REVIEWS OF Killington Ski Area IN Vermont

D S

Killington is quite literally a beast. There are many trails of different difficulties across several different elevated mountains. Lots of skiable area and quick lift service. Plenty of photo opportunities and beautiful views.

Eli Young

Awesome resort. All the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. Awesome lodges, nice lifts/gondola and the runs were great. Lift tickets are a tad pricey, but still worth it.

Hessam Dehqani

It was worth taking the ride to the top of the mountain. It was beautiful and fun. But the whole area is not very kids friendly. It is wonderful for teenagers ans young adults with bike riding and adventures but not safe for kids. The could do a much better work than leaving all those buildings deseeted for summer.

Kevin Hersh

I love VT, guess I’m not used to tourist-focused VT like I saw in the Killington-Pico area. However, get off the beaten path and visit Thunder Falls and you’ll find, when you are alone with yourself and beauty, what Vermont is at its core. Maybe we should call VT the “take in the moment” state

Alex Aboud

Great east coast mountain with lots of terrain. You'll even find some really steep stuff like out west but they are very generous in labeling runs as "double black".

William Schlegel

Incredible skiing and Mt biking! Absolutely love this place. Best skiing and Mt biking on the east coast

Eliud Vazquez

breathtaking landscape pretty awesome place for hiking or skiing.

Herbert Hartman

This place is awesome, the best skiing in mountain biking on the East coast. Don't let anybody tell you different!

Robert Scibelli

This place is just awesome! There's so much variety here and so many different ways to go that there's always a new trail to explore. Secondly, the glades here are some of the best glades I've skid. These will forever be best memories I have of Killington. I'd be skiing down the glades when all of a sudden I'd stop and look around, and there will be nothing but trees and woods around. No lifts, no trails, just you and the woods. Very peaceful! It'll like a whole new aspect of the mountain. If you come to Killington you need to check out the glades!

Janine Di Muzio

Perfect place for a Spartan. Wayne at the bar(tender) friendly, outgoing.. great service.

Tanya Chesnell

Fun spring skiing atmosphere, very friendly staff. Love being able to ski in May!

Fern Beaudry JR

Received 7" in last two days. Wind blow most of snow to the sides. Powder on top a little crunchy underneath

Rick K

Beautiful park, nice trails, well marked. Gorge is beautiful, It from both sides of the bridge. Nice place to take a walk in the evening as the Sun's going down.

rich e. Miller

Oh man. This was the second mountain I had ever snowboarded on years ago and I'm glad I did. In the East Coast it's probably the perfect mountain to learn on: large, great instructors, varied terrain, excellent trails. I think it's the largest in the East (that's why it's called "The Beast") and well worth the 5-ish hour drive from NYC.

Mark Cummings

Loved it and will go back. Great ski resort.

James Pesotine

Love this place always have a great time and meet really cool people great positive vibe

Max Mallick

I've spend most of my skiing days here at Killington and even started here on skis with my parents at 3 years old. We used to have a house nearby making it a weekly retreat, but eventually sold it. You can always count on Killington for snow, but lately the snow has been bringing in massive crowds like I've never seen before. One thing for sure is that Killington can handle a crowd for the most part. I would recommend coming here to anyone that wants some great northeastern skiing.

Donald Mayotte

Everyone knows Killington is great for skiing in the winter but in the summer and fall if you're looking for a place just to hang out and relax catch a great meal possibly a show there is no better place

Ryan Sander

The mountains here are absolutely gorgeous!

Bonnie Parks

Beautiful views, quiet gondola, amazing food at the lodge.

Mark Cooley

Great spartan race.

Martin J D

Second tallest mountain in Vermont, great recreation, alpine events & musical shows.

Andrew Mcintyre

Pros: Good ski area, huge variety of trails and difficulties. Trail ratings skew towards beginners. RFID gates at the lifts keep lines moving. Cons: usually quite crowded, trail conditions and maintenance are not consistent, tends to attract a lot of aggressive/rude skiers & snowboarders. Over all, the ski area is great, the customer base could use a little work.

BigPlayBoy445

Favorite skiing place I’ve been to, I understand why they call it the beast of the east, glades are open almost year round, the only con I had was that the steep trails can get icy on sunny days but that isn’t a that big of a deal because the best part about killington is easily the glades

agsayaa arasu

It was a lovely gondola ride. But make sure to check on the visiting day's weather. If it's foogy/cold your view from the peak will not be good! Best time to take the ride is in the fall season.

K.E. Karthik

One of the best places to learn skiing/snowboarding!! Had an amazing time here and chose snowboarding and the instructors were so down to earth and made sure they taught me everything I need to become a good snowboarder someday! Would definitely recommend this place to everyone!

B TT

Huge, confusing trails....open early usually..amazing Children lessons my 4 yr old loved it...very expensive

Trevor Brubaker

Definitely need to go hear if you are a skier or snowboarder...snow was beautiful

Patrick Redmond

best mtn on the east coast. tons of terrain: steeps, woods, parks, long runs, and tons of places to have a drink all over the mtn. k1 lodge is a hall of a party on a Friday and Saturday :)

John DiMarzio

My group and I had a fantastic week of skiing at Killington, awesome conditions and an incredible mountain. HOWEVER, after our 5 day stay in a really nice condo, we took a few hours the morning we left to clean. I made use of the checklists hung up in the condo to ensure we complete all tasks prior to checkout. Once we finished, we double checked furnishings, and other items left in the house to make sure nothing was damaged or filthy. We cleaned as best as possible with the limited cleaning supplies that we had. There were no brooms, mops, or anything else provided to clean the condo upon departure so we used paper towels and disinfectant wipes to clean any messes. Once we determined the condo clean, we left after a double check of the departure list. A week later I only received half of my security deposit. Its worth noting that my group included seven college guys so it seems to me that Killington Resort took advantage of our age, an assumed we would think there was a mess we made and forgot about in order to swipe a quick $150 from us. Ive been trying to contact the supervisor of the condominiums for about two weeks and Ive got in touch with people or left messages five separate times. Each time I was told Id be contacted, but I haven't heard from anyone. Very frustrating. I will not be staying at the Killington resort again, and if you would like to avoid an expensive heading, Id suggest selecting lodging that is not attached to Killington Resort. The 15-20 minute ride to the mountain might be worth a $150-$300 headache...

Michael Russo

Beautiful mountain. This was my first time up there. The area is massive. Lots of options for every level. Only issues was with ski lessons for my 4 year old. They only had two options... All day group (8-330) or one hour private that are nearly the same price. I was hoping for a shorter/half day program. I went with the one hour private as I didn't think my daughter would last the whole day with an instructor. The private instructor was great but one hour wasn't really enough. Otherwise everything was great. The carpet operators at Snowshed were awesome! They gave my daughter hi-fives and encouragement every time and she thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Overall conditions and facilities were great. Can't wait to go back!

Carla Stem

Year around fun, great for kids summer fun park, mountain biking, hiking , and of course a total winter playground!

Fabian J

Go here for the annual World Cup. It’s a fun event with a good vibe and lots of stands. The food is mediocre and expensive. 2 beers + 2 hotdogs = $40 . Take the free bus from one of the lower parking lots and you’ll get in and out quickly. There are concerts after the event, too.

Gene Hirschel

So many different activities in one go to location. Whether you love mountain biking, nature walks, the Adventure Center, the pool, or just going to the top of the mountain for the view and a beer, there's a little bit for everyone. Did I mention they have a golf course? They do. And of course, there is skiing. The best snow in the Northeast by far. The best ski and snowboarding experience in the Northeast by far. Nothing even compares.

Ryan Adami

It’s the Beast of the East! Killington is a great mountain. Tons of terrain for all types of skiers, and great summer activities too. For those of drinking age, be sure to hit up the umbrella bars for great beer, cocktails, and unbeatable views.

Pavel Penev

A good selection of ski runs at multiple elevations. There was plenty of snow in the later part of March. The top can get windy with low visibility when it's snowing. The bottom parts of the lower runs got one warm on one of these March days, and the snow was soft. The next day even the bottom parts were great again.

Jj Zielinski

Was definitely the most fun I have had in a while. Trails were excellent as well as there terrain park. For my first time skiing out of Pennsylvania, I could not have been more happy about 10/10 would recommend

Brad Espenshade

Well this is the second weekend in May and I'm on a ski sloap. I've been coming up here for years, doing even day trips since it's only a 6 hour drive for me. They are making lots of improvements new buildings new trails and more. That does mean the price of a lift ticket will probably go up again.

Patricia Lucio

Great ski resort, 'The Beast on the East', more than a hundred trails, several lifts, several mountains, conveniently located lodges, fun for all the family, kids friendly and some bars, killington is a great mountain for a ski vacation. Free shuttle service in the mountain, happy and friendly staff all around.

Erin Hayes

Best ski area in New England, hand's down. As good as many in the west. The strength comes from the organization of the lifts and base lodges, which are spread out. Even when the mountain is at its busiest (vacation week, etc.), the mountain is not crowded and the lift lines are never more than 5-10 minutes (even the gondolas). We went to Stowe one year, where all lifts go to a few places, and experienced inferior skiing and long lift lines. Great grooming and great, numerous trails.

Davene Brown

The ride up in gondola was glorious & restaurant on top scrumptious!

Shelley Kitchen

I stayed st Chalet Killington. It was a cozy place. The staff went above with things and offered many suggestions for places to eat and be entertained. Beautiful fall colors. Peaceful area

Grzegorz Mazurkiewicz

Hope this season will have more snow great place for inter mid ski and snowboarders

Eric Winterhalt

I loved visiting here, but in the freestyle park I was yelled at for falling after jumping a set of stairs by an employee... How is one supposed to learn when falling is not aloud? I was safe and the area was clear. You'd think at a world class ski resort this would have been handled better.

Ryan VanVeen

What a beautiful place. And massive! I would recommend that if you go in a group, you know exactly which runs you are going to hit on the way down and which lift you want to end up at. I would recommend that you hike to the peak (the catwalk) at least once, it's pretty breathtaking. If you're into long easy runs, this place has it. If you're into fast double black diamonds, got it. If you like glades, check. If you want to hit up a park, many options here. All in all, this is a very well rounded resort. Even the food was amazing (Jamaican Jerk loaded fries). My only complaint is that it is difficult to experience the full vertical of this place. No single lift brings you from the very bottom to the highest peak.

COL

The best! Longest ski season pass if you want to ski! Great ski community too.

Jon Williams

This is certainly a big area, trail layout is such that only expert trails off the gondola, Killington peak? They boast over 3000 vertical ft. Definitely not skiable off any single lift as you'd get at say Snowbird. Overall, more of an advanced expert area.

joon hwang

One of the best in northeast, if not the best. Had to purchase card to load and $5 ea. Seemed bit unreasonable. Specially when other resort only charges $1 or $2.

Brandon Fletcher

The Beast of the East! Great overall experience and super friendly and courteous staff!

Lisa Dunbar

Went there for a Spartan race. Awesome!

Doug Gnutti

I get the draw of this place. I do. The mountain(s) are large, the lifts are well organized. The lodges are well-run. The bars are well stocked with the brands and bands you come to Vermont for. The scenery is incredible, and the conditions were great I actually thought the skiing itself was fantastic. Until we went further north and hit those mountains. Then, all of a sudden, Killington felt too close to NY, too windy, kinda crowded. If you are looking for the full east coast skiing experience, by all means you have to come here. Just don't stop there and think you've seen it all.

Megan Sault

Outdoor adventures whether winter or summer there is fun to be had! Skiing and mountain biking are just two favorites. Maybe you'll find yourself at the Spartan Race? Whichever way you choose, I'm certain you'll find parking, accomodations, great food and excellent service.

Jonathan Gohl

The fickle winter weather that plagues the Northeast is little match for the highly skilled mountain operations crew at Killington. Driving up Killington Rd. from Rutland reveals the majestic peaks of the massive resort that is Killington. I give this place 5 stars because it is accessible and enjoyable for all levels of skier and rider while providing ample opportunity for adventure. I've skied many places in the world but keep making the 12 hour drive here because of the wonderful staff, the satisfying runs, the beautiful scenery, and the saddness we feel every time we leave. This place will get into the depths of your soul.

tiny bubble

I can only write a review based on mid April experience. When most resorts are closed for the season. This place stays open... and fun. K1 gondola stays open and 2-3 other major lifts. We skied for 3 days and never had to wait in line. Staff are friendly, food abundant. Snow in April is still mostly powder, some slush there. The moguls are forgiving. This was worth the trek.

Louie Rousseau

Great views from the Peak Lodge!

james young

Always the best for early and late season. You can't beat" the Beast"!

Drew Limm

Been here a few times -- best place to board on the east coast IMO. Big mountain, and most of the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. You can tell they are happy with what they do.

Andrea Gohl

First rate. Tons of trails for all ages and ski levels. The mountain and the views from the mountain are so amazing.

Subidoo STI

Simply my favorite ski area in the Northeast. Way better than Sunday River lol (rivals).

george fraser jr

I don’t ski but I do stay at the Killington Grand once in a while and I can tell you that the place is very meticulously run

Garry Powell

The beast of the East is the best place in the east to ski for all levels of skiers. Tremendous lift access to a wide range of terrain. Been sking there for over 30 years.

Erik Lepito

One of the best on the east coast. Stay warm and dry in their gondolas. We went in April and they were working hard to keep conditions good for warm spring skiing.

Thomas Wright

One of my favorite places to snowboard can't wait for the first run of the Season November can't get here fast enough

David Katz

The best skiing on the east by far. Can get a bit icy, but that's expected. The staff is all so nice and it's always a fun time.

Ryan Jordan

One of the best places to go on the east coast. Lots of terrain. Some gondolas and covered chairs. (it gets cold up there in the middle of the winter!)

Corey Okst

Quite a resort. Jam packed with trails and trees, almost anything there is skiable if you push yourself. Just as well the variety of terrain parks was absolutely mind blowing.

Gino Nicolosi

A winter wonderland. Tons of lifts, plenty of fun diverse terrain, big cozy lodges with comfort food. I love Vermont and I am having a blast at Killington

Moshe Spilman

Nice views and not too expensive

Sarah Mossburg

This was definitely spring skiing. But still enjoyed ourselves immensely given the limited terrain. And the fact that we we're still skiing this late in April is great.

Anthony DePerrio

one of the best places to ski I'm all the north east. with all their lifts you never have to wait for than 10 minutes in a line

John

Great runs, two gondolas are nice for cold weather

Kort Walsh

Snow! Snow! Snow! Snow! Snow! Snow! Snow! Snow! Snowboarding and stuff is a good thing for you and you guys to work out with your friends for the next week and I can get them tomorrow or tomorrow if I can do something tomorrow for sure and then go back home and get back home.

Mike

Always a great experience at Killington. Their number of trails and acreage is unmatched on East Coast.

Beverly Brooks

Beautiful view! Nice folks. Fun!

Justin Sosnowski

As a prior Colorado resident this place is on par with the best of all ski resorts. The snow is great, trees are endless, and years can be spent exploring the multiple peaks. Dollar for dollar this place is outstanding! Security and trust of your gear sets this place in a new category of ski resorts. Go Killington!! I'll be back.

Jordan Mikesell

Awesome ski resort. Good lifts and long runs. Things to know: get your ticket online in advance and have the lift card mailed to you (or if you have a card, add money online) - the ticket office love was a little crazy. Lift lines aren't bad though, they know how to do it efficiently - there are a bunch of lifts and 2 gondolas. Also get a waffle from one of the many waffle huts on the slopes - cash only but that's a freaking good waffle.

J. M.

Beautiful during winter and summer.

Mediterranean Tea

Love this mountain. You will always have a good time here. There is so much terrain here to snowboard on that after so many years I'm still finding new runs. Love it.

Courtney Lamothe

This place is incredible! So much to do here its hard to get bored! Theres shops everywhere if you break or lose anything. The staff is so nice and so are the other people on the mountain. Overall a fantastic atmosphere.

Adam Lombroso

Wonderful to hike/bike in the fall with the changing leaves

Ryan Flynn

Downhill mountain biking and hiking are fun as hell! Near Green Mountain Trails - phenomenal riding. Awesome beer and food all summer, and a killer kids program. And, winter is loaded with skiing, snowboarding and all kinds of winter activities from Backcountry touring, snowshoeing, climbing and great nightlife.

Yicheng Zhang

Wonderland. Best ski area in the east coast.

Eli Michalowitz

Great place love it especially in the summer

Chirag Patil

Best place to enjoy fall colors

Peeter Smith

Omg this is an amazing place for snowboarding!!

Bryan Kipke

Well known and it is easy to see why. The ski area is huge and there are plenty of activities in the summer. Worth the visit anytime.

Jared Streeter

No one closes a season like Killington. You've gotta really love it to ski the Beast in the spring time, but the vibe is real. Ski, golf, and ride your bike all in one day of you want!

Chloe Cincotta

We visited when only a few trails were open, but still had a great time being from western mass. This was great to get us in shape in November. We will definitely be back!! The nearby area is nice too, with great hotels and restaurants.

Sally Klimp

Great resort, and I believe the largest on the east coast. Plenty of challenging trails and long winding easy trails too. I recommend keeping a map handy, its easy to lose your way!

Nozima Kudrow

First time here and I loved it

jib_jeep79

$124 is a bit on the expensive side and I disagree with some people's comments about it taking years to explore the entire area, but this place is a fantastic place to snowboard. I was able to snowboard the entire resort and hit nearly all of the runs in one day. Lines weren't too bad and since I was a single rider I was able to bypass a lot of the wait times. Really the only place I saw a decent line was at the K1 Gondola and even there I only waited a few minutes to get on. The snow conditions were great although there were some pretty icy areas that revealed themselves toward the end of the day. I'll definitely return to Killington.

kali casson

Beautiful mountains, suggest taking a gondola ride and enjoy the views!

R. Brian English

Plenty of lodges and lifts. Holiday weekend got a little crowded but with the crazy snowfall the slopes were perfect. We spent most of our time on ramshead. The runs were long enough and not too difficult but still adventurous. I only get to board 3 days a year and this was a great weekend and excellent spot for it. I do understand that this is a tourist town but the prices for everything is a little high. Kind of like a theme park otherwise this would be 5 stars.

James Kafka

Three days of wonderful skiing this week. Friendly staff. Removing one star due to snow covered signage on the runs. Someone should be assigned sign duty. Anyone not intimately familiar with the resort can get lost, especially when conditions are foggy. Other than that, fine resort.

Jason Anderson

Soooooo much to do and soooooo beautiful

bob francis

Very good place for skiing. The new lift is awesome. The new gondola cabins are very comfortable. The new tunnels make it a lot easier for beginner skiers to get around. Would reccomend.

Denis Klyuzov

Great skiing resort for expert skiers and snowboarders, but wouldn’t recommend it for beginners. I was snowboarding for the third time, and found the beginner slopes to be somewhat steeper compared to other resorts like Shawnee or Camelback. Still had a great experience and lots of fun. Recommend coming here.

Emelyn Velazquez -Medina

I had the most amazing time with my husband. We went to the top of the mountain and the view was extravagant! You have to try the honey bbq chicken

Jay Hiatt

Best skiing I've found--at least on the East coast. Well-run, good signage, and helpful ski ambassadors at the top of pretty much every lift to help plan your routes, when needed. Large ski area that is pretty much impossible to fully cover in a day. Favorite run: Great Eastern. If taken (with a couple connectors) from the summit all the way down to Skyeship, it is a 5+ mile run.

Clint Ren

Worst Ski lesson experience ever!!! I Signed up group lesson for my 7 yrs old daughter. Not only they did not put her in the right group (she is between intermediate and advanced but they put her in beginner group), the whole group had to wait for instructor in cold weather for at least 1.5 hrs after lunch, because one of the girl in their group had problem with her ski binding. I spoke with the head of the ski instructor and he refused to take any responsibility. What a shame and waste of time and money.

Tracy Schuster

Stayed for a week, traveled all over the area. So much to do and see. Great time

Peter Cushing

The upgrades this season have been a long time coming. The new Snowdon Lift is super fast and the shield helps protect from the elements. The underpasses that have been put in place for skier safety are really good. Killington does a great job!!!

Christian Kousidis

I LOVE THIS MOUNTAIN! My friends and I decided last minute to plan a trip to Killington for spring break and we all fell in love right away. The sheer scale and variety of the trails leaves nothing to be desired. It's a very technical mountain and I was able to get tons of practice going down steep, uneven trails, moreso than I have all season snowboarding in the White Mountains. The local area is also full of great spots to eat and just overall I was so enchanted by our visit. We plan to make a yearly tradition out of it!

Alese Garstick

I grew up skiing here and I always make it back 1 time a year to enjoy the biggest ski resort in Vermont. The best park about killington is the multiple peaks and faces of the mountain in one resort. If it is windy on one face of the mountain you can just go to the other side and stay warm while you ski. They have really improved the food these past few years. I haven't had anything I don't like. Can't wait for next winter.

kenneth kasten

My opinion, best mountain in southern. Vermont. When in doubt a out snow conditions go to Killington. They always have snow, they know how to make it, groom it. Lots of terrain for beginners, from snow shed to green trails from the top. Something for everyone.

Kevin Earle

Had a good 4 days skiing ⛷️ in the trees

Dmitry Loktev

Stunning, excellent ski conditions, modern facilities & well maintained ski resort. You will find tons of snow at the peak and nice restaurant. In my opinion it's best mid sized resort in Eastern America and worth to visit! P.S. to save money we bought lift tickets in advance

Joe Whirley

Tons of terrain. Tons of lifts. Great snow conditions. Jamaican Jerk restaurant has amazing food! Parking at the Skyship Gondola is just feet away from the lifts. 4 stars because lift tickets are very expensive. My favorite place to ski.

Mike Sullivan

I've flown up to Boston from South Carolina twice now to make the 3 hour drive (from Logan airport) to ski Killington. The conditions never disappoint. I'll be doing it again.

Dan Ryaafrasiab

we go almost every year and it never disappoints. great for family, singles, couples and friends.

Robert Briggs

Gondola ride up the mountain to view the Autumn leaves..picturesque...short "Cat walk" to the summit for greater than 180 degree view..assume!

Kevin Fulston

It’s a great mountain to board, or ski. Haha Killington has plenty of trails to choose from, so boredom and repetitive nature should be prolonged quite a bit.

Melanie Obrien

Beautiful Gondola ride and peak lodge!!

Marc Gargas

i love this place so much. Been going for 10 years and each year its better. Everyone is very friendly and are happy to help. Can't wait to go in February counting down the days!

Anjan Samanta

Awesome place for fall foliage view

Joe Colon

Don’t sleep on this place during the summer! Golfing, fishing, hiking and plenty more to do.

Matthew Nixon

All the staff waiting outside the lodges were very helpful and friendly, I had a little trouble getting my ticket and the lines were fairly long but it was a Saturday and still not over crowded. The mountain had good conditions throughout most of the day whith a good presence of ski patrol to help out anyone who needed it!

Pawel g

Best MTN around

Jinny Bien-Aime

Great place to visit with the family all seasons

Jonathan Silverman

Excellent!!! Big mountain, friendly staff, a total top skiing experience. I go there annually and will continue doing so. You should too.

Tim Pond

Great mountain. We had great conditions in late February. Very spread out and a little tricky to navigate at first, but runs for all levels.

Justin Kupetsky

Went snowboarding all day and had a blast until I broke my clavicle. Big props to the rescuers and first aid responders who quickly, safely and comfortably got me down the mountain l. Everyone in my group had a great time here.

E S

Good thing we didn't pay for the gondola ride in advance. They kept delaying the rides starting time in half hour increments. We had to finally leave the area after an hour of delays. No reason given to patrons, just a delay. We had to drive to Maine from Vermont, so no sticking around for us. Be advised, it costs 27.00 per adult to do the ride. Plus they are doing lots of construction.

kiryl marchuk

Best mountain in VT hands down. Second year here and I love it. There is a lot to explore. When I was there the snow was amaaazing... The lifts are fast and the lines go by fairly fast because of the size of the mountain. Tickets fairly expensive. But it’s worth it. There are a lot of places to relax and chill. I wish the mountain was open longer when day lights saving ended. Overall awesome experience.

Marc Nolin

I ran the Spartan beast here last weekend and I have to say it's an excellent venue for adventure across all seasons. Six peaks and plenty of resort options around the base provide for an excellent getaway. I will have to come back and skii here in the winter.

Charles Crandall

Good skiing but for the cost not feasible for your average income.

David M

The best skiing available in the North East. Just make sure to check the wind before you go for the day. Like almost any other mountain in the winter, the wind can cause them to close some of the mountain and many of the lifts. But if the conditions are good it can be a great ski vacation.

Cal Deezy

Killington is the beast of the east for a reason! Terrain is top notch you cant explore the whole mountain in a day! Park jumps could be better.
