REVIEWS OF Luray Caverns IN Virginia

We visited for the first time over Labor Day weekend on a Saturday, and it was an enjoyable experience. We were a afraid that it might be too packed given that rows of cars were parked on the grass when we arrived, but in all actuality, we were able to find a good spot near the entrance, and the line for purchasing tickets went by very quickly considering that it was out the door. The ticket price might seem a bit steep, but we definitely got what we paid for. The staff was very informative and helpful and the beauty of the caverns itself made it a worthwhile trek for us from the Loudoun County area. Inside the caverns, the entire path is completely paved with no stairs, which I believe is a feat in and of itself. Although, I do have to say that the crowds made it a challenge to move when the path got narrow, and we felt a little rushed when trying to get some group pictures. With that said, the temperature inside was surprisingly comfortable despite it being a particularly hot day. The tour will take at minimum an hour and a half depending on how often your group decides to take pictures and how many people are there, so be prepared for some mild physical exertion. I can't speak for the food selection on site as we chose to eat elsewhere, but there is a McDonald's close by if looking for some familiar cheap eats. The pictures for purchase at the end of the tour, in my opinion, were also worth the $30 we paid as they include 2 large and 4 small copies, along with a nice frame and informational brochure/picture holder that's worthy of a coffee table conversation starter. Overall, this is a great place to bring family and friends. If there is any worry that this place is a tourist trap, rest assured that its natural beauty will certainly leave you in awe and amazement.

Awesome family experience. Our tour guide Christina was Great! She gave my son a great responsibility along the tour.. It was amazing! Every child should visit and experience. And a hell of a workout! 5 Stars.

Within drivable distance for DC. Beautiful caverns. The tour are held every 20 mins. The stairs are now replaced by the ramp making it accessible for strollers. The reflecting pool and the wishing pool were my favorites. The cafe is good as well. They have a few more activities around. Very well managed. The parking space is large.

Cathie Sterling

The caverns were much more interesting than I expected. The guided tour was very informative. There were lots of other things available to do - a rope walk, a garden maze among other things ... a good place for children's field trips (there were several there).

knowdoughz777

A very unique experience. My first visit to a cavern. The tour guide, Caden was very friendly and helpful. The formations were well lit and the pacing of the tour was enough to snap pictures and take in the sights without being too rushed. Definitely recommend for anyone who enjoys natural scenery.

sneha n ramesh

Hidden gem. Very unique and must visit. The team has done a great job preserving this natural treasure.

Carolyn Bassett

We really enjoyed our visit to Luray Caverns. Our tour guides were friendly, funny and informative. The formations were incredible. Our group included people from 1 year old to 60+, and my son who uses a wheelchair. While it's not technically ADA (some areas are very steep, while others have inclines, narrow bits, and manual doors) it can be managed. The guides were so very accommodating and the pace was not burdensome at all. I found using his manual chair to work better than I think using his power chair would have been. We took turns pushing (or holding on, on inclines) and it really was very doable. I would recommend using the bathroom before you come, that might be hard with a chair. This is definitely something you should see if you can, it's truly incredible, and the engineering of the organ is fascinating!

Karla Kelly

Breath taking! This has got to be one of the best Caverns I have seen. Largest on the easy coast. Very well maintained. There are other small shops/museums for additional viewing. Worth the trip!!!

Eva Siu

I loved this place. I also did the maze with the kids. That was so much fun as we don't have that in Miami. The food wasn't that great, but the Cavern was great. Highly recommend.

Beverly Flach

The cavern was extraordinary! jut had everything Carlsbad has except expanse, meaning less walking but crammed with wonder. Amazingly they include entrance to a first rate antique car museum and a great little village museum. I highly recommend this experience. If you are young as the rope and maze experience for a full day.

We went to the cafe for a snack and ordered a cheese burger and sausage egg and cheese sandwich with two cups of water. We were asked if we wanted bottled or cups and we said just cups with no ice.. We found out we were charge $17 dollars and asked if it was a mistake. The cashier said she had to charge us for the water? Okay but could you have told me that before we ordered? Why did you ask if we wanted bottle or just a cup if both cost money? We went to sit down and we looked at our receipt and saw we were charged for two glasses of juice? And it was $3 each? If we were paying that much for a drink I might was well get a juice? Not tap water? Also I found that our sausage egg and cheese sandwich was a plain sausage sandwich. This speaks nothing to the caverns but it’s the biggest scam of a restaurant..

The caverns are very beautiful. I visited this place about 6-7 years ago, but I still had the same amazement and joy watching these wonders of nature. It is very beautifully maintained and the staff are very courteous and make your visit a pleasant one.

James Reeves

Amazing Cavern, the underground lake picture of me here is 26 stories under ground, blows my mind , Wow. Loved it! Also in a very affordable price, it was about $20 a person we also got the museums for free and they are very nice. Then we did a great maze for a very low price think about 9 bucks a person but it was fun. It can be an all day unforgettable affordable trip, we took our own lunch, which they have great area with tables to eat or you can buy food there. We had food but it looked good.

Ashley Trejo

Great experience, it is not something you see everyday and it was 28$ per adult for the caravan museum, the valley museum and the toy junction of course the caverns as well. We had a great tour guide, which the tour was for about an hour and 10 minutes. This is a great amount of time to enjoy the views inside the cavern and take pictures with your friends and family.

Ryan Rauch

If you don't mind large crowds and the gift shop shoved down your throat then this is a great place. The cavern itself is beautiful but it is lost while your trying to keep up in the large crowd trying to listen to the tour guide. In my honest opinion the Grand Cavern is more to my liking. Still a large cavern but it's more intimate being in a smaller group and getting to know about the cavern a lot more with the tour guide there. It gives it an overall better experience. At Luray the organ tapped into the cavern sounds cool in writing but actually experiencing it in person is nothing to write home about. Luray is 100% paved and technically you could take a stroller but I'm not sure if they would let you. To put things into perspective the Luray Caverns is Burger King and the Grand Caverns is like that favorite local burger joint.

Chris Sam

This is one of the natural places well preserved and a good place to practically see the huge stone formations (still growing), stalactites (holding tight to ceiling), stalagmites ( might grow to meet them) and mirrored pools that we read in textbooks. It was back to school moment. A wonderful place to experience unlike the everyday places we are used to.

Esther Ramos

The Caverns were great we wish we could sleep in there nice and cool. However the paying for all the other activities was not a good experience. it should be one price for all. We loved the Caverns.

Patrick Mancini

Great stop that's not too far. They have a new walkway that just opened so you don't have to go down there step stairs anymore. Very cool seeing the huge things that have been created slowly over time.

Qiyi Yang

This place is well known, so if you come in late in the day you will need spend time find a parking lot close to the ticket office, but if you don’t mind walk a little far, the park lot is big enough for you to find a lot. The tour takes around an hour but depends on tour guide. If they feel less people for next tour then you get more time taking pictures, otherwise you have to walk fast to catch up your guide. The great reflection is awesome and there is also a sunny side up at the end of the tour.

Ben & Barb

We loved it! Make sure you get near the front of your tour group. If you are in the back, you won't know what they are describing. Our tour guide was great! The museums are also worth seeing!

Nadia Boggan-Johnson

Been once as a child, and definitely appreciated it more as an adult. Ella (not Bella) was a wonderful tour guide. Would definitely do it again to experience that beauty all over. The car museum was cool too! The manikins were a little off putting though lol.

Dhruv Patel

We had really wonderful experience. The caverns are beautiful. It was great to visit in summer as the temp was very low inside. The entire tour took about 2 hours to complete. The coin well was great too. There is a Car museum beside the caverns have complimentary entry with the caverns. They have many different models of the vintage cars. We really enjoyed our day here.

Gary Tansley

Awesome cave! Well maintained facilities and plenty of free parking. Staff is absolutely wonderful, pleasant, and courteous. In addition to the cave are shops, old vehicle museum, and maze. Access to the cave has been upgraded this year making it easier for entry and exit. Highly recommend.

Megan Currier-Casavant

Quite touristy. But the cave was breathtaking, the guides did a great job educating about preservation and history, the grounds were all very clean, and BONUS they had an indoor kennel to keep our dogs while we did the tour. The kennels are first come first serve and you have to ask about them because they're not advertised.

Sadashiv Shetty

Nature's beauty at its best. The place has been well maintained and the tour is professionally organised. The guides do a wonderful job with their commentaries.

Joseph Adams

This was a great place to be with the family and see the amazing caverns. I will visit again. There was so much history to it and the photo opportunity is great. However I would highly recommend you check your photos they sell you as one of the members of my group was cut out of one of the group pictures. I should have checked them all before departing.

Gopal Sharma

Had a great time! Friendly guides, decent caves. A little pricey but the other inclusions like carriage and caravan museum are worth spending time as well. Very convenient parking and lots of good places to sit down and enjoy with kids. Plan for at least 4-5 hours if visiting all the museums leisurely with kids.

Marvin Gonzalez

I imagined it being much larger inside the cavern. Thinking it would be a much longer hike But a very awsome thirty minute walk none the less. Pretty soon after entering you start seeing the stalagmites. Got great pictures and even cooler videos.

Rianna Ortega

Amazing place to visit in the good Old Dominion. Don't miss it if you're visiting. The tour was a little over an hour. The tour guide was very nice and knowledgable about the caverns. I've been here quite a few times and it always feels surreal to visit. It's an affordable way to feel like you're on a different planet!

Ben Sorrell

Great place to visit in the hot summer. The Caverns are cool. If your parents remember going...you need to tell them the stairs are gone. All 78 of them. Also it use to be a 3mile round trip walk and now it is a little more than a mile. Great opportunity t get some cool pictures. I liked it and would recommend it for families and teens. Bring your Giant food store card and get a discount.

Will Bennett

Luray Caverns is a fun place to visit! The tour is a lot of fun and quite interesting. There is also a car and buggy museum, toy museum, and Luray Valley history museum there.

C Cone

The caverns are cool, literally! 54 degrees year round. The tour is well organized, but our tour guide was inconsistent. She would stop and wait a long time before speaking, too long, and other times she would speak right away. Unfortunately we had 3 screaming babies on the tour so we could hardly hear what she was saying. We asked her to speak from the center of our crowd, but she wouldn't. The reflection pool is awesome! It looks like an alien landscape, like a Star Wars movie set or something. It is so beautiful! They gave us a sample of "natural" music in the cathedral that is really cool - mallets hitting the stalagtights and hearing them resonate. The caverns are really beautiful. They take your picture at the beginning on a green screen and at the end, they offer a photo booklet with your picture in it. We weren't going to buy it but then someone in our group did. You really get a lot in the package, but they don't explain it very well. I would go back again but probably not for years, not that it changes all that much but it is beautiful to look at.

Crystal Spradlin

The caverns were beautiful . I enjoyed seeing how they are formed. I had a better time looking through Car&Carriage Museum and Luray Valley Museum. These museums were out of this world . The problem I had with the caverns were that they were to commercialize and over crowded. It actually was hot in them .

K Taz

Great outing that can be enjoyed by all. The temp is cool inside year round so bring a jacket. The floors are wet/damp throughout and some of the declines are steep so wear appropriate shoes. Expect a couple drops of water 2 land on ur head as well.

Boilermaker Devil

Our kids loved this place and so did my wife and I! Very well done tours and the wait time was reasonable as well. We also loved checking our the old cars they have in the small museum next door.

Scott Florek

Very touristy. Awesome sites. Wished they made more severe warning about not touching walls. People were also talking during the organ demo. 5 stars if they were able to control the masses.

phase3ops

This was a great self paced place to take the family and enjoy. It was Saturday afternoon and not too crowded. There's lots of young people working there and they were all very knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly which added to the experience. We were also able to take our puppy with us which was great. The only caveat is that unless they're a service dog you have to carry them. The rock formations were really neat throughout the cave. The tour wasn't too short or too long and as previously mentioned is self paced which is nice. There are some steep slopes on the trail through the caves so small children and anyone with disabilities may have issues so a stroller or wheelchair would likely be a good choice. There's also concessions, an auto museum, and a garden maze (wife and kids did it and had fun).

Jennifer Finley

So cool to see we have passed by it several times and always wanted to stop so we finally did and it was worth it. Prices were decent and the tour was about an hour and half or so. They move groups through about 20 minutes apart so there were times it felt a little rushed because the next group was catching up to us so you have to be quick with what pictures you want to take. Other than that it was a great experience and I would recommend it if you are in the area and looking for something neat to see.

S S

My family and I enjoyed the the experience. So Beautiful this area of Virginia!! Mountainous hills all over and farms to see! Come to find out there are several locations of Caverns. At this location we visited the Automobile Museum which is a few feet away from the Cavern entrance. The Museum admission is included in the ticket price. I personally enjoyed seeing the old time automobiles.

Christine Muraska

First time here and will def go again! Huge gift shop. Tons of things to do on the same grounds. Spent about 3 hours here. The tour guides were very nice and knowledgable.

Gail Fishkin

Used to love coming here. Last time we went it was more commercial with the Disney lines and new opening. Miss the walk through with the guided tours as they were posted in areas but my guests really miss lots of information. Caverns are magnificent in the eyes of nature but disappointed

Robert Shon

It was very interesting. Our 5 yr old granddaughter loved it. She is into Earth Sciences, right now. She had never been in a cave. The displays are beautiful and informative. The guide was most helpful. The senior discount was appreciated (62 and older). The grand was free, under 6 yrs old. We enjoyed the antique cars are nice, all crammed into a small space, free with the cave ticket.

Jeff Bryant

Simply amazing.. a must see for all ages. Educational and Tour guide was very informative and kept the mood light with a comical twist here and there.. I will definitely be back.. all the museums are a must see as well.. a very interesting place.. don't miss out if you have the opportunity.. low priced and worth every penny..

Bonita Mita

A really awesome place to see. They offer discount for seniors and active duty military members. The caverns are a must see while in Luray. There are guides in a few strategic spots throughout the caverns that will give information which is neat. Highly recommend. Wear comfortable, cover toed shoes because some areas are very slippery.

Maynard Hodges

Very nice trip the caves are very interesting. Took 2 young children that were impressed with everything they saw. Would like to go back and do some of the other things there like the Luray Valley Museum. One more treat the cherry fudge was great.

David Barley Sr.

Luray Caverns is a wonderful place to take your family and explore the beauty of it. The drive to Luray Caverns was wonderful, after you get off the main highways you go through a lot little towns, and it reminds you of a more simpler way of life away from the hustle and bustle in the city life. The price was very reasonable the facility was clean, and the guide was excellent. Be ready to do a lot of walking and be able to go up-and-down very large flights of steps. The only problem that I found with Luray Caverns was, the handicap accessibility to the caverns, which was non existent. My young son, who was 6 years old at the time, has Cerebral Palsy, and can't walk. Unfortunately this presented a problem of having to take him down flights of steps, and his wheelchair as well. While this was the more simpler task then having to bring him and the wheel chair backup to the surface on those same flights of steps. There has to be a way for them to add some type of elevator to allow for handicapped persons to have easier access to the facilities. This would be my one and only complaint visiting Luray Caverns, Virginia. So, if you're looking for a nice little getaway for the day and live within a couple hours drive to Luray Caverns, Virginia, then you'll enjoy the scenic drive, and beautiful caverns. Enjoy! Take care. God bless.

The caves were awesome. It was fantastic experience. We went there in the morning at 10AM. The Caves timings were 9AM to 5PM. We bought the tickets and stand in queue for our turn. No age limit for children. They will allow the people as a batch with one guide. The guide will give all the guidelines and walk through the caves and explains the history of important spots. The first-time experience was fantastic and the caves were so scary too. Children may get scared. They kept the lights and made them look beautiful. Total 1hr 15min time it took to cover the caves. We can take as many pictures as we want but the guide insisted us to be with the batch as there will continuous batches went on. Guide stopped us at each point and explained the history how it formed and who invented that and other important stuff. He clarified all the questions. We shouldn't touch any part over there as they formed with chemicals and it is very dangerous when a single part collapse. The path ways was clean and maintenance was superb. At some place we need to be causious while walking as it would be slippery. Some other places were so short so we need to be careful with our head well. With the entrance ticket we can go to other places like Cars and Garage, Toys factory and Museum. We had lunch outside. The dining places and restrooms were maintained awesome. As time passes people count also increases. The other places like Rope Walk and Maze are separate cost and we need to buy tickets for them. Car parking was free.

Travelling First

Unbelievable place of nature. Cave was truly amazing. Wish lake and the dream lake are unbelievable. Every single spot in the cave is filled with artistic natural limestone growths. There was only one restaurant there and also it has an ice cream place. There is a maze that’s fun. Restrooms and free parking available.

Stephanie Gray

First time and it was amazing! The caverns are a beautiful place to visit. Although the temperature is 55° it actually feels like the mid 60s because of the humidity. Wear comfortable tennis shoes because once you are in the taverns some places are slippery and have quite an incline. Great mile and a quarter walk. Also on the property are little museums, a treetop adventure for kids, a garden maze and several little gift shops. On the opposite side of the road there is a museum about the history of Luray, a gift shop where you can purchase gem stone bags, arrowhead or fossil bags then take them out back and sift through the sand like a miner and find some treasures. There is also a place to purchase local wines and hard ciders.

Ruchir Verma

Wonderful experience. They offer cave tour, adventure Park and maze tickets. Cave tour takes about one to one and half hours. Temperature and environment is well maintained inside the cave. I however would like a 15-20 minutes of tour. Adventure Park costs 10 dollars and is fun. Maze cost $9 and is fun too. They have car museum, toy museum, car museum and Shenandoah history museum. Parking is free. Restrooms are available. Staff is friendly and helpful. Better buy your tickets online to avoid long queues.

Alex Preston

It was awesome! If your not a bit of science/geology geek it might not be your thing but it's awesome inside! Our favorite parts were Pluto's ghost, the fried eggs (not food, rock formations) and the wishing well and the elephant! (Again, not an animal it's rock formations people... Science geeks remember) but I think it's worth seeing for anyone that has an appreciation for the natural wonders in America. It wasn't horribly expensive pretty reasonable actually and the gift shop is full of all kinda cool stuff! Just go, you'll like it.

Dana Fimple

I loved it! The only issue is that the group tours are way to big. So it's hard to hear if you are in the back of the group. Other then that I have no complaints.

Dawn M. Varney

Beautiful caverns! Truly awe inspiring. It's a nice treat in the summer to walk into the cool dark depths... natural air conditioning! Our guide was great, really new his facts, and had a sense of humor. Many other activities at the same place. A great family destination.

Laurie Irlbacher

I had a hard time hearing our tour guide, and I don't believe it was their fault that I couldn't hear them. I feel the groups for each tour were too big. It made it hard to really enjoy my surroundings because just as I was drinking in the view, we were being ushered off to another area. If I were to do this over again I would opt for the headphones and do my own walk.

Philip Raskin

When it's hot outside it's cool inside Luray Caverns. The view inside is awe inspiring and worth the visit. What is nice is that this is a natural cavern, not enhanced by humans, except for some lights and paths for safety. Once you finish walking the Caverns check out the car museum. A great weekend trip!

Mr. Flores

Great place for a family trip. They have something for everyone a this place. I had to carry my 2 year old halfway through the tour, but my 5 year old did fine. He was a little disappointed that he didn't see Batman though 1

Tommy Rocha

The caverns were amazing. 5 stars. They said they have 500k people visit a year. Multiply that by avg $28 per ticket and you get 14 million dollars a year. For 14 million dollars a year, with minimal overhead, you'd think the little cafe would allow free refills for my soda. Took the over all rating to 3.

Sakshi Sharma

Very unique, very beautiful. Can go with your family but avoid taking babies as their are so many stairs and sometimes due to little water they are bit slippery. It's a very different world inside, very well kept.

Ayo Deveneaux

It's well worth it if you are into geology and nature. A good place for the family and a place to picnic as well. Come with very comfortable shoes with good traction, a light sweater if you are sensitive to cold as the Caverns are cool and be prepared to walk. Food is slightly over priced so pack your lunch. They also offer discount for admission with your Giant membership number (not the phone number associated with the account) so make sure you have that handy.

Remo Molino

So beautiful and so educational! Handicap accessible, clean, safe and excellent tour guides. Tour lasts about two hours so use restroom before entering cave. No restrooms down there. Cool dtore before cave entrance. Excellent tour for adults and kids. Caverns complex has other museums, food and fun stuff for kids and adults. Caverns ticket also gets you in other museums in complex. All very walkable and a great way to spend all day there with your family.

Jessica Healey

The place is absolutely amazing. You have to see it to believe it. Our tour guide Jackson was very friendly and informative. Make sure to visit the car museum. Some great cars to see. Could not do the maze due to rain but looked like it would have been a lot of fun also.

Diane Lentz

The new walkway allows for easier access to the caverns. We were lucky enough to visit on Discovery Day. The added candlelight made the tour even more interesting. The fireworks at dusk were amazing.

Tracy Lee

Luray was amazing! And the other museums included in the cost were really nice too. I'd definitely recommend a visit. The garden maze and rope obstacle are separate cost though, but still a great day to be had.

Charles Jackson

The place has a new revamped entrance. The tour itself is an easy walk as the path is guided all the way through (like all), but stroller friendly from what we saw. It was not as cold as some of the other caverns that we have been in, you may not need the extra clothing depending on the time of year you go. Some photos, not much to spool the fun.

Kim DeBlieck

I recommend getting here when they first open because it gets very busy! Also, if you purchase your tickets online you can bypass the first line. The caverns were amazing and the tour guides were friendly and knowledge.

Janene Groff

Get on the first tour for best tour! We arrived at 8:30 for 9:00 tour; our guide was great. Later tours had guides stationed throughout Caverns instead of with individual groups because it was very busy Saturday. Nice and cool 54° inside. The Transportation museum next door was nice too and part of your admission as is Luray Museum across street. Winery nextdoor offers tastings.

Elora Culver

The caverns themselves are beautiful, the way the tour are handled is horrible. I agree with most 1 star reviews, its cramped, overpriced, and you are treated like a quick way to get money. Honestly it could be handled a lot better. They need to better protect such an old and beautiful natural phenomenon, it takes one unattended child, bratty teen, or trip to ruin something older than our entire species.

Everett Williams

This was a really nice day trip. The caverns were beautiful and the guide was knowledgeable. We went in August I wore shorts and a thin sweat shirt, but some people had t shirts bottomline, bring a coat just in case. Temp was around 50 to 50F. Afterward we went to the adventure Park which my 10 year old loved.

Rustam Shirinov

It should be illegal to not visit this place if you are closer than 50 miles. So many amazing views. A bit dark to make nice photo. Regular admission pass also allows to visit old car museum which is also good.

Ashis Roy

Spend a day there. There are three museums which is included with the caverns ticket. The cavern itself is also very unique of its kind. Nicely maintained and full of professional tour guides inside to give you a shirt brief. Were able to see the entire cave with our baby and baby stroller.

M R

Luray Caverns is wonderful family attraction. Be prepared to spend the whole day having fun. This place has changed a lot compared to 20 years ago. It is all very modern and beautiful. Besides amazing caverns, you can enjoy a garden maze, toy and old car museums, high ropes course. There is a small restaurant and a big tourist shop with all kinds of treasures! It is not a cheap place. Adult ticket costs $28, garden maze is $10 and high ropes $11. Be prepared to spend about 1 h 10 min walking through the caves and have comfortable walking shoes.

Joann Waggoner

Absolutely amazing! I've been here several times and I am always stunned. If you can go early on a weekday, it's not as crowded. This time we had Maddie as our tour guide and I have to say she was the best guide in all of the times I've been there.

Douglas Wheatley

Great atmosphere, a fantastic learning experience for the kids and myself. Friendly staff. You should wear a good non slipping pair of shoes, but there is nothing that can be be done to prevent the water from coming through the cracks in the walls. I've been there two times and look forward to going again. The restaurant that we went to was a little out of the way but the food made up for that. Serve was quick and good.

Chris Dunn

My family always makes an effort to visit caverns when we travel around the country. We agreed hands down that Luray has the most impressive formations we have ever seen. There are a ton of them in each room you visit. Minimal mold due to good stewardship on the part of the employees. If I had to point someone to a wonderful example of a cave tour it would be this one.

Dr. K.

Awesome place! A must see attraction when in Virginia! The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Great history lesson. Breathtaking views along the tour and the outside grounds. Museums are also spectacular.

Barry Lee

Wonderful visit for the three of us. Our guide, Paul, did an excellent job of leading our group and answering questions. Quite a workout as well. Highly recommend to everyone. The gift shop is good and, yes, a bit pricey. But what gift shop isn't? The maze and rope walk add a lot of variety to your visit.

Amy Hartman

Beautiful caverns...largest in eastern US. Cement walkways inside the caverns make it easy walking. And accessible to people with wheel chairs. Slow leisurely walking took 90 min to see it all. Loved the experience. Highly recommend!!

stephanie coleman

Not too bad if this is your kind of thing. It was my first time doing something like this so take my word for it. Why 5 stars? Because still all in all it's nice to go walking in a cave at least one in your life. Some of the tour guides were kind of funny. Food was good. Little gift shops was good. I saw a snake. That part was cool. I had a good day there.

Kelly Manchisi

Super cool! I recommend bringing a stroller for a kid (ours are two and four and we struggled to walk the whole time), and get there early! We got there around 10, and when we left around 12, it was packed!!!! Wear comfortable shoes too! It's more walking than I thought it would be. Oh, and if you food shop at giant, just show your shopper card for 1/2 off an adult ticket and kids under 5 are free!

Andy Hill

Only my second time visiting but still an awesome experience. My daughter had never been which made it all the more enjoyable to see her reactions. It's a $$ stop with activities for all ages other than the caverns. Would definitely recommend the visit.

Sajith Nair

They have done a lot of changes off late. Now it's very easy to walk around unlike 2 years back when it was more like a hike. But the ticket rate has been drastically increased to 28$ or so. Also with all concrete pavements it looks very artificial!

Chris Latham

Neat place. Recommend purchasing your tickets through the website and getting here early. We arrived at 9:20 to a decent line to get tickets, but then bypassed it to only wait 10 minutes in the line to start the tour. By the time we finished, the place was busy and the lines had grown a lot. This was on a sunny, summer, Saturday morning.

Margaret Mom

I brought a group of 10 people who came to visit from several different states across the country. The cave is beautiful. It's a nice contrast to the very hot weather. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and approachable.

Pranav Bhatt

Great place to visit. There are many different caverns in the area. We decided to go with Luray as it was recommended by many. We were happy with the choice. It is amazing to see the nature at its best. Many different formations and beautiful views. Our guide Katie was awesome. She explained many different things related to the caverns and gave us all the details. The people have done a great job with the setup. The car museum is good. It is included in price. Overall, we loved it.

The Caverns amazing and the tour guide was very informative with nice bits humour and history. The ticket includes the car and toy museums which is a nice bonus. For a small price you can add a maze or climbing activity. There is food available at a cafe which does basic hot food for a reasonable price. We spent a good 4 hours at the Caverns and would recommend it.

Luray lost one star because entrance to the caves is $28 a person, and the food options are pretty limited while you’re there, but it’s still a fun time and a beautiful set of caves. All of the staff within the cave were great at explaining the different parts. Apart from the caves, you can do a ropes course for $10 or so, or enter a small maze for a cost. It is sad that the maze isn’t included in the price of the ticket, but oh well. Altogether, Luray is a fun place to visit for 3 hours or so, and you should look around for a discount (AAA, military, etc.), because at $20 this would be 5 stars from me.

Caves are really cool and the guides are helpful but they just pack people into the cave. The walkways are narrow and people are stopping constantly to take photos and it creates a log jam. You will deal with this the entire time you are in the cave so try getting there super early if at all possible to try to avoid this. Highly recommend that Luray Caverns think about capping the amount of people that can enter the cave at any given time--or consider giving people time blocks for when they can enter the cave to try to get a better handle on the crowds.

Real fun place, easy access, good tour guides, well managed and planned. Good choice in Cafe could be much much better. Other than the level of food options, two thumbs up...

A BIG sized cavern with beautiful features. The guide was great. Make sure and get there early like 9am else your tour of the caves will have a large size group and your pics won't be as great. The tour takes about 1hour.

Awesome cave they are now wheelchair friendly. the stalactite pipe organ was a disappointing gimick. The mirror water effect was amazing. The drapery was very interesting for the kids and super impressive The hedge maze was fun too. The rest of it is blah. Some of the cars and coaches were super unique but they weren't displayed well and highlighted in a way to make it understood at how special they vehicle actually is.

It's always amazing to see Mother Nature at work. The caverns are always a comfortable temperature. The tour guides are knowledgeable, and if you're lucky, you'll get a guide who only knows dad jokes. The tour takes about an hour and a half, well worth the money of the ticket.

One of the most beautiful caverns in the US. It's pretty big and very popular, obviously. The formations are incredibly old - some are said to be millions of years old. The dream lake is an jaw-dropping illusion - couldn't even notice the water in the lake until someone showed it to me. The wishing well is also nicer and naturally blue. Good place to visit.

Cool formations to see. Good walk. Comfortable cool temperature. Nice tour. 1 hr 15 min. Bring coins to donate to good causes at the wishing well.

This is the most developed cavern that we have visited along I-81, and that put us off when we first pulled into the parking lot. But I am so glad that we stayed and went on in. These caverns are amazing!! And Luray has the system down pat for moving a lot of people through very efficiently. We had a very young guide but she was knowledgeable, fun, and friendly. I highly recommend this for people of all ages.

The cavern tour was great! Best caverns I've seen on the East coast. Well worth the admission price. If you like to explore natural caverns, don't miss Luray Caverns.

The caverns are very pretty and large. The groups that they take through at one time are way too large. If you are in the front 1/4 of the group, you can hear and see. Otherwise all you are doing is looking on your own and have no idea what is being pointed out. It seems as if all they care about is getting very large groups through so they can take in more money. The car museum is very interesting and is included with the cavern ticket. I gave it 2 stars because most of the time, it was a self guided tour since the group was too large to get a proper tour. Our tour guide, Morgan, was very good and it isn't her fault that she has to take such large groups through.

The most stunning cave, I've ever been to. Friends, it is about a mile and a half walk, if you have any issues walking, just be pre-warned prior to purchasing tickets. The tour takes about an hour and your admission fee gets you tickets to the three museums on campus, which were beautifully curated.

The caves are fabulous! My favorite parts were the Lake of Dreams and the Hall of Giants. The tour guide was really nice and had good humor. I wish the group moves from one spot to another in a slower fashion, so that we can take pictures.
