So beautiful and was much more than I expected! The history of this place is just unreal!

Ron C

Rick Behun

the hours on April 24 are misleading ... it does not open until sometime in May

Marc Whitman

It's easy to be transported to Calvin Coolidge's humble beginnings when you visit. Plymouth Notch has maintained its (very) small town character.

We didn't visit the site, just went for a classical concert. The ad read like it would be kid friendly. Decidedly not. Excited girls got asked to leave. They were not 100% quiet (moving feet), but you can't grow appreciation for the arts by making kids and young mothers feel uncomfortable. The grounds were beautiful, and I'm curious about the historic site, but will have to come back without my daughter.

Suzanne Gluck

We had a great time learning about our history

Closed during the winter. But you can walk the grounds. Pretty basic, bunch of barns and a cheese store a walking distance from the parking lot.

Evan Cooper

Truly genuine historic site where children are welcome.

Sadly, I can only give 3 stars as this historic gem/tiny village wasn't very tourist-friendly. After you figure out how to get there, there is no directions for parking or where the building for tickets is located. Well, there WAS a sign that pointed in the WRONG direction. But after you figure those things out (best to ask someone working there), it really is quite a charming place, where you feel you're going back in time. I'll have to go return to explore it more now that I've found those things out and will have more time.

James

It was okay.

This place was an absolute gem. For the history buff, the entire tiny town is dedicated to the life of one, particular U.S. president. It is small enough to see in a day - or even half a day - but rich enough that I would certainly visit again. For the buff whose family resents being dragged to historical sites, Plymouth Notch is about the most serene places I've ever been. Bring a good book and read it, surrounded by rolling, green hills. Or do what we did: pack a picnic lunch, supplement it with some cheese (after you watch them make it), and have a picnic next to Calvin's step-mother's flower garden.

Ricka Patterson

Great cheese. Lovely preservation of history.

Al Murray

Wonderful museum and tribute to one of our more little-known presidents. The more I learned about Calvin Coolidge the more I admired him. Unlike a typical museum, the whole village is preserved as it was in President Coolidge's day. It is very enjoyable wandering around the buildings. Don't forget to stop in the cheese shop.

Will Wood

Great tour!

J G

Best president ever.

Keven McCuller

A gem of history tucked away in the Vermont countryside.

Worth the trip..

More than just a presidential home - it's a small village taking us back in time.

If you enjoy history, definitely make a trip to Plymouth Notch, Vermont where the 30th President was born. We went in the afternoon on Labor Day Monday and it wasn't crowded at all. Give about an hour and a half - two hours to see everything and walk around. There is a 15 min. video at the visitor center that narrates his life and the different buildings. Otherwise there is a 40-45 min guided tour. The admission is about $10 per person and it allows you to enter all the buildings. If you go to the cheese shop there is a small museum upstairs that display the different devices used to process cheese. This can easily be missed because you walk in and see the shop, but might miss the stair case up to see what is up there. They also have cheese samples too. The only building that we didn't get to see was the church and all the woodwork inside. It happened to be closed. The drive to get to Plymouth Notch is scenic with a few small towns along the route. It is a nice day trip if you're looking for something to do.

Michael Doku

Beautiful town. Friendly people!

Stacy Ross

The surrounding area is gorgeous! This little village has been well-preserved, very nice and knowledgeable state park guides. Too bad Calvin was such a boring useless president! Or if he and his presidency were more dynamic, this place sure doesn't present that (So in that case I should have given it a lower score!)

Diane Correia

Beautiful countryside. Friendly guides. Just a pleasant relaxing experience.

I have been to over 25 presidential homes, and this was by far my favorite. You get to tour the town President Coolidge grew up in; from the house he was born in, the local cheese dairy, and the small town store where he made the cabinets that are still in use. Full of history and lots to do.

Deborah Boersma

Wonderful site. Calvin Coolidge a indeed a man of the people. Not afraid of hard work. Many original structures and furniture items.

Margaret Black

Excellent historical site which includes President Coolidge's birth home, home he grew up in, cheese factory his father started, post office his mother ran and much more. The cheese factory is small but makes some of the best local cheeses.

G Aquino

We enjoyed the three hours we spent here. Start your visit at the Visitor Center, which has exhibits on the life and times of President Coolidge and his wife Grace. It's interesting that while the President spent most of his political career in Massachusetts and DC, he held a life-long affinity to Vermont, where he was born and raised. From the Visitor Center, there are a few buildings to visit, all Coolidge-related. There's the small house where he was born, which is attached to the General Store. Next to it is the church he attended growing up. Across the street is the house where his family moved when he was four and interestingly, where he was sworn in by his father to be President, after the untimely death of President Harding. If you like cheeses, there's a store built by his father in the late 1800s that sells locally produced cheese at reasonable prices. The President's gravesite is outside the historic site but is only a short drive away along Lynds Hill Road. Check it out if you have time.

It's a quaint little village almost solely dedicated to President Coolidge. If you're a fan of his, then lots to see. We weren't but were still suitably impressed by the fall colors and pleasant countryside.

Have visited 3 times with my family (including kids from young up to teenage) and it is one of our favorite historic sites to visit. The general store, the homestead history, the cheese factory. And if you go in the fall, the views of foliage sweeps you back to an earlier time. Highly recommended for any time of year.

Don't miss

jim catalfamo

i thought i was going to see just a house where calvin coolidge live but come to my surprise it a tiny village. i was told by the lady behind the desk in the museum that it was around 25 people who lived here. you can even enjoy cheese cake and the cheese cake factory or get a sandwich and ice cream at the wilder house. the tour starts at the Florence cilley general store where of can buy sweets, drinks and gifts. i didn't like the older lady giving the tour. she was a nice person but didn't tell you much. also if you don't like back woods dirt roads make sure your gps is set on on unpaved roads or you will find yourself on some. one way you will need a 4 wheel drive suv so i turned around hit detour on my gps and it took me on some back woods roads a long a stream. i love these kind of roads so it was fun for me but not my passengers.
