So beautiful and it is worth the trip. The view alone is worth it.
Holy Hill is not just a destination, it is truly a special, blessed experience. I’ve never met a person who isn’t moved in some way by their visit to Holy Hill. Many Wisconsin residents don’t realize how lucky we are to have such an amazing Church in our state. People literally come from all around the world to visit Holy Hill. It truly is a one of a kind place. I visited Holy Hill frequently during a very difficult and challenging time in my life, often on a daily basis, and it always provided me with the comfort and hope needed to stay strong and weather the storm. The many tears of sadness I shed at Holy Hill during that extremely rough time are now replaced with tears of happiness and gratitude whenever I visit. Upon entering the main upper Church one can’t help but be impressed by it’s impressive size, classic architecture, and special feeling in the air. The lower Chapel offers the perfect surroundings for quiet prayer and reflection, filled with a peaceful silence that is a rare gift in today’s fast paced world. Walking the Stations of the Cross is a beautiful experience, but please keep in mind that it is a quite long, sometimes challenging walk up and down hilly terrain. Climbing the 178 stairs to the top of the scenic tower is also a challenge, but the view from the top is beyond worth it. Be sure to bring your camera along!!!! The large gift shop offers a huge variety of items. Prices aren’t necessarily cheap, but they’re comparable to most other stores that carry similar items. The cafe offers reasonably priced and tasty food that can be enjoyed in a cozy dining area with additional pleasant views of the grounds. It’s the perfect place to relax, refuel, and enjoy conversation after visiting the Church and surrounding grounds. The sandwiches and soups are delicious!!! Perhaps most importantly, experiencing Holy Hill and it’s surroundings can be enjoyed and appreciated by people of any faith. That alone is a real testament to the unique, special nature of the Church.
Stunning! So many childhood memories :) We visit every time we are in WI.
Beautiful church and I love to walk up the stairs to the top and look out, beautiful view
WOW!! Do the tower. Lots and lots of stairs but well worth it.
This is a naturally beautiful location to visit regardless of your theological viewpoints. The basilica minor is gorgeously nestled on the hill top. It is a particularly popular place to visit during the fall. Parking on the lower trail entrance is limited, but there is plenty if you go near the top of the property.
Beautiful place to visit both inside and out. The views from above are fantastic.
I love going to Holy Hill, it's my favorite place to relax and feel peaceful. They also have a cafeteria with delicious pumpkin chilli, i highly recommend it
We went for St. John Bosco Youth Day and had a wonderful day! This was our 2nd time going. We love touring the Basilica and grounds. There is a very nice gift shop as well.
It was the most beautiful place I have been felt even closer to God
Great place to spend family time!
Set upon a hilltop surrounded by lush forest this basilica offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area and even Milwaukee on a clear day. An amazing place to worship.
Beautiful, serene and God-filled place. I go every chance I get.
Beautiful church and increduble history.
This place is more than just a shrine. It's a reflection of homage and beauty provided by the people of Wisconsin and the rest of the world. Holy Hill is indescribably gorgeous. From the minute this castle like structure rises from the distance on a wayward drive to the instance where the front doors are within grasp, the enchantment takes place. A visit is more than worth it. Beyond those doors is a true gateway to serenity. Set aside some time to see inside. It's an unforgettable experience that's difficult to regret.
Most beautiful Holy place to visit. Try the food in the cafe or climb the tower. Wonderful place to take a family.
Beautiful hilltop setting, especially in the fall. Historic, with a bit of a climb to the church itself (or an elevator ride from the gift shop). The church is beautiful inside too. Great vistas from the plaza outside the main entrance to the church.
Such beautiful views and an awesome workout if you climb all the way to the top. Pretty and serene. Bring food have a picnic make a day of it. Gorgeous walk through the stations of the Cross.
Beautiful walk through the forest to the top of a hill ends at a church where you can climb up the tower and have a great view of the countryside.
Such a beautiful place. A must see!
Always a wonderful day visiting Holy Hill. Beautiful inside and out.
Place is honestly one of the most beautiful places in Wisconsin, scenic view everywhere. You can even climb to one of the spires
I've been there many times took some people from New Mexico up there to see what it looks like just gorgeous just beautiful always a pleasure to go there
It is so beautiful and peaceful here. My daughters bought rosaries and had them blessed! Unfortunately, the Scenic Towers were not open, not until May 1st! Will be coming back!
One of my favorite places on this Earth. I used to be a parishioner when I lived in the area. Always special in my heart ❣️
Very nice natural space leading up to the church with good energy. Beautiful stained glass, vaulted ceilings, stone and woodwork inside main hall. The spire is really cool, a bit of a climb but a great view. There are a lot of little shrines and natural spaces around the exterior too. All told it's a very cool experience to see holy hill even if you aren't Catholic or even religious.
Beautiful place. People of all nations young and old can appreciate it. The scenic tower is amazing and the cafe has lots of delicious items to choose from. Gorgeous architecture.
This is the most amazing place to go to see fall colors! Worth the wait to go into the tower.
A beautiful and quiet place to pray and meditate.. gorgeous grounds and buildings too
I come every autumn. Beautiful place.
Peaceful place to meditate and get closer to God. The gift shop has plenty of items to assist you on your experience.
Beautiful walk and scenery! Put off coming here because we weren't sure how family friendly it was with the walking/hiking. Total score from our 1 1/2 yr old on up. Very historical and peaceful.
Peaceful, stunning, a perfect get away from the office and city.
Lovely! Everyone was friendly. Very well organized. A variety of vendors. I just would like to see chairs setup for eating, and for those who are older, a place to sit, and relax.
Wait time are too high during the weekend. Never got a chance to go up top. Probably make a trip during the weekday.
This place is GORGEOUS! I highly recommend going there to visit. Even if you aren't Christian or if church isn't your thing, EVERYONE is welcome here and it is such a beautiful place to hang out and "sight see".
Very Peaceful, beuitiful, Holy, Prayer place. Everyone is Welcome here! Just leave your technologies in the car. Remember to be respectful of others with low noise and quiet talking. A very good place to De-Stress. And we all need this one time or many times.
Beautiful Catholic Cathedral. The climb up the tower was worth the effort for the view! Small staircase: People with fear of heights should reconsider
Beautiful and peaceful. Nothing better than walking the stations with the family
Beautiful historic facilities/grounds...and views from atop a very high hill of the gorgeous countryside in Hubertus, Wisconsin. Nice gift shop with friendly staff and good product mix for Christian/Catholic products and books. A nice but limited [selection] cafe...with limited hours. But the services/Masses are far too conservative for my liking. And the friars are a bit stand-offish.
The basilica is very beautiful and climbing up the tower steps is definitely worth it! Outstanding view!!!
One of the most beautiful places in Wisconsin.!!
Beautiful grounds, beautiful church, very large gift shop with a huge variety. The annual Art &Craft fair is amazing.
Beautiful as always! Great fall colors. Cute gift shop.
Beautiful scenery in the fall. Can't beat the view. The historical information and beauty here compares to no other! A must visit if you live in WI.
this is one of the nicest church in the midwest. You will feel blessed everytime you visit the place. Btw, it is a pretty picturesque place on fall.
Beautiful place, the church is gorgeous! Great place to go during fall!
Great place to come and pray. Great view from the tower, 178 steps.
BEAUTIFUL. OMG THE VIEW. JUST BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT!!!!!
Beautiful place! We visited on a Monday. The place was quiet and very serene, we had it all to ourselves. It was a great visit, the 14 stations are highly recommended.
Breathtaking! Attended healing mass. Best to go during the week so you can absorb entire experience. Must go.
Loved going thru all tge stations of the Cross. Church was so beautiful and very scenic view.
Beautiful Basilica and views! Clean and easy to tour! Everyone made the visit enjoyable. Tour the grounds also well maintained. Difficult to score a 5 from me, this is the first in a long time!
i live in Chicago but every august I come here with my family to visit and it's a wonderful place to spend the day here.
This is a beautiful Catholic Church with some of the best scenery views, I couldn’t go up the tower because the wait was too long but we got to enjoy our visit and took lots of pics. Best time to go, probably super early in the AM or late afternoon.. oh and you don’t need to be religious or catholic to visit.
Great place to take a motorcycle to. Also the Padres there will bless you or your ride or both. It's a church first off so a little respect is expected. They do have a bell tire with a very long spiral staircase that if you can climb the top you get fantastic views of the country side. Don't forget to take the path of the cross take in the grottos. Bring your walking shoes lots of up hill downhill and stairs. The main parts are wheelchair accessible but the path of the cross would be difficult. Very nice twisting roads expect lots of motorcycle traffic on nice day. Nice cafe great apple pies. A day trip is best also there are scheduled mass times.
Beautiful day for a drive. Relaxing with John & Margaret Kiddell.
Its wonderful for a walk up hill. Quiet and peaceful. The view is good. We observed one of the prayers, it was interesting to watch it, a lot of kids and families.. i recommend it for nature lovers!
The climb to the top of the steeple is breathtaking!! And the stained glass windows are amazing! So worth the short trip!
Always a beautiful visit, a must visit during the fall with the color of the trees. Very narrow stairs going up the spire with the last 10 feet or so a spiral staircase hanging in the middle. Not easy with a fear of heights.
Beautiful church with beautiful views. There's a tower to climb, trails, a cafeteria, and a large gift shop.
A must-see destination for anyone in the region. Beautiful and sombering hiking trails with wonderful landscape. Take the 178 steps up the tower if you care to see a stunning Vista... On a clear day you can see downtown Milwaukee!
fall is the best time of year to go and see all of the leave from high above. Went to the arts and crafts fair...best one! creative and affordable. We have been going for over 10 years!
Very special place and the atmosphere is just perfect for a harmonious experience
Beautiful scenery. Church is amazing to see
Wait for leaf change for full effect. Stunning location. Very spiritual.
It was beautiful. I would recommend this place. Just watch the weather before you go as the towers maybe closed.
Always look forward to this craft fair. Gorgeous setting and unusual crafts.
Peaceful. Beautiful. Wonderful people.
Beautiful...just beautiful.
The church is beautiful!! Enjoy the 12:30pm mass. Priest makes the homily meaningful to today's needs. Great place to take pictures. There's plenty of grounds to walk & enjoy the outdoors, especially in the fall. The cafeteria cooks up a variety of wonderful tasting foods your sure to enjoy. Portion sizes are just right for the price.
Beautiful and well kept. A place for quiet reflection and prayer.
Take the challenging 178 step hike up the stairs within the tower. Views are fantastic and the experience is worth it.
Beautiful place. Definitely worth going to.
Beautiful, relaxing place to visit. Walk while enjoying the surroundings, dreaming of possibilities, clearing your mind and making connections!
Beautiful is all you need to know
Great climb up to the top! Worthwhile views
Beautiful. Magnificent. Breath-taking.
Nice shrine..the chapel has a peaceful ambience. You may need to walk a bit to reach the chapel and a further 175 steps to climb to the top of scenic tower (closed from November to March)
This is the time of year to take your folks for a car ride to Holy Hill
By the moment you set foot in the hill you can feel hear and see the peace and holiness that surrounds it. The priests are all friendly even thou they don't agree with the fact that I'm a Cubs and Bears fans
A great view of the surrounding area in the fall. The scenic tower is a bit of a challenge to climb as there are quite a few narrow steps, but the views are worthwhile. Because the tower is free/donation encouraged, there can be quite a bit of traffic on the stairs when it is crowded. I recommend going on a day that the weather isn't 100% ideal (e.g. colder and overcast) if you want the easiest time getting up the tower. Parking is very limited closest to the basilica, but if you are patient you can find a spot.
Very Wisconsin place to visit. Gorgeous on a sunny and not raining when we were there.
This is a really beautiful place. Cafe is pretty stocked, which is nice when it's chilly. The drive on the way in was also stunning.
Was there for the craft fair.......outstanding !!
Beatiful and peaceful place for calming myself down.
Nice architecture and grounds... good to explore.
Be ready for some steps and hills as you climb to the top of this gorgeous basilica. The view is incredible, there is a gift shop, and lots of fresh air to refresh your soul.
One of my favorite places! So happy confession is offered daily before mass.
The basilica is beautiful. So is the setting. Make sure to take the stairs up to the tower.
Its my go to place if I need to relax and find a moment of peace and quiet. Nature sounds amazing above the trees. The trip up the tower is worth it. The reward was greater than my fear of heights.
Beautiful place to relax and enjoy with your family ....
Great ...God bless all who serve in this place ..
Beautiful service about every 45 minutes. Incredible people, architecture and design.
This place is awe inspiring. The architecture is true craftsmanship. Beautiful stained glass, chapels, and grounds. You can climb the tower if you dare to get a birds eye view of the countryside. Even if you arent religious it is worth seeing.
Very beautiful place and so peaceful.
My first time here. It was amazing. I look forward to coming back in the future.
My family and I love this place! Beautiful area, gorgeous church, friendly people.
Such a spiritual place. No matter what your faith it's an emotional experience
It's been more then 20 yrs haven't been there and want to go this weekend. It's a really nice place to go.
Beautiful atmosphere, even better to go during the fall to see the different colors of the trees.
Peaceful place. At the observation deck you can see the entire forest.
Been going here for years with family such a great place
Great church and amazing views
I go to holy hill at least 2+ times a month. It is a beautiful and breathtaking place. The whole grounds and buildings are neat and tidy. Staff is amazing and super friendly. On the grounds there are hiking trails and stations you walk to with marble scenes. You can climb one of the big towers for a breathtaking view but the tower is only open in warmer months. There is a gift shop that has everything from rosaries, jewelry, statues, books, shirts and anything else religious. They also have things for first communion, baptism, confirmation, christmas, anniversaries, birthdays etc. There is a chapel you can light candles for a fee of $4 per candle. At christmas time they decorate all the indoor areas and it is beautiful. The grounds are only open until 5pm. I love climbing the tower or just going there in fall to see all the trees turn colors. My pictures always look professional even though i am just an average picture taker. This is a must see you won't be disappointed I promise.
Breathtakingly beautiful architecture. Serene atmosphere. Lovely views from the top.
Absolutely breath taking! Don't leave this world without seeing this place first. ♥️
Awesome place. Very special and faith filled. Need to visit if you can.
You must experience the most picturesque view of the rolling hills and Milwaukee skyline on a cold and clear day! Climb the narrow steps to the top of the towers that you can see for miles and take the best photos ever! Walk the many trails through the woods and attend an enormous craft fair and stop by the cafe to indulge in their made from scratch menu items We always buy pies to bring home! Attend any of their masses in the newly renovated upper church. Attend one of the mass motorcycle blessings or ask for a private blessing . Please keep in mind that this is still a place of worship so please be mindful to those of who are their solely for this purpose. And as always they accept free will donations because that is how they maintain this massive complex.
I love to go to Holy Hill to pray and light candles for my family who have passed on. The colors this time of year are spectacular! The only problem last Sunday was massive overcrowding. We waited 1.5 hr to go up in the tower because no staff were encouraging tourists to come down. The last stairway is single file and the entire staircase was jammed full all the way up so no one could get down. Staff should have been only allowing people up after a group comes down. There was only one staff at the bottom.
It's a beautiful place for prayers
Beautiful scenery. The Hotel Louisville was even more Christian.
It is soo beautiful and peaceful.
The beauty of this basilica is beyond belief. Set up high on a hill hence " Holy Hill" is a timeless basilica with stunning views of the countryside below. Not to be out done by nature, the basilica is a timeless monument of a bygone time. The views of the basilica itself are well, holy. The only real adjective that really comes to mind. If you wish to improve your view, if possible, you can go up the stairs that lead to the top of the tower, to see for miles in all directions! However caution must be used in this, for the stairs are very steep and narrow and a strenuous climb. However, if you are able to go up, then I reccomend it , for as they say, " on a clear day you can see forever " or so it seems!
The church is very stunning and beautiful. Very pleased that we decided to go.
Such beautiful sights from the viewing area outside the basilica. Obviously a Catholic holy site but it can be a spot to check out regardless of your religious affiliation. The inside of the basilica is beautiful as well.
Very holy. Very hilly. A beautiful view inside and outside the chapels. Grandma's favorite place.
Stunning views of Wisconsin. Beautiful basilica with multiple language Masses. Stations of the Cross require some effort (there are several stairs) but trail is now all paved.
Beautiful place and friendly people.
I always like to come here. This is a place that is so Serene and beautiful. The masses are beautiful, the gift shop has many different items even if you are not Catholic. The best time to come here is in the summer or fall. The colors are amazing. Oh, and not to forget their incredibly tasty diner. They have homemade delights. Don't eat before you go there. The food is amazing.
It was a very interesting place to visit. You are allowed to climb to the top of (at least one) steeple but a sign warned there was 700 and some steps, and wished you good luck if you want to climb to the top!
I have been visiting Holy Hill since I was a child & always buying things in the Basilica. Take time to look around when you are there, you won't regret it. The scenery is breath taking & has been a great place for wedding photo backdrops. Once you go there, you'll be back time & time again. Enjoy.
This place is a hidden gems Incredible view especially, with the fall colors
The wonderful place to be. It's so claiming there and the people there is so helpful.
Always wonderful. Been coming since 1963.
Very nice church and area. Just make sure your comfy shoes are in. Lots of hill walking.
Very beautiful Church and great scenic views! The grounds and Stations of the Cross are fantastic as well! I highly recommend this Holy place!
The entire area is beautiful. Fall is definitely the best time to go. The basilica is surrounded by very nice trails that can be steep at times. The view from the tower is amazing. It's 178 stairs to the top. You can see all the way to Milwaukee. The area just below the top can scare some people away. Once you get to the top it's not that bad.
Beautiful. Peaceful. Restorative.
This is a beautiful place to walk and pray and meditate. We are Protestant - came for a wedding - but still felt welcomed. I only wish we had arrived earlier so we could see more of the grounds.
Such a beautiful place to visit. You can picnic or go to church. There are also trails you can walk. I love going just to get away from the city life. Make sure to visit the store and cafe the church has to offer. The church also offers room rentals. I haven't stayed yet but plan to do so really soon. Hope you enjoy this place as much as i do.
Location is rural placed on a hill for views of the country side and church beautiful besides being an active parish.
Beautiful Church ⛪ My wife and I love the ride there for the fall colors
Love the view from here. And the architecture. Very peaceful place.
Always a great place to go see. Been there numerous times.
A great place for hike and to get connected with nature and history. The environment is very calming and refreshing. Climb up to the tower is very exciting and the view from the top is breath taking and breath of fresh air. Must see!
An amazing place to visit. Love the views.
The cathedral was gorgeous. Walked up to the tower and it over looked the whole valley below. Mass was great.
This place is amazing. I always come here with my Great Grandma (until she passed) and my family. I love how everything there is to know. I kept on coming back because I made memories here. This is good place to go for church, wedding, or to look to make memories of. I always keep on coming back.
I can't help but feel at ease every time I visit
Serene peaceful place beautiful hike to see all stations of cross. Love this place very peaceful and beautiful church
Went for the craft fair. What a mad house. Will not do that again
Wow! What a sight to see, even if you aren't religious. The grounds and the buildings are just stunning! I happened to go on Good Friday. There was an outdoor mass, and the place was packed! But everyone was so respectful of peaceful atmosphere. A must see for sure!
Beautiful scenery and great pumpkin chili
Beautiful experience. Such a majestic building and serene place. Such a Holy place.
This is such a lovely place. My second time visiting this church.
I go there sometimes and, as a Catholic, out of all the shrines I've been to, this is my favorite and I live 45 mins away and it is worth the drive
Love this place. Church is beautiful.
Nice church. My family goes to this church occasionally. Very amazing view.
Over the years, this has been a staple for my little family - I think we're there once every 6 weeks or so. Holy Hill offers something for everyone; religious and irreligious alike. From beautiful masses; polyphonic music, epic homilies, and recollected and reverent communion; to unparalleled vista views of the surrounding countryside, Holy Hill is serene, peaceful, and a grace-filled experience for us each and every time we go. Never regret going there for mass, confessions, or a simple picnic or hike through the woods. TIP 1: Sunday masses are preceded by confessions on the second floor. Usually, two priests are in the boxes hearing confessions for 45 minutes or so before each mass. Many people don't know about this option. It's particularly great for those thorny sins you may be hesitant to share with your local priest. I know, I know; it's not supposed to matter, but.... I guess I still battle with pride. TIP 2: There is a paved walkway with the stations of the cross, ascending the hill from the east. If the weather is good, park in the lower parking/picnic area (first small road east of the main entrance) and pray the stations of the cross all the way up. Booklets are theoretically available, but usually they are all at the top and there are none left below.
Put your walking shoes on and you will have a beautiful day. The Basilica is breathtaking. There's a cafe to grab a bite after your sojourn and plan on an hour in the gift shop. You can find a little something for everyone on your gift list. Made me appreciate my Catholicism again.
Very beautiful place , fall is the good time to visit
Such a beautiful place to see. Definately worth a stop, you won't be disappointed.
My stay was incredible..I got the old monastery to myself...Mass early am and off to family reunion and my dads funeral. What a prayerful and peaceful stay. Beats any hotel I know of.
No matter what your belief this is a beautiful place to go just very nice gift shop cafe in the summer very good food
We had a wonderful experience and perfect weather.
Such a beautiful and amazing place.
Catholic church built on top of a hill. One of the most popular spots for visitors as well as people who find this place for prayers and masses. The church is beautifully designed. The scenic tower is open to public but there is usually a line. Irish settlers established this church in the 1800s and then it's been rebuilt and renovated. There is also great hiking trails around the church and it could be a great visit for the soul and the body.
