It is a one room school. They charge $2 for an adult to receive a presentation. The lady we had was wonderful! She geared the presentation, which wasn't only about the Birthplace of the GOP, to my 6 & 8 year old. They were totally into it and learned a lot! I've read some of the other reviews. Those that listed poorly I doubt if they have even visited the place. My son had to go to the bathroom. We had to walk next door to a bank and use the bathroom there...no problems, clean, and workers were welcoming and understood why we were there.

So much history here. Over 100 old. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Well worth the visit.

Only takes about 15 minutes to walk through but in that 15 minutes you can learn how far republicans have fallen from where they started. I'd recommend a visit to anyone

A tour is available if you want it. Doesn't require a lot of time to see everything there. Worth seeing if you are interested in the origins of the Republican party.

@David br - You are right but Ripon is where they met before they called themselves Republicans not after. Feb 1854 is before July 1854...

Little White School House is free to visit. Very interesting information about Ripons' history and the founders of the area and Republican party. Free off street parking. Easy to find location. Located in Ripons historic and thriving downtown. Building is restored in and out as modern as an old school house can be. Parking lot and landscaping could use maintenance.

Poor service made the experience less than I'd hoped. Also, menu items did not come as described. Things like "the free market" and "capitalism" were less than I had hoped. Finally, the bathrooms were a disgrace. Really, shamefully filthy.

Exactly what the title says, it is a Little White School House. Home of the organizing gathering of the Republican party in the USA, it is a miniature museum, repository, learning center and a landmark in Ripon, WI. Worth a drive by and a visit (if it is open), if nothing else for a reflection on the part that this location played in the US history.

The first Republicans were voted into office in Michigan, not Wisconsin. Visit Jackson Michigan if you want to see the TRUE birthplace of the Republican Party.

Very interesting and informative place. Stopped here while passing through the town. We were the only family in the school house at the time and was given a tour of the place. The guide was very knowledgeable and had many stories to tell. The tour went over the founding of the party, important people that contributed to the founding, and the president Abraham Lincoln. This is about a 25 minute to 45 minute experience.
