Great state park in West Virginia, definitely look into this when you are with family. Lots of attractions, good food too. Nice trading post store. Lovely view of the waterfall. Would definitely come back.
One of my favorite State Parks!!! The waterfall is beautiful. I personally recommend going when the water is high, as it is easiest to see the black coloration in the water then. Be prepared for a mild hike. Walking down the stairs to the falls is easy, but hiking back up the countless stairs can be a chore for some.
Worth the drive! Awesome view, lots of sights to see.
Great place to go for short hikes or long ones. Plenty of little restraunts and stores to go through. Many scenic overlooks.
Beautiful waterfall and many activities you can do around the park.
Wonderful attraction!! God's Earth is a beauty to behold, and this spot is nothing short of a beautiful sight!!
Was just looking for a place to spend one night on a road trip. Decided to stay two nights after seeing the pictures. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Beautiful campground and park. The office where you check in at has many camping supplies to cover things you may have forgotten and at a great price. Friendly helpful rangers all around. Tons of hiking trails and scenic spots. Nearby town of Davis is close and great. If you go there I highly recommend the Big Belly Deli. You can not come here and have a bad time. One heads up, if you're hiking wear water resistance shoes. Trails can be damp.
Very easy hike to the first view of the falls. It is only about half a mile and not steep. While there is a boardwalk to the falls overlook, some of it is stairs. The far side, which is easily accessible by a small parking lot ought to be wheelchair accessible. The Gift shop, bathrooms, and concessions stand are clean and well stocked. This is a great stop on a family trip and an iconic veiw of Appalachia.
So beautiful, some wheelchair access, Great views. The falls are Gorgeous. They have tent camping and cabins. Call for reservations, lots of picnic tables. Nice place to spend the day.
easy on the knees, very beautiful. great for photo ops!
Blackwater falls is different every time we visit. Some of the most beautiful scenery in the State. Our family always enjoys going back to visit.
There are easy paths and hard paths. But every path will take you to a beautiful spot.
Beautiful falls that are completely free of charge to view (including parking). It’s a short hike down a paved trail that leads to a large stair case that takes you the rest of the way down to the falls with multiple viewing decks. Other than the falls there isn’t much else here so you can easily be in an out within an hour less it’s really busy. Draws in a steady flow of traffic coming and going so getting a parking spot is not an issue. Enjoy!!
Gorgeous place to visit. The falls are stunning no matter what time of year you visit!
This is why we pay taxes. To enjoy gorgeous, safe and well maintained parks. The falls are beautiful. Nice little hiking trails that are not too difficult. Very pretty area.
Nature in it's raw and powerful beauty... the sound of rushing water and rustling leaves... the chilled breeze and mist amongst the songs of birds.
Use to come here in the winter to cross country ski b4 my wife's stroke. First time back in 7 years and first time in the summer
Beautiful scenery, flora, and fauna. Trail system is good for levels of hiking ability. Activities available year round with Nordic sledding, cross country skiing and snow shoeing.
Beautiful and stunning. Staff at the gift shop are friendly and the park is always well maintained.
Simply amazing. Gorgeous. Stunning. Incredible waterfalls.
A beautiful campground, have been camping here for years.
Beautiful place !! I will go back I had a great time
We stopped at Blackwater Falls during a drought. I had never seen such a small amount of water going over the falls. It is a truly beautiful area.
What a gem of nature it is truly a scenic and lovely waterfall and the only down side I can think of it has quite a bit of stairs to the best viewing deck, but nothing most cant handle and it has wheel chair accessibility. It is all well worth the wonderful photos and memories it will provide and all with free entry to the area and it has information about it and the surrounding area
Love the natural beauty that this park and adjoining areas have to offer. Great for visits during Summers and early springs. Trails are well maintained. Blackwater falls is a must visit attraction in this park. It's close to the actual Town of Davis, a five minute drive, where you can stop at Hellbender Burritos for a quick bite right after.
Such a beautiful place to visit. I never get tired of seeing the beautiful falls. Love in the winter when they r frozen.
Great state park in West Virginia, definitely look into this when you are with family. Lots of attractions, good food too. Nice trading post store. Lovely view of the waterfall. Would definitely come back.
Beautiful spot, great gift shop with lots of gemstones and rocks for purchase if you're into that. Small snack stand and picnic tables available. The route to the falls is about 200 steps so it seemed a little much for the elder crowd. However, if you go out of the entrance almost immediately before is an opening that is paved and can let you walk down and skip about half the steps. I'm not sure if the waterfall is always at this level, we were there during major flash flooding but if you're traveling through it's a beautiful place for a stop.
Very peaceful. Love the flowing water over the falls. Enjoys the trip here with Pendleton county 4-H. The gift shop is nice. The good at the snack bar is great. Had a pizza and and was delicious. Highly recomend this for a family trip. Also check out the lake where you can paddle boat and paddle board. You can also check out Canaan valley.
But this is a must see if you are visiting West Virginia, absolutely stunning that's all I can say
This place was amazing!! The waterfalls were beautiful. It was magical. There were a lot of stairs, but it was wayyy worth it.
Quiet after labor day. Deer come out to graze. Pretty water fall.
So many things to do here so you may want to spend a couple days here exploring. The lodge is nice and has beautiful views and is very accommodating. You have the Elakala Trail next to the lodge with a few nice waterfalls. Lindy Point Observation Deck is just down the road to the West, good place to watch the sun set. Blackwater Falls is on the way to the lodge, with a couple good spots to view the falls. And Pendleton Overlook gives a spectacular view of the Gorge. And the Nature Center is over by Pendleton Lake, and I believe you can rent kayaks there in the summer months. And lots of trails to explore here in the park. Well worth your weekend!
Excellent state park. Trails are very well marked
One of my favorite places! The falls are beautiful and worth all the steps down to see them, the trails are scenic and well marked. No matter the season, I'm never disappointed!
The place is beautiful, not over populated, they have trails that work for beginners and more intermediate trails. The main waterfall didnt make much of an impression on me so I knocked a star off but the park is definitely worth visiting. The walkway leading down the main waterfall was constructed and mai stained VERY well.
Nice place to visit during the short vacation. The cabin there were fabulous!
Great time, clean park, trails are clean! Lodge is cheap and staff is friendly.
Great beautiful place took a motorcycle run here with some friends great place

Great view of the falls, but 214 steps limits the less abled walkers.
Nice park and well kept! Be ready for stairs but also know, some can be avoided if you walk the long way... we will be back!
Beautiful. Breathtaking. I’ve gone on many mountain trips, but this one was a pretty easy hike up to the waterfall. And the waterfall did not disappoint, unlike some others in VA. It’s a fun trip with family and friends just for about an hour and a half if you take your time. It’s a nice scenery and has a good platform to stand on.
What a beautiful place to be.. got the best views, hikes, falls. We had a great time going to Lindy point. It is advisable to save the map offline or note down, as GPS and cellphone network are not the best out there.
My husband and I stayed at the lodge at Blackwater Falls last month. It was our third visit there. It’s our go-to place for relaxing, hiking and generally enjoying nature. The scenery is breathtaking. The hiking trails are well marked and maintained. At the end of the day meals at the lodge are delicious. Can’t recommend it enough.
Lovely place with nice bike trails. Plantain trail is difficult and full rocks and. I really enjoyed this trail. Blue trails are easier but also nice. Plenty roes everywhere!
What a great place to enjoy nature's own water show. Moderate to difficult trails are to be found here so wear sturdy shoes. There is a Gentle trail that overlooks the top of the falls off of the road that leads to the lodge. This is wheelchair friendly and is quite short. A great place to view the falls and relax.
You can Quickly get to the falls via Steps, or Walk way, Plenty of Trails if your up to walking, gift shop, and Finger food Also Available if you Need a Snack...Worth the trip!
Scenic and gorgeous. It was an amazing place and the beauty of it was just breathtaking. I will definitely visit this state park again. It has to be one of the best state parks in West Virginia.
One of my favorites, Lindy Point Overlook.
It's a nice place for a short visit. We haven't had much rain since July so the falls were a little underwhelming. This time of year there is a narrow amount of time when the sun lights up the falls directly. These pics were taken around 12:00.
Beautiful scenery. Short walk with lots of stairs. Be sure to stop on both sides of the falls. The overlooks provide very different perspectives.
Pretty park..could use more signage!!
One of the best waterfall I have ever seen..easy to get to

We had great weather, so that was really helpful. Wonderful falls, easy to get around, beautiful vistas, and the food at the Blackwater Falls Smoke House was delicious! Highly recommended!
Visited this spot many times, quick 1 - 1 1/2 hour drive from frostburg and points west in MD. Love it there, all seasons. Definitely check it out in a really cold winter, it completely freezes. Cant beat the view and the raw power felt as the river tumbles over the edge of falls. Must see if you're traveling down 219. Enjoy.
Visited this park with my family on a Memorial day weekend. We have this water falls. It is boarded all the way to the waterfalls. The park is very picturesque and the waterfalls itself is very nice.
Lovely place with nice bike trails. Plantain trail is difficult and full rocks and. I really enjoyed this trail. Blue trails are easier but also nice. Plenty roes everywhere!
Just a short walk and you’ll be at one of the most beautiful falls! My family and I traveled with three dogs in late August to this state park. Few people and less foot traffic allowed us to enjoy the site and take incredible photos. 10/10 recommend. This is not much of a hike. The path is well maintained and stairs/deck have been built to allow for easy access to the water.
Very nice waterfall, it's an easy walk down, but it can get strenuous going back up. Very scenic though
Beautiful State Park with an overlook platform o erlooking the falls, a Co ference center and more.
Absolutely gorgeous! Nature all over. Not for a city dweller, or beach bum. But a naturalist would feel right at home here. Many trails to conquer and overcome and many sights to see.
Love it every time we go to the falls. Rained every day but the people and park are great
Absolutely gorgeous scenery. Upper observation area was a very short, level trail. Lower observation by the Trading Post could be a challenge for some because of 200 step stairs but very worthwhile. The Trading Post had a nice variety of area themed items.
Came here to go camping and hike the trails and plan on coming back next year. It is amazing. Cant recommend enough.
Beautiful hiking, the Park is clean and well cared for. Staff and Park Rangers are so nice. Loved my stay. Com by back in the Fall.
Blackwater Falls was beautiful today and we really enjoyed the falls trail here by the lodge and seeing several deer in the park.
Very beautiful. Fun driving through the mountains as well
Beautiful scenes peaceful settings all around great place
Awesome park. Beautiful campground, a great place to set up camp and explore the area.
Stunning view, especially in winter! The roar of the falls could be heard from the parking lot. A short walk along guided paths to view the waterfall. Many wooden stairs (which turned to ice) in snowy weather so just use a bit of caution while walking.
Beautiful and peaceful, no large crowds and you can enjoy the mountain scenery totally at the pace you wish.
Easy hikes to beautiful views. You can see the waterfall from two sides. One offers a level view and the other from the bottom of the waterfall.
Amazing views. Wish it was handicap accessible all the way until the falls overlook.
Beautiful State Park was full of wonderful views . The trails were fun to walk. My eight month pregnant wife had fun on the trails too. So fun for the whole family.
Beautiful place. I love all the sites. Davis has great coffee shop, tacos and a fantastic brewery. The cabin was beautiful well kept in a great spot. The check in was fast. Once we decide stay longer they were able to find a another cabin with the same amenities to prolong our stay. Great trails and water falls . Amazing
The falls are very pretty, and easy to get to. The gift shop was very nice as well, lots of souvenir knick knacks and gemstones. There is a snack shop right next door if you’re hungry. The food was just okay, enough to to tide us over until we got back to our cabin. There are plenty of walking trail, but I thought the map of the area was a little confusing. Maybe use a trail app on your phone, but have it downloaded because cell service is iffy.
It's absolutely amazing, very beautiful views, and has many different levels of hikes.
Enjoyed our stay at Blackwater. The rangers were friendly and helpful, and the campground was in nice shape. The sites were a good size too. Nearby is a small lake, with fishing, paddle boat rentals, frisbee golf, basketball, a playground and more. Town is close, and is a great spot to grab pizza or ice cream, pick up supplies or just do some shopping. The only downside to the campground was the bath house. It was kept stocked and clean, but none of the stall doors I checked worked correctly. Either they didn't shut at all, or you couldn't lock them because the lock missed the hole by inches. I'm sure they don't have the cash to renovate (which is ok, the old setup is kind of charming in its own way), but some of the issues they could fix in under an hour with a drill and a screwdriver. My wife said the ladies room was the same. I only briefly visited the lodge to get a fishing permit, so I can't speak to it much but it seemed nice. All told we very much enjoyed the trip and the campground, but you might end up getting to know a few of your fellow campers better than you'd like :).
Beautiful place. A lot of steps. Not really wheelchair accessible. Please, do yourself a favor and see this beautiful waterfall.
Beautiful. Clean. Very nice place to see the beauty of WV. Nice hiking trails.
Absolutely beautiful. Can get close to falls for beautiful pictures
Great view from well built walkway. A ramp makes top view avaulable and a handicapped entrance is across the canyon. Drinks are about 5$.
It’s such a beautiful park with lots to offer and stunning views of the falls.
Beautiful park, very well maintained and everyone working there were helpful and friendly.
Beautiful scenery. Nice up to date cabins.
I love this with a passion the water is so beautiful and there’s so many trails you can go on to see different waterfalls
Amazing
Beautiful park. Very easy to get to the waterfall. Lot of lodging and camping options within the park. There was hardly any crowed when we went to see the waterfall and we enjoyed our time there.
We love it here try to visit multiple times a year!! Check it out in all the seasons! Very beautiful when there is snow on the ground!!
Absolutely beautiful! We had a wonderful time with our kids and grandchildren.
Gorgeous, nice paths with secluded lakes and ponds my lady and i love going to. Paths and trails are well maintained, one of the best views i have seen around here is from the scenic overlook.
The falls are breath taking and picnic areas plentiful.
Blackwater Falls is awesome. Beautiful drive to the state park, nice views and they have a Trading Post & a place to grab a bite to eat. Definitely worth it.
Beautiful falls. Well maintained...to well. Trails seem to be mostly blacktop.
Beautiful place! Free entry! Has great trails and a nice store
A must see on your trip through West Virginia. Tons and tons of things to see and do. Well kept, clean, and accommodating. The view of the falls is breathtaking. Will remember and love to come back.
Very beautiful place, there was also a rainbow when I went
West Virginia is unusually blessed with numerous state parks, and scenic sights and activities abound. Blackwater Falls is a good example of one. Camping, hiking, sights, and gorgeous country are in ample supply there!
The views were great and the lodge restaurant amazing
Beautiful place to visit. Took a road trip Saturday October 19th. Just beautiful. the colors, views & sounds.
There is a beautiful lodge at the top of the mountain to stay with restaurant inside. Great location to visit during summer!. Lots of option for hiking. Stunning blackwater falls. Driving to the park is scenic along the river!
The four bedroom cabins are an absolutely wonderful place to spend time with loved ones or to simply be alone. With amenities like a washer/dryer, two BIG bathrooms, front and back porches, full kitchen, and beautiful gas stove, it is easy to settle in quickly. The indoor pool and hot tub at the lodge was awesome!! The kids had a great time on the sled run and I am so happy it snowed!!
Beautiful waterfalls and a very easy walk down. A good way to wrap up a day.
It's a very peaceful place to visit. Go hiking, picnic, bird and other animal watching eth your family. There's camping close by. Amazing scenery and views. It's best pretty during all seasons. If you're in decent shape, hike to the falls during winter. The over spray forms beautiful ice sculptures on the rocks, trees and etc. The trees covered in snow are breathtaking. And there's not as many guests so it's really quiet. I could sit there for hours. It's very calming. During the summer my kids love to pack a picnic lunch and hike all the trails then sit down together and eat and talk about everything we saw. And there's other state parks really close to go visit. You can make a day of it with your family.
One of my favorite places in the world! Stunning outdoors experience. The falls are beautiful. There are multiple scenic points and overlooks. This is what brought us to Davis from North Central PA and now we're are in love with this whole area
If your close to Thomas West Virginia make sure you stop at Blackwater Falls State Park its tremendous!!!!
The disc golf course is wonderful! It is helpful to play with at least a partner to keep an eye on where the discs land! Fun time had by all!
Absolutely gorgeous! It's an easy and quick hike down to the falls, just about anyone should be able to manage it with little to no problems.
Probably one of the best parks I've ever been to and I have been to quite a few. Awesome views. Great camping sites. I would love to come sight seeing here again the next time I am in West Virginia.
This is one of the best most beautiful places on Earth. Go for the food and the vistas. You must check out Lindy point
Everything about this park. The views, the wildlife, and every other beautiful trail, and creature you come across. Beautiful Park.
Visit this place during fall and that would be an unforgettable experience of your life.
We got married here. Excellent place to hike, bike, walk, camp, glanp, and very dog friendly! Great views.
The falls are amazing after there's been some rainfall but there's more than just the falls to see. When visiting be sure to do some hiking on the trails there, you won't be disappointed.
Pretty scenery and nice wood deck path down to the falls.
Almost Heaven!! Loved West Virginia and Blackwater Falls!! So Beautiful! We were there for Astronomy Weekend. We had a great time! Will definitely be back!!
Had a fantastic three night stay here in the cabins. Falls are beautiful and we had a fantastic day hike
Beautiful falls. Hubby took pics and passed them out to family and friends to come on down.
Probably the best park we've ever visited! We've been coming to Blackwater Falls for years and it never gets old. The falls are gorgeous but so are the overlooks - we love Pendleton Point - and the numerous trails. Elakala Falls trail, starting near the lodge parking lot, is a real family favorite as is the Balanced Rock trail. Over the years, our family has stayed at the Lodge, in the Cabins (on the lodge side of the canyon), and in the campground and we love them all - each has something unique to offer. We make the 4.5 hour trip from home at least once a year but usually more - that's how much we love it! Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring - Blackwater Falls is awesome no matter the season!
The park is beautiful! The hike down to the falls is very easy for all ages. There are lots of steps, but they're not steep at all. You can also elect to take a paved portion down part of the way. You'll find ample parking there as well as restrooms, a small snack shop, and a gift shop.
The drive is beautiful, it is not just the destination. Black water falls is the final reward.
Love, love, love the natural beauty. I'd love to return. Sightseeing and hiking are available.
We have frequented this beautiful place for 10 years and counting!!
Beautiful vacation spot year round for the lover of woods, hiking, scenic beauty, and wildlife and wildflowers.
A must go if you are visiting the area. Visit the waterfall. They have plenty of short walks to overlooks for a great experience.
My son and daughter-in-law were there a couple days ago they loved it.
It was beautiful. It is a pretty good walk up the steps but well wort it.
Excellent place to visit. Great views and picnic areas. The Lake area is great for gatherings and for picnicking.
Loved the view of the falls but the walk down and back isn't for someone with any disabilities. Could use a better concession stand also.
The falls were awesome and easily accessed. I loved the tree roots along the path the most.. They were simply AMAZING
Had a wonderful time here. So many things to see. Such a beautiful place .
It was an awesome place to visit will be taking a vacation with the family there again
This is my Almost Heaven place to go! Been going there since I was a child.. My father side of family is from Parsons so when I go for Vist I stop here..
Iv visited many times as it is my favorite spot in the beautiful place I call home. This has to be on top with all of the fall foliage.
Beautiful scenery with great trails. Wonderful place for hiking and seeing nature's beauty at its best.
One of our favorite places in wv. Go there. You won't be sorry.
Beautiful place. Fun for all ages.
Stunning! Lots to do around here. They have a wheelchair accessible area to see the falls, concrete, very easy, and short distance. Many great places to see!
Nice place with some good scenic overlooks and hiking trails. The lodge is worth a stay if you want a few days.
Probably the best park we've ever visited! We've been coming to Blackwater Falls for years and it never gets old. Very beautiful place. Nice bike riding area. We can not wait to take our kids to see the falls. Nice lodges here along with restaurant, and gift shops. Theirs muliptle scenic overlooks that are breathtaking.
Pleasant outdoor environment with easy access to viewing points.
This place was amazing and so Beautiful would recomend going there.
The park is beautiful! The hike down to the falls is very easy for all ages. There are lots of steps, but they're not steep at all. You can also elect to take a paved portion down part of the way. You'll find ample parking there as well as restrooms, a small snack shop, and a gift shop.
Very well maintained and clean at all picnic and trailhead areas. Large cabins also clean, comfortable and well stocked with modern kitchens. Beautiful scenery.
This place was awesome! Great walking. Easy as well, good for pretty much any age. And absolutely beautiful.
Nice waterfall. Although its more yellow than black. Nice small walk from parking to falls.
Loved it! Got an amazing view, but I did get a little lost, I thought there'd be a third viewing platform (still not sure if there is) it'd be nice if there was a map.
This park is absolutely beautiful. Cannot wait to come back and explore more.
Gorgeous falls, short hike (but a lot of stairs, and not wheelchair accessible).
The gorgeous Blackwater Falls is worth the detour to visit! Even though it is slightly off the main road, the scenery was beautiful. I visited the site in May and the water was gushing down the falls. Keep in mind that there are a set of stairs a couple hundred feet to the waterfall lookout. The path is well kept and the stairs are wide with railings and should be suitable for most folks. You might possibly get misted on at the bottom of the lookout deck if the wind picks up but it’s a great experience. It is also a great place to stop for an afternoon picnic.
Beautiful. Falls were cool. Walk to the Falls is pretty short. Great day full of activities .
A must visit if you are in the area! Warning.. there are a lot of steps so if you have little ones prepare to possibly have to carry them a decent amount, but you won't regret it once you get there you will get some amazing photos!
I love walking here! It is so beautiful!
Beautiful place to visit, my third October there. Explored the vicinity on this last trip, saw Elakala falls and walked the Balanced Rock Trail. New cabins look wonderful to stay in, definitely interested in coming back for more trails, and visiting nearby Canaan Valley.
So much Beauty so easily accessible so many trails to see so many wonderful things tell starting out moderate easy enough for children going to difficult for experienced hikers family-friendly place with so much to do Campground picnic areas Pendleton Lake great for a day trip or a weekend this is a beautiful must see place
I loved the temperatures and the campground. 4 deer came into our camp site every night
Absolutely Beautiful well worth the Trip down, no regrets I promise you
Such a beautiful place to go. The falls are breathtaking and the surrounding nature is just as beautiful. The gift shop is a bit pricey, but has a lot to choose from.
Loved it need better cell phone coverage in area trying to navigate there was an adventure. Loved the people and lodge was rustic lot of history.
