenge, to keep knowledge fresh so it doesn't fossilized into oblivion. Great place.

Briant Novinska

My wife and I love the children's musuem. Adult Swim events are a must do!

Pınar Mercan

Nice place to keep the kids entertained. A little overpriced, considering the range of activities. There is a nice rooftop activity venue, which is easily missed if you are not careful, needs more signs to direct people to elevators to the roof.

Jared Erickson

Just walking into the place ramped up the kids level of excitement. A stunning variety of different things for the kids to do on several different floors, from a custom built play and slide area to arts and crafts stations. There is a small cafe with just okay coffee and other drinks available. The staff was friendly and patient. Overall a good place for the kids to visit and have a fun afternoon.

Brenda Lovick

My kids always have a great time here.

Melissa Cox

Went as a kid and then took my daughter there with my mom while looking for Bucky badgers and my daughter had an amazing time. A little bit pricy but was worth it. A lot has changed from when I was a kid going there to what they have now it also has expanded out doors. Endless hours of fun couldn't get her away from all the water play. Each spot or level was grouped to certain ages but was also for everyone.

Rick Lentz

A must visit stop with tiny people.

kari hailey

Disappointed they are closed mondays.

michael hanamann

Great place to let the little ones use up some energy!

Andy Rice

My grandchildren loved their time there by and we plan to return next month when we vidit WI again with the grands.

Renee Taylor

The rooftop event held here at night was beautiful

Cheryl Smithem

An excellent Children's Museum. Such a wide variety of activities to suit every age from toddler 2 young teen. I was really impressed with the variety and diversity. The art area alone is amazing. There's a wall where children can paint with washable paint. And they had all kinds of activities set out on tables. The toddler area includes both of home play area and several cozy places to tuck up and look at books. The water table is a Wonderland for toddlers. Just be sure your toddler has on one of the aprons.

HerezMyCard

Small but we had a lot of fun here!

Dave Pagel

If you have kids, this place will get recommended to you, and for a reason. Things to keep in mind: it is downtown so you'll have to pay for parking. If you have a membership to another children's museum and have a red R on the back of the card, you get a heavy discount. There isn't much for climbers here. There's a dragon like climber for bigger kids, but that's about it. A 5 yr and younger play area is there as well. A lot of activities are more logical (blocks and puzzles) and artsy (Lego wall and painting on glass), so if your kid is into those type of things, they will have a blast. There's also the greatest fountain ever that shoots balls into a water tornado. We spent like 15 minutes watching that.

Linda Kitzman

We went on Saturday and had so much fun. I reccomend to Everyone. More fun than you know.

Jenny Dale

It seems like there used to be more fun things to do for the kids. The art area looked so fun but they had a party before we got there and all the supplies were empty or spilled over and the kids couldnt found anything to do

Andrew Nyland

Family membership is great especially if you go to other museum often times there are discounts at other children's museums and science discovery centers. Birthday party here is not recommend. "Party host" was missing the entire party.

Christina Baurichter

Employees were so polite. Got there only a half hour before close, but by my kids (11 and 2) had an amazing experience. It was a great rest stop on our long travels for the day. Was able to park close and they had a military discount at the time. Great experience.

Lizz Epp

I went for the "Adult Swim" fundraiser. It is fun to be a kid again for an evening, play with all of the toys, and do arts and crafts!

Alicia Nitka

Fun and safe place for family fun

Nancy Kavazanjian

Fun arts & crafts & lots to do

Aisha A. Tahir

5 and 3 year old had a lot of fun.

Kelvin

Great museum. My son enjoys visiting, there are always lots of activities for him to do.

Jessica Henry

Great place to bring your kids! Especially fun for kids age 2-5

Tylor Wendt

Things don't change in the children's museum much in Madison but it is pretty entertaining. Good for a few hours of fun a week.

Barbara Novick

Great place to take kids or grandkids.

Alivia Encizo

Super fun. Kids wanted to stay all day! If you take the stairs up to the second floor, the kids have an option of going up a climbing tunnel. A lot of fun things to discover.

Jennifer Shaiman

A little smaller than I anticipated, but it was also not as expensive as some of the larger children's musueums we've been to. We were only there 2 hours and saw almost everything. But the exhibits were fun for the kids (6 and 10) and sparked imaginative play.

Leslie Eshelby

I have taken my grandkids here several times and they absolutely loved it. There always seems to be something going on here, in addition to all the fun things there are to do on a regular basis. This is one giant playset with lots of learning toys and exhibits where kids can play and learn at the same time. The rooftop garden also features a lookout area, chickens and other small animals. One time we were there they were hatching baby chicks and explaining the process to the children, who were also encouraged to hold and gently touch the chicks. There is also a large play area with huge pre-formed trees, hollowed out with nooks and hiding places with benches and books, climbing ladders, slides, and bridges

Joe Platz

Always a lot of fun for the family and kids

Corinna Zennig

It's less a museum more a playground. As an indoor playground it's pretty neat. Crafting and drawing area, puzzles, building, climbing, farm reenacting area etc. Cafeteria on the ground floor. Lockers available. First time parents get a free pass!

Michael Rappold

I really liked it my grand kids really liked it and they learned stuff while having fun I would go there again with my grand kids and here's some pictures of the diary pages

Patrícia Malico Alexandre

Amazing place for kids on a winter day! If your child has too much energy and the weather is not good to be outside, this is the place to go. They offer a ton of activities for all ages. We love it!

Patrick Schommer

Great interactive exhibits geared mostly toward younger kids (<10-12?). A few of them were in need of repair, but on the whole it was a great visit.

Alyssa Jade

Great place for young kids

L Sandoval

It was ok. The building looks huge from the outside but only half the building is the museum.. the other half is blocked off for employees. Figure once the kids get bored we can take them across the street to bay beach (which is amazing)

Bethany Kolander

Many things to do and see. Homing pigeons free to leave, featured activities such as Virtual Reality, pretend pizza making and baking, giant pong, painting, shadow room, a creative space to make anything you can come up with, use a pulley system and the big cow will jump over the moon!..

eric ng

It is a lot fun for kids but it is not bigger than children museum in Chicago

Jenny Gattie

Was not fun for my kids at all. Not very much to do and it was for kids 5 and under. Won't go again.

Lillian Kan

lt's suitable for little kids.

Jenny K

A great place for children and adults. They always have cool exhibits and activities going on!

Ryan Nevin

This is a pretty good musuem, they have a really nice play area in the lower level. The biggest downside is that there is only one elevator, so it can be cumbersome if you have a child/baby that needs a stroller. There isn't much on the roof, but it's nice they have a garden and little pool area.

Kevin DeCoux

This place is pretty small, but they do a lot with the space. Our little one has enjoyed checking this place out. Probably better for 3 or 4 year olds and up.

Jose Smith

This is probably the most hands-on museum I have seen, so the kids will find plenty to entertain and teach them. There is both whimsy and artistry in all aspects of the design which will delight the adults as well. They had to kick us out at the end of the day.

Laura K

This was amazing! The kids loved it and my husband and I were entertained as well! Parking ramp right across the street as well.

Amy Hladilek

Plenty for kids of all ages! Great water area to play in with hands for kids. Fun playground area! The rooftop was a cool feature as well.

Tanya Weger

Playing and learning environment great for the entire family.

Maggi ES

Love this children's museum. So much to do and see!

E Walled

I just wish I could rent out the whole place. I like kids but only mine lol

Luke Chitwood

So thoughtfully designed and welcoming! Our entire family had a fantastic time exploring.

Mama Firefly

Wonderful place! Well worth the afternoon!

Kimberly Dobratz

We had tons of fun here! They had this really cool climbing piece that went up 3 stories, granddaughter loved it! There were things to do for toddlers up to older children. The roof top was very cool! And they have an original log home!

Carrie Mess

Growing up in Madison, a trip to the Children's Museum was always a favorite. Now as a mom myself, I love taking my boys and exploring the new space. There is so much to do here and is great for kids of all ages.

Steven Rhines

Always tons of fun for my 3 year old.

Kate Schaafsma

Fun time for the kids, excellent way to burn some energy.

Eric Mohr

Nice little gem in the heart of Madison. A little bit for all ages to do, but it really shines for 3-10 year old range. Was quite busy on a Sunday afternoon, but since it was a rainy/cloudy day..that was to be expected. Admission prices are very reasonable as is the family pass if you live in the area and will go a few times a year.

Branden Walrath

Awesome environment for children and adults! Kids had an awesome time and learning experience. Very Friendly staff and very hands on! Highly recommended! 10

Whitney Lockhart

It's always bustling with kids. They offer a wide variety of activities for kids of all interests.

Sarah Gibson

Wonderful for children of all ages! Such a great way to spend the day with family. They are always changing and adding new things. We just love coming and spending time together engaged in imaginary play, arts& crafts creativity, science, and learning about animals!

Rosie Baataoui

My kids love it

Vegeta God

It was great for my kids will go again

katie

First trip to the children's museum since the remodel, and even with the rooftop closed for maintenance there was more than enough to keep my toddler busy for 2 hours. It was a bit loud with a couple school groups visiting, but we cant wait to go back!

Andrew Lueck

Great place for the kiddo to burn off some energy outside of the house.

Cole Lynda

Cute small museum. My 7 year old enjoyed himself but is getting to the point where it may be a bit young for him. The have cool exhibits and plenty of interactive activities.

Peter Kiptoo

Great place for kids to learn although it can get really crowded at times

Scott Macek

Loved our visit. Rooftop is AWESOME!

Steve Morgan

Really fun space that engages the kids but also keeps the parents (or grandparents) interested. Really enjoyed our visit.

Benjamin W. Worgull

Tons of interactive, climbing and coloring areas for kids ... even a pinball machine on the second floor for adults. Top floor is outdoors with room to run, see great views of the city and interact with the fish, rabbits and chickens the museum takes care of. On the first Wednesday of every month, there is free admission in the evenings

Autumn Hammond

So much fun! The kids could "vote" on the museum's next exhibit and it taught them how our voting system works! The tree trunk slide was so cool. And the stair wells were amazing! The garden on the rooftop was beautiful. Please, go!

nicolas puig

Great place for kids and adults

James Worth

This is an amazing place. Took my 8 and 10 year old kids here. Both thought it was fantastic and was interesting for adults as well. Really interactive, and educational as well as fun. Has a basic cafe to get drinks and snacks. Big surprise was the roof garden and small reptile / fish collection on the roof. Even the stairwell has a climbing frame up through middle for kids.

Beth Ann

So much to do. Check out the craft room. I made a wind chime. Included in the cost of entry. They have pinballl!

Jesse Sole

Can get silly crowded... But great place for a toddler

Tyler Swenson

My nieces loved this place

Danielle Glut

There is always something new to do in the craft area, plenty of events, friendly staff, and discounts for families who receive assistance! We have a membership and love having this as an option with our 1 yean old and 4 year old.

Christine Jameson

So inventive. Free open space to imagine, explore. As adult, reminders of the fun simple times, gets your creative mind flowing again. Great staff, clean, friendly.

Chelsea Wiggleswoth

Enjoyed this very much with my family. There was a ton of things to do and entertaining for all. My kids ages ranges from 11- 4. Also very friendly for autistic children. My son enjoyed the sensory items.
