As you know, we do not usually bother to set feddbacks when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Tourist Attraction is included in the category of State park.
Beautiful place! West Virginia is my home State.
Beautiful place, nice people. Advertised a festival was going on down by the river, but nothing was going on but the usual boat rides.
Great place to visit the outdoors. You can get to the main overlook easily, it's about a 200 foot walk from the parking lot on a fairly even surface. There is a small set of stairs down to the overlook but there are railings. If unable to do stairs or handicapped you could easily take photos from the top and enjoy the view.
Nice park, beautiful view of the new River. Also have some trails were you can enjoy the local nature. They offer also a cable car (8 USD), but beware that the operation depends on good weather. They don't operate under storm/strong winds. In the lower part it is possible to get a jetboat to see the new river bridge from bellow (29 USD and include a round trip in cable car).
Pretty Park, well maintained, better than Babcock.
We enjoyed our visit! It’s a beautiful park! Staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful! Love that everything in your room has come from West Virginia! From soap to coffee!! Great idea!! Can’t wait to go back!! Would love to see the park with the fall leaves!
Scenic and beautiful!! Everytime I visit family in WV, I go here. The drive up is one of the prettiest. Waterfalls on the way are beautiful. I hope to stay in the park one day and take a hike or 2.
Great and friendly staff.. spectacular canyon views.. peaceful romantic getaway.
Great boat ride to see New River Gorge Bridge.
We came to Fayetteville for a family get together. We made a quick stop here after a day of hiking in the area. We were already pretty tired and hungry by the time we made it here, so we just took a quick stroll and enjoyed the views. There's a very short loop and in the middle of it, there's some pretty good views of the dam, the mountains, and the railroad tracks. I'm not sure what else this park has to offer, but I think it's at least worth stopping by to enjoy the view.
Hawks Nest State Park has nature in its favor. The cable ride down into the gorge to the river is lots of fun as was the boat tour. The swimming pool was clean and the facility overall was reasonably well maintained. Our room had chips on the floor leftover from previous guests. The dining room was spacious but because they do not serve dinner, we were forced to drive several miles to and from off-site restaurants. The atmosphere is quiet and casual. It could have been romantic but for having to go off-site for evening meals. This facility has a lot of potential that I encourage the state of West Virginia to take advantage of.
There's a small part of the park where you can pull over and has a great viewing area with the binoculars. The view was amazing. There's a small gift shop and a bathroom on the other side of the road
Very nice spot to look over the Gauley River. Breathtaking views giving you a panoramic view of the Gauley River while giving you a bit of history. Gift shop was very quaint and had nice options to choose from along with drinks and snacks. Public restrooms to use is a great addition. Old museum in the back is now closed though, was really looking forward to that as well. This is definitely a must see!
You can hike, take the tram to the river (if open) or enjoy the scenery and see hawks fly. Ok gift shop. Not far from Mystery Hole you have to explore.
A beautiful area and lookout over the River. A truly "must see" area of WV to visit.
This park is one of the most scenic drives in the state. Waterfalls line the road, plenty of mountainous terrain and beautiful overlooks. The park itself has a picnic area, restrooms, a small shop, and a large parking area. There are wooded trails to walk or a magnificent view of the mountains and new river.
Nice place to stop for a visit. We rode the tram and jet boat. Very nice experience!
This place is beautiful and you're ever by there go!!!!
Great lodge...the room we stayed in was very large and had a balcony over looking the gorge lake. We took the tram down to the bottom and then caught the lake/river boat cruise to the bridge. Really lovely and a great price for the cruise and the room. The restaurant offers a menu and buffet with a beautiful view of the river.
Greats rooms good service great price
Views from the room are amazing, such a quiet place.
Did a quick visit. Nice overlook.
Natural beauty everywhere you turn. Plenty of photo opportunities at several well planned overlooks. Great family friendly picnic areas and a cute little gift shop to purchase a cold soda.
A beautiful park with a fantastic staff and great meals at the restaurant, too. Beautiful scenery all around.
A vacation with no destination. Found so many amazing places. This was one of the best. Beautiful!!! Terrific gift shop with excellent service.
Ate a a restaurant there. Delicious food. Friendly waitress. Exquisite mountain and New River Gorge view.
This is a good place for taking the family for a long weekend. The only thing that would make it better would be a lack of cell service.
A super amazing getaway on the New River! This place is a hidden little gem. I was super impressed with how clean everything was. The landscaping was immaculate! Everything was just perfect. I have never seen a state park maintained to such perfection. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was delicious and such an amazing view! Ms. Sue and Rick down on the jet boat are both super nice and Rick tells some great stories and jokes on the tour. The trails range from easy wide paths good for the entire family to more technical single person wide hikes. I liked both. Check this place out, I can't wait to go back!
Beautiful park with awesome scenery. Be sure to check out the views from inside the info center. Parking is free, and there is a helpful guide inside that is friendly and willing to answer questions. Oh motorcycle friendly too.
We had dinner at the Vista at Hawks Nest State Park. It was delicious. We had the sirloin dinner. All of the dinner staff were very nice and professional. Hawks Nest has made some major changes and is a wonderful place to visit.
Hawks Nest is a small state park with trails, picnic area and overlooks of the New River Gorge. Also a lodge and restaurant we did not try out. We enjoyed the views. We would have taken the gondola ride down into the gorge but alas we visited on a Wednesday, the day they close it down each week for maintenance.
Liv down the road Love it very pretry scenery
One of the most scenic parks in the n all of West Virginia! The drive to the park is very picturesque.
Beautiful views! They have covered shelters for outdoor functions, a wedding the day we visited this year. A hotel, restaurant, picnic area, boat trips, and lift rides are available
My family loves this place, lots to do and see. I will return, stay and do more next time.
Absolutely beautiful. Breathtaking views.
Beautiful park, although on this day we did not see any hawks.
A Favorite spot of mine all summer for weekend drives and a nice hike. Especially during fall leaf viewing season.
Great Overlook and Relaxing Spot to Recharge during a Long Drive or as a Destination.
It was fun. It was what we were expecting. Great restaurant.
I would have really liked to give them a 5 star or 10 of 10, but there are a few reasons not to. The main thing is the road that you will have to travel to get here, if you are in something that is a low riding vehicle use extreme caution. The road has big rocks and pot holes the size of a tire. The edge is very steep and no buffer. Constantly get harrassed by fish and game, park service. Other than this a nice place for the family, especially kids the water is real shallow for a good distance out, 2ft maybe. Who knows you may even get a chance to see some eagles, just like this juvenile bald I managed to get a quick shot of.
Pretty place to visit. Overlook is big
I love nature so this is a great place to be!
Absolute gem in the heart of a beautiful part of West Virginia. I had wanted to visit the New River Gorge for a long time and this was a great place to start!
So down to earth literally. Beautiful to visit and great weather.
Very nice quiet place to visit. Call ahead though to see if the ride down to the river for the boat ride is open. It's only open certain days in September. The view from our room was beautiful.
Very nice, friendly staff, kind and considerate, good food.
It's a great stopping point on your travels through WV. Very clean restrooms. There is an overlook that can be done in a few minutes, or hiking trails and other activities (tram, boats, kayaks) a minute down the road if you plan to spend the whole day.
Hawks Nest is always a good memory for us. Great views, nice and quiet, all within hiking, rafting, riding and more. I'd rather patronize this place that has been around forever and helps the state parks and not the big corporate hotels that have moved in on the gorge. Say hello to Steve at the front desk! Nice guy and knows the area well.
Where else can a girl tinkle in a Castle?!? Seriously tho, one of my favorite places. Absolutely breathtaking in the fall.
Beautiful scenery and wildlife. The lodge was really nice as well. Staff were very friendly.
Spectacular place with nice views mountain and river !!!
Love this state park.
Had a good stop at the Hawks Nest, great views, nice shelter house, good gift shop and restrooms and a ski lift ride to the bottom of the valley. Had a great time and awesome experience! 5 stars!!
First time visiting, and I was in awe of the natural beauty... Lovely place to hike!
A neat state park. There's honestly not much to it as far as hiking goes that we could tell. The bathrooms are plumbed in and in a cool circular building. The very short trail across the street from the bathrooms and gift shop had a beautiful view. The gift shop had souvenirs and local stuff like jam and honey. If I were back in the area I'd stop here again.
Beautiful views of the New River Gorge.
Beautiful. Words cant begin to describe how beautiful it is.
This is an older state park but a gorgeous area to be around for a viewing the mountains and river hiking and just plain relaxing
Nice stare park! We enjoyed the EV charging while here. Thanks!
The view from the overlook was pretty but unless you ride the tram down, there's not much to do or look at. One side note...they looked like they had a decent children's park.
We really like this one. Had our best hike and saw amazing views everywhere.
Good rooms with great views! Decent prices and good food in the restaurant. Highly reccomend. Have stayed twice and loved it both times!
The staff here were the friendliest i have ever encountered. There is a tram ride down to the river and a boat ride by a very cool guy. A nice gift shop and rooms to rent. Just an all around awesome experience
I love the rail trail and staying at the lodge and having a good cup of coffee out on the balcony in the morning. Hard to top
Staff was all super friendly and accommodating! One of the most beautiful views I've ever seen from a hotel room! Cozy, large rooms that have many amenities. I strongly recommend this place to anyone that wants to see a little piece of heaven on earth in West Virginia!
Beautiful area,wonderful people,adventure galore
Always a good way to kill a day. The state park offers a military discount to ride the tram and for the Jet boat ride. The Captain that operates the jet boat has been doing the tour for as long as I can remember. The jet boat and tram is a little expensive in my opinion. Hawks nest offers great scenery for taking family photos. The famous lover's leap over look is right beside the tram and is about 150 steps over the hill.
Beautiful and nice clean place
Awesome place to escape.
Jet boat ride was awesome driver and attendent was super
Great state park. Jet boat rides, tram rides, mini golf. Great time!
A beautiful state park with some great hiking trails. The jet boat ride is a must!
Beautiful views! Nice find to stretch our legs on a long road trip.
Very beautiful. Unfortunately the tram ride was down so we will have to go back and experience it.
Beautiful, breath-taking views lots to do!! Make sure if your in that area make sure to check out the mystery hole......you won't regret it
This place is why it's called "almost heaven" West Virginia
Very nice place and friendly staff. Beautiful scenery.
Awesome family visit.
One of the best state parks I have been to. Beautiful views, lots of things to do, restaurant and an inn.
Great views of the river, very clean and well kept up.
Beautiful there !!! I love the view !!! Highly recommend !!! ♥️♥️♥️
Great place to chill enjoy ur friend
It is a very nice place to visit. I especially enjoyed riding the tramway! The have a small wildlife artifact exhibit to see as well.
Very nice views, clean restrooms, the tram is a must. Every staff member I interacted with was very friendly and very informed about the area.
Honestly...there wasn't much to do here during the off-season (went in mid-April). The gift shop was closed, and the tram and jet boat rides did not run. The overlooks of the river were pretty, but the Lovers Leap trail was difficult to find (hint: look to the right and behind the lodge), and it was actually rather treacherous as it looked like nothing had been maintained since it was built. If you're looking for good views of the New River, then I'd suggest visiting the New River Gorge National River.
Pretty, not a lot to do here. Ski tram to the bottom & a speed boat trip. Starting at $25.
Friendly staff cool activities and very reasonable prices no big crowds
It's a wonderful place to go to. The overlook is breath taking. A nice gift shop, also very nice dinning room, also with a great overlook down in the gorge. Also a nice Lodge. I'll be going back, loved it
Great farm to table dinner there. The pulled pork was mediocre, but everything else was great.
Cool place to raft and speed boat tour
Not very clean...overpriced...staff is great and very friendly
Beautiful place!! I do wish they had more signs to let you know where to go or where the overlooks are but that's there way to get though through the doors right.. lol the lift is operational but only during season we were told may 4th
You'll love the view
Always such a great place to go out and explore on a nice day! Thanks to the staff for keeping it clean and maintained. Check out Lover's Leap for a great view!
Some of the most beautiful views of this great state of West Virginia.
Quirky old genuine river jet boat captain, 50 year old cast iron sky tram, expansive vista views, crazy cat walk walk under the third highest bridge in u.s. (nearby), excellent trails, safe, clean, wild.
Very interesting state park with several picnic and hiking offerings but is looking a little shabby...
Love visiting here, the place is just absolutely gorgeous! Public restrooms and a large picnic shelter, always a look forward to coming here.
Beautiful, as always! Lots of outdoor adventures to be found here, as well as a great lodge.
I love this park so much. Drove all around today looking for the perfect spot for my wedding.
Beautiful, has interesting attractions, wish for a better choice of restaurants.
Beautiful park, worth going to.
Lovely views and a quiet place to unwind with family, with trails, a tram, and even a jet boat ride if desired. My kids enjoyed the tram and gift shops! And they enjoyed the view, as did I. I will be back to try the trails...
Beautiful room with amazing views. The staff was really friendly and went above and beyond with their service. The restaurant had great views as well as fantastic food and service. We were planning to only stay one night, but extended our stay an extra night because we enjoyed it so much.
The park itself was ok, but the Lodge wasn't that great. The sheets were clean and the water hot, but the rooms are far from sound proof and I could tell they were skimping on repairs, as the rooms were quite out-dated. Id give the park 4-stars, and the lodge just 2.
A beautiful scenic park in WV. Plan a whole day to go there, you won't be disappointed.
Great place for a day trip from Charleston. You can pack a lunch or eat at the restaurant. Take a tram ride into the gorge and a ride on a jetboat. See the New River Gorge bridge from water level.
