Best place to ski.
Large resort with friendly staff! Lessons are great. I took three snowboarding lessons and enjoyed them all.
Always a fun time with friends here!
I have to provide a caveat with this review, which is that we visited during the worst part of the season,. After two days of rain and then Sub-Zero temperatures, this mountain was in horrible shape. Frankly, we should have just stayed home and not bother coming to Vermont. It didn't matter where you went as the conditions all over New England were horrible in mid-January. I guess we can thank president Trump and his views on the environment for the changes were beginning to see. Thanks mr. President!. Now, in all seriousness, I can imagine that this is a fantastic Mount to ski. We really wanted to ski Castle Rock which is their most difficult and steepest to rain, but since it's all natural with no snow, it was in bad shape it was closed. The one thing I will say I didn't like was that a lot of their Trails are wide, wide open freeways with a lot of people skiing on the when they have no business being on those Trails. It seem to me to be very similar to Sunday River in that respect except higher end. One of the pluses of skiing Sugarbush in the Mad River Valley to eat not only around the area but at Sugarbush itself. I will definitely come back probably in the spring time. This place is Earth the second shot at a review.
Best mountain in New England! Not a corporate vibe. They let you free roam their terrain. Also MT Ellen which is pretty much connected offers some very challenging terrain as well as Castlerock. Pick The Bush
Daughter's wedding. Could not ask for a more caring and professional staff.... They know how to do large groups... Food, atmosphere, personnel, and venues were clean classy comfortable and professional...
The name does not reflect the serious potential of this mountain. Although it hadn't snowed a lot for two weeks, we found nice powder in the woods on the outskirts of the area. The terrain is varied and we had trouble exploring all the areas that we wanted to ski in one day. The traverse lift between the two peaks is interesting, although it would get very cold on a cold day. I am looking forward to going back!
This is a great place to ski. I ski here almost every week and have never had a bad experience. The lines can get a little long but that's mainly on the holidays. Overall I would definitely recommend skiing here!!
Great mountain with some amazing views! The observation platform at the top was really cool. Had a great first experience!
Very good for New England skiing but that is a relative comparison. Too much ice, short runs, and too little snow making create an average ski resort. I skied Colorado the same week as skiing Sugarbush, it can’t hold a candle to western skiing. Nice for the locals but not a destination.
I think this a great mountain to ski at for all skiing levels. Unfortunately it was a terrible weather pattern from rain and warm weather to temperatures in the teens for a couple days. Many glades if enough natural snow.
Great food very friendly staff
Love going to Sugarbush for their summer mountain biking and during the winter for their skiing and riding. Feels absolutely massive when you are there, so many different places to go to.
Was horrified by the rude and disrespectful treatment by the staff at the bike rental shop. Acted like they were being “inconvenienced” when I asked for assistance and they had to put down their phones and get off their chairs. Didn’t ask what we were looking for, had zero suggestions, gave us this old, beaten, filthy, non maintenances bike. Even though they literally did nothing to assist treated us like we did something wrong by walking in to the shop. Not sure why they “rent” bikes if they have no interest in helping people and an utter sustain for customers. Many other mountains in VT where you are treated with kindness & respect to explore (Burke, Killington etc), don’t waste your time here.
Fun experience.
Absolutely love this place. Great service and beautiful views!
This place is gorgeous. The surroundings are beautiful and serene, the building itself is rustic and romantic, and they have all the amenities you'd want from a resort. Pool, hot tub, restaurant (though that's so-so), even their own "general store." It's definitely an isolated area, but if you're looking to get away, this is the place to do it.
Been skiing here since I could walk. Used to ski for GMVS at North. Seen the mountain develop and grow into an amazing weekend getaway beyond just a great east coast ski destination. Through and through a great mountain with lots of great restaurants nearby!!! Love that Lawson’s brewery is open now too
I love snowboarding here, we came right after Thanksgiving, which isn’t the perfect time to snowboard anywhere, but the lifts and trails and very diverse and fun. I would say better than Hunter, and slightly less impressive than Killington
Best terrain around!
Would not have visited Sugarbush resort if not for the Mountain Collective Pass. I'm glad I did. Weekday mountain visit highly recommended. Lift lines pleasantly short to non existent. Spent time exploring Lincoln peak and Mount Ellen. Great march riding experience. Good times all round!
Sugarbush is always fabulous. Great views and well maintained.
Sugarbush is the place to experience skiing in an environment that is authentically Vermont. There are runs for every member of the family with dining experiences to match. The vibe and setting are unparalleled in the Northeast.
Best ski experience in eastern North America. Huge variety of terrain. Great on-hill accommodation.
A great mountain with some good challenging trails. Good lift attendants and friendly staff. I wish all the parking lots were paved... Everything gets so dirty. They need to get with the program, no one likes dirt on their boots and in our cars!
Epic views, long runs, perfect snow, no crowds, couldnt ask for a more authentic east coast ski experience. Thank you Sugarbush, for staying true to Vermont.
Sugarbush is definitely my favorite Eastern resort. Everyone is really friendly, the ticket prices are lower than many places, you have two whole mountains to ski on, the terrain is exciting for the East, and the tree skiing is great! The lodge is nice and après gets fun here!
Spent 4 days skiing at Sugarbush. Only offer day skiing. Lots of trails of different difficulties suitable for anyone. Pretty good conditions of the slopes while I was there. On last day when it was -25°C one of the lifts was closed due to the weather.
Never been to the hotel itself, but ski resort was awesome. Lots of different trails, pretty much anyone with different abilities will have fun.
Lots of great terrain and high speed lifts.
Great place and way more laid back than Stowe. It's huge, between the two mountains you'll be exploring all day/weekend. Plus in the spring you can ride the chairlift between the two mountains, which is an experience, don't drop your stuff though.
One of my top 2 places to ski in the North East. Lincoln has the better terrain, but it gets more crowded then Mt. Ellen. I actually prefer the apre' ski scene at Mt. Ellen. They have live music on the weekends, plenty of seats and a kid friendly atmosphere.
The sun was out early but the top was in the clouds all day. Conditions were fabulous, my compliments to the crew, they did a fine job. Spoke with Win as he was walking about, always a pleasure. He & his wife were out and about as 4 fighter jets did a fly by, quite impressive. The Switchback Ale is always cold, the food is always hot, & the staff is always friendly. Can't think of a better way to spend the day. Happy Birthday Sugarbush!!
One of the most beautiful place
Yesterday was that perfect spring skiing day. Good friends, good weather, good music! We skied Vermont in May! How wonderful!
I love Sugarbush! We visit for a week most years. I used to love that old resort vibe with the classic paper tickets and old lifts. But they've sold out... It doesn't have that same vibe for me anymore with super pricy Claybrook and the fancy electronic tickets that only work half the time... If I wanted to deal with that nonsense I could just ski at Mountain Creek in New Jersey!
Favorite resort and I grew up here in Vt skiing all of them
Great place with a great vibe! Make sure to ride the Slide Brook Express to Mt. Ellen to take advantage of all of the great ski terrain.
Great day skiing!
One of the best days that I e had skiing this season was at the bush. The glades were clean and we found some untouched pow stashes. Get on the ikon and ski this glorious mountain.
A super well run mountain
Great spring skiing on VT
Great staff and ski school! The terrain has a lot to offer everyone at every ability!
Big, bad and beautiful! One of the best New England ski resorts and definitely a quintessential skiing and snowboarding destination for those whose mantra is Ski the East! With two separate mountains (each with a separate base but linked via a beautiful ride on the chair that runs between them) both at about 4,000 feet, Sugarbush offers vast amounts of all types of terrain and around 500-1,000 feet more true skiable vertical drop then almost every other decent mountain in the East, with only Whiteface offering more. (And again, at Sugarbush, it's actually skiable vertical drop, unlike the hyped up claims of supposed vertical drop some mountains make by subtracting their highest point from their lowest - even if you can't ski from one point to the other!!!) Highly recommended!
Great place, great slopes. Diamonds were challenging though tame enough to get through. Temperature was near 50, making skiing harder on that snow. Even though I broke my leg on a blue near the end of the day, it was a great place to ski. Hope to be back next year.
Overpriced but worth it. So fun
Best mountain in New England hands down.
Love Sugarbush -Mt Ellen and Castle Rock Pub!!
I’ve been skiing twice and both times were at Sugarbush. Their process is smooth and the mountain is beautiful. My daughter had a lot of fun in her beginner’s class. The lounge is great but could use a bit updating. Food is decent. I’ll definitely be back next winter.
Great place to ski with the family
We attended a fall wedding here. the setting was perfect on a mountain. we took the elevator up to the mountain for the ceremony. The resort people were nice. view from the mountain was nice. I am sure it will be much nicer in winter for skiing.
Great skiing. A lot of trails to keep you out skiing the whole day. I keep coming back.
I had a pleasant experience at Sugarbush Ski Resort in Warren, Vermont. It took 6 hours to drive there from NYC, using major highways. There were 16 / 16 lifts open, a snowstorm in tow that eventually dropped temps at the summit to 8 degrees below 0, but otherwise the lifts were operational, and people were happy. The mountain has a vibe of mixed ages, mostly Caucasian skiers and snowboarders, and some families, although Sugarbush was not overrun with them. The Ski School is clean, attractive, and well - staffed, although I cannot speak to the quality of the instructors. Day Rates at the time of my arrival, bought at the ticket window were $139 per day, per adult, and it was only to my 2nd trip to the ticket window that I learned that there is a $210 2 day pass option. Oddly, while I was able to get my 6 year old a "six and under ski free" pass, my 3 year old had to "prove his age" - really?!? There are restaurants on site, non-motorized rescue sleds (vs. plusher resorts that typically use ski cats or snowmobiles for stable injuries), and a medical clinic. The grounds are well - kept. The ski conditions on Bravo, Village, and a few others were mogul - like, skiable for longer runs, and not too icy. There were light covered "expert terrain", which were well - populated, but I'm not interested in skiing over dirt. I would recommend Sugarbush Ski Resort, $$$ out of $$$$$
Beautiful place, great service and amazing ski time
Having snowboarded mostly at Jay Peak during my time in VT I've been very pleasantly surprised with the differed terrain at sugarbush. While holiday weekends can get crowded the mountains uphill and downhill capacity tend to spread things out after the morning and post lunch rush. Glade options inbounds are great but the real treats are in the slide brook! Get to the mountain early to avoid a long walk or reasonable wait for a shuttle to the base lodge.
Awesome
Great skiing, intermediate trails are challenging but not boring. Lift lines move quickly.
Great as always!
I am an absolute beginner for skiing and here I took a group and a private ski lesson. The place is well managed. We didn’t encounter any long lines and the equipment rental procedure was meticulous and stream lined. All staff were genuinely helpful and there were no feelings of a commercialized place that intends to nickel and dime you. Special thanks to our beginners instructors, Steven, Ken and Sam.
Without a doubt the coolest lodge in the east! Its such a pretty area and this fits right in with some of the farms you'll see nearby. Good mountain with fun terrain!
Great place to ski and thank you for the free Warren Miller ski pass.
I love Sugarbush! Many, many happy memories over the past 20 years, skiing here with my family and enjoying the Vermont mountains. I remember when Win first took over and he built the new buildings, they seemed extravagant, But now they are so much a part of the fabric or Warren and what makes this mountain so special. I don't ski anymore, but my family does. And it's great to come here and jus chill, eat in the cafes, read, and enjoy the mountains.
First visit to Sugarbush. We had a great time. We will be back.
simply one of the best resort on the East coast. Not as cool and posh as Stowe, different, for some even better. Sugarbush, Stowe, Jay, Whiteface..you can't go wrong here.
A wonderful resort, the owners work very hard to create a safe and positive community and they constantly upgrade their infrastructure to stay up to date. They almost always have snow too. No night skiing is the only downside.
Lots of activities
Super laid back summer vibe
I'm from mad river, so I obviously like it more, however I am not ashamed to admit that ShugarBush is a great resort. If u like mad river but want to go to ShugarBush then go to cassle rock. The food could definitely be cheeper though.
Probably one of the best resorts around Boston but the access roads on snow days are quite dangerous
We came to vermont to stay and ski at stowe. After hearing from the locals people about sugarbush we decided to give it a try. This mountain has amazing potential and is far superior than the surrounding mountains. Lift lines even on the weekends we handled well and we never waited over 5 minutes. The miuntain was meticulously maintained and the trails were amazing with some great expert terrain. Highly recommended!
About a month ago I went skiing there with my sister as a vacation so I rented skis, and I was skiing and they felt pretty weird and the skis weren't sharpened at all so I could never stop I would just keep sliding. I was on a really easy run heading to the lodge to get something to eat, when both of my skis popped off unexpectedly and I feel and broke my thumb. Don't rent skis here they don't take care of them, runs and resort looked pretty nice, just make sure you don't rent skis here, bring your own.
Your always better here
I love this place! Great place for couples or families. Great restaurants in area and beautiful scenery. I love the skiing here.
Very expansive and varied terrain that's well groomed. Just a bit pricey...but that's why everything is new and well maintained
Beautiful scenery. Rooms are comfortable. Be aware, no elevators. Parking needs to be improved. Complimentary breakfast was substantial. Is still a favorite.
Fantastic layout with terrain for all skill levels. I spent the day “getting lost” skiing, which means high up on the mountain away from it all. Highly recommend taking Heavens Gate chair to the top and climbing up to the summit...today I was able to stand on top of a mountain. Breathtaking views.
Super fun. Was hot and foggy but they make sure you have a great time visiting regardless of conditions
Love this hidden gem of a ski resort, something for everyone. Great staff. Great cafe.
It was difficulty to find where the building and room u needed to be in for a conference, but customer service was very helpful.
Great ski resort. Buy your passes online. It's much cheaper.
This mountain is beautiful! Never waiting too long, and the views are worth it!
This place is massive. There are really two mountains. BTW if your going on a Thursday it is $30 for Mt. Ellen only. It's not really possible to hit the whole resort in a day. They have updated high speed quads and all the lifts go quick. There are upper mountain quads that help to spread people out. During the mid week it feels like you're alone on the hill. The lift staff are friendly. Keep in mind there are some flat zones for you snowboarders. The steep black trails are really fast and wide open, plenty of room to charge. The backs on the upper center mountain are bumped out and challenging. The glades are steep up there.
The food was terrific and the view was excellent
Nestled in the farm fields of the Mad River Valley is a great family all season resort. The Green Mountains offer 4 seasons of fun and Sugarbush Resort is the hub that offers what you may be looking for. Concerts, weddings, car shows, ski and ride, snowshoeing, hiking...the list goes on.
I had a blast at Mascara Mountain aka Sugarbush. Terrain for all abilities. But some really good trees for the more experienced riders. Castle Rock trees were really nice.
I just had the worst experience possible at this resort. I wanted to purchase Season Passes for the upcoming ski season. I called with a few general questions before I spend over $2,500, I wanted to know projected opening date and a few other general questions. The front desk receptionist was completely rude, his name was Allen at the Clay Brook Front Desk. Allen told me he was busy and had no time to answer my questions and hung the phone on me. I called back and said I understood he is busy and asked if he could please call me back if I give him my phone number. Allen informed me he did not have time. So I asked for the contact information to his boss which he informed me that he doesn't answer to anyone. After arguing with Allen for a few minutes he finally transferred me to his manager and I left a message. I would rather spend the extra $1,000 to ski at Stowe or Killington before I ever give any money to this resort. I have been skiing for the last 30 years all over the country and I have never had an experience like this before. Truly horrible!!!!
Another great Ski/Snowboard trip
Great Skiing and friendly staff!
Above the cloud views in a gorgeous mountain setting!
Nice variety of terrain. I prefer it to almost every other area in the East except Mad River Glen. It's civilized and is locally owned and operated. Particularly good place for families and boomers.
Beautiful!!
Nice trails. Wish there was more powder, but that's not Sugarbush's fault. :)
There was a snafu with our reservation (through Innova travel) but Joshua totally took care of us and made sure we had a place to stay and were happy. I can't give him enough credit for how he handled a difficult situation. Additionally, the rooms are wonderful. We stayed in a 1br with the kids and it was great.
Really enjoyed skiing here, but I found it strange that there wasn't much shopping/ restaurants at the base as well that there were no gondolas. Lots of trails, lots of fun.
I love it there. Wish I lived closer. Best Ski Patrol! Mt Ellen and Lincoln Peak both rock!
Sugarbush is awesome. Lots of steps, lots of blades, lots of bumps!
Great time, from reservations, to assistance to condo, and of course the skiing. A great trip, our favorite in VT.
Snow was great. Sunny day but cold.
Top notch resort in Vermont. Staff are friendly, terrain is taken care of, people seem to care about their jobs there and do their best.
Pricey but some of the best snow and variety of terrain I've seen in my not so limited experience. VT has been great this season
This is a summer time stay review. The staff was very friendly and timely with everything. The rooms were clean, roomy and had wonderful amenities. The overall experience was very nice but you also paid for it as well. No complaints!
Mixed results ending with a really great experience with the ski lift operators but it began very poorly where they shut down the lifts early and left us and our kids standing at the bottom of the mountain with no way to get back to our home other than walking in our ski boots through the snow for about three-quarters of a mile. We got no warning that the lift was stopping early and then once shut down, even though it was only the matter of a couple minutes, they were rude and didn't allow us to go back up where we needed to go. That being said not every day was like that just the first one, we ended with some of the nicest guys on the ski lift and most helpful with the kids that we could have hoped for. Overall the skiing was above-average love the mountain but the time of year was a little warm and the resort shouldn't be faulted for the weather which was nice but didn't make for the best skiing.
Its an ok place but way too expensive i reccomend mad river glen
Very nice place to visit colors and Tesla chargers even if you are not avid skiers.
very enjoyable had beginner ski lessons teacher Tom And partner. very good teachers Enjoyed myself very much. Other 2 partners also had a great Time. Bar was crowded but took no time to get drinks and service was excellent had some food and enjoyed the hot wings. Also had the waffles and hot cider which Chocolate sauce very very good recommend.
The place friendly, beautiful with lots of option. Food and and fun.
Fantastic ski mountain with lots to choose from in terms of terrain and difficulty.
The best the green mountains has to offer!
Grew up spending 6 years here on our family March breaks. Great runs, snow conditions are always perfect. Lots of area to explore at different skill levels. Truly a remarkable place to spend a few days on the slopes.
Feel better in VT !
Sugarbush is one of the best mountains in the east, rivaling Killington and Stowe.
Great skiing, even though it was very cold today. Lift lines are all reasonable and trails are only moderately crowded. The staff are all friendly and helpful and ski lessons with Pate are highly recommended.
Beautiful, expansive but expensive!!!
It had a beautiful view as well as great ski trails. I would recommend going to ski early in the day because later on it became very icy. Overall it was a awesome place to go. Plus they had smores!
Best skiing ever today! No pics yet because it's so cold.
My first visit to Surgarbush was for an ESC Downhill Race, the facility is very nice and their trails are pretty impressive. Definitely worth a visit.
Love skiing the Bush on spring days!! This particular day we were sadly left with no choice but to ski killington due to weekday closure of S.B.....booooo to them for not letting us hearty, corn skiing bums have our fix with abundant snow on the hill..
Awesome snow so made it a great day
Enjoyed a great ski day. Our first time. We had some great and advese weather all in one day and had a blast. Seems very well run.
Love skiing here! Multiple mountains with entertainment outside of just skiing! I’ll get my pass here every year! Great for people of all skill levels!
One of my best friends had his wedding here, the entire party was well accommodated and the rooms were beautiful. This resort has expertise with hosting and it showed!
A bustling resort with fantastic trails and really quick and smooth lifts.
Great resort expensive food
Best place to ski in Vermont! Still have that home vibe when I go.
Normally good. Hit a cold day and it was all just frozen hard pack that day. Grooming was good.
Terrible wedding experience.
Nice ski resort with a cool little "main" street
Great disc golf course, nice places to eat, accessible rest rooms
Great mix of resort style scale/amenities and Vermont value. Lincoln Peak can get a little busy, especially during holiday breaks, but Mt. Ellen usually has a mellow vibe combined with excellent terrain. There's usually a discount for Thursdays at Mt. Ellen, and buying 4-packs of tickets in the fall (but good all season) is a solid plan to save money. Dig around their website for details. And go see the annual Warren Miller ski movie for $20 and get a free day at Sugarbush (a lot of dates blacked out). Thank you Sugarbush for keeping access somewhat affordable!
Package says buy ocktoberfest stay and get free lift ride but not true
Sugarbush has great service. Advisors are available to help with where to ski and eat at the resort. Meet the mountain tours are great for the first time you go skiing at sugarbush. Parking is plentiful and the mountain has lots of option for trails. We enjoyed going to the top on Heavens Gate lift.
Had a great time here. We went all the way to the top. Amazing view!
Fantastic ski resort! Voted 2nd best resort in the East by ski magazine, and for good reason. The ski area is huge, with terrain for all abilities and high speed lifts to get you there fast. Top-notch snow-making means great conditions even early in the season! Come by, check it out, and be better here :)
Best resort in Vermont.
I've been skiing here since I was 5 and I can't imagine being anywhere else! The community is so relaxed and kind, with great food in the valley after a long day of skiing.
Awesome mountain for snowboarding and weddings!
Amazing ski and downhill biking resort i love it so much.
Quite possibly my favorite mountain! Can't wait for our next visit!
Just got back and had a great time. Beautiful resort and nicest bunch of people cant say enough how nice every one was. Not inexpensive, but worth every penny. See you all soon and keep up the great work, much appreciated !!!
Lots of well maintained trails with good ski conditions when we were there. Lift ticket was a radio frequency card you put in your left pocket to pass through lift line gates similar to the starting gate at the horse track.
Great lodge, great people, and to top it off great weather on the day
I enjoyed it but it was a summer view of a winter venue.
Nice resort. We were there presidents weekend so it was rather crowded. They handled it well though. Solid east coast location.
Great mountain but unfortunately we visiting on a off snow year. Will go back eventually, though
Breathtaking mountain top views from the chairlift. Hike up or down or ride up or down. Here come the fall leaves. The lift operators were very attentive to our comings and goings! Wonderful experience on a beautiful early fall day.
Great mountain, little pricey
Nice ski resort. A variety of runs for all the levels. Slopes Contitions weren't ideal for snowboarders, very very hard packed and super icy. Connection with mount Ellen was closed due to the wind so couldn't try. Food is very expensive for the quality.
Ski the woods that's where the best snow is and the wind isn't
MY FAVORITE PLACE TO SNOWBOARD!! I love that its never crowded. I love that you can venture off into the woods. The Views are AMAZING!! This is the only mountain i have ever been on that i was higher than the clouds.
Great staff and excellent experience for a wedding I attended. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Great wedding experience on the mountain.
Great resort on a day that isn't crowded. Just park and walk right up to the mountains!
Love this place. If you want the small town real Vermonter feel this is where you want to be. The backcountry is great, trails well taken care of. It's privately owned which is important to me. Only 4 stars and it's not their fault. Snow making unfortunately this day and age in VT is very important and legally they are not allowed to use as much water as other resorts. Trails can get run down if there isn't snow in the forecast. Still this is a true Vermont ski area and town. With great skiing and riding for beginners all the way to the best of the best.
Fantastic place to visit to see fall foliage and celebrate Oktoberfest!
Awesome conditions and clean lodges. The only issue I had was walking....a lot! Getting to the lifts from the parking lot, having to traverse once at the bottom....blah!
I really appreciate the electric vehicle chargers. Got a really snooty response from Stowe when I asked if I could charge up my car. Really makes a difference.
Beautiful area and ski resort
Had a blast. Skiing was great for the conditions.
