Never gets old seeing this beautiful state park here in Almost Heaven West Virginia. Love this place.
I like it pretty good I will go back again
Wonderful place! Great views, good fishing
Good place right here for me
Neat park, beautiful lake. The sites were spaced pretty well and the bathrooms were clean.
Beautiful! Stopped by on our travels and did some sightseeing. Wish the gift shop had been open. There were lots of tourists when we stopped.
Rented a legacy cabin for a weekend getaway. LOVE THIS PLACE!!
Drive right to mill. Creek is nice with fishing. Was so disappointed the gift shop wasn't open. Waited for years to get here and couldn't buy just a simple magnet. Got stung by wood bee on bench. Didn't see campgrounds and some trails
I wish I was here for the fall foilage but it was beautiful none the less.
Such a gorgeous state park! It's super close to hawks nest and the new river gorge so it has so much for the entire family to do!! Lucky to live only like an hour away so I'm able to soak up the adventure anytime!!!
Hosted a wedding and reception here. It was wonderful.
Most beautiful place on all sessionand my friend told me this is the Most photographed place in West Virginia
Scenic place. I wish The water level was a little high.
Great campground with horseback riding near the New River Gorge.
Just as beautiful and peaceful as I imagined. So much to do. Lakes, rivers, waterfalls. Beautiful nature sounds. Fishing, boating, kayaking and swimming. Lots of summer activities going on around the whole area. Cliffs to jump off of into the water. Great place in the wild & wonderful WV.
What a beautiful park! From the grist mill to the pretty lake to the cozy cabins, it's a fantastic place to visit.
Great park and camping ground. They rent cabins and have horse back riding and paddle boats. I hated they took out the restaurant tho. Always love looking at the grist mill and you can even buy corn meal there!
Beautiful area and great for hiking
You will find more dramatic views of the New River Gorge closer to Fayetteville, but there are still a few very scenic spots at this park. And if you haven't seen the grist mill, you should check it out at least once. It is one of the most photographed places in the State for a reason.
Beautiful area the mill is right beside the parking lot and the island in the sky trail is a cool short trail that's head is right behind the mill.
We stayed on Site 17, non-electric which is perfect for hammock camping. I would leave the tent at home due to the slope of the ground. The quiet hours are well respected, even on holiday weekends. The bathrooms and showers are well maintained and there are laundry machines on site that take quarters. Boley Lake is quite small but calm and good for paddleboarding. The no swimming sign is due to the lack of lifeguard. The state park is 30 minutes from Summerville, 10 minutes to New River Gorge Bridge, and 20 minutes to Fayetteville. The location is good for vacationing in the Gualey and New Recreation Areas.
Such a beautiful park. So serene and peaceful and not overcrowded. I love coming here.
I’m from Texas. The pictures online must have no filters. Looks as beautiful in person and then some. Highly recommend camping here.
Very nice beautiful clean
Beautiful. The creek was rather low so we were able to go out into it on the rocks. We will be going back in the Fall.
I grew up there..its awesome
This is a neat place to visit. The staff was very informative and helpful.
A historic state park amidst nature!
One of the most beautiful places in WV.
I got engaged here. I have to love it! Ha. It was beautiful, and the camp ground was spacious. Don't go on the Island in the sky trail, it's overgrown and you can't actually see anything from up there.
I was traveling from St Clair Michigan to Charleston South Carolina and wanted to stop at the half way point. I found Babcock on a Google search and when I saw the cabins and the gristmill I knew this was the place. I regret not spending two nights here because the place is beautiful. Hope that someday I'll make it back. I would like to see the rhododendrum or the fall foliage.
Perfect for camping. Loved it. Already planning for next year.
This state park has everything, campgrounds, lots of sights to see and do, I can't wait to go back again soon. My family loves it here.
We come here at least once per year and stay in one of the cabins. Everything is always clean and we'll kept. The bonus is picking up fresh ground corn meal from the grist mill.
Haven't been here for years but it's a great place
Photo hotspot and recreation area.
Great walk and not crowded.
The most photographed place in wv
An amazing State Park.
Great place. We had our family vacation here. Wonderful hiking trails.
Beautiful pictures can be had at this location. Easy to get to and worth stopping.
Beautiful, quiet. Real nice campground.
Beautiful, peaceful place.
Beautiful, highly recommend spending time in this state park. On Saturdays you can go inside the famous mill. The lake has paddle boats, row boats, canoes, to rent. Also a great hiking trail that goes around the entire lake. Be sure and stop by the main office by the grist mill and get a park map with all the trail info. A well maintained campground is also located within the state park as well.
One of my favorite places go there every chance I get, just about 2.5 hours from my home
Friendly staff, serene spot
Very easy to get to. Weather has a great deal to deal with beauty. Rain for stream and frost for leaf color. Plan your visit and have a great scenic time!
Beautiful state park. Was not able to explore it entirely, but the parts we visited were very nice. The visitor's center is right next to a waterfall and the stream offers fishing and a dip, if you're interested. Only complaint I have is that the trail we hiked was quite a bit overgrown and fairly troublesome to navigate (Skyline Trail). Can't speak for the others, however. I look forward to going back and doing some camping. I definitely recommend a visit!
Always a great family outing...paddle boats, fishing, exploring... great memories made
Great views
Beautiful.. Special place for us
It is a peaceful park with the spectacular view!!!
Wonderful secluded vacation spot great senery and trout fishing
A great place to visit and beautiful scenery
We only experienced a little, it was our first time there, but it was beautiful..
Beautiful and a lake to fish in
Really neat place.
We are very fortunate to have this Park so close. It is absolutely beautiful.
It's just relaxing and beautiful, what now could you want!
Beautiful scenery, nature at it's best! Love the cabins.
I absolutely love this place. My parents came here back in the 60s when I was quite young, and I've come here off and on throughout the decades. Being 10th generation Appalachian, it is as if a part of my heart is here in these mountains. This park is amazing overall. I give it 4 stars instead of five because the mattress in the cabin is absolutely horrible. Other than that, everything has been lovely.
It's quaint and we loved our Legacy cabin #11. We had great warmer weather so we didnt get to use the fireplace. The cabin stayed cool even though it was warm outside. The park employees were friendly and helpful. Near by New River Gorge is worth the short drive.
Just amazing place and views of the mill and surrounding site is awesome.
Beautiful but sorry to say the fish were not biting.
Beautiful scenery and a working first mill
It’s a beautiful place to picnic and have a good day with family and friends
Quick scenic hikes. We found ghost flowers and lots of baby toads on our last hike.
This park is as beautiful as all the pictures I've seen of it! Also there is a nice lake and campground with clean facilities located at different parts of Babcock State Park. They have tours of the gristmill.
Babcock State Park met my expectations of a private forest retreat surrounded by the beauty of fall season. My friend and I stayed in an economy cabin that included a queen size bunk bed, kitchen, two dressers, bathroom, screened in porch, fire pit, picnic table, and grill. I loved building fires and standing outside under the moon, stars, and beautiful fall foliage. The cabin experience could be considered rustic but other than needing a little bathroom dusting, it was clean, organized, and expended at an excellent price. We loved walking around the park between overlooks, the grist mill, and the lake. The roads were in great condition and the park itself looked well maintained. The hospitality was remarkable. Well done staff of Babcock State Park:)
Beautiful Spot to go and hike around definitely reccomend going
It was amazing. Colors were bursting which made family time awesome!
Great park love it
It is beautiful here! The water was down so we didnt get to see it work but the attendant was very knowledgeable about all the inner workings. We will come back!
If you're an outdoor enthusiast this is a must see place to visit. There is trail's to walk,it's scenic... bring a fishing pole ! Just an over all great place .
Some of WV's best views
Picturesque park nestled in the mountains of West Virginia ... the park far exceeded our expectations esp with regard to the fall colors ( we visited in last week of October ) .. loved the drive upto the look out point .. on the way up about 0.5 miles before you reach the top on the left hand side don’t miss out on the spectacular view of the valley - this area has some benches as landmark. Following this also we went to the glade creek river and the flour mill which is a dream location for landscape photographers. The area also has cabins and trails but we just drove through the park and was lost in the autumn glory.
One of my favorite state parks in WV just Beautiful
Fun terrain if you don't mind going off the beaten path. Not many fish in the streams this time of year.
It is a very beautiful place.
Wonderful park. Very beautiful!!
You get a picnic table and a firepit when you reserve a non-electric campsite. They have showers in the bathrooms and a coin-laundry room. Two soda machines, one at check-in station and the other at the bathrooms. They even had a public sink to wash your dishes in the middle of the surrounding campsites. This was a pretty good experience. Didn't care for the after 10pm quiet hours and how close the neighboring campsites were. And some people weren't complying to the no alchohol prohibition. Excellent free Wi-fi access and decent cellphone service. Ice and bundles of wood available for purchase. Getting your own firewood from the wood is frowned upon. It is a state park after all.
Loved this area, nice campground. Trails, grist Mill, all great.
Beautiful. Bathhouses need more attention.
My grandma Maxine Fox was cook in restaurant during 70's. Grew up playing in parking lot many days. My favorite place on earth. Myrna
Pretty kinda run down
So pretty in the fall
Beautiful everytime I go!
Incredibly beautiful, worth the visit even on the colder days. Hope to hike more of the area during our next trip. Visitor's center was clean, full of books about WV, had locally made crafts, fun gifts, and had a welcoming, helpful attendant.
Beautiful area with tons of trails along the ridges and water ways
Beautiful. Green. Lush. Well maintained trails. Want to explore more...
Peacefully quiet, of you need to just chill out and relax this is the place
Very beautiful park. One of the most photographed spots in West Virginia - the Grist Mill.
A beautiful place I look forward to returning some time soon.
Beautiful park. Stopped by the grist mill, took some great pictures. Enjoyed the sound of the water. Very relaxing. Hiked around the lake. Trail was well maintained. One of my favorite hikes yet. Easy to moderate so nothing too strenuous yet good for the soul.
One of the most beautiful spots in WV!
A great place to get away from it all. The campground is nice and quiet. There are some nice hiking trails and beautiful places for any photographer.
Beautiful Places. So, relaxing
Needs portajohn near mill lol
Beautiful scenes of nature. Enjoy walking around there when I can to see what's happening.
Love this place try to go at different times and it keeps getting better
There is both historical intrugue and a feeling of peace here.
The experience was totally awesome. Grist mill is just like you see in photos. Love it in summer months as well with the fall colors. Highly recommended to see in person. :)
Superbly maintained park. Not crowded.
Amazing Grist Mill. A must see.
So much more here to do than what I thought. Beautiful.
Absolutely gorgeous, educational, and well-maintained. A stop for everyone.
This is one of the most photographed places in WV beautiful scenery. GREAT PLACE for a family picnic
Love the water an water wheel
Love this place no matter what season it is always beautiful.
Serene. Picturesque. Nice visitor center.
Quiet, great fishing. Nice spots to sit at to fish during the day. We had a great family day here recently to fish with my boys and my dad. Several years ago I camped with my girl scout troop, they loved the experience!
Beautiful area. Campground was ok. Bathhouse needs work. Signs everywhere with lots of don't do this and that.
There is hiking, trail biking, camping, cabins, fishing and nature to appreciate. It's a beautiful setting and 15 miles from the New River Gorge.
Very beautiful place to go
Loved the cabin, very quiet and relaxing, kids loved the water.
Wonderful hiking trails and great campsites. The flowers on the mountain trails were everywhere. It looked like Hawaii in places there where just so many flowers. Add a trip to the lake in Summerville about 30 minutes away with its cliffs and rock islands and you have a perfect trip. It was for us.
Beautiful place
Beautiful park with old grist mill
We loved Babcock!! It is stunningly beautiful. Although, we took a trail to the right, behind the mill. It was supposed to be a 2 mile hike and ended up being almost 3 hrs. The trail was not marked. Not much to do there other thsn tske pictures and hike.
Gorgeous and fun to hike around!
Wonderful places to visit in the park. It's close to the scouting summit. It's got alot of history. Great place to camp
Peaceful and beautiful.
My son and daughter-in-law were there a couple days ago they loved it.
beautiful park. drawback electric hookup only. water and sewer close.. had a blowout on my truck and 2 of their maintenance personnel came and changed for me tried to pay them and they would not accept payment. very nice and personable.
Fall color in the New River is beautiful and well worth the drive.
This is the most beautiful place. It's relaxing and so very peaceful. I love it there ♥️
Great hiking in the state park. Beautiful views around every corner. The grist mill is as picturesque in person as the images you see posted.
Hey welcome to chulu hill is good for walking high top Forest and good to welcome to savo West NP and embuseli NP yuo see all Bing 5 in Kenya
We rented a cabin for a couple nights for the World Scout Jamboree. It was beautiful and comfortable. It had a fridge, stove , and 3/4 bath. Much better than a hotel room. The staff even left a bundle of firewood and popcorn.
Clean and quiet. Great place to get away.
Nice park,but no restaurant
Beautiful grist mill, waterfalls and hikes. Must be amazing in the fall.
Beautiful state park
Everyone knows about the grist mall, but there is so much more to this park! The scenic views on the way up the mountain and the lake are absolutely breathtaking! Take the time to go beyond the Grist Mill to Island in the Sky trail, you won’t regret it! The campground is clean and well kept; we greatly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning!
Beautiful state park! Loved the economy cabins.
The old millhouse is awesome, great pics
Love it here. We go almost every mothers day weekend. It is just beautiful.
Beautiful area for a day hike!! Trail blazes are easy to notice, and there is a variety of trails for all skill levels. I suggest looking at/printing a trail map from online.. the ones they have at the HQ are in black and white and nearly impossible to read in certain areas where trails are parallel or crossing. Made for a slightly difficult day as I was trying to get the most of the park, and wanted to trail hop to make a tailored loop hike. Otherwise, very beautiful and peaceful area.
No verizon signal at all, but park did have decent wifi. Only electric hookups. We really enjoyed our stay.
Great display of a mill. This mill was constructed from two other Mills so it's not historical but it looks very great in pictures
Great place for a history lesson and some preservative free cornmeal! I really enjoyed my time here.
Beautiful area with a large parking lot and gift shop. Excellent staff. Free and easy to walk around the area to visit.
love it here. beautiful scenary
Absolutely beautiful here in the fall!
This is a beautiful park with gorgeous views. You can hike trails if that's your thing, or you can drive to a few scenic overlooks. We went in the summer but I imagine the fall would be the most scenic.
This is an absolutely incredible park, that is fortunately not overrun by hapless tourists. A huge range of activities, very unique legacy cabins, and breathtaking views! The attached photos are unfiltered and unedited, taken via a smartphone.
Beautiful park and a great place to spend a week in the summer.
My lovely place
