Lush in summer, teaming with waterfowl in fall. Small mammals abound.

Scott Schable

There are many opportunities to get away from the rat race of life, and see turtles, geese, a river otter, egrets, cranes and backyard birds. The best time to go, is in the mid to late fall, and in the spring, but try to avoid mid day, but early morning and evening is the best time for most of the activity.

Something to do for everyone at any time of the year. Two museums or learning centers now. Tours in the marsh offer so many animals to see the kids love it. Easy to get to, easy to get around. We go at least once a year.

Kathleen Steingraber

Beautiful area.

Love it here. Beautiful paths and boardwalks that are especially enjoyable if you like birdwatching. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. We've been here many times and the experience is never the same. When the geese rest here in the Fall it is a sight to see, but we prefer coming when it's not so busy and you can have a more intimate experience with the wildlife.

A short stroll down the boardwalk to sit in the gazebo and watch the Trumpeter Swans is really fun. Friendly and knowledgeable hosts in the visitor building, fun gift shop and interesting displays. So worth the stop on the way to the auto drive & big boardwalk! Don't miss it!

Two great visitor centers for this beautiful place. One Federal and one State. The State one is fancier though the Federal one give a real dose of "National Park" and feels more wild (there's also a book with old time pictures). But both visitor centers are terrific. Note that years ago, in the fall, corn was spread to attract geese and a million birds would show up. That practice stopped and now migration is more natural. Go see as much as you have time for. And don't miss the auto drive off of SR 49 - it's redone and has walking piers so you get into the Marsh.

Mary was super helpful with providing options for purchasing a National parks annual pass!

Wonderful place for taking small children to hike. Little pit stops with "activities" along the trail. One main gravel trail, but also an extended grass trail, and a boardwalk with platform and benches to sit and enjoy the view.

Frank Poremba

Beautiful scenery !!
