I mean it is a granite zipper, not exactly like the fly on your pants. It is tucked away between two buildings. It is really long with lots of flowers in the summer time. If you get tired there is a Granite seat...

Debdeep Bhattacharya

The zipper was very large and sturdy.

Just ignore the self-aggrandizing name. This is actually a nice piece of public art that is worth checking out if you're visiting Barre. Stop by, take photos, and then carry on with your day.

Not the largest zipper. For a thing to be a zipper, it has to be able to zip, or formerly have been able to zip, or perhaps be able to zip in the future. This cannot does not fall into any of those categories. It may be North America’s largest depiction of a zipper made of rocks, but it is not in fact, an actual zipper. It is in fact quite zipper-looking though, so I give it two stars. Would that art were actually so, but alas, in these interminable days where beauty is esteemed and recognized as little as prudence or wisdom, what ought one expect? Considering that, this is pretty good.

Was it necessary to have created the largest granite zipper in North America? What is the purpose? What is the second largest zipper in North America? The largest zipper in the world? Nonsense. This is no more or less Art than a double cheeseburger from McDonald's. Novelty. Kitsch. Glut. Public officials/Business owner self aggrandizement. Barre should have commissioned the world's largest public urinal. That would be interesting and more appropriate sitting next to Studio Place Arts. Keep driving and visit something else.

Made out of the most popular and abundant building material in Barre Vermont...GRANITE... kinda cool...kinda......fun fact 112 teeth make up the zipper!

Evan Robinson

listen. i’m a little disappointed by this, mostly because i thought it was gonna be a) metal, b) more upright, and c) just bigger. ngl it’s pretty long but the zipper head itself—as in, the most iconic part of the zipper, is no bigger than a pair of folded dungarees! well ok then. would recommend driving a bit further to ben and jerry’s in waterbury and grabbin some ice cream to go tbh. the hoodies in their gift shop have zippers too, and those boys are metal and functioning. smh
