REVIEWS OF Lakefront Brewery IN Wisconsin

Ian was an excellent tour guide. Best brewery tour I have experienced

Justin Couch

Great beer and great people. They’re all passionate about beer, food, and your experience. Such a great setup of real, genuine enthusiasm for what goes on. Plus, the BEST cheese curds and pot roast poutine in all of Milwaukee. I can’t stop coming back!

Jonathan

Definitely take the tour and volunteer/participate as much as possible (chances for extra beer tokens). The beer is quite good. I got to be the “bung queen” which was an interesting experience!

Theresa Dargis

Great beers and a beautiful location. Their Hazy Rabbit IPA and Gose with lime are my favorites and their cheese curds are one of the best things I've even had!

B Mac

A must-stop when visiting. Great beer selection and best cheese curds in town.

Jennifer Winkelman

Went for fish fry and tour but got there late. Will be back tomorrow for the tour. Fish fry was good, got the platter with cod perch and shrimp. I will definitely pass on the perch next time. Cod was good, shrimp were excellent. Potato pancakes are good as well. Coleslaw had an orange flavor I wasn't super excited about but others found it good. The beer hall is beautiful and I can't wait to try more of the menu. They are probably my favorite wisconsin brewery so the beers never disappoint.

Paige Greene

Beer was good. Josh the tour guide not so much. I signed up for a brewery tour and was annoyed as soon as I realized that josh the tour guide was going to use the brewery tour as an opportunity to try out his latest comedy (he explained he was a comedian). As someone who enjoys tours like this to actually learn about how beer is made and the history of the brewery I feel like I got more of an amateur comedy hour with really bad and immature sex jokes than a brewery tour. The joke to information ratio was like 5:1 and that was annoying. I’m sure Josh will probably use this review in some upcoming comedy set and call me some smattering of names and joke about how unfun I am but I’m just telling it like it is. The beer is delicious but the tour was bad news bears.

James Wolf

This place as has the goods when it comes to food and beer. Cheese curds are the best or in the conversation for the best in the city. A nice selection of beer types, some good weekly specials and a nice view. Trying to get a spot to sit can be a pain if you are with a group so be aware of that.

Bruce Lawson

A couple of years ago, we went for the brewery tour. Had a fantastic time. This time around we went for a Friday fish fry. WOW! I can't put it into words. First, great beer. Had their "coffee stout", so good. There was a wait for a table, but they have really good beer here. It wasn't just fish on the menu. It's a bar menu. You sit family style, get to meet other people. There is live music, dancing, and a patio on the Milwaukee river. A great experience. We were tourists in our own town.

Star Gaze

Great beer and great food! Take the brewery tour, it's inexpensive, fun, and they give you beer to drink as well as a beer glass.

Christina Rowland

Great Brewery to visit when you are in Milwaukee. The tour was great and offered numerous samples of their beer with the tour ticket. Also, a nice spot to play cornhole along the water.

Mariangel Rodríguez

When it comes to value this place is top notch. The tours are inexpensive and it includes 32 oz of free beer and a free glass. Very nice atmosphere as well.

Sweatbucket

Great deal for a tour, 4 cups of beer, and a glass at the end. Our guide Tony was great and pretty chill! At the end we also got food, the fried cheese curds (half off) were really tasty, along with the buffalo (I think it's Frank Red Hot sauce) chicken salad and 3 sausage plate (enjoyed the Italian sausage). Definitely worth it for a small something to do.

Beck Frame

Service was great, beer and food. . . not so much. I'm not gluten free but tried the pilsner that is gluten free because I like pilsners. It was oddly sweet and tasted like sugar had been added to it. This might be something singular to this beer alone, I tried another that a friend had and it wasn't that good either. We ordered the pils bread which was amazing. . .until the second bit which was raw. .. It was so busy, and only two dollars, so I didn't let anyone know. The pretzel was pretty generic but the mustard and cheese that went with it were AMAZING. Just not really what I expected overall but i'm sure in the future I'll be able to give more stars!

Matt Veronie

Awesome brewery tour. If you can swing it, take the tour with Ben. Informative, extremely entertaining, plus beer.

Andrew Xue

you GOTTA do the tour here!! It's such a good deal with the drink tickets you get

Julie Calabrese

RUDE staff. We have a service dog and upon asking a question about the beer the staff behind the bar rolled their eyes and let out an exasperated sigh. Asking us twice about the service animal Like we were creating a huge problem. The way we were treated by the staff left a sour taste in my mouth. On that note the gose was pretty decent. Ok variety of beers both draft and bottles. I would have known more if the staff was willing to give us their time. We also had their cheese curds. Puffy pillows of lightly fried cheese never hurts. Inconsistent cheese, they were meh. Outdoor patio was beautiful and as we were leaving there was a sign “dog friendly patio” haha oh the irony.

Kasey Hodges

Beer menu is small, however it was pretty good. We tried the amber, house lager and maibock. The food was okay. We started with a pretzel, loved the raspberry mustard and cheese spread. Dinner was the iffy part... I ordered buffalo chicken mac n cheese. It came without the chicken and when I asked the server why there was no chicken on it he says, "uh, I dont know if we do that on fridays..." wth- what kind of answer is that?!... it's in the description of what I ordered. My husband ordered the pulled pork mac n cheese & asked for bbq on the side and guess what the server replies with... "uh, I dont know if we do that on fridays... but we have bbq packets". Humm, when our friends pulled pork sandwich came out, guess what was on it.... bbq sauce!! Yet my husband was given a packet of bbq. The server really didn't know the menu... if you come in a large party, bring cash because they will not split the bill. This place did not leave a good first impression

Lady Torres

Friendly staff, delicious food, great tasting beer, beautiful brewery. I went on a date with husband to celebrate our anniversary. We took the tour and ate there afterwards. Awesome vegan tacos!

Leigh Anne Darneal

A great place to experience in Milwaukee! You can tour the brewery or just go an have a drink and/or food. Try the cheese curds-you won’t be disappointed!! Beer is very good as well. There is a nice area to sit outside and eat along the water

Jordan Lowry

This place is great. This was my first experience on a brewery tour with my girlfriend and we had a blast. Great atmosphere to drink, meet people and learn a little bit in the process! I would highly recommend this place to others who are 21+ and looking for things to do in the Milwaukee area!

Steve Brown

Beer is subpar and the ‘free’ pint is only the ‘day of’....the cheese curds are on point a

Linda Cokinis

I dont care for beer but was a very short tour. The tour guide was funny!

Aaron Miller

Had a good time here. The Tour guide was very enthusiastic the beer was great. You even get free tokens to try beers before or after the Tour. Highly recommend this place

Bruce Weisbein, D.C.

The brewery tour was fun and a great value. Great food and atmosphere, too!

Kathryn Spingola

We did the brew tour and Adam was our guide. Hilarious and knowledgeable! Their beer is awesome and the curds delish. I’d go back in a heartbeat

Elisa Lücke

We had a great day at the brewery and a really funny guidance.

Patrick Wilson

Excellent beer hall. Large and high ceilinged with long tables and family style seating. The Friday fish fry is excellent! The deep fried cheese curds are to die for. They have a polka band that plays, and of course excellent beer. They also use compostable cups and straws which is a big deal to us.

Corey Graham

We went on the tour, Kyle "Battle", was our tour guide, extremely entertaining and knowledgeable about the beers offered, the history of beer and the company. Well worth the tour! The cheese curds were fantastic as well. Would definitely revist!

Wayne Stratbucker

Lakefront Brewery is an amazing place. Whether you’re looking for beer, food, or a top ranked tour, Lakefront knocks it out of the park. Every time I have anyone visiting from out of town our first stop is Lakefront. Strongly recommend to everyone living or visiting Milwaukee.

Justin W

Very cool tour, great inside and outside space along the water. Fantastic food and beer. Definitely a must visit.

Yorgo Latimer

This brewery obviously believes in hosting a fun environment, from the 3 Stooges out front to the events (heard the tour is also a lot of laughs but didn't make it in time). The night we went was Drag Bingo night. We didn't stay for it as we were trying to catch up with an old friend and couldn't talk comfortably but there are different events each night of the week and all of them looked like a lot of fun. (this place is near the University but had an eclectic group of patrons). The atmosphere is beautiful, the bartenders knowledgeable and happily provided a few options for me to taste when I was having trouble making my selection, all 3 I tried were really good but the bartenders pick for me was my favorite so feel free to give them an idea of the types of beers you like (I was looking for a pilsner, kolsch or light lager).

Trent Nutter

What a great spot. The brew tour was amazing with Gilmore. Overall a great spot with great beers. The tours were the best part. The guy did a great job.

Vincent Moua

A fantastic piece of recent Milwaukee history. The tour was fun and informative. The prices are very reasonable. The food is pretty good. Plenty of delicious and interesting beers to try out. What more could you ask for?

Fred Lechuga

Wow, I can't say enough about this place. So many great tasting beers to pick from. We are from the Chicago suburbs but we will be back to enjoy more of their options. Plus their food menu was impressive for a Brewery. They even had vegetarian options and they are good too like soy rizo tacos. I had the wife and kid with me and they said they would like to go back for another visit. Happy wife, happy life. Definitely want to visit and do the tour next time.

Simon Carlson

I love the German Beer Hall feel of this place. We went on the tour and had a great time! Definitely worth checking out!

Andrew Barbel

They definitely earned their awards for best curds! Sandwich menu is great for a lunch or dinner stop. Awesome beers from a Milwaukee classic. In an old industrial building, this place captures the feeling of an old drinking hall from days of yore. Plenty of different styles of beer to sample while you chat with all you best buddies or new acquaintances.

Keith Walton

We enjoyed the atmosphere on the back deck overlooking the river. We'd suggest doing the brewery tour and redeeming the tokens for beer or gifts. Not familiar with the beer brands but they were all pretty good.

Luiz Gustavo

We wanted to see a Milwaukee brewery, and because it was closer we decided to go here instead of Millers, and what a great choice. First of all, the beer is great, and we tried quite a few of them (Fixed Gear being my favorite), and then we went on a tour with Omega Sunshine, and what a blast. It was 30 minutes of information and jokes, it was amazing. Also, the value is great. For only 9 bucks, we got a great tour, 4 beers, and one extra somewhere else that served their beers. What a value!

Hollie Grafton

Had lunch and took a tour on a Saturday. It was awesome. Great staff. Nolan was thee best tour guide ever. My husband and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. Definitely book your tour beforehand. It gets busy quite quickly.

Giselbert Parkhurst

More like Riverfront Brewery, as we showed up on our kayak rentals. First thing I appreciated was the dock that was set aside for kayakers to dock. It was labeled as only being for kayaks but the newer Paddle Tavern Boats were ignoring that and parking their boats there as well. I don't know that Lakefront will enforce it, considering they're bringing large groups of people to spend money there.

Naomi Lin

Great place, good vibe and friendly staff! Enjoyed the tour given by Weston who odviously loved his job and the art of brewing beer! #iamthebungqueen

Αντώνιος Πάσχαμυλωνάς-Ecord

Excellent atmosphere inside and out. The golden root beer is awesome as are the cheese curds. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Sat out on the outdoor patio and it was very nice. The cover kept the sun off is while we enjoyed the view of the river.

Wyatt Higbee

Wow, Great Fish Fry and Music and a Friday Night. The food and service were both excellent. The entertainment was good also. I really enjoyed their beer!

Kavita Baluni

I have been to this place under untapped tour... I have tried very famous Eastside dark beer, very rich and smooth. The lady associated with our group tour was very informative and provided the history of Lakefront brewery. And our group got a chance to taste there another very famous cherry beer. Overall it was a great experience, would like to go there again personally..

Kristin Glaviano

Great experience. The tour is a must. For a $11 you get 4 beers and an amazingly informative yet entertaining tour. Our guide Greta was funny and really kept the group engaged while breaking down the whole process. There is a beer stop during the tour which was great. At the end of the tour you can trade your plastic glass in for a free glass at the gift shop. Greta told us if your traveling you can get something else. So we were able to get a keychain bottle opener and a pin which my partner swiftly added to the collection on her hat. After we ate in the beer hall. The food was ok kind of bland but we have noticed this is the case with most food in Milwaukee and us being southerners doent help. Definitely get the cheese curds they were to die for. Added beer cheese to the fries and it was really good too. All in all great experience and their beer is excellent. Try the Pumpkin lager, Octoberfest and Riverwest Stein.

Wendi Jones

What a great tour. And the guide Justin was awesome and hilarious! The menu was enticing however will be back to sample that next time.

Robert Ruskowsky

Amazing guide who show the whole brewing process and telling great stories the whole time.

Courtney Meyer

It was a fun environment! The cheese curds were delicious, as well as the mac and cheese! Highly recommend the tour, I didn't have time to go on it!

Danqing Liu

Really cool brewery and great beer! Ben is such an awesome and fun tour guide!

Ramy stein

Amazing brewery. From the staff to the drinks and food. Not a single thing wrong with this place. My only regret is that I wish I had more time there to take a tour of the premises. Great views and I was hoping it was warmer out when I went so that I could check out the area outside by the water. Some of the best beer and food I've had while in Milwaukee.

Hillaire Hess

The tour guide was hilarious! I loved it. Prices are great, you can order full or half glasses. They are very generous with free drinks with a purchase of a tour!

Doug Clarke

Really unfriendly folks unfortunately. Heard such great things but a junior bartender with a chip on his shoulder ruined it.

daniel steiner

Facilities were awesome. The beer hall had a lively ambiance not found at most breweries. Everyone was up and about, smiling and introducing themselves. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately The only thing I'd change is the beer. I had 3 full pours of 3 different styles and each was just middle of the road and not memorable.

Kyle Albro

The beer here is great! I'd like to consider myself a pretzel enthusiast, I order them everywhere I go. The pretzel they give you is above average, but that is not the star of the appetizer, the clear standout is the cheese, fruit, and nut dip it comes with. Of the dips I've had with pretzels this has clearly been the best dip. Love it! They also offer tours which I highly recommend if you go there for the first time. They are informative, funny, and there is plenty of free beer to be had. Overall, every time I come to Milwaukee I find a way to visit here and you should too!

Rose Robinson

Great tour! Got a tour for 4.50 as part of the happy hour deal. One of the owners gave us the tour and he was hilarious! Well worth it! And if you are brave, get a picture with him and he will give you a full pint!!

Srishti Sorento

Their tours are the best! They are fun, entertaining and informative. Although I've been on their tour before, this was the first time I got a chance to order food from the r truck outside and my, oh my I ordered their spicy fried cheese curds- they are to die for!!!! Best, best, best ever fried cheese curds!

Samuel Crisanti

Always a great time at Lakefront. Great tour, great cheese curds and great beer. What else can you ask for?

Jenny Hammond

We had an awesome time! Great value for money. Battle was a great tour guide and should consider a career in stand up comedy! The variety of beer was great, something to suit everyone's tastes. And the cheese curds 10/10! Were from England so hearing about the history of beer from a different perspective was really interesting.

Lauren Armantrout

This was my first brewery tour - like ever. Was thoroughly entertaining & there was beer a plenty. Enjoyed our tour guide (Britt) who was energetic & very well informed. I went on the Environmental Tour. Not sure how the format is wildly different from the original. I did get some good tidbits on the steps Lakefront is trying to reduce its carbon footprint. Only downside I had was that I think there were too many people on our tour group. I understand wanting to fit as many people in a time slot as possible - but there were definitely chunks of the tour that were just missed because of the distance between the tour guide and the rest of the group. My recommendation is to get to your tour time early & fight your way to the front & stick by the tour guide if you can. At least for my tour the crowd was so huge, that if the tour guide moved, you could easily get shoved to the back. Overall, I did enjoy it! Loved the beer & made me have a lot of respect for the craft.

Brittany Meyer

Tour, Beer and Food were great. This is kid friendly! Would recommend the cheese curds!

Volha Siarheichyk

This place is amazing! First of all, big shout-out to our guide Weston, who gave us such an interesting tour around the brewery and told a lot of fun facts about it and the brewing process. It's nice to see people who really love their job and their enthusiasm is always contagious :) The guided tour grants you 4 tokens for the beer and a pint glass (or a discount at their gift shop), so it's a good value for the money. Last but not least, the beer here is superb and the food is so good! Especially the cheese curds. Totally recommend this place to anyone who is interested in beer!

Kaci Bausch

I love this place! The beer is great, the food is great, and the tours are fun. The amount of beer you get on the tour is worth the cost. A must see in Milwaukee. Definitely worth the wait for fish fry!

Brandon Davis

Was visiting friends up in Milwaukee and they suggested Lakefront for dinner, let me tell ya I'm glad they did it was amazing! They have a brewery tour and a gift shop. But the dining part is where it's at, they had a live polka band and dancing. The food was amazing. I had bratwurst and mashed potatoes it was stick to your ribs good. The cheese curds were crazy fresh. The mac & cheese looked delicious. Price was pretty low too, for 5 people it was only $80. I honestly expected like $120 so I was pleasantly surprised.

Jordan C

The tour was so much fun and so worth the price!!! The gluten free food was delicious.

Jeremy Ginsberg

What an awesome place! The food was phenomenal and served very fast on a very busy day. Great selection of beers and many to taste. Will be coming back soon to do the tour.

Marcus Kamrath

Great atmosphere and even better beer! Ben was a wonderful tour guide, very fun and energetic, he kept the whole group laughing the entire time! I would recommend Lakefront to anyone.

Ada Hanson

We recently visited the brewery while spending the weekend in Milwaukee. This place was highly recommended online and noted it said kid friendly so felt it was ok to bring our 8 yr old. Purchased tickets in advance which was a good idea as our afternoon tour was full. Great amount of beer samples were given and enjoyed the tour! Especially learning about the Laverne & Shirley history part. Now let’s talk about the food! After the tour we decided to order a sampling of what they offered and everything was amazing. Sausage flight the polish was our favorite, fries with beer cheese, beer bread, Mac n cheese and cheese curds!! We loved it! Also beautiful area to sit outside by the water and inside large tables to sit at. Great experience we highly recommend it if you’re in Milwaukee.

Lisa Holis

It was like a dinner and a show. Weston was awesome tour guide. Laughs and suds. What better. I love history stories and hearing about owners that see an old building and giving it a one more shot before the wrecking ball. Boy, did the area change after this Brewery opened.

Brittany Marx

Loved our afternoon here! We were visiting Milwaukee and wanted to head to a brewery so we picked this one based on the reviews. We did the tour which was hilarious - it's informative but is more of a performance. Super entertaining and well worth the money! For $11 you get the tour which is about 45 minutes, 4 free samples (you use 1 on the tour but the other 3 are for bar), a free beer, and you can trade your tour cup into the store for either a free souvenir glass or $2 off merchandise! The building is on the river so they have stairs leading down to a river walk set up with furniture, tables & chairs. Beer was fantastic!! We mainly drink IPAs and every one we tried was great! If we ever find ourselves in Milwaukee again we are sure to come back!

François MOIGNET

We had a blast during the visit with our guide Weston! And the beer was great! Thanks for the good time!

Jason Parker

Must see brewery in MKE! Tour guides are the best. Cheese curds are great, try the flight of sausages along with a great selection of beers.

Brew City Kayak

We send our kayaker a up there to have a meal and a cold brew on hot summer days!

Mik A eL

Nice spot, beers and food. The tour worth it with the exceptional guide. Cheers

mike wester

One of the best brewery tours in the business, period. If you're in Milwaukee in sure you've already been told to come here for the tour or fish fry, just do it. Also don't forget to get some cheese curds!

Maral Mehraban

Butter fried chicken was very good! Fries were amazing; but the place was too noisy and loud even for a brewery.

Emily Shen

The brewery tour at Lakefront was one of the best things we did in Milwaukee! For $11 (plus $1 if you book online), you get a super valuable experience: four different types of beer, a pint glass, and a really entertaining tour. I didn't learn anything new here, but definitely had a good laugh. When you check in for the tour, you get four tokens to exchange for beer either during or after the tour, which is really nice if you don't want to drink everything at once. We got the cheese curds after the tour and they were just as good as everyone said!! The space is huge and you'll find plenty of seats inside or outdoors by the river. Parking in the lot was a bit tight over the weekend, but we just waited a bit until a spot opened up.

Ryan Foelske

The tour is an absolute steal for $11! 4 beers included and a wonderfully entertaining and informative tour. Great food to boot. We spent a half day there and had a blast.

Andrew Becker

Great local brewery. The tour is fun and pretty informational with beer all along the way. Monday nights are great to stop by with their half off taps. The cheese curds are pretty good. Better yet is the fish fry.

El Spaniel

Ehh mediocre - you like miller Lite you step up here maybe.

Jahan Monirian

Awesome brewery! We stopped in Friday and enjoyed some polka and a pretzel, hindsight we should have got in on the fish fry action. Saturday we took a brewery tour with Jamie/Jaimie/Jammy (lovely/red head/science teacher). She was hilarious. The tour was entertaining, interactive, and educational. Also they have beer. 10/10 will polka again

Sean Connelly

Busy but all great places are. Good tour, good crowd. Get there early to get food before your tour.

John Griffin-Wiesner

Big space. Good beer selection. Really good fried fish and cheese curds

Janelle

Best brewery tour. Also great because they have a beer for everyone!

Shelley KJ

Go for the tour, stay for the food. And the beer is acceptable. Actually, on this particular visit, my second in three years, the beer was better. Autumn visits offer us Octoberfest (acceptable) and a cozier beer hall experience. My favorite beer wasn't even a Lakefront brew but a scrumptious brown ale from Black Husky Brewing, another local brewery. However it is just that kind of thing that I like about Lakefront...a lot. They have a great history in their partnership with the city/county of Milwaukee and have played a pivotal role influencing the development of the River West neighborhood.. All of this is outlined heavily in the tour. And what a tour! Voted #4 nationally for best brewery tour? Well, for those of us who have been on several brewery tours over the years and understand the basic mechanics of brewing beer, it is perfect. Our guide was entertaining, albeit playing into the stereotype of a hipster drunk. The humor appealed to most, especially the teens in our group...who came up with the names for this stuff?! The highlight of the tour was probably discussing the kegging process - not to mention the bottling line, made famous by the 1970s sitcom "Laverne and Shirley", a spinoff of "Happy Days". Also the tour goodies! A pint glass OR 2 stickers OR basic bottle opener/key ring + 4 tokens for 6 oz brews before, during & after the tour. Well worth the price of admission. The food, I forgot about the food! TRY IT - and the fish fry looks amazing but others in my party had different needs so I'll have to check that out on my next visit. Hopefully I don't have to wait 2 years!

Jordan Sherfey

The tour was amazing. I was told by a few people that this is the tour you should start with. Very glad we did. Our tour guide, Ryan, was hilarious! Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The East side dark was by far my favorite beer. Food was excellent as well. I got a Reuben and my brother got some form of mac and cheese (they have different kinds.) Both were very good. Parking was a challenge, but we came right when our tour was starting. This place was very busy when we got there, so I suggest you get there at least 15 minutes before your tour time to find parking and get a beer.

Elizabeth Rzeznik

Good beer, but not a great, inviting environment. Felt like a summer camp lunch room. It's an awesome, old building, but they did not take advantage of the original beauty. Not the best, quality food and tasted like it was warmed up in a microwave. The outside area was great to enjoy with the beautiful sinshine.

Evan

We did not do the tour but we did get some grub and drinks. The staff's energy is great. It can get busy and loud between tours but other than that we enjoyed getting a table and people watching.

Maddie L

I would recommend this brewery to anyone visiting Milwaukee (even the Pabst brewery told us to come here) - the beer's great, you get a ton of free beer on the tour (and a free glass) and they have awesome pub food. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts - they're fried. Check it out for sure!

Erik Browne

One of the better places to brings friends from out of town for the "Milwaukee experience". A great tour with adequate drink tokens, fantastic beer, AMAZING cheese curds, and a really great location history in addition to river access.

Noah Bisel

Really cool place with awesome beer. The outdoor patio in back sits on the river and is great on a nice day!

Ted Sonnenberg

An incredibly fun place to go and one the best local breweries around. Great selection of craft beers and great food. Went on the tour of the brewery, the staff was very friendly and made for an interesting visit. Besides being an informative tour, the guide also made it a very fun experience and made sure everyone always a had a fresh drink in hand.

Connie Hansen

Tour was great. Weston did an awesome job. Beer is great.

Aaron Solomon

Great beer, great tour.. thanks Bob!

Miranda Casper

Went here yesterday with my family for the fish fry. Our server (Lily or Lucy I can't remember) was very nice and quick to accommodate us. I had the classic fish fry with potato pancakes and it was amazing! Highly recommend. That with the cheese curds filled me up and I had to take half my food home (not that that's a bad thing!) Why I rated 4 stars: the family style seating is a little weird, not going to lie. I kind of wish we were able to have our own table (party of 5) but we made it work. And the coleslaw wasnt as great as anything else. But other than that, highly recommend!

Ruth Neal

Very interesting, informative and fun tour. We went with our kids, ages 6 & 8. Some of the jokes were a little dirtier than I was expecting, but we gave them root beers and they had a great time. For food, we loved the fish & chips and chicken strips. The fries are AMAZING as is there homemade ranch. I really wanted to love the fried cheese curd. I've never had it before and have no idea what it's supposed to be like, but ours came out later than the rest of the meal and they were extremely chewy and cold. Maybe they are supposed to be like this? We did not care for them though. Lastly we had the WI mac n cheese. Not sure what kind of cheese(s) they use, but it was the worst mac n cheese I've had. Would definitely go again. The outdoor riverside seating is lovely and the beers are delicious.

Anthony Jesmok

Lakefront Brewery is a decent place to go with friends to enjoy a beer and some food. I actually don't drink alcohol, but they have a golden root beer available in bottles that's delicious. In terms of the tour, there are a number of options available and you need to look at the site to determine what you want to go for. The tours on weekdays are a mixture of comedy, a brief history of beer brewing and Lakefront, and a tour of parts of the brewery that are safe to go through (for example, we could not visit bottling because production was running). Be prepared to sing, dance, and participate. Keep in mind it's 21+ for the tour, as beer flows freely and there's not a wristband system like Miller or Sprecher. There's complete brewery tours available on weekends when production is offline and specialty Brewmaster-led tours available for homebrewers or those interested in the science of brewing. After the tour, we used our beer tokens out in back on the riverfront. Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff overall.

Gregory Pries

Great place to visit last night. Parking is minimal in their dedicated lot, but found plenty of street parking available. Indoor and outdoor seating, by the river, is plentiful (although given the river/bridge area of the outdoor seating, some areas can be a bit "bird bombed" if you catch my drift). Food and drink are ordered from two separate bars in and then food is delivered to your table. Bar attendant very helpful suggesting drink options and the when it arrived in relatively short order was excellent. The only reason I personally can't say it was a 5 rating was due to the somewhat hard to get to downtown location.

Gianna Olson

I’ve gone on this tour several times over the last 10 years and it’s always been a favorite place. I talked it up to friends who’ve never been, but we ended up leaving the tour early. The guide’s expectation of complete group silence is unrealistic and annoying. The muted casual comments between groups of friends were not taking anything away from her grandstanding performance. Hopefully the weekend tours are still great, but this was a real disappointment.

Sasha Jet

I really like this place but have one problem. My wife and I ordered a fish fry and it was good but they only give you two small pieces of fish. I would give it 5 stars if they gave 3 pieces of fish a bit larger in size.

Dominique Bates

Just had a great tour with Norman!..He was funny, provocative, and knowledgeable(with plenty of Daddy jokes)..Beer was good and definitely a must if visiting Milwaukee.

Eddie Joseph

Fun and informative tour. Great beer.

Brent Bates

Excellent tour, funny guide named Tony. The fried cheese curds are the best in the world! Must have. All the beers were great too.

Michael Boblin

To my knowledge I’ve been to almost every brewery tour in the state and I’m not aware of a better tour for the price. You’ll catch a buzz, be entertained, learn a thing or two, and go home with a pint glass. All for $8!

Trevor M. MBA

Tour and fish fry. Great Friday night thing to do!

Jonas Cafferty

Really good beer, and it looks like they run a great brewery tour as well. On the food side of things - get the cheese curds!

Kristina Sromek

Great place. Fun atmosphere. Beers change seasonally, great sectional. Food is fantastic as well. You can tell they really enjoy their jobs. Tour guys are wonderful.

Paul Koenig

If I could give it more I would. Food was amazing. Beers were really good. Got a flight of some new stuff and was not disappointed. Quality beers with no nasty aftertaste. French fries: awesome awesome awesome Fish Fry: Awesome Loaded Potato Soup: Awesome Garlic Pretzels: Awesome Fish Tacos: Awesome Cheese Curds: Awesome If I lived closer I would be here once a week.

First, I want to say that I've been here before and have done the tour before. I liked it alot so I brought a friend to see it as well. This time around it wasnt the same. The tour itself was very informative, but we didnt go into the brewery part hardly at all, where as the time before we walked all over the brewery. Maybe they changed how they do things, but if the price changed it only went up. This means I'm getting less for more. We ordered food before the tour and it wasnt good whatsoever. We ordered "mac n cheese" and it came out lukewarm as did the two pretzels we ordered as well. They have won awards for things like their cheese curds, which we didnt order. If I were them, I'd put time and money into raising the bar on their food or just stick to the simple things like those cheese curds and scrap those entrees. The saving grace for this brewery is the beer. They're all great. The three stars are exclusively for just the beer. Everything else doesnt deserve a star.

Scott VanDeVoord

Took the the tour with Norm. Great guide, very interesting and entertaining. Good eats in the bar hall. Excellent beers on tap. Would definitely come back next time I'm in Milwaukee

Ashley Thornwell

Best brewery in the mid west. No questions.

Nickolas Roedel

Feels like I've been here nearly 1,000 times- I love the beer, the atmosphere, the tour, and the best brewery tour guides I've ever met. Never once have I been disappointed when I visited Lakefront.

Darren West

Didn't have time to do the tour, but the food and beer were quite good. It was easy to order at the counter and you get a number to place on the table. Atmosphere was warehouse-like, was decorated nice though and plenty of seating.

Carolyn Elrod

we have been on similar tours but this one stands out for three reasons. first, the guides love their jobs and it shows. second , the tour was more informative than any i had been on before, and third, it was entertaining. they joke and cut up and its a good time. our guide was able to answer a couple of technical questions that were asked, so he wasnt just reading a script. we got 4 tokens and a 6oz cup with our ticket purchase. Military ID will get this for half price! Samples are generous, there is a variety of beer so something for everyone, the beer is certified kosher, and there is a gluten free option. word of advice: they serve food so i recommend eating after your tour while you enjoy the last samples, as the beer has a fairly high alcohol content. word of warning: there are stairs to go down to brew area then back up again. the cup can be traded for a nice quality beer glass or used for $2 discount on a purchase of tshirts, etc. oh, if you remember Laverne and Shirley, you could win extra beer tokens with trivia questions!

Mason Lugo

Definitely one of my favorite places. Cool place and great beer selection. The tour is worth trying. Nice history and good beers to try

Doug M

Welcoming environment, employees, and overall awesome experience. Love their products! Will DEFINITELY be back!

Nathan Carroll

Pretty dang good. Enjoyedable environment and fun to people watch.

Sasharae Williams

Second time eating here. It was awesome! The cheese curds are to die for. Oh my the Brewbuen was amazing!!! Please take your whole family, they'll love it too.

Adriano Menezes

This is the place to visit for food and amazing tasting beer and or Root beer. The best cheese curds in Wisconsin.

Sarah

Lakefront is such a fun place! I love doing the tours. The tour guides are always funny and very knowledgable. You get to drink while you tour, and you get drink tokens to sample more beer after the tour. The beer is delicious. Riverwest Stein has always been my favorite, but I love trying anything new they have to offer. The tours are very popular, so it's always a good idea to buy tickets in advance. In addition to great beer. Lakefront also has a great Friday fish fry. It's usually busy, so plan on a wait. The wait is worth it though. The fish is always good, and I love the tartar sauce. Curds are a great app to get too! They usually have live music as well. It's very lively!

Christian Henningsen

Amazing beers bursting with flavor! Very cool atmosphere. Definitely will be back

Samantha Erwin

Norman as a tour guide is great. Cheese curds don't look like much, but so worth it.

Greg Cobb

For $8 the mini tour is awesome. Tour is pure comedy, plus included in the price is 4 small glasses of beer and a souvenir pint glass.

The Carrs

Awesome tour....Lots of free beer......Free pint glass......Everyone was great! SO much better than the Miller/Coors tour!

Jamie A.

We were visiting from London and absolutely loved this place, the beer and the overall vibe. The Beer Hall has such a great feeling about it and the food was really good (must have the cheese curds). The beer selection is really broad and there is a beer there for every type of beer fan. The tour was super fun, absolutely hilarious, and a great way to be introduced to the brewery and it's heritage. Absolutely recommend visiting this brewery!

Doug Bright

Tour was cheesy (and very standard to other brewery tours I've been on), but informative to the history of the place and a really great deal - a must do for MKE beer-loving visitors. Loved the vibe in the main room and the beer was tasty. I bet the patio is lovely in the summer.

Caleb Horton

Out of dozens of beer tours, this was my favorite one yet. Delicious beers (and cheese curds!)

Abhishek kaurav

Vibrant place, relatively low priced beers and offers brewery tours for extra $$. Although a little bit congested for parking.

Beth Baldwin

Fun place to visit! Entertaining tour guide, great beer and good food. The french fries are excellent. Good place for a casual meal even if you're not taking the tour.

Cory Burgess

Was awesome! My tour guide Jaime was amazing! She did a great job. Good atmosphere and great beer

Paul Degen

Very nice brewery. Beautiful old building. Food was great. Some of the newer beers were just OK. Their older ones, however are phenomenal.

Saverio Pascazio

Place and atmosphere are nice. Beers are fine but could be better. One IPA was really good. The "tour" is a hoax: the tour guide does his best to entertain his guests, but he's got orders (from the management?) that noone has to touch anything. The final result is that you're not even allowed to walk around. You may wonder why 4 stars. Because after all it's a brewery. Forget the food: drink.

Marie Sprick

The brewery guide was not very pleasant he had a problem with attention not fully focused on him and his yelling. Multiple people left the tour early. At the beginning of the tour, he began by telling us that we would not be talking as this was his time and we weren't going to waste it Perhaps the tour would have been better earlier so he hadn't sampled so much of the product. Thanks for the memories, battle, we appreciate your time, not that you appreciated ours Told multiple parties that they wasted his time by being late and not listening to his instructions

Jason Rehor

The best brewery I’ve been to! We got cheese curds before the tour and they were delicious. The tour was a blast as our tour guide, Nolan was very funny and knowledgeable. I highly recommend coming here if you are visiting Milwaukee and looking to try great beer and food.

Jon Douglas

Great beer and great atmosphere. There are food options that accommodate vegans and carnivores. Definitely one of the better breweries to visit.

Jay Sandoval

Drove from Chicago to give this place a try , and after 1.5 hour drive , this place didn't disappoint. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was awesome !

Pascal Thiel

This place is straight up amazing, we went here to get some food on a rainy day and not only got some awesome beer and food from really friendly staff but also enjoyed the brewery tour (couldn’t recommend that more(!)).

Josh Zignego

Was crowded on the riverside and the Oktoberfest was underwhelming. Service was not fantastic and was a pretty forgettable experience

Molly Rockwood

The tour is a great deal for its price, and the tour guides are all hilarious! Cheese curds are wonderful as well

Ward Phillips

I've done numerous brewery tours as well as distillery tours. This was, by a far piece, the most spirited and entertaining. Our guide was a hoot and despite all the fun we still learned a lot. Authentic Laverne and Shirley moment occurred. Just sayin'....

Kate Ferrante

Visited the brewery with someone else's husband. We enjoyed ourselves pretending to be a real couple. I hope to return someday with my own husband if I am able to snag one.

Carl Jorgensen

Had a great time and tour at Lakefront Brewery. The tour was very informative on the beer making process. Jamie was our tour guide and she was excellent. I had a couple of there Octoberfest beers and it was great. It is October. Very enjoying time.

Brad Simon

This is my favorite brewery on planet earth, and I've been to over 60. It's a classic German beer hall, but with exceptional beer and excellent food. They'll play you polka music on the weekends to complete the experience. Enjoy an Eastside Dark lager while munching on a potato pancake and all your earthly worries will fade away. I promise.

Janet Brishke

I hadn't visited since the hall had been redone to accommodate all the food options, and was so glad they added that! No tour on this visit (we had a kid with us), but enjoyed the beer and food very much!

Delaney Billings

I went on the brewery tour here- so much fun, well worth the price! The tour guide, JJ was very funny and made the tour very entertaining from the start. The beer is great! First time having gluten free beer and it was awesome!

Nae _ Say

I had an amazing time at Lakefront Brewery! I had the lobster roll and fries lunch special that was advertised. It was the most amazing decision I could’ve made (video inserted) Tour Guide Justin gave the most interactive & informative tour! I recommend asking for Justin if you take the tour! For 11$ you can tour and receive 5 free beers I believe. (Clearly had one too many to remember lol) At the end of the tour you can also head to the gift shop to redeem your empty beer cup for a glass cup to take home as a souvenir. Fun place to go if you want to learn about beer or try different flavors. Also great for expert beer drinkers.

Kevin G

Tour was fun and interesting, just about all the beers were very good. The food we got was very good as well. Would visit again.

Taylor Wolfer

Amazing beers, tours (make sure to do the full one if you've never been before), cheese curds and fish fry (with polka). One of Milwaukee's "musts".

C

If i paid attention during the tour whilst having a few beers, Lakefront Brewery was started by two brothers in what was an old Power Station. If thats not right then the beer was way better than expected. Yes they make beer on site. Yes you can do a tour there. Yes, they serve decent pub food as well. Well worth checking out as the beers are very good as well.

Ryley Rahaman

I came to Lakefront brewery last night (a Wednesday at 6:15pm) for my graduation dinner with a group of 10. As soon as we walked in the door we went up to the host stand, it took several awkward moments and eye contact with several servers until I had to stop someone and ask if there was a hostess or if it self seating. This was my first time here so I didn’t realized you could seat yourself. When my party sat itself at a very long table that could’ve sat about 8 more people, we realized there were only 2 menus. I had to take menus from 4 other tables so that my group and I could share with one another, since there were no servers on sight even though it was quite busy there. Once we decided to order, we went up the the food kiosk, and my 20 year old friends tried to order food. We didn’t see any signs that alerted us to “21 years or older only” and there was no one carding at the door, so I assumed from the many children under 12 running around that this was a family restaurant. I knew that it was also a brewery but it was only around 6pm so I didn’t think anything of it. Half of my party got told to leave, even though they just wanted food, and we were told we could go back to our table to explain to the rest of the party our situation and gather their things by the manager. As soon as we got to our table the manager starting running over to tell us to leave AGAIN, even though we were just told to gather our things. I explained to her that I understand she’s just doing her job, and we were not trying to cause trouble, they were just trying to gather their things. After HALF of my graduation party left, we got our food. The cheese curds were really good, I think they make their own ranch and it was delicious. I got the Mac n cheese though, and couldn’t bring myself to eat half of it, it just seemed to be flavorless. Overall I probably won’t be coming back, I just wished that the staff was better accustomed to having larger groups of people there, it seemed as if there were 4 servers on the floor and it was very difficult to get any kind of service or help near the tables section. I would’ve appreciated someone carding at the door if it is 21 or older, or a hostess to be able to tell groups coming in whether or not it’s self service.

Mark Y

Cool building in a beautiful location. I wasn't impressed with the food and beer, though. We had an average BLT and loaded mashed potatoes with chicken that wasn't nearly as good as I had hoped. Quality ingredients would have made it a quality dish. There were a couple of decent beers, but none of them really stood out. The Soaker DIPA was my favorite, while the Eazy Teazy was one to stay away from.

Jeremy Riese

They have a wide selection of brews, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Atmosphere is nice, and the venue is fairly open. This lends itself to a more social experience if you desire, with smaller tables for yourself or small groups.

Clayton Coenen

Great beers! Fun tour from Nolan! Nice space.

Rachel Pennington

JD gave an awesome tour of the brewery for us today. Lots of detail, super funny and cool to learn about the history of the brewery. All of the craft beer is delicious, staff is nice and great pub food. Great visit for a weekend trip!

Scott Chamberlin

Turkey melt = amazing. But only 1 dark beer (non-lager). At a brewery! :-/

Yady

Great selection of craft beer on tap. Tour, 4 drinks & glass pint glass only $12, can't beat that. Definitely worth visiting, you won't be disappointing

Randi M.

Great beer selection and cool atmosphere. The staff was very nice. Will be back!

Paul Dickinson

Not a ton of non beer options. I settled on the maple root beer. Food was very quick
