Beautiful bridge and architecture. I wish the town could accommodate tourists visiting the bridge better. (i.e. a trail to walk on) rent kayaks from nearby Great River Outfitters for the best view :)

I've always loved this bridge. The second longest in the USA, but the longest of the pre-automobile covered bridges, the Cornish-Windsor covered bridge is a scenic feature of the area, crossing the Connecticut River and connecting it's namesake towns. There is parking on the Cornish, NH side, but be careful. This is an active bridge with a lot of traffic.

It was a treat to see this very long covered bridge. It was restored and in beautiful condition. We also walked around the town of Windsor, which is quaint with historic buildings. There are signs near the bridge indicating poison ivy and we did see some.

It's pretty incredible that of the limited number of Connecticut River crossings in Vermont; one is a 450 foot covered bridge. Really cool experience, enjoy this relic while still can.

What's the big deal?

We've been looking for a covered bridge to visit and photograph after several days around New England and stumbled upon this one during a recent trip to Windsor, VT. Not only was it picture-worthy, we also learned later that it is noteworthy for being the longest in the country. Definitely felt like hitting the jackpot. Drive by if you find yourself in the area. There is a small parking spot on the New Hampshire side of the bridge, along Route 12A, for people who wish to stop and take photos.

This must be the longest covered bridge I've crossed. It's just wide enough for two lanes so I probably wouldn't walk across. This area is nice to visit in all seasons.

For history buffs, vacationers, and leaf peepers, covered bridges are a thing. Seeing the world’s longest? On the beautiful Connecticut River? In September or October? A no brainer. Plenty of places on either side of the bridge to pull off and spend some time. A remarkable engineering accomplishment for its time and well worth yours to stop and see.

schlund366

The river was like a mirror and the bridge is fabulous! There is a small pull off for cars and an informative sign, but not the safest place to get around, as the road is busy. Not a good place for children

Meredith Arguelles

This infamous bridge that literally bridges NH and VT together looks even more special surrounded by the colors of summer!

Olivia Meek

This bridge is HUGE! It's two lanes to drive across. The Vermont side is bland and boring with no place to pull over and explore but the New Hampshire side has a huge parking area to the side, an informational plaque, and great views.

Gabriel Nelson

After making a nondescript turn East onto Bridge Street, stopping at the Farm-stand, you cross the covered Cornish-Windsor Bridge, a major crossing of the Connecticut River. The next bridge is 5 miles South or 12 miles North, to keep this bridge in good condition, remind your NH State Reps and Senators of this fact. Please drive slowly across this 152 year old Engineering Marvel, so it will last another 150 years.

What an AWE-INSPIRING PLACE !...If a traveler came to New England to seek the essence of our home, this should be on the TOP 10 LIST...We've driven the bridge several times on our way from Massachusetts to Vermont, pretty cool way to hit Mass,NH,Vermont PDQ...Routes 12/12a/5/89/91 ALL close by.Every season brings it's own LIFE,we suggest Autumn because in FULL DIS-CLOSURE,New England does Autumn BETTER than ANYWHERE else in the world ! Whatever you do...walk your horses or on the bridge or you'll get 5$Dollar fine...

I thought it was a really cool place located about 15 minutes off the main highway. Travel through cute little towns on the way. Long old covered bridge you can drive through. On NH side to the right is a little parking lot where you can pull over and take pictures. My kids weren't overly impressed (they were grumpy that day) but I was glad we stopped.

Historic Covered Bridge spanning the Connecticut River and joining Windsor Vermont to Cornish New Hampshire original "toll booth" house on Windsor Vermont side which used to collect a fine from all those who "Did not walk their horses across the bridge". Cornish, New Hampshire side has a pull off to the right for parking. Great photos can be taken from this side of the bridge any time of the year.

TheRunningDad

This is a pretty special place to visit. If you are in the area and love history, I would make an effort to stop here. Otherwise, I wouldn't drive out of my way to see this.
