Spacious clean campsites and grounds. Well shaded and loons calling from the reservoir

Carter Neville

Another great state park with a spot for all campers. Tents to 5th wheels and everything in between. Helpful staff, great water access. Seemed very dog friendly too. Will be back

They charged us $5 a day extra for our 5 year old! I understand charging for more than 4 people when there are hook ups, but this camp is primitive. At $27 a night it is way over priced. The road in was steep and pretty much off roading. The turns were really tight in the camp and I wouldn't bring a rug longer than 24 feet in. The trail we hiked was mediocre, just like this state park. We will not be returning.

Absolutely the perfect spot to enjoy time with the family. Far off the beaten path, beautiful and well kept. No real amenities to speak of which allows for more focused time on family, nature, rest and relaxation. For river lovers, it just can't get better than this! If you want to come just be prepared to book about a year in advance.

Mike Prible

Clean park, spacious and fairly private camp sites. Make sure to bring quarters for the showers.

Steve Albert

Jess Mallory

A wonderful and pristine place to camp with your family. It's very well laid out and the restroom facilitys are kept clean. You can buy firewood on the grounds and the staff are very helpful. The beach area and the boat launch areas are very good. Just a caution to family's with young children. Recomend you stay away from section A, cliff area as there is a steep 75 ft drop to the reservoir at these campsites. Ask at the front gate when you check in.

The nicest state campground we have been to, comparing to many midwest and Colorado sites. Beautiful fall views of the lake or even the interior forest areas. Sites are separated from each other. Bathroom was close and clean and available. Hiking to historic farming sites was very good. Mountain biking single track flow routes were outstanding. Also the lake is big and beautiful and there is a swimming beach as well as a place to launch your own small water craft. Close to town so a good option if you want to eat out a lot.

Campsites awesome... lots of wildlife! Lovely water

Justin Miller

Best state park. Best. Cabins are particularly nice, and each of the car camping spots feel private and wild, despite being numerous. The History Hike is a favorite, and the Stevenson Brook Trail has some really cool water and rocks. The springtime high water is pretty impressive as well, and makes for tough crossings where required and where no bridge is present.

Phil M

The Best state park in vermont... secluded yet close enough to the Ben and Jerry's factory that you can visit when the urge strikes...

Kenny Reid

The best campground in Vermont in my opinion. Never in my life have I seen such views from my campsite. Beyond that, the facilities are top-notch and the prices per night are very reasonable for what you get. Definently a staple on any Vermont campground circut.

Chris Shouldice

Had a wonderful time, it was quite by 8 pm. Clean and well kept

Stephen Jatrinski

Beautiful

Noriko Whittaker

It’s a beautiful campground! Some campsites has stunning water views. It has one cabin.

Nofar Ben-Israel

The park is lovely and very fair priced. Friendly to dogs, and have a lovely hidden beach inside the park

Daniel Taber

The staff definitely make an effort to keep things pleasant for campers. Ultimately, however, if you're looking for peace, this place is too busy. Midnight wood choppers, obsessive bustling and car door slamming, occasional partying.

Beautiful. Convenient. And VERY, VERY, CLEAN!!!

This review would have 5 stars if not for an encumbering park employee who was quite rude and assumptive during our visit over the weekend. He approached me with a rude look and asked if I had dumped trash on the trash bin earlier in the morning instead of on it. We weren't camping, only hiking, and had just gotten there and taken a dip in the reservoir. He said I looked like someone who would do that. He then asked me what campsite I was at, as if he didn't believe me or was going to be "watching me". Incredibly petulant behavior by someone to people who were just trying to enjoy the outdoors. We have a hard enough time as it is to get people into the wild and outdoor spaces, we ought to not make it harder by creative negative experiences for people by power hungry employees.

Yaakov Newman

This was one of our favourite campsites ever. The sites were quite private and felt like we were in the forest. It was in a gorgeous setting. Be sure to check out the beach, it was very cozy!

John Giminiani

Such a nice place to camp!

David Foote

A perfect place to spend as much time on the water as possible! Great campsites, scenery, location, and accessibility.

Great mountain biking on a flow trail they keep improving! Join the WATA for free access during the biking season!

Great state park. People commenting on noise...it's not a remote site, you may get packed in and you can't pick your neighbors! I found the staff friendly and extremely helpful. Had a great time celebrating our wedding anniversary there!

lovely campsite for those looking for an experience that is not too extreme. the bathroom is extremely clean. there's a nice lake where you can swim and kayak (have to rent) as well. it does have quiet hrs like most places but the the sites are spaced out pretty well

Took my students on a field trip today, and it was amazing! The park rangers set up a fun hike in the beautiful historic trails. The trails were interconnected and looped back to the parking lot. The students were so engaged in the hike and the tree i.d. scavenger hunt, I was free to enjoy it with them without having to say a thing about negative behavior. I would definitely recommend the park for individual and school visits.

Steve Torrey

Very nice campground with a surprising amount of privacy for individual campsites. For a nice bathroom, avoid the bathroom nearest the ranger station. It's very, very small with only one shower each side (men's/women's). The larger bathrooms have all unisex single-stall showers separate from the main bathroom area.

Cornelius Hoss

Great camp sites, well maintained bathrooms, and beautiful location.

Beautiful place in the heart of Vermont. Just make sure you have reservations over the July 4th holiday

Pankaj Saraogi

Excellent.

Katrina Leavens

It is over 3 miles on a dirt road full of pot holes to get there. So don't plan on having cell phone reception. The campground wasn't horrible. You do have to pay to shower. $.25 per 4 minutes. Kids park is very small and plain. Staff was friendly. Made me aware that they have had bear sightings. We didn't see any. The sites were plenty big enough and not too close to your neighbors.

A lot of history along these trails. Didn't get to walk as much as I wanted, but totally worth it if you're into that sort of thing

Michael Davidov

Great campground, friendly, clean, beautiful lake, shady sites

James Brightwell

Had a good hike with naturalist Brian on well-marked, easy trails with interpretive signs (good trails for kids). You can make an appointment with Brian for a guided hike, and he is so knowlegeable he adjust his presentation to your interests.

A beautiful state park on the Waterbury Reservoir with easy walking trails along the river, affordable boat rentals, and quiet campsites.

Hannah Brilling

Great campsite, spacious but near clean bathrooms and beach! Had a fantastic historical/nature hike called owls and ghosts, highly recommended.

Katura Huckabay

George Rice

Very pristine. Loved the cabin.

Sara Alt

I love to camp here. Great place to get away from the rat race... no cell service or internet= refreshing respite. Come listen to the loons & owls.

Pete Bruhn

Beautiful state park with access to kayaking/canoeing on the Waterbury reservoir' hiking trails with historical landmarks and great campsites.

Mike Kieffer

Glad we went. They've done impressive work on drainage. I was thinking it would be a fine place to go after substantial rain, not thinking of the rain I knew was coming. Other places I've been to, I know I would've woken up in a puddle. I wouldn't recommend fishing without a power boat. Basically all the banks are incredibly steep. I fished them, but it looked and felt like I was about the only one who ever did. And there was enough wake from power boats that it seemed like a canoe would not be fun. And I'm pretty sure I was not there for peak power boat season. The place is apparently well known for its wildflowers, so it was disappointing that it was planted with invasives. Noise from other campers was really remarkably tolerable.

Campsites were very close together not much privacy could hear my neighbors conversations.Bathrooms were disgusting. The only nice thing about this campground was how big the campsites were and the lake.

Glennie Sewell

It is quite the Paranormal experience at night. We are the Norwich University Paranormal Society, and Messenger Guardians Paranormal.

jesse shaw

Hiked only. The trail we were on was in good condition even though it was not blazed . Drove around the campsites and made us want to camp again. This place is pretty awesome, though around the rivers, it can get very buggy. Employees were very friendly. FYI, It does take awhile to get to this park from the main road even though it is only 3 miles off it, it’s mostly a dirt road.

Maynard Ricker

Brenda Lacasse

Great place for camping and boating. Good boat repair shop in Morrisville, if you need one. Piper's boat service Not to buggy....Nice...and Stowe has a lot of great places to dine. Happy

Sandra Prudhomme

Washrooms were not the nicest (except the new one), windows open with no screen so plenty of bugs - door hard to lock in the stalls. Some maintenance and small mods could make them a lot better. Secluded private sites and lots greenery. I enjoyed my trip.

tyler bergeron

Love this place.

Paul Juniper

T53 is a nice site. Close to the nicer bathrooms and lake views. Bring quarters for the shower. Great reservoir and peaceful. But it gets busy on the weekend...go during the week!

Ben Morrow

Mountain bike trails with smooth downhill flow!

Caitlin Strong

Yes!

Little River State Park is near Waterbury, Vermont. I checked this place out when the State had a " free state park weekend", (no charge to enter for the day). So I went in with my bike and rode the mountain bike trails. access is from the "History Hike" trailhead.(you get a map when you enter the park). I took Stonewall trail up the side of the mountain to Bear Lane, took a side trip out and back on Ricker Farm trail(this was a mistake, but what a nice trail! I recommend it anyway). then hook back up with the Dalley Loop trail (big doubletrack for the hikers) up a short ways to Hillfarmer. This brings you down the trail to Highbridge, which is the whole point of your ride: This trail is amazing. A Monster downhill flow trail with sexy curved berm turns, twists and turns all the way back to Dalley Loop and the parking lot. This ride may be done a few different ways, but this is the way I did it. If you really want to re-enact my day, then be sure to stop in after your ride at Stone Corral in Richmond Vt. afterwards for a fine beer and lunch. Excellent plan.

Cindy Meckl

State Park was a beautiful escape from the busy surrounding area on a very busy fall weekend. We stayed in a cabin which exceeded our expectations! The new bathhouse was so nice and clean. The park had incredible views, and the guided kayak tour was very informative!

Roger Simmons

This is a great state park CG. We have stayed here several times and will likely stay again. Just realize if you come that there are no hook ups of any kind. On our last visit the showers were free but only cold water.

Danny Yergeau

Daniel Newman

Very nice camping. Great location to Waterbury and the Ben and Jerry's factory tour.

Nathan Rivard

Matt Renninger

Best campsite we've found in Vermont. Beautiful setting on the reservoir.

Benjamin Taylor

This campground is everything you could ever want in a state run park. It's gorgeous and heavily wooded, situated on the shores of the Waterbury Reservoir. Most sites have waterfront views and some even have water access. They sell firewood and ice (block and cubed). If you have exact change you can help yourself any time of day. Super friendly staff, very helpful. This is now my go to car camping park in Vermont.

Alexander Fuller

Nice location, Staff watches you a bit to much though.

Mike Reid

Great place easily accessible, great spot for family fun

Fly Fisherman

Looking forward to going back. Very nice facilities.

Steve Davidson

Waterbury Reservoir is spectacular year round. The New boat launch is going to really improve access to the lake from the dam side. Superb views, calm waters, and remote campsites all over.

Courtney Renninger

Great place to camp. Good amenities & nice views from many sites.

Great Camp site with friendly staff. The nature Interpreter Brian was so wonderful - our kids and us learned so much about birds, frogs and the different habitats they live in during a couple of the nature programs at the park.

Jean-francois Boily

Nice place big tent place

Ulianka Shishova

Clean and well maintained. Dog friendly, kid friendly. Lots of hiking trails nearby. Beautiful surroundings. Loones and owls calling at night. Has a warm shower. Nearest town 5 km away.

Robb Kidd

Great hike for kids which incorporates history and nature.

AnnSmay s

Love it here have been here every years for the last 10 years

Carol Edwards

Great campground. We stayed in Fisher cabin for 2 nights at the end of May and were very pleased. The only fly in the ointment was the washrooms - with a full campground and only 1 functioning toilet in the ladies' and the same in the men's, things were a bit "gross" despite the staff's best efforts. Seems plumbers don't work on Sundays. Other than that and the cold showers, we enjoyed our stay

Great park. So much to do here.

Dylan Covington

Have never actually camped here, but the mountain biking is awesome and the staff is very friendly

Dan PN

Great lean-to sites. Direct access to waterfront from your campsite unlikely. Public beach and boat launch aren't far though. Cool remote campsites on reservoir that are paddle-in only looked super fun. We stopped for a picnic and a swim at #14 and loved it.

Alan Shover

Very nice check in man.

Dave McGuriman

Nice camping

Amy Tallman

Beautiful location. The staff are on a power trip however. They also give you no guidance on,where to place your tents and then ask you to remove them. All while failing to properly maintain the bathrooms. Absolutely ridiculous and we will not be returning, after coming here for years,

Jessica Thompson

Little River was a fantastic camping place! You can buy firewood and ice from the site. Each camp site has it's own fire pit, many have a grate to make grilling or cooking over the fire easier. We were in spot 51 that had a really pretty view of the water but we were kinda close to neighbors on each side. Would definitely return to camp again. Theres so many trail hiking options as well.

Garry Sager

Great naturalist

Francis Sharpstene

Donovan The Animator

I love staying here with my family. Enjoy the view and swimming is fun. Also driveable!

Jonathan Korb

Vermont state parks are all awesome. This one distinguishes itself by its mtb trail (yes there is only one but 25 min ride up and UNBELIEVABLE 5min rollercoaster ride down, on par with many too trails in the US), it's beaches, it's proximity to Waterbury which has great restaurants, beer and quaint VT style. No cell signal or wifi which is a huge pain but I digress.

Kenneth Sikora

Little River State Park is a quiet campground with a decent number of trails for hiking and biking, and access to the Waterbury Reservoir for swimming and boating. The main roads are paved, which is great, and the place is clean. There is a small amount of history in the area, and the deciduous forest, coupled with the lake and river, makes for the opportunity to observe a variety of local birds.

Cal Murphy

Beautiful place!!! Had a nice visit

Bob W

Great state park, one of vermont's best

Brett Danis

I love VT state parks

Brenda LaCross

Loved this campground going back another year, great for kayaking and canoeing with my family we all just loved it there

Beautiful park, friendly staff, one of the nicest state parks I've been to. We stayed in a cabin, great for the colder fall nights. Was impressed it had electricity. Bath house was nice. Wood and ice were reasonably priced. The nature hike was pretty and the info stations had neat facts about the area. Definitely will return.

Laurence Bouchard

Nice and quiet camping grounds, we had enough space for three tents and cars on our lot. Staff was helpful. Excellent swimming in the lake, it's quite big so it's worth renting a kayak or canoe for half a day. Cannot tell much about the hiking trails since it was so hot when we were there.

luke kelly

The new mountain biking trails are great!

Matt luce

Love this park!

Dan Ross

Beautiful state campgrounds with hot showers. Cost 50cents. Most sites in group A have sweet mountain views overlooking water. Kayak rentals available and boat launch
