A must see when in Hayward
If you're at all interested in fishing or just looking for something to do definitely stop here, lots of things to look at for all ages
Great place to stop and see. Admission was affordable. The kids really loved this place!
Very fun place and loads of history of fishing
Only went to the city park behind it. The fish looked impressive however.
Feels a bit dated but entertaining with lots of old motors and fishing lures and pictures and stuffed fish.
It was neat seeing all the taxidermy. Being mainly a stream trout fisherman, the variety of fish in Wisconsin's waters was educational at the museum. Good variety of poles, lures, pictures, and boat motors also.
It was pretty cool but, was expensive to get in.
Great place to view record fish. catches. Also huge collection of lures of every kind used for freshwater fishing. many old outboard motors, rods and reels. The huge musky that you can enter and walk to and stand in the mouth of and view the entire grounds with its many huge replicas of fish of is a must do. There is even a small play area for the kids. Free parking and a souvenir shop round things out
The giant fish are fun! My kids were a bit young to appreciate the exhibits so our visit was short but i think we will return in the future.
As avid fishing people we were not as excited once we got there. There were a few antique motors and lures but nothing real special.
Loved this place. So many interesting things to see. Can't wait to bring our grandkids!
Many amazing fish, motors, pictures, facts, world record fish, and more. There are also many gardens with different flowers. When in bloom they are quite wonderful.
If you're a fisherman, this is a must-see. Lots of interesting artifacts going way back. They have a mount (replica?) of Louie Spray's world record musky that's scary enough for me to never want to swim in the Chippewa Flowage where it was caught. Also personal hand-written letters from Theodore Gordon, each with a fly attached that Gordon himself tied. And where else do you get to stand in the mouth of a stories-high musky and have your picture taken?
Interesting if you like fishing, very comprehensive. Kid friendly
This place was interesting. A must see while in the area.
This is a great place!! Brought back a ton of memories!!
Very cool to walk around and look at the fish and the history.
Fun! Great place for everyone to learn more about fish/fishing!
Out of the years I lived in Hayward and moved away a friend of mine wanted to go so we went to Hayward for the weekend and we went there on Sunday my girls had a blast at the casting range and up in the musky and my friend loved it I had a blast too
Great place to show the kids LOTS of different types of wish and how it used to be done. The highlight of course was climbing to the musky's mouth.
I'm definitely not into fishing, so there is no question that those who have an actual interest will deeply enjoy this! Sculptures are great and beautifully painted. The taxidermy mounts are professionally done, and there are many impressive sizes to see. While I don't have another facility with which to compare, this one seems a bit small, overall. Other than running around the grounds and looking at all of the nicely painted oversized fish, there really is nothing for children to do. Hundreds of lures, dozens of motors, and even a few boats to check out.
Cool little museum. Easy to spend more time there than expected. There is a ton of things to look at.
Great place with lots of neat history
Fun
Cool place, kid friendly.
This place is fascinating! Highly enjoyable even if you're not into fishing.
Awesome museum with great views! 8$ admission as of June, 2017.
Awesome museum. Neat things from every type of fishing possible. Several buildings and a walk in and up through the big Musky to a beautiful lookout. Top notch. Nice tshirts too.
It does not lie about what it is so if you're not into fishing, you'd be bored af! So with that said, hubs wanted to go and show me fishing stuff and it was just that. Old motors and lures, records of certain kinds of fish caught. I didn't understand it. I was just hoping to see Disney fish like Flounder and Sebestain and Nemo and Dory. It's such a novel place but man the fish! I'm like babe, can we not he's like let me teach you how to cast? Like cast to the tv? No. He didn't get the joke but I thought it was good. I did learn how to cast after hitting the roof a few times. It was not a bad place. Just if you're not into fishing don't go.
LOVED it! Amazing place to see! Kind of pricey but worth it! Could spend hours here and we did Haha. Amazing place and definitely a must see, especially for a Fisher gal or guy or kids!
Always a good place to spend some time in friendly Hayward, Wi.
The giant musky you can go walk inside and up stairs to a porch like in its mouth with a view of the Hayward water tower. Awesome old fishing gear along the stairway inside as well as some cool Native American artifacts as well there's a second Hall and I'm building across the park with dedications to record-setting fisherman. Gorgeous Flowers and planting the along the pathways as well as Giant Sunfish crappie and bass statues that are fun to look at. They have a kid-friendly playground that was adorable complete with many fish.
Great place to find fishing history. From tackle to old boat motors and inductees into the Fishing Hall of Fame.Visit here...You won't be disappointed.
Gotta go
Kinda of lame
This was my first time to the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame. It was amazing how many artifacts they had here. If you are ever in Hayward you really need to make this a stop! You will not be disappointed.
Fun to see all the history around fishing
Have you ever had an unexplainable desire to stand in the gaping mouth of a large fiberglass fish?--Look no further!
Nice stop if you like to fish
Just okay.
Much more information than i would have ever imagined. From fishing lures, boats, first motors used to those who may have used them. Friendly staff.
Fascinating
Went for the big fish! Rest of the complex had an amazing display of fishing memorabilia. I'm not a big fisherman, but I enjoyed it.
Just a nice history about fishing stuff
Very neat and interesting place to visit.
Lots of cool historical piece and equipment, but not so fond of the $8.50 admittance fee.
Amazing local fish museum. The kids love it.
All the old boat motors and old tackle. We also enjoyed the belconey of the fish. Your museum is a must see for all whom loves fishing.
Fun for the kids to climb to the mouth of the the "big fish"
Drove from MN and the doors where locked 30 mins before they should have been very disappointed!
Expensive
Awesome place!!!
Lots of cool stuff to see
A must see for any angler!
A cornucopia of one of God's great miracles, Fishing.
The outside gardens were beautifully landscaped. Some of the exhibits were interesting, some were just meh and could use a good cleaning.
They have a fish themed playground which was perfect for little kids. The museum was a lot of fun even for someone who doesn't do much fishing.
A little pricey. If you are really into fishing you will love it.
This is a great museum and tourist attraction to come see. The fish garden is beautiful to walk around and going up and into the giant muskie gives a great view of the entire place and parts of town. In the museum part they have any fishing equipment on display that you could imagine. The exhibits range from engines and boats to rods and the largest mounts you will ever see. There is also a small park and other interactive places which makes it great for kids.
A must see in hayward! This place showed the kids the crazy BIG fish they one day could catch along with amazing history of reels, motors, rods and boats. The kids liked the casting area although they managed to cast the reels on the roof of the buildings. The look out of the muskie was exciting and also playing on the fish play ground.
The biggest muskie ever, lol
We were in Hayward for a few days. If you are okknto fishing, this is a must see!
Its a cool place if you want to learn history of fish, boats and motors... Other than the "Free Fishing" for kids, its a place I've only been to once. I will say the poor fish they have for the free fishing basically have no lips from so much catch and release, so that was really pretty sad to see. Other than that, cool place.
Awesome place have been coming here for years. 850 seems little high for what there is to see price could be lowered
I remember coming to this place as a kid! It was fun to see my children enjoy it as much as I did. Don't bother trying to fish for the pan fish they don't bite the hooks! Eat before you go in(no food inside)! Look for coupons at the local tourist information building.
Great place
Very friendly and made accommodations for us for another day
This place was incredible. It was 8$ a person which seemed a little high but was WELL WORTH IT. I got there on a Monday. Last accepted guests were at 4:00PM and only open till 4:30PM. Still worth the money. Need about 2-4 hrs to see it all... rooms of classic boat motors, lures, and impressive fish.
You can't fish, and it was in ad.
Great to see the fishing history. Kids had lots of fun running around.
I thought it was a bit pricey at first, but there's a lot to see here...
Love it! I especially love the giant fish you can walk through! Super informative and inexpensive!
The history abounds.
Cute place
This place is awesome. There is tons of old fishing gear and mounted fish replicas(I would assume) of world record fish. You have to check it out. You cannot believe how large some of those world record fish are. You can't believe they can get that big. The Giant muskie isn't that great if your an adult, but the kids will go nuts.
Very neat place with photo opportunities!
Hayward is the penultimate Wisconsin fishing destination. Built for all ages. It's a must see location.
Very cool museum! Worth it!
Awesome place for the whole family and nothing beats spring stream trout for dinner!! A must go to if your in the area! 5 stars
Fun place to visit once. Great photo opps inside. You will have more than you think you will. Can be a quick stop or a several hour thing. In the winter they put Santa and his reindeer in the mouth of the musky
Neat to see so much fishing history!
Always great to see the old lures and awesome record sized fish mounts!
Great place to go visit. My husband, our child, and myself all enjoyed it. The little play ground was a hit with our child, too. Well worth taking a detour out of our planned trip to visit.
Needs a little updating
Awesome place to visit !!!
Very cool place to check out. Beautiful gardens on the grounds with all sorts of large fish statues and you can walk through a huge muskie and stand in it's mouth. Kids of all ages were having a great time checking out the fish and the museum.
Loved it. So much to see great place to visit if you love to fish!
Even if you are not a fisherman this is a must see.
A good time for the family.
Very nice place to go
Loved all the history
Nice place to stop when pasting by.
Old and outdated, but still a good time.
Great place to visit....liked it alot....takes all day to see it all. Nice....
Diffenitly a place to visit if you like fishing history. Mostly for tourist. Lots of different fishing memorabilia.
Awesome place, lots of cool fish and fishing equipment. Had a great time with my friends.
If u love fishing and the history of old lures and boat motors my friend it is here. I wish I had this place in my back yard. Alot too look at here and actually the kids had fun here
Awesome. So interesting. Kids loved it.
Great place to be!
We had understood there would be some fun fish activities for the kids, that wasn't the case. If you love taxidermy and old fishing motors, and fishing lures, it could be an awesome experience for you. There is massive collection. it just wasn't what we were looking for.
Pretty cool place see all the cool stuff here so much to see!
Great place to take the kids
Want a fun place to visit and history about fishing and different types of gear over the years this is the place to go.
Great time with kids and picture taking
I like panfish, so I automatically liked this place, very nice.
Older place not taken care of
Very outdated. Faded handwritten signs stating “Just 30 years ago” but no date. Old mounts that were in poor shape. Lights were out in the giant Musky making the walk up the stairs dicey. Could not see anything but trees from the Musky Mouth. Over Priced....the kids did like the giant fish statues. Many ‘World Record Musky’ but no context of what made it a world record or years it was a world record..... From 7-13-2019 visit
Kinda expensive but a lot of really cool things to look at not a place to take any kids under 6
Very interesting and fun place.
Classic Americana. Tons of character.
Probably a lot more interesting for those who fish but a good tourist stop.
Beautiful museum and grounds & the staff is very friendly and helpful.
I always love to visit this place. I’ve been coming here since I was a child. Lots of cool things to look at and plenty of photo ops.!!!
Pretty neat place. Pretty cool to see all the large fish records. Dont forget about the huge muskie.
Lots to see here and enjoyed time alone with my Boyfriend Darell. Awesome pictures too Thank You Honey !!!
It was ok, lacking maintenance...
Cool place. Unfortunately it was closed in January when I stopped by on my snowmobile.
My family and I found this place very interesting! We loved seeing all the different types of fish, the world records, and the oversize fish statues!
It was a great place to learn and a family outing.
It is like looking at your Grandpas bait box. Nice place to visit with kids when its raining out
I love this place. Every fisherman will.
A good place to take the kids
Fun and interesting!
This is a must-see place for any fishing enthusiast. Though I am not an enthusiast myself, I did enjoy seeing the various collections and the world record fish. I walked away having learned a bit more about the history of fishing.
History on top of history. Plus a ton of everything for fishing and outdoor entertainment from the past to the present.
awesome place. Just in the middle of No Where.
A lot of great fishing history on display.
It was nice. Kinda smelled funny.
A great place to come and see the history of fishing. The ladies who work there are all very nice, and there's so much to see. Everyone should come here at least once.
We enjoyed checking out this museum on our trip to Hayward. What makes this place great is they let kids catch a trout for a small fee. These fish are in a little man made pond at the base of the big fish. We watched several kids catch fish and they loved it.
Giant fish. What's not to like?
A must for the avid fisherman
Future hall of Famer Mr. Jack Novak
Nice place that every fisherman should visit!
Lots to see.
Love this place!
Hours worth of cool fishing items to look at. The best part was going inside the giant musky. Clean and friendly.
Worth a stop, and kinda fun if you're a nerd like me. Large exhibit of old boat motors.
Not really my thing just went there for something to do
A fun place to take pictures
Everything you need to know about fresh water fishing In one spot and you can have pictures of yourself in the mouth of the world's biggest muskie.
This place was on the small side but interesting! If you like fish this is the place for you! If you have small children not much to do other than look at things. My child is 13 and was semi entertained. I would recommend a visit if you are in the area but would really go out of my way to visit unless I was into fish a lot more.
Interesting
It is just as the name says fresh Water Fishing stuff lures reels motors and a lot of it. Nicely displayed
Unfortunately the actual museum and the hall of fame was closed but still worth the visit to check out all of the outdoor statues. Even just looking at them from outside of the fence was cool. Hopefully I'll be back through the area and can visit when everything is open.
Loved it
Cool place. Something different to do with the kids.
Must see 4 fishermen
8.5$ curious place.
Neat little museum with lots to look at...great for little kids who love to fish!
Could have spent days in here looking at all the stuff. If you like fishing ----you will like this place!
Went just for the giant muskie but enjoyed the rest. It's a fishing museum, so adjust your expectations accordingly.
My 12 year old son wanted to stop here. He is a much more avid fisherman than myself, but none the less I enjoyed it. The highlight is the giant musky that you can walk to the top of. All of the old lures, reels and motors was lost on me however.
