This is a truly amazing museum, and it's free! They have a kind and helpful staff, and amazing collection of art, as well as visiting exhibits. Also, on the lower level, they have a kids craft and workshop area where kids were able to try to replicate some of the pieces of art that they had seen.

A stunning sculpture garden surrounds the multi-storied building. The interior is bright, clean and beautiful in its simplicity. There was an artist q&a and demonstration, along with some of his work for sale. There is a dedicated section for children to create and learn as well. We didn't have time to explore the gift shop sadly.

My first time visiting. I loved The Rarely Seen exhibit and the student exhibition. I am always blown away by artistic talent like that. Also seems a great place to take my nieces and nephew. Can walk them through to apprrciate the art upstairs and then enjoy the kids' area downstairs where they have hands on experiences.

Very modern and nice facility. However, the lower and upper floors are closed off so there are only two exhibits and the sculptures. The recycled exhibit was very cool. Think they should utilize their space better.

All the art in the fabulous mansion references birds. There is a lovely sculpture garden. The new addition is right in character with the old building, which still retains some of the room flow indoors. And the whole thing is free. Worth a visit when you are in Wausau.

Birds in Art is the current exhibition. What beautiful original art from all around the world. Plus strolling the outside gardens during the fall is very relaxing. Great way to spend an afternoon. Plus it's free! Donations are accepted but required.

This is one of the best place to see art in Wisconsin. I have been coming here for years. I was 9 years old or so when I came here for school. It's just a great place to go for everyone. The grounds are so nice anytime of year. Just go and see.

Always have a great time here.Exhibits are always changing and very well thought out. There is a children's area, with activities and books; based on the current exhibit.When the weather permits. There is a statue garden to walk thru. I have included pictures from their latest exhibit "Tiffany Lamps". Pay what you can the museum runs on donations. Even when a particular exhibit is not to my taste I still have a great time. Highly recommend this Art Museum!!!

Wonderful place to visit, plus its FREE! It is pretty much all birds, but the art is cool to admire. My favorite part was the metal figures in the surrounding greenery. Nice place to pass time. Not exciting for children if you plan to take them here, unless you spend time in the basement right away as there is a little kid zone.

Oh I can't say enough about this museum!!!! If you like art and if your kids enjoy creating things then this is a place for you! There's a section in the basement purely for kids with little tables for them to create things pertaining to the exhibit they are showing. Or they can go over and play and enjoy stuff that is also pertaining to the exhibit upstairs. They have an outside area that you can walk through with sculptures. The exhibits change over a course of time and they display something new. If you plan ahead of time they will prepare a tour for you with a Docent and have a craft at the end. Or you can wander through it @ your leisure. And the best part is it's all FREE!

It's very nice and has that small town yet upscale feel to it. Went there for the MC Escher exhibit. The staff were helpful yet not bothersome. Spent about an hour and a half there. Outside has a small park like area with metal sculptures. All in all it was better than I thought it was going to be

Beautiful building with unique exhibits that are always changing. There is a spot to put coats and umbrellas and a kids art area to play and learn to make their own art. They also have a beautiful outdoor exhibit area that is slowly growing. The staff are always helpful and kind. It is free, although they do accept donations.

Gorgeous buildings and grounds. Birds in Art a beautiful representation of the wonder of nature in flight. All art forms represented and I would have loved to purchase a number of the pieces. Have never visited here before, and it did not dissappoint! I especially enjoyed the lower lever children's area and the room where artists in residence penned notes and sketches from their week's experience.

This museum/gallery is a complete class act. Not only are they known nationally for their famous "Bird in Art" exhibit, but they also have an interesting history having been born of local lumber barrons. The museum itself is extremely well kept and clean. They have incorporated self guided technology walkthroughs on Iphone tablets so you can give yourself a tour if you would like. Leigh Yawkey has brought in some amazing exhibits from around the country as well as flying in the artists from around the world so you can meet them and even have dinner with them should you choose to do so. This gallery is a must-see if visiting Wausau and they are kid friendly. I am surprised to see something of this caliber in such a small town. Great fun and history.

This place is my favorite in Wausau and is definitely worth checking out if you only have a little bit of time in Wausau, especially since it's free. As a fan of modern, post-modern, and all types of unique art, the exhibits often rival those I see at top museums in big cities. The free artist talks are always fascinating and the sculpture garden is definitely worth checking out as well.
