Not good treatment of m'ikmaq , Native american veterans and abeneki . wabanaki are also part romani. in 1991 -1996 I attended some state school scouting programs/ st Boy scout troop 111 in Brandon . and law enforcement explorer post 111 at brandon district court. They were also using indian scouting programs at industrial schools. They were for early forms of indian education in vermont. they were though the brandon state school ( supposedly for the feeble minded indians) Recently i learned about orange shirt day . it is a day for survivors of residential and industrial schools. a few Modern day industrial schools still exist to day such as job corps in vermont and maine

This is one of the coolest places I have ever been to. Visiting from Canada, the tour was excellent. Learnt a lot about the history of the Legislature. Our tour guide was excellent and he was really funny too. He really cracked us up and made the tour interesting. This is one of the places that if I visit Vermont again, I will surely stop by again.

Magnificent capitol, both from the outside and inside. It's quite picture-worthy, especially at night when the building is lit nicely. The free guided tour was very informative. Definitely join one if you are visiting. I was quite surprised to learn that the legislature only meets for about four months in a year, during the first quarter! We were able to visit the legislative halls since there were no on-going sessions. At the end of the tour, visitors can stay and head to the cafeteria for food and drinks. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, especially the ladies at the gift shop. If you don't have time for the tour, you can check out the virtual tour on their website.

Was suprised how much the two nine-year-olds I brought enjoyed this tour. They set us up with the listening wands and maps and we went off on our own. It was a great tour for a cold day and it felt like a privilege to be able to go through the building on our own. Very nice!

We had a great tour through the building. It was calm that day, with our young three children, and they ran into the Lt. Gov's office, and she was very understanding and welcomed them in, and talked to the girls for a minute or two. Very cool, free place to visit! Beautiful grounds.

Awesome experience at the state house. Not only is the building architecture amazing, but it is laden with fascinating paintings. We received a full tour of the building and it's facilities from exceptionally nice people. Overall a great experience (not to mention it is located in beautiful Montpelier).

I loved visiting the Vermont State House! When I arrived on Saturday, I wasn't expecting to be able to go inside or take a tour, but I'm glad they were open. The docent was outstanding and the building, beautiful! I recommend stopping if you have free time.

This is the beautiful and historic seat of government of Vermont. Excellent free tours led by guides whose enthusiasm for history is contagious. Easy to find metered parking available nearby. Highly recommended.
