This place is a lot of fun. See where all if their chocolate is made, enjoy a quick lecture, buy some chocolate for the road. Ample parking. Not quite walkable from main areas in Burlington, but worth the trip.
Didn't get to take the factory tour but tasted and bought plenty of chocolates for the next few weeks.
I visit this chocolate factory every time I come to Vermont and have yet to be disappointed. The chocolate is amazing- a little pricy- but for good reason. It’s all fair trade certified and they use high quality ingredients that make chocolate that is truly one of a kind. The tours are great and FREE and the samples are too. Everyone that works there is always pleasant. If your looking to get away with a lot of chocolate but you don’t want to drop a ton of money there’s the factory seconds area. They sell chocolate that they have in excess or that isn’t “perfect” by their standards. It still tastes the same so it’s still perfect to me.
Went inside for some samples and woman behind samples wasn't pleasant, helpful, or nice at all. Chocolate speaks for itself... fantastic.
A little expensive, but... Between a commitment to sustainable techniques and high quality ingredients, and some of the best ice cream and hot chocolate I've had, the higher price is understandable.
The free tour is a hidden gem! Couldn't actually walk in the factory (for sanitation reasons) but got a great presentation through the glass window, complete with learning about both the chocolate making and chocolatier process and samples at every step.
Tasty but expensive!
So beaultiful. Very interesting. And the chocolate is awsome
Always a must stop for us. Lots of tasty choices.
Good information sharing. Good samples. Nice decore
Always fun to look into the fascinating factory, know that we're enjoying ethically sourced chocolate and to sample some! Your staff is attentive and well informed without pressuring customers or being aloof. I love your products and vibe!
Although there was nothing being made at the time of our visit, they still made it a great experience for us. So many samples! And so fun to learn about the process of harvesting cocoa beans.
Enjoyed the simple and sweet, 30-minutes sitting-tour of talk and video beside the open-window factory...to sample white, milk, dark chips and the dark truffle, from when it began.
Try the Belgian Chocolate ice cream and you'll think of this as a new standard above all others. Superb chocolates abound also!
Love this place! Came for the hot chocolate samples & got a variety of chocolate "seconds" at reduced rates. Always fun activities happening. Love coming here for quality Vermont made chocolate gifts! Pre-packaged chocolate sets as well as specialties by the pound. Chocolate covered cherries and orange peel are some of my favorites.
Fun to take the "tour" (a video and listen to an employee talk, and have some free chocolate samples) and learn about and see how the chocolate is made. They also serve ice cream and hot chocolate in the store, and of course have lots of chocolates you can buy.
good chocolate... $20 per pound for factory rejects and up to $50 for others... I think not.
Had a nice visit here. Nice selection of chocolates.
Impressive. Can watch them making the chocolates.
Great chocolate but a bit on the pricey side.
Wish it was listed that they don't do tours on Friday's.
Fun place the tour was awesome !!
Delicious chocolate, free tastings and a cafe on site! It was a lovely experience. I wish we came when they gave tours. They also sold local products which we loved.
Lots of fun learning about the how to's of chocolate making!!
Their chocolate is amazing. The tour isnt really a tour. It's just a very knowledgeable staff member talking and showing videos as you look out onto the floor. It makes you appreciate their chocolates and values.
Amazing chocolate. The tour was very informative, but it was a seated video tour in front of the windows overlooking the factory room.
A must-stop during a Burlington visit. You come for the chocolate, but especially in summer, you come back for the ice cream, which is simply divine. Their maple milkshake is a special treat after swimming at nearby Lake Champlain beaches.
Delicious! They're is always a sample a able. They offer weekend tastings from 10am to 4pm. Sometimes a small tour or educational introduction to the world of chocolate production. There's a bar that serves coffee, hot chocolate, and award winning ice cream in the back of the retail space. The price is high but worth it, as the experience of high quality chocolate can be achieved in small quantities.
Aaaahhhhhh. Chocolate...... free samples yum
Had some great chocolates from here and the hot chocolate was good!
Great chocolate and treats.
Delicious chocolate with a nice factory seconds selection
Good place to take family & friends to see how Vermont chocolate is made and you can taste it.
This isn't a "tour" in the classic description, though you can watch the employees working through the glass. But I have to say - we REALLY enjoyed our "tour". It was VERY informative and we learned a lot. The free samples at the end were a bonus. So glad we took the time to do this. Makes us appreciate what goes in to making theses savory sweets!
I loved their dark chocolate
Friendly service and tasty selection of chocolates. The 75% dark drinking chocolate is very good. When I asked about the different varieties, the staff member offered me samples to help make my decision.
Great little chocolate store for us chocolate lovers. They do offer "tours" however it's not necessary a tour. You can view the process from an observation deck while they talk about it. The staff is fantastic though and, of course, the chocolate is amazing. You can even purchase the factory oops candy for a discounted price.
Yep. It's really good chocolate. Tried to be unimpressed, but that 5*hazelnut bar was a pleasant surprise. Hot chocolate fan? Skip it and get the darker drinking chocolate. Big, big, big, big, big difference. I'm sold.
Amazing chocolate and ice cream. Service was super friendly. Nice place to share something nice with your loved ones
Interesting place kinda pricey
Good chocolate and hot chocolate. Great selection. Tour is seated and got two samples at end. Views of the production floor during the tour
We went for the tour. The guide did a great job of explaining the chocolate making process. Used visual aids to really help educate our family on what happens each step. The chocolate they make is delicious and fairly priced. We appreciated how they try to utilize local vendors anytime they can to help other Vermont businesses.
Fairly uninspiring store. The sample...could hardly taste the chocolate they were totally focused on the filling which ruined the overall flavor in my opinion. Staff was mildly interested in the customers.
Always a good stop. The treats are tasty.
Enjoyed the free tastings and of course the chocolate is so amazingly good, it just melts in your mouth. The tour isn't too long but it's informative.
Refined and presented with taste. You are welcomed to sample on weekends between 11-4pm of three of their newer, and more interesting bars. The texture, aroma, and desire of the the chocolate send chocolate lovers into a coma. "Lets get chocolate wasted"!
Great staff, samples, and 2nds on sale
Absolutely beautiful chocolates and handmade statues.
The shop is beautiful, and the chocolates are delicious! However, the factory tour is not much of a tour. Only a small viewing area and a video. Still the truffles are phenomenal and we will continue to enjoy Lake Champlain Chocolates.
Family run, made by hand and absolutley delicious.
Chocolate is perfect and the tastings are great!
Every visit to Burlington is not complete without stopping at Lake Champlain Chocolates. Don't just stop for their out of this world chocolate but make sure you step up to the bar and try an Affrogato or a Malt... You won't be disappointed!
Nice people and good service. Prices are very high but it's worth the trip.
Must visit! See candy making demonstration. Sampling. Great ice cream too! Nice visit!
The apple cider chocolates were great
Amazing variety of chocolates & really cool store. We missed the factory tour, but looked nice.
Nice little tour and yummy sweets!
They have the best ice cream and hot chocolate ever.
Among the best chocolate I've eaten! Their store has a wonderful selection not found anywhere else.
Nice spot. The chocolate tasting was good. They don't run production on weekend, so be sure to go during the weekdays if you want to see it.
Awesome chocolate for a good price.
Great chocolate. Yhe fee tour was very informative and fun, better than a lot of the paid factory tours out there. We even got free samples. I'd highly recommend coming here if you're in Burlington.
Delicious chocolate and the best affogato in Burlington!
Enjoyed the tour and samples.
The tour guide was very enthusiastic and informative. Free window tours every hour with samples (10-2). A little pricey for the quality of chocolates but I have little experience of American luxury chocolates so am comparing to European brands.
Delicious, what more need be said... It's a chocolate factory
I bouht chocolat with quinoa , it was very good! Yummy!
Was too late to see the factory tour. I would not make a special trip to get their chocolate. It was mediocre at best. Would still go to the tour next time I'm in the area
The chocolates here are delicious, and the presentation is interesting and informative. Be sure to have some homemade ice cream at the snack counter. The chocolate ice cream and the mango sorbet are outstanding.
It's ok, no Hersery
Great place. Keep doing you because chocolate is life. Vt 4 life
Just going to say. Awesome!
Great place to visit. Expensive, but nice. They have a "Tour" which consists of watching a video with a guide explaining what is being seen. You can see the candy being made through big windows. You can also purchase seconds or firsts of candy. Nice experience.
Chocolate was only good. But super expensive in my opinion.
So delicious. The tour was a video and watching the bakers through the glass, but still interesting and the host was really good about keeping my dairy allergen in mind. Go to the drink bar and get some drinking chocolate. One of the best cups I've ever had. There's a discounted section of "reject" chocolate with some good deals.
Excellent Chocolate
If you're looking for grown up hot chocolate, this is the place. The Guatemalan is rich, dark, and fruity with just the barest hint of sweetness. Can be made with almond milk for those who don't or can't consume dairy.
Fantastic chocolates and quality products.. not exactly a cheap date though.
Decadent and delicious chocolate here! I picked out some neat things to take back home to family. The cherry cordials were the best!
Very nice, great chocolate ice cream, very expressive
Chocolate tasting on Sundays. Yummy! The factory is closed on Sundays. If you want to see them in action, don't go on Sunday. If you do go on Sunday, they have chocolate tastings. win-win
The most delicious chocolate anywhere
All the chocolates looked delicious and the ones we got we really enjoyed. Worth the stop in.
Love visiting this store and stocking up on seconds!!
They were very receptive and informative. Nice and clean priced nicely.
Amazing chocolates! We stopped by the factory in Burlington on a weekend visit. It was definitely worth it. They have a short presentation about how they get their chocolate and their process for making some of it. The truffles are really good. We brought back gifts from there and made sure we had some extra for us. The apple cider caramels are the best. Some of the chocolates that are prepackaged and chocolate milk mixes are marked kosher as well. On a nice day it would be a good walk from downtown Burlington but since it was winter and cold we drove. They have their own lot and we did not have any issues parking.
Chocolate is good However drove 30 minutes to the main factory thinking we'd get a tour, but but on the weekend you sit in front of the glass walled factory and read the info on the walls. Should have visited the annex in Waterbury for the same experience.
Yum! We love Lake Champlain Chocolates! Expensive, but a nice treat or perfect gift from Vermont.
Easy parking. Chocolate is good. Prices are a little high. They had coffee and ice cream there as well.
Great chocolate and friendly staff
It's a nice chocolate shop. They have a "tour" but you don't ever leave your chair. However it's a nice sort of lecture where they explain the whole process of making their chocolate. They used fair trade cocoa beans and everything they can get locally they do. So it's feel good chocolate. It's also high quality chocolate and it's tastes that way. The samples they gave us just about melted in my mouth. They have cute designs also. We went just after Father's day and they had chocolate ties.
Good place to have nice and tasty local Chocolates. Lots of kids come after the school. There are some free samples to taste. It was quite sweet forme but it was great to see the factory where they make chocolates.
Had a lot of fun on the factory tour learning about their stewardship with the chocolate growers. Plenty of samples. Chocolate tastes very good.
Nice place.. live chocolate making experience
Fun free tour , not great for kids.
Ummm...yes!!!! Divine!! Brought a big box for my coworkers and they raved!!
Yummy place. Got fatter walking in the door.
really good chocolate and free tasting
I really enjoyed the tastings with my friend. It was a nice place to sit and see the factory in the background. The Aztec chocolate, which is actually a bit hot, was exceptional. I plan to use it in cooking. They had so many choices in the shopping area as well as some seconds as well.
Delicious!!
Really interesting tours, and even when the factory isn't rolling, the signs give a thorough account of how chocolate is made. There are lots of flavorful options to buy at the store, but they're premium-priced.
Nice tour and taste testing.
We try to stop in whenever we are in the area- prices are on high side, but quality products ( did use Entertainment Book coupon though)
Don't go on weekends if you want to see factory in operation
Thought the your/chocolate tasting would be more eventful. Kinda disappointed in my experience
Very informative talk, I learned more here than other chocolate factory tours.
The chocolate is awesome and looking into the factory is fascinating. Yet, the short video declared as the "self-guided tour" is pretty disappointing. More like an extended commercial than an informative piece.
They're the best! Not only are their associates extremely knowledgeable and friendly, the store is set up beautifully! I bought a bag of chocolate a couple weeks ago and was so excited to get a delicious ice cream that I forgot my chocolate! They replaced it with no questions other than what kind I wanted.
Very informative tour. I learned more about chocolate than I would've ever known. Great chocolate too.
A short,but great your
Great experience! We tried truffles, drinking chocolate, quinoa crunch bars, and watched a cool movie on chocolate making. A spot that will be appreciated by young and old!
Love chocolate. This is the best!
Besides offering the best chocolates and ice cream in VT, we love buying the factory seconds to bring back goodies for our friends. I was also impressed that they sell insulated bags and cold freezer packs, so that your purchases won't melt as you go on your way.
Amazing staff Interactive and detailed tour of factory (tour takes a little less than half an hour) Delicious chocolate for sale and for tasting Definitely worthwhile
Yummy chocolates sorry we missed the tour
Nice selection of chocolate available great as a gift.
Excellent locally made chocolate, marshmallows, icecream, hot chocolate, coffee/choc bar!!! Awesome!!
Great choices and delicious seasonal flavors. The cafe area has coffee/chocolate drinks and most are delicious!
The chocolate is fabulous and the staff is friendly.
Great explanation of the factory/ free tasting session on the hour from 10-2
Good product. Facility somewhat small.
Awesome variety of chocolates.
Wonderful ice cream, not as sweet as Ben and Jerry's
So many wonderful delicious chocolates, and so little time, LOL! Wonderful place to visit while you're in Burlington Vermont. And, who doesn't like chocolate?
Awesome chocolate products and very friendly staff
This is another place in Vermont to go see. The tour was great the chocolate is awsome. To learn how the chocolate came about and how he sold his business and started the chocolate factory from scratch is amazing. Follow your heart and your dreams because you can be successful...
Great chocolates and shakes. Tastings on weekends.
Small tours, small shop, but worth it if you are in the area. Informative and tasty!
Love their chocolate!
Great customer service. Informative tour. Bought lots and lots of chocolate!
Free, good samples and interesting information.
Lake Champlain Chocolates are hands down the best chocolates in the country that I have experienced. I would always make sure to make a stop at the Factory or the location on Church St. I prefer the Factory over the Church St location because you can often get better deals since it has the "defect" chocolates. I haven't been to Burlington in a while, but I still order chocolates from them. I actually got my wife a chocolate of the month subscription for Christmas. My favorite chocolates are the dark chocolate sea salt caramels and green mountain chocolates, but I have never had anything that was bad. Warning, the prices are expensive, so probably not something you can have all the time, but definitely my go to chocolate place for special occasions or if I am in the area.
Wonderful samples. Beautiful dark chocolate artwork! Immaginitive pairings. A bit pricey but well worth it.
Only Tim Hortons open early morning
We enjoyed this place, got free chocolate samples, bought the Dominican Chocolate ice cream, which I recommend for adults who love the taste of real chocolate, also tried the Belgian chocolate ice cream, more sweet for the kids and for those that don’t like the strong chocolate flavor. For those who dream of swimming in chocolate or keep thinking of the movie... it’s not going to happen, the tour is visual, not physically where the magic happens but outside behind the clear glass. LOL. Seat for the self tour movie. It’s the same thing, try the samples and buy....most try the ice cream
Great Vermont made chocalate, ice cream , chocolates and more
We are visiting Burlington and if you are a chocolate lover you have to visit lake champlain chocolates which are delicious.
They are chocolatiers, NOT chocolate makers. For the dark chocolate connoisseur --- pretty main stream.
Interesting informational talk about chocolate with samples. Kids were engaged as we passed jars of cocoa in different stages and cocoa pods. Large wall of glass allows you to see the factory in action.
Friendly, accommodating staff & a great selection of delicious chocolates. Samples, discount options, and factory tours all available. “Tour” is educational and done from a windowed balcony overlooking the production area; they recommend >7 yrs old, but there’s a shop and ice cream bar, too.
Lake Champlain Chocolate has a very informative tour of their chocolate making operation and the history of chocolate. They also have, maybe more importantly, samples of their wares and of course you can buy many and varied kinds of chocolates. See pictures
I had to take a trip to Plattsburgh NY and went through Burlington,VT. Haldwayne through the trip my mom requested that I get her some Lake Champlain chocolates. This shop is on the way to the Burlington airport. I was able to get her chocolates which she thoroughly enjoyed. The shop is clean and the displays are presented in neat arrangements. They even have a chocolate tour.
Here is some of the best chocolate found in all of Burlington! Lots of variety of flavors and all made right on site. Some days you can even watch them make these decadent desserts. Also make sure to grab a big bag of seconds to share when you get back home with family and friends. They will love you for it I promise!
Got there on a day they weren't having actual tours, but it was fun to take their chocolate sampling!
Great chocolate and free samples.
Disappointing. No tour today. Chocolate over priced.
Great local chocolate!
