Great for families and lots of history to see
Interesting and enjoyable definitely going to go back
Beautiful! Tour worthy and picturesque.
So many neat things to do! My young children loved all of the wonderful things to do here and I loved learning. Very well taken care of and has great amenities.
Love this place. So much culture that has shaped this country, and I especially love the mountain games they have every September.
Easy walking access to entire area. Places to cool off...ex: arts and crafts building.
Get time seeing the grounds. Especially fun with blacksmith.
Heritage Farm is warm, personal, and thoroughly informative. The many museums--Progress, Transportation, Heritage, the Doll museum, and the Country Store--are brimming with articles and artifacts that display the ingenuity and courage of our Appalachian ancestors. I would wager that there is no better presentation of Appalachian history anywhere! Also, the food is top notch, there is plenty of stimulating entertainment for young children and teenagers (including petting zoos, a playground, wagon rides, tomahawk throwing, and more), and the workers are kind and always willing to help. I would recommend a day at Heritage Farm to everyone!
What an amazing little gem right here in the Mountain State. Kids day was only $5 and it was worth every penny! It's like taking a trip back in time. Fun and educational!
What an amazing place! It's a hidden treasure outside of Huntington West Virginia. We attended on kids day and even though it was hot, my 4 and 5 year old grandchildren really liked it. Lots of activities. Beautiful antiques.
Fun, educational, and the people are great- I would definitely recommend visiting.
Awesome experience and great people. Loved the petting zoo, too!
Very interesting museum that focuses on regional life from 1800 to 1950. Great personal tour guides that are knowledgable, friendly, and like to spend time with you. Lots of things to do, be sure to check the website to plan your day. A little something for everyone.
Great place for a wedding.
Very nice! Husband questioned my decision to go thinking it would not be worth the drive. Changed his tune afterwards! Score: Wife wins again! Lol
For 12 years we have made Heritage Farm Museum a place to visit when in WV. Each A legacy and valuable collection of Americana. Each timeit it is a new experience. Audy and Perry family intetest shows imptovement. A Huntinggon must see for locals and visitors. Last visit was with a person from Kenya. She was so pleased to see it.
Its a great place to take the kids.
Fun with the grandkids.
Tells a great story of the past history of the area.
There is something for all ages to enjoy. I'm glad I wore comfortable shoes that could go off-road. We spent many hours walking to different buildings and exhibits, and learning from well-informed and interesting staff on hand to guide us. Enjoy a very bouncy wagon ride, narrated by a wonderful host. Good jokes and riddles! Also, a nice touch was a centrally located "vittles" shop with reasonably priced fast foods, and a separate cafe nearby for enjoying a casual sit-down meal. Loved this peace of heaven -- go with or without children and enjoy!
Great experience!
Great place to experience early american way of life.
Down a 2 lane you will find heritage farms. Plenty of parking. Welcome center and gift shop on one side small restaurant on other. Separate buildings holding different events. Everyone we met were so knowledgeable and so friendly. Hand made artisans explaining their craft. Petting zoo and thongs for children. Beautiful property Loved learning more history
Laid back
The staff was beyond helpful and nice. They went out of their way to make sure my sister and I were well informed at every stop. It started to rain while we there quite hard and we were sitting on a porch bench waiting for the rain to let up and one of the workers went and got us an umbrella. We ate at the cafe, the the thick bologna sandwich was delicious and the service excellent. We could not have had a better day!
This is a must see AWESOME place. Everyone who works here are so friendly and knowledgeable.
Fun for a day, very friendly
Beautiful place nice people fun place for family. Really enjoyed it very much.
Fun for adults and kids who are interested in looking at historical items. Hard for younger children or those who like to touch everything.
Great historic preservation site off the beaten path.
Unique gem well worth a visit. Great for families or travellers
Nice place to stop, visit, and learn.
So many new old things.
Really enjoyed the old general store and blacksmith. My kids enjoyed pretty much everything!
Was there for a wedding as my niece was getting married. The church setting was nice except for it being small for the 150 guest that arrived. The reception was held there also and the people who worked there seemed to go out of there way to make it as pleasant and experience as possible.
This place was great! There was so much to see and do. If you can get Donna to be your tour guide, you will not be disappointed. She is a hoot! Our family learned a lot from her and the other staff. It was a nearly kept property and the animals were cared for and loved. Expect to be there for 2-3 hours on a nice day and don’t forget to look for delightful Donna!
Absolutely a excellent place for a family trip or field day!
Great place to go I think every one should experience Heritage Farm
To me there was not much to do or see. I did like the old buildings and the tractor ride was okay. The playground was okay to and my grandson who is 3 had fun on it. The duck race was different, you got to pump your own water for the ducks to swim. There wasn't many animals to see. I didn't see any reason to go back.
Great place to have a wedding.
It's a wonderful place to visit!! Very family friendly! There's something for everyone. The Christmas Village was gorgeous!! Price is very reasonable. I highly recommend everyone to go!
Had a awesome time
So much fun
Hang out with the barn cat. He knows what's good.
I loved Donna
Awesome place, absolutely beautiful scenery. The buildings were so amazing. A great place to go.
Always fun and family friendly
Great place for kids on Wednesdays! Lots to do and see for the littles!
Wonderful museum!! Well worth seeing. It is difficult to describe the extent that these people have gone to create such an all encompassing historical display. There were many items that we had never seen even in other museums. We had an exceptional male tour guide.
Wonderful bit of history! A great way to spend the day
The kids learned while having fun. The petting zoo was fun and animals were friendly. The staff was awesome. And lots of interesting things to see and do.
Love!!! We always enjoy our visit!!!
It is a wonderful fun place to go for the Christmas Celebration!!
Great place to teach kid's about history.
Beautiful place to create memories.
Very interesting place. It would be a good place to take city kids...to see the kids! (Baby goats)
It was so much fun definitely well go back
Fun trip for young kids. Wagon ride, demonstrations, petting zoo, small play area.
A little pricey. But the staff was polite and it was interesting.
Great place to take the kids. The staff were great. Incredibly knowledgeable and eager to please. Great place.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! Great experience!
Awesome place, great knowledge about everything to do with the heritage around Huntington. Cool buildings and things to do for every age. Will take awhile to visit it all.
Beautiful place. Watched two performances by The Cabell Midland Collegium Musicum. Perfect way to spend a Friday night. The farm is decorated for Christmas and looks amazing. I recommend paying Heritage Farm a visit. You will not be disappointed.
Really friendly people and a really good kid friendly place
Liked this place just wish they had more evening hours so we can enjoy going more! Went on a family fun night $5 a person. My little ones loved the petting zoo, train cars/old vehicles, wagon ride, very nice gift store! Friendly staff, very good time!
Nice staff. Great varied collections of Appalachian American history and antiquity. Friendly tasty cafe. Worth the cost of admission.
So much to see and enjoy. It was so cold or we would have spent more time. Nicely decorated for Christmas and very nostalgic of years past. Kind of hard to find but once we got there we were able to leave easily.
Great day at the sheep to shawl demonstration!
Was here for a wedding!!! ABSOLUTELY gorgeous place to have one. I went through everything while I was waiting, so much to see...
The museums and artisans were amazing. It was way beyond what I had imagined. I could have spent many hours in each museum.
Absolutely love this place. Fun for the kids, lots to do and see. There is petting zoo, playground, fun museums, gift shop, cafe. We really enjoy it.
I love this place history was never my thing but I loved this!!! The ppl are so welcoming and kind
Love this place! Beautiful!
My family and I enjoyed our day. There was so much to see and do. Our guide for the covered wagon told some funny jokes. My wife and daughter thought the doll exhibit was amazing. The Artisan Cafe had good food and reasonably priced. We saw some unique animals. To cap off the day the tomahawk throw was fun. It really is a step back in time.
I absolutely love the Heritage displayed at this place! It is so great. I participate in the Mountain Games every year and enjoy it sooooo much. The museum are amazing, and the history is so clear!
Something for everyone! Lots of friendly and helpful folks there to answer your questions. Especially enjoyed the Country Store. Don't miss the Doll and Carriage Museum, something I wasn't too interested in at first; until I stopped in. All very nostalgic (soda bar, auto repair shop, etc.) with a good history of the area. Definitely, a worthwhile visit!
I absolutely loved my experience here at Heritage Farm today! I Highly recommend it to any one person or even up to whole groups can come experience what it has been like growing up and living since the 1800's. I got to go with my niece and her school today and we spent about 3 hours, which though we got to see plenty, we didn't get to see and experience it all. What we did see and get to learn and participate in, was so uplifting, reminiscing, and down right magical that they have been able to preserve time how they have. I will be going back with my son, who is 10 and my fiance. I also heard that they decorate for Christmas and have a wonderful display for all to see. Easy to find and not to far out of the town of Huntington for it to take you as far back in time as it does. Highly recommended!! Thank you Heritage Farm Staff, for your welcoming, informing, and all around wonderful service & experience you gave us all from Barboursville Elementary School's, Kindergarten classes and their chaperones!!
The staff we talked to sounded knowledgeable, but I had seen everything in about an hour. If I still had young kids it might be a higher rating, but for adults three stars are pretty generous.
Very informative guided tour with plenty of antiques to look at.
Loved looking at the antique items.. very helpful and friendly staff !
My daughter Amy and I made an adorable little basket in a class tought by Heather McComas. We had a great time and are looking forward to Heathers next basket class!!
This place is great. Lots for the kids to see and do - it has a petting zoo, a "please touch" kids museum area, an outdoor playground, several museum buildings, a train, a cafe ... everything you can think of! Free parking! The people were super friendly and helpful as well. And on Wednesdays through the summer(at least) discounted admission and added kids activities. My daughter and I really enjoyed a Wednesday spent here and I highly recommend it for families!
This is the most impressive place, knowing where and how it started just makes it that much better . Loved it.
A hidden gym of Huntington. Heritage Farm offers more than one probably remembers from their Kindergarten field trip. Festivals are seemingly year round and on site lodging is an experience unparalleled.
I've been to this place twice now and it's been pretty enjoyable both times. My kids loved being able to pet some of the smaller animals and the play structure here, while I enjoyed the tour of some of the "museums»" and the on-site blacksmith. I got to sit and chat for about twenty minutes with the smith while he worked.
Fun! Educational. My kids are never bored there. $5 Kids Days are affordable. Reasonably priced lunch options.
A wonderful taste of history. A great place for learning opportunities for children young and old. Great collection of history.
Very friendly staff and fun for both adults and kids
Loved it
Nice facility for a wedding/reception.
The kids loved it! It was extremely hot but a lot of air conditioned buildings. We plan on going back in the fall.
Wonderful field trip with third grade students!
Such a great place to visit with your family. The kids would love the petting zoo.
Wonderful atmosphere that steps back in time showing visitors what it was like during days long gone.
Fun and interactive experience with an educational focus!
So much fun
Most of the exhibits were closed despite an entry fee.
Great place not just for kids but people of all ages.
My granddaughter loved Heritage Farms. Grandma and Grandpa loved all the different museums. The petting zoo was a big hit. We will be going back for another visit!
Wonderful guide
For a trip down memory lane, this is a good way to spend the afternoon. Friendly staff and good accommodations.
A great place to learn about the past.
Really nice place to visit.
We used Harvest Host program here. The farm is lovely and we met a lovely lady walking a horse in the morning on our way out. Unfortunately, our travel schedule didn’t allow us to do any tours but we were so very grateful they allowed us to Camp in their beautiful serene field! The night sky was amazing!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Nice outdoor museum to take kids. I would like to return on a cooler day and spend more time there. I wouldn't go on very warm days since you are outside a lot.
What a great place to visit to get hands on with history.
Great family experience and still growing
An amazing day here! We went during the civil war themed weekend. Live blacksmithing! Only thing that would have made it better would have been Information to enroll in blacksmithing classes. Definitely recommend for a day out with the family! Many things to do even with younger kids.
Friendly staff and tons of fun stuff to look at it and do. Perfect place for a wedding
This place has things for everyone to see and do. It is kid friendly with a lot of fun learning activities plus a lot of things for adults to see and learn, plus accessibility for handicapped. Love it, will definitely be going back.
This little gem is a bit out of the way, but our family really enjoyed it. Very interesting and informative, about life in early Appalachia. Very friendly staff, open to conversation. Answered every question we had with a smile.
Went there for homeschool day and let me say OMG. This place is amazing!!!! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The performances are so true to era, culture. I highly recommend you take your family there for any event they are having.
Awesome place
Lovely place. So interesting and educational. Something for all ages. Volunteers are very informative.
This place is absolutely amazing
We stayed in the Blackberry Inn. Beautiful large cabin, for our wedding anniversary. Huge master bedroom w private bath. Beautiful large ceiling beams. The upstairs loft will sleep 6 in the 3 queen beds, w 2 more baths downstairs, includes laundry room w everything you need. Given my hx of asthma, I was very pleased w only faint odor of mustiness (it's a cabin!), didn't cause me any problems. Cabin was immaculate, filled w antiques and nice comforts of home. Tours of Heritage Farm n "hanging out" was relaxing. Perfect weather in August. Going to do it again soon!
It is a great place to learn about how the people who settled the wv, ky, oh tri-state lived. So many well presented artifacts that spark the imagination of life in the near past. It still blows my mind to think that my fathers generation went from dirt roads and horse drawn transportation to jets and spacecraft. Great reminder of where we came from. The folks who run this are friendly and try hard not to make your visit a dry trip to a museum.
This is a hidden gem in Huntington. This place has plenty to see and do for kids and adults. The staff was so friendly and willing to give their historical knowledge, i was impressed. This is a great nostalgic village that really gives you a sense of the good ole days but with fun activies for the kids. We didnt get to sit down for a meal in the kitchen which looked good, but did have some excellent home made icecream. The church is beautiful and said that they hold weddings and events in there. You can also rent some of the cabins to stay in which i thought was a great idea. The petting zoo is great and the kids play area is awesome. We plan on making a day trip to Huntington for Christmas to see it all lit up.
Awesome place.
Wonderful place to take the family for a fun history adventure.
Great place for families to spend a day or a weekend. Many enjoyable and educational things to see and do.
What a wonderful place! Heritage Farm Museum and Village is a truly amazing place. Picturesque, friendly staff, great food, and wonderful activities, what more could you want? Open weekdays and Saturdays, with special Wednesday Kids Days and Way-back Weekends.
Amazing living history right here in Huntington West Virginia. I can not stress enough what a wonderful and unique place this is. It not only preserves so many parts of our shared history. It builds these items into a 4 dimensional story board for us to immerse your self. The Perry family has created an amazing space. One of my favorite ways to experience Heratige Village is the first weekend in May where every inch come alive with historic re-enactments. Come interact with old time saw mills, black smiths, potters and so much more. An amazing time for the whole family.
Cool place to visit..
Interesting and educational. Numerous buildings from a variety of places have been relocated here to show visitors what one might have seen in a late 19th century agricultural setting.
First time visitor today. I really enjoyed myself. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Thank you for honoring us Veterans today by offering free admission. It is much appreciated!
If u love history then here's your place
Awesome place. Take the kids. They will love it.
Cost was high. Was not an ice cream social just ic for sale. Dis appointing.
Fun place
Wonderful little place that is very educational. I feel the ticket prices are fair and they have a little place that you can get food if you are hungry. It's more like a home kitchen with a bar to sit at than a restaurant.
So much to see. Staff was excellent. Highly recommend.
Fantastic place for family time
This is such a great place both from a historical and educational perspective. I love watching the lumber mill and the blacksmith shop. We've stayed in a couple of the cabins and they were both excellent. I highly recommend this place for anyone any age.
Awesome.
Our grandgirlies, ages10 and 4, had a great time and didn’t want to leave. Plenty to keep every age occupied and happy. 4 year old loved “milking” the “cow”, a cow statue that’s “milkable” for learning. Both were fascinated with the bees and loved the doll museum. There’s a playground made of the six simple machines, so they were learning while playing, too. So much to keep adults happy in the several museums. Unbelievable collections of antiques from rakes and washing machines to cars and dolls. Bed and breakfast housing scattered through the farm, too. We love it!!
Very family friendly and something for everyone!
Beautiful place
