It is probably quite beautiful. However; we experienced a 4.5 hour delay after a tractor trailer had an accident. We prayed for all involved.
Beautiful park adjacent to the zoo. Driving through reminded us of driving through the Smokies. We plan to explore it more the next time we visit DC.
Beautiful overlook of the Cheat River Gorge!
Love bouldering here... nice overlook and picnic area. Good camping nearby at chestnut ridge
Very clean park. Nice place to go
Nature's beauty says it all. Well-marked trails to sites, camping, and picnic areas.
Coopers Rock State Forest is a beautiful place. If you like hiking, there are endless trails and caves to explore. Cooper's Rock has a spectacular view overlooking the Cheat River & surrounded by mountains. It's surrounded by breathtaking scenery. I can't wait to go back!
Cool spot on the Gorge!! Giant rock overlooking the valley, great spot for taking pics, hikes, and picnics. Nice Saturday family outing.
Gorgeous view, many trails, great for the low key or adventurous walker. Love that they had a play area/jungle gym for kids. We spent several hours there and had a great time.
Cooper's is a great day trip for anyone looking to get away from the everyday bustle for a little bit. There is great hiking, amazing climbing, beautiful overlooks, and plenty of picnic spots.
One of my favorite places to visit near Morgantown
Nice little hike very rocky though. Great overview of the cheat river valley at the end.
Best place to go bouldering in the area with the shortest hike in I've ever experienced! 5-10 minutes on a trail and you are at the boulders.
Beautiful untouched forests, easily accessible to the inexperienced outdoorsman
Take me home Country Roads. Loe WV.
This park was HUGE. We were in traveling West Virginia and thankfully heard about this from the locals. It has the most amazing overlook, and the whole park is extremly clean, I loved it here.
This is one of my favorite places to mountain bike. The trails are fast and fun, and by fun, I mean gnarly. Plus there are cool features like the stone furnace, the lake, camping, and more. There are a lot of hikers as well. I drive over five hours to get there and it is worth it. Great place for anyone who loves the outdoors.
Beautiful spot to visit and explore. The overlook and raven's rock are the most popular places photographed in the park, but there are so many other great trails to explore. Definitely make a plan to visit if you haven't before (preferably during spring/summer/fall when the colors are at their best).
Beautiful and I'll be happy to make the ride again. My girlfriend and I rode up and walked the overlook trail and underlook trail and it was very nice. Nice place for the family thing....loved it
Great place all around, lots to do in the area. We always have a great time when we visit.
I love Coopers Rock. Trails are wonderful. The campground is well maintained. I would give it 10 stars if they had water and sewage on sites.
Beautiful view!! Great hiking opportunities.
Would love to go back again!
Wonderful place to hike. I went here in the winter, when the road to the top was closed due to snow and ice. I parked and made the 3 mile hike. The snow covered terrain, with varying shadows cast by intermittent sun through the clouds, was mesmerizing and awe inspiring.
Great place to see. Camping, hiking, trails. 5 stars!
One of my most favorite places to visit when I'm in West Virginia. Beautiful and serene
Great place to take the family for a grill day, handicap accessible. Trails, play ground bathrooms, gift shop.
The access to the bouldering here is so easy, plentiful parking and very close to camping.
Loved it here. The trails are beginner to difficult. Great views here!
Been going there since i was little. It's a wonderful place to spend time with family and to get some exercise.
Cooper's Rock State Forest is a must if your in the Morgantown/ Bruceton Mills area! The overlook gives you a view of the Cheat River and WV's beautiful mountains. There are 2 pavilions, trails, playground, restrooms, trading post, and a campground on site. It's definitely worth the trip to see one of the reasons West Virginia is almost heaven!!!
This is one of my favorite state parks/forests. I visited here frequently in college and loved showing my son my old stomping grounds. We explored the area for a few hours and had a great time!
I loved this park as a child and I love it as an adult!
Great location for hiking and family picnic gatherings
Beautiful view, easy parking, nice gift shop..just lovely
Great hiking! Beautiful views. Raven rock trail is the best view in my opinion.
So quite, pretty and green. You can see forever..
We only went to the overlook close to the trading post due to lack of time. It’s so beautiful and there are so many trails. Hoping to be back in Spring for a full day.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time as our family went camping at Coopers Rock. My niece didn’t know what it was like to be surrounded by mountains, so we stuck her in the Appalachians for a week. She was greatly impressed. Also, it was the first time our son had ever gone camping. He had a blast! Nice clean campsites, helpful camp staff. Hope to return again soon!
Gorgeous. Great hikes.
Planning to visit again soon.....so much mountain to enjoy
We stayed at the rhododendron campsite (for tents), the bathroom was not lit, the toilet kept running, and when your first trip to it was at 11 o’clock at night, it looks like something out of a horror film. Some of the hikes were not clearly labeled, turned around multiple times for going the wrong direction. That being said, there were several positive aspects to this place. Such pretty views and the staff was AWESOME
I went there my cousins wedding, the area was nice.
This view never ceases to amaze me. Very clean park with tons of great trails and outdoorsy activities.
Love this place. Many trails and a very picture perfect place to be.
It's a perfect weekend getaway from Pittsburgh! Just an hour and a half drive. It has nice facilities, nice view of the valley, playground. Also there is cool spot for rock climbing and it's perfect for beginners and intermediate climbers. Also not too crowded. Cheat lake is close by with good Marina! Plenty of stuff to do during spring, summer and winter!!
Amazing views, seriously such a place worth visiting! I wish I would have gotten photos of the top of the mountain! Completely amazing views! The trails all over were amazing! This is totally a place that you meed to visit if ever driving through!
Loved going here! I love the variety of trails and the history behind the area! Definitely check out the old iron furnace!
Great place to hike around with both easy and slightly more difficult trails. More bathrooms would be nice
One of the best bouldering destinations in WV! Mostly moderates with a few testpieces. Some day kinda sandbagged, but who cares? Go climbing! Have fun!
This is possibly the best view I have seen.
Awesome place to hike and enjoy scenic views. There is a rock climbing area and miles of hiking trails. Great place to bring family for picnics or to take people on hiking or walks. They reintroduced rattlesnakes here so be mindful were you step and don't stray off the beaten path without acknowledging the risks. Unlike copperheads rattle snakes can kill you pretty quickly too. Also sometimes can have a mean temper so just be mindful. The sunset from the overlook is beautiful. The pavillions are nice to rent out from family reunions, birthdays, or what have you. Also very neat gift shop with essentials just remember they close at 5pm I believe. So get there before too late in the even. The staff here are very nice and do a good job keeping the grounds nice and neat. My only complaint is it gets crowded on nice days more so at the over look than anything.
Absolutely breathtaking views! Just wish I had longer to explore.
Good hiking trails through lush forests. Quite and serene.
I was there for the first time today with my boyfriend and it took my breath away! Such an amazing and beautiful state park! Will definitely go back!
Wow. The view here was phenomenal! I wanted to gaze out at the trees forever. I enjoyed the trails here also. I'll be returning when I'm back in West Virginia.
So close to Morgantown and PA border. Plenty of levels of hikes to do and varying levels of seclusion. Offers places for bouldering, mountain biking, hiking, trail running, and cross-country skiing during the winter. Easy to get to off the highway and beautiful place all year round.
Awesome place to ride mtb, hike, and explore!
Had such a great time here. The view was spectacular! The trails were nice and the drive from Pittsburgh wasn’t bad at all (about an hour). We will definitely be coming back.
Beautiful views, lots of picnic areas. If you are coming for the eco statues they all returned to the earth a couple years ago. Wish the gift shop were open more hours.
Beautiful forest, we enjoyed it even in the rain.
Fantastic views here. Made the over two hour drive a second and a third time! Certainly will again.
We stopped at the rest stop and the view is just breath taking.
Good place to Hike and Camp nice place to get away too
Visit the overlook for the obligatory selfie or family photo. It's why they call WV Almost Heaven. Wild & Wonderful.
Beautiful and well cared for park rich in history. Wonderful park staff and the trails are great for family hikes and the views......wow!
Although Coopers Rock is an awesome place to visit for a day trip, it was a TERRIBLE place to tent camp. Too many people riding their mountain bikes right through our campsite (campsite #12 at Rhododendron Campground, which looked like the nicest one there) and being absolute jerks about it. No privacy at all because tents were too close to the road. And although there were so many patrols by park personnel during the day that we felt we were under surveillance, there were apparently none at all after dark, when a nearby group of loud drunks raged all night long. Luckily for me I had my ear plugs with me so was able to sleep. Others in my party weren't so lucky. NEVER AGAIN.
Was first date,I fell in love there with a beautiful woman walking beautiful mt. trails. That was 7 yrs ago and we still go and camp there every year.
Beautiful Park tons of trails
Love the views all year long great trails and camping here is always fun
Beautiful view with a canopy of trees for miles ! There are also picnic tables public restrooms and a souvenir shop.
Breathtaking views! If you need a break from all that uphill/downhill hiking then this is the place to go. Any easy trail that leads out to the overlook and is flat. Dogs are permitted but keep leashed as it has drop offs and of course rattle snakes are known to be in this area so stick to the trail. There is a gift shop here and you can get snacks as well. Picnic areas throughout. Just a short 3 miles off of the highway brings you to the overlook parking area.
I absolutely love it here. Always plenty of places to explore
Definitely one of the nicest State Parks in the upper eastern'ish area. There are ample camping areas, cabins for those who don't like to camp, but do enjoy the outdoor'sy experience! Gift shop available, plenty of grills in the picnic area too. Perfect place for family reunions or other occasions when entire families get together for rare, momentous celebrations marking life milestones!! There are a wide variety of trails for the serious hiker or for leisurely strolls which are clean and we'll marked to prevent getting lost!! I highly recommend ALL folks in the area to take advantage of this AWESOME State Park that Boasts an elevation of just over 2,000ft. The Rock City trail is so awesome and definitely unique as the trail runs along a VERY LARGE CREVAS with huge boulders all around on the one of a kind trail!! This over 12k acre State Forest that includes Cooper's Rock is so large it includes Monongalia and Preston Counties. The main overlook which is ADA compliant sits at 2,064 Ft. above sea level and has Breath-takingly 360° views of the Historic Cheat River Canyon.
What a gem. The biking here is great. Grab a map and get busy
Great place to take the family you don't have to pay plenty of places to cookout and have a picnic some areas have grills
State Forest with plenty of of trails and scenic overlooks. Unfortunately, the trails are poorly maintained.
My favorite place to go hiking or just to be in the woods, ever part of coopers rock is beautiful
Enjoy a beautiful day with the fam, the trail are so clean and perfect
Quiet, clean! For a state park a little expensive.
Gorgeous and well maintained. Trails are beautiful and well marked, and have good parking.
It's beautiful and free to visit.
It's a great hiking, spot, with great views if you go to the look out. However its a popular spot, and can get a little crowded on weekends. If your more interested in getting away from people. Your better off with Ohiopyle.
Once you visit here you will inevitably find your way back. A near and dear stop for WVU travelers and explorers. Offers excellent trails and amazing top rope climbing opportunities.
beautiful place to take the family and feel the power of the rolling mountains of West Virginia
Fairly easy stone or paved walkway (depending on the path you choose) to a gorgeous scenic view. Many trails and picnic areas available.
Such a fun day trip! We live southeast of Pittsburgh and love taking our pup here any time of year.
My favorite place in WV for camping.
Today we walked the Hemlock Trail along Little Laurel Run and enjoyed a cool and shady stroll through the old growth hemlocks. The water was beautiful and must provide a nice break for hikers during hot summer weather.
The leaves were gorgeous. Fun hiking and scrambling trails.
My boys and I love come coming here to hike! The overlook is gorgeous. Plus Cheat Lake is right there for swimming and boating.
Beautiful overlook and plenty of trails and wildlife.
Great trails and even greater overlook! This stop is a must on your way through Morgantown WV!
Always a fun time getting to hit the trails. Well maintained area, just watch out for Rattlers
Amazing. Beautiful. Leaves you speechless. Go here atleast once a month.
Love this place . It's a great place to camp , hike and mountain bike riding. Had a wonderful time here.
Beautiful lookouts! The park store had more than reasonable prices and the staff there were very helpful in giving us hiking options
Be safe and have a great time
beautiful views from overlook... great trails
A great place to take your family and see nature at it's best. I would live there if they would let me.
A have to see state forest. With many different overlook, picnic areas and rock climbing areas it's hard to decide the best but If you can only see one thing do ravens rock overlook trail. The walk is medium to easy difficulty level but the reward is worth much more!!
Great forest, be aware of rattlesnakes if you take the trail, cought us by surprise.
It's the great Park with wonderful trails, great spot for bouldering as well as rock climbing
This campground doesn’t have water at each site and doesnt really advertise that. The campground is not laid out nor set up for 30 ft or larger campers. The turns between rows are very tight and too many trees or big rocks prohibit adequate space to maneuver into the sites. Pull throughs are very short. The young lady at the campground office was super nice and went out of her way trying to move us to a workable site.
Nice place to visit. 2 camps McCollum has electric hook ups and wifi, and Rhodendron is primitive with picnic tables and fire ring. Nice's views and hiking trails. Big play area for kids.
Had a wonderful day with my family at Cooper's Rock in my beautiful home state. Had a great time rock climbing, hiking, and enjoying amazing breathtaking views. Would definately come back and reccomend it for others.
My family and I come here EVERY YEAR. It's our favorite place to visit and the area is a great stay. My husband and I hope to move to the Bruston Mills area. So peaceful!
The Hosts were great! Very friendly and kept everything the way it should be. The park is neat and it was a clean camping experience. Granted we had a camper and didn't really use the facilities for the shower or restroom. The playgrounds were neat and tidy. The lookout scared me to death bc of my fear of heights. But it was gorgeous. Definitely would come back and recommend. The only complaint would be the hours of the small shop. We needed something "stupid" but had to go out to the larger trading post to get it bc the small shop didn't open until 4pm. But we survived, lol.
Amazing experience. Awesome view and beautiful scenery.
Great place to go hiking. Very scenic place with great overlooks.
Great views and very tranquil
Beautiful place to go walking on a late summer day.
Clean park with good trails. If your a mountain biker be advised the trail difficulty is generally high. However, there are also some amazing sections of singletrack and downhill.
A plethora of outdoor opportunities exist at coopers. Whether you just want to drive up and have a short walk out to a beautiful clifhanger overlook or you want to hike over 5 miles of mountainous terrain coopers has what you're looking for. Bike riding, bouldering, rock climbing, fishing, hunting, and pretty much anything else you could want to do in the great outdoors, coopers is there for you
Cool on a warm spring day.Hole different place than were I lived for 60 years.Mostly younger people can enjoy the top.I like the cool.
Lived near the park for a couple of years. Amazing and diverse biking trails with beginner to difficult level trails. Just be careful after it rains because they can get pretty slippery. There are sometimes fallen trees on the trails because of weather and it may take them a while to clear them, but do your part by keeping them clean! Hiking trails are very scenic and it's easy to spend hours on them especially in the rock formations. Never been skiing, but they have ski trails there. Great place to visit. I've been going there for years and will continue to go there for years to come.
Beautiful views, kids loving playing on the rocks, watch out for snakes! If your hungry grab a hotdog from the concession stand the prices will shock you!
Amazing spot for bouldering. I was honestly blown away by the number of established climbs and boulders in CRSF. Highly recommend getting the Falcon Guide for this area.
Peaceful, well maintained, plenty of parking and the views are stunning. If you need to clear your mind and have some quiet time this is the place to go.
Beautiful beautiful landscape in awesome lakes
One of my favorite places. Love the view
5 out of 5. The trails were Incredible, we did 3.22 miles here. And walked most of the rattlesnake strail, and there are so many cool, little rock caves along the way. It was a great time.
It's quite the hike but totally worth it! The views you get from this place are just absolutely breathtaking. This is a huge forest and there are a lot of activities to do.
Nice trails and overlooks. Really enjoyed the Clay Furnace and Raven's Rock trails.
I hiked to the over look. It is very scenic. However, it is a up and back trail.
popular place for sunset photography
Beautiful place but restrooms suck! Rustic in the true sense of the word.
The freedom that this beautiful place provided for my wife and I was an "Out of This World" experience. Everybody should visit
I love this place. Beautiful campsites, hiking trails, scenic views. The air feels so fresh and clean
Worth a small trip just to look over. Or make a day and hile the trails. Awesome
Great hike with the little ones. FYI..backpack full of light snacks, water, bugspray, and map...good to go. No place better on a sunny day. Trails are clearly marked...but not all loop back so be careful.
Totally worth a stop. The views are amazing. Driving through was fun too.
Beautiful park but is not handicap accessible to people who those who need it besides the parking lot.
Facilities are well-maintained and the view is breathtaking 365 days a year
It is a beautiful place to hang out! There are different walking trails and paths. If you go there during fall time... the view is amazing!
This is a very relaxing place, highly recomended
The overlook is a beautiful sight to behold
Great picnic site. Take a hike put to rock city, and test your climbing skills; test your luck slithering through tight crevices, or your nerve, entering into cavernous tunnels. Walk to the famous overlook and enjoy West Virginia scenery at it's finest. There are lots of hiking trails and a primitive camping area. There are several pavilions that can be rented. There's also a camp store with a cafe for small eats. This really is an awesome place to spend the day. Enjoy!
Lots of hiking trails but wear very steady boots as it can be very rocky. Otherwise nice trails and nice views.
Awesome place. Lots of hiking trails. Trees everywhere. Should upgrade their WIFI.
Get off the beaten path a bit and the crowds disappear. Be prepared to fight through the boards if little kids and families in the main areas though. Still a beautiful place that should be experienced by anyone who likes the outdoors. Options for all skill levels and interests.
Love this place. Beautiful scenery and awesome trails. Can't wait to go back
One of the neater natural wonders of W.V., been to almost all the others, just something unique and hard to explain. To each their own !!
This is a beautiful location with many amenities and stunning views over Cheat Lake.
The name undersells the place. It's not just one rock, it's many large rocks, along with a breathtaking view.
Beautiful state park with amazing maples during the fall. My family and I visit there every year. Late October is the best timing in a year. Try the rattle snake trial and enjoy the wonder of creation.
I love hiking here and everything about this place! There is also so many amazing sites and cool people that hang out there. Very much worth the trip.
I love the beauty of this place. Awesome walking trails.
Great place. Worth the drive. Bring the family.
Amazing place!!!!! We only got to do 2 walks and they were amazing. Cant wait to go back amd explore more trails. The overlook is a breathtaking view.
Absolutely lovely gem in Mon county. An excellent place to experience the outdoors just 10 minutes from the city of Morgantown. Lots of trails, bouldering rocks, and a stunning view. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy an afternoon in this north Central West Virginia slice of "almost heaven"
I like to climb boulders here. It is fun.
Wonderful place to visit, unfortunately a great many visitors dont understand the premise of leave no trace.
Love it here, I've been going since I was a child. I've been on hikes, rock climbs, attended birthdays, family gatherings, and had some of my favorite memories here. The park staff do a decent job keeping the place clean, and the trails well maintained. It's close enough to everything in town so you don't have to spend the whole day there if you don't want to, but there is enough to do that you can if you want to. It's great for kids as well as adults who have a sense of adventure, or those who have a fondness for nature.
Great look-out point and trails throughout this park make it a frequent destination for locals and visitors alike. The main lookout is friendly for all ages and abilities and there is a nice area for picnics and a nice size playground for kids
Nice place worth visiting. The view point was awesome. We can spend 2-3 hours there.
Massive amount of trails! Beautiful sites and plenty of picnic areas.
This is a very pretty lookout that gives a stunning view of a deep valley and acres of woodland. There are some steep ridges so be careful when climbing around. Trails could be marked more efficiently here also but overall it’s a nice, scenic area.
