Lovely winter place to hike.
Great hike, gets colder at the top because of the strong winds. Bring a vest. Burr!
Great views and beautiful trail
Amazing hike, beautiful forest and plenty of shade to the top!
Very cool hike. The beginning of the hike is not too difficult, but it does get pretty steep at some points. Dogs are welcome. Make sure to check at the map where the entrance is. It's pretty cool to see where everyone hiking that day is from.
Definitely an experience! Very cloudy and cold at the summit, unfortunately. Hike up was moderate; down was easier. Trail was wet and slippery. So much fun, though!!
My favorite mountain anywhere! Gorgeous!
Wow, was this place amazing. This is a shorter but challenging hike. The views at the top are amazing as well!
The trails are incredibly well-maintained, and are very nice to walk on. You definitely feel safe and study while walking on the constructed stone steps or a bridge. The views are great if you pick your day right. It will be crowded then too. The trail that everyone goes on has no views until the top but is very easy. The Forest City trail goes into the Long Trail which then goes to the top. It's much harder but it's in much cooler woods with amazing views.
So worth the view. Beautiful. Go on a clear day!
Amaizing views
Tough hike but it was so worth it! The view is amazing, and the hike is beautiful
Beautiful trails, beautiful view.
The location is very beautiful and greatly maintained trails, but the roads and parking lots and traffic managment is a true danger. Please keep safe everyone. But the trails and views are very great! And know the road is very long, on the north side, and that there is NO SERVICE there. There is also two roads that are marked as camel's hump road.
Best views in Vermont. Bring water and snacks. I have seen kids hike it but it is a long hike for them. There is a small entrance fee ($3). Be aware of weather - it is very exposed. Winter comes about a month early and stays a month late on the mountaintop
Absoloutely beautiful view. Took about 2 hours to get up, but it's worth it!
This is an awesome mountain with a 360 degree view. A little strenuous, but not to bad. Definitely doable for young and old alike. Very pretty in the fall, but super busy.
Beautiful views and a well graded trail with minimal roots. Don't get misled by the ADA designation; this trail is NOT flat! There are a few small climbs. Lots of benches for rest though!
Great hike and great 360 degrees view of Vermont
Gorgeous views. Popular spot.
Awesome hike, beautiful views from the summit
Great views, a nice hike. Can be a bit wet on the rocks and roots. Watch your step!
Camels Hump is an iconic VT hike, right there with Mansfield. Like Mansfield, the views on Camels Hump are what make it special, both from the top and during the hike while walking through the beautful birch forest. A perk to Camels Hump over Mansfield is that because there are so many ways to get to the top, I found the trail to be pretty quiet and crowd free. The top isn't as peaceful but there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the view. I started the hike from the Duxbury lot and took the Monroe Trl to Dean Trl to Long Trl to the top. Returned via the Alpine Trl to the Monroe Trl. I thought that loop was fairly strenuous, from the moment I left the parking lot you were immediatly hiking up the mountain. Additionally, on the Long Trail there were some pretty exciting rock scrables. If I wanted an easier hike I would stick to just the Monroe Trl.
Great moutain to hike. Be sure to hike a part of long trail.
Amazing view!
Beautiful hike with great views at the summit
Loved the hike! Make sure to spray bug repellant before you go or the gnats will drive you crazy for about 1.5 miles. Took us 5 hrs to do 8.25 miles (rest points due to birding and bloody heels from improper fitting hiking boots). We took Monroe->Alpine->Summit->Long Trail->Alpine->Monroe. I would rate Monroe as moderate but the Long Trail does increase the difficulty a little bit as its sheer rock you climb up. The summit is a beautiful 360 view and quite worth the climb. Just step ONLY on the ROCKS. The grass is fragile alpine habitat and if you forget someone will chastise you ;)
Great easy hiking to the top of Camels hump
Can be very windy at the top and dramatically colder. Took us 4 hours round trip with a 30 minute lunch break at the top. You have great views in all directions! You can see the Adirondacks, the Presidential Peaks, the Mad River Valley and Bolton Valley. One of the best summits in the state!
Great hike, well marked even in the snow
Great panoramic view of the Green Mountains. Nice leisurely 3.1 mile hike, never too steep.
Accessed via Burrows Trail. Beautiful panoramic view once you get to the Alpine section. Did this late Fall when some snow/ice was sticking. Not an easy hike at that time, but the payoff getting to the peak was well worth the challenge.
What a nice hike we done there! Just enough challenge to be fun. 3h30 Hike using the Monroe Trail.
Super nice one day hiking trail. Rocky south side, worth to do it both ways. The loop is gorgeous!
The view from the top is amazing. Definitely not a “quick intermediate hike” as my friend sold it to us, but if I could do it, any out of shape person can!
Beautiful place
One of my favourite places to go hiking. I try and go at least twice a year. It is a great workout and the view is breathtaking!
Amazing hike with breathtaking views
I love to hike Camels Hump. The trails are well kept up and nicely maintained. But, the bathrooms at the Burrows Trail Head in Huntington need to be checked and cleaned regularly because they were horrendous.
Camels Hump is a no joke hike, but the views are spectacular. Worth the time and the effort to get to the top.
Beautiful hiking and great views. Not as busy as the Mansfield area.
Hard hike but the views are worth it.
We hiked the Duxbury Window Trail a few weeks ago and the views were amazing! I wouldn't describe this as a beginners trail though, which some sites do. Granted it was mud season and there was still snow on the mountain, it was a difficult hike but well worth it.
Trails were well marked, area was clean, few other hikers
No parking lot or lift at the top! Best mountain to hike in the state, either Burrows trail (Huntington) or Monroe (Waterbury).
The view from the top is worth every ounce of sweat and energy.
Beautiful place, few people. Perfect
Great hike, straight up but not too long
Beautiful! Nice trail for ADA
I love to see for miles
Awesome view! Nice hike.
Fantastic views and challenges along the Long Trail
If you're looking for a moderate hike or something a bit harder, Camels Hump has it all. The views are absolutely amazing. The trails are well marked and the feeling of accomplishment at the end will lead you to want to do it again next time! I highly recommend giving yourself at least half a day to be able to enjoy the full experience!
Really nice hike
Great hiking trail for a sunrise hike.
Hikes this mountain years ago and it was great fun. Recently just drive into the park. Find the aircraft wreckage just below the peak. Very cool.
Great place
Good trails easy hike
Awesome hike
Nice challenging hike! Great for the adventurous family!
I hiked the Monroe Trail which is roughly a seven mile hike. It's relatively easy compared to most 4000 footers. The views are excellent at the summit. Depending on the weather you should get a great view of Mansfield, NY and potentially Canada. I highly recommend you hike Camel's Hump.
Great hike and great views. Can see most of Vermont from the top. Expect 2.5-3 hours hike in each direction.
Excellent hike
Fun
Great place for a hike
Beautiful
Stunning
Had it to myself due to inclement weather! Missed out on the clear days views, but experienced blizzard conditions up top on the summit.
Great view. Hike starts off mellow then picks up steepness. Around 2.4mi hike on the short trail.
Need to repair - reopen the north suspension bridge so snowmobiles can cross the river & travel to stowe.
Great hike, trails are easy up the south side...views for miles up at the top
Amazing views at the top of the mountain. We got to the head of the trail at 8AM and had no issues parking. When we left around noon the small lot was maxed out.
Perfect place for day hike
Great journeys !
Great solitude and nice walk
Bring proper footwear in the winter. It gets super icy. My mate and I did this in sneakers and I in work boots. 2.5 hours up and 1.75 hours down. Super sketchy conditions.
It's a difficult climb, but we'll worth the amazing 360 view...
Nice walking trails
Very nice area. Nice to climb mountain.
Go up the Long trail side, challenging hike with sweet views.
Beautiful view. Twisties on the road up and down.
Stunning views
Beautiful experience
Easy climb up in a car, but saw lots of people hiking and biking up also. Take a sticker with you to post on the gaurd rail.
Literally the most beautiful place I've ever been.
Make sure you're prepared for the trail you choose before you set out, but it's worth it! It took us about 4 hours up Monroe Trail and Alpine Trail past the plane wreckage to the summit (at a casual pace) then 2 hours back down. Camel's Hump is Vermont's highest undeveloped peak, so don't expect restrooms or water fountains.
My favourite hike in Vermont - absolutely beautiful views from the summit. However- we went early June and it was unbearably buggy (due to the wet spring). Be warned and have loads of bug spray/ probably bug nets.
Camel's hump is a tough hike but the summit is definitely worth the effort!
Great views on top! Usually busy so get there early.
Great hike! Took us 4.5 hours for the look. Would recommend to go the forest trail path up. It has some difficult bits but almost anyone can make it. Bring a windjacket for the top.
Trails can be challenging but are well marked and well maintained with so much traffic. In the busy summer and leaf peeping seasons, get to the trailheads early for parking. Remember to leave your valuables at home folks! Even with so much traffic in parking lots, there are still break-ins for easy to steal stuff.
This place is beautiful, I'll give it that. When I looked online, the Monroe trail was of moderate difficulty. We found that to be wrong. After walking for a while and thinking we must be at least halfway through the 3.8 mile hike, we came to a marker saying we'd walked a whopping 1.8. discouraged but hopeful, we continued. After climbing rock faces and tromping through streams and desperately asking people on their way back down how far and everyone telling us not that far and the view is worth it, we continued. Close to tears, I thought for sure we would turn a bend and see the summit. Alas, instead we came across a marker that said we still had an ENTIRE MILE TO GO. Out loud we screamed, a nightmare. We sat, defeated. And back down the mountain we trudged. Tl:dr: this mountain is not for the faint of heart. If you're not physically fit , there is a shorter path around the other side. Do your research.
Cant go wrong with time in the wilderness. If camel's hump is socked in on top take the Alpine trail, there are stunning views at a lower elevation.
Well maintained trails and views incredible. Tough climb, but worth the effort.
Nearby waterfalls in Honey Hollow are very scenic. Did not get to hike to Camels Hump because the most direct trail on the west side was closed due to bridge maintenance. The east side trail is a mile farther (3.1 one way)
Lovely area!!! We stayed in an adorable cabin rental up in the mountain for 3 weeks while here for work in the beginning of Dec, it was so pretty… lots of snow, the view is amazing and the area very peaceful. Hoping to come back and visit in the summer months as I'm sure it's breath taking. The small waterfall on the road before the state park looks like an awesome place to visit and splash around in durning the summer!!
Great panoramic summit!
Great hike, beautiful thru the woods. Lots of water& greenery up the mountain. Up& down took us an hour& a half. The views from the top were just amazing. If your looking for a great hike. This is good.
Toilets at the trail head and awesome views from the summit. Not an easy hike. That's 2.4 miles uphill walking uneven surfaces and and 2.4 miles down again.
Great view at the top.
Great hiking trail... Definitely worth it when you reach the summit. Went during memorial day weekend and the conditions were great. A little muddy but perfect. Went up the burrow trail to the summit and straight back down.
Camel's Hump is one of my favorite hiking/snowshoeing places in the winter. The views from the summit are great on a clear winter day. I usually go up from the Duxbury side starting on the Monroe trail and connecting to the Long Trail at Wind Gap.
Progressively more difficult. A bit of scrambling near the peak. Worth the effort.
Trail is steep and unforgiving; but, absolutely worth the effort!
This is my favorite mountain to hike. Been hiking these trails all my life. It's always so beautiful.
The summit is well worth the effort. Breathtaking!
A must do +4000 ft hike! Incomparable views, alpine zone experience, interesting terrain with some nice scrambling. And NO SKI HILL! One of Vermont's undeveloped gems.
Who doesn't love nature!? We also saw a deer in a field on the way!
Awesome hike!
Hiked the Burrows Trail from the parking lot to the summit. It was a consistent grade, beginning with light forest and transitioning to rockier ground. Cool and windy at the summit, despite the hot day.
Great hike, amazing view from the top. Would love to come back.
Fantastic view from the top! Long Trail is pretty rough...
Very hard trail for my level
Great place to ski
This place was absolutely magical. The higher up you guy the more magical it becomes
Good place to hike. About an hour and a half at a quick pace up the Burrows Trail. Parking is limited.
Fantastic hiking!
Nice but crowded on weekend
On a beautiful day the views are tremendous from the Hump. Many other trails throughout the large park which are a little easier, too.
Beautiful 360 degrees views. The last 25% of the hike is the hardest but well worth it!!!
Good family friendly hiking with awesome views at the top.
The frozen water fall is right off RT. 100. A short walk to the falls and a great photo op
Any time we're in the mountains is the right time!
Great home. Not too long or steep. Good for families and dogs too.
Great hiking and biking.
Fabulous view. Breathtaking ❤️ time out.
Did a 23 day, 273 mile thru-hike on the Long Trail in VT from MA to Canada. Such beauty and friendly people! Life changing experience!
Amazing hike, probably the best I've been on in all of Vermont
Beautiful hike through the woods with great views opening up on the top
Beautiful. Clearly marked, challenging trails. Interesting history.
What a great 360 view once you're at the peak! And the plane wreck, although not much of it remains was worth seeing and remembering the lives lost
First hike in Vermont and it was totally worth it! Would go again with a 360 degree view to Lake Champlain to the west and the white mountains to the east. Also only 2.3 miles up but it was very steep! Totally worth the payoff tho. Would recommend avoiding a weekend hike due to an overpopulated trail.
Great hike
Amazing moderate hike. Takes just about 3 - 3.5 hours to get up and down
The views from the top of camels hump are amazing. We took the Monroe trail and it's quite a bit longer than depicted. It is an aggressive hike with a big pay off at the top.
Well maintained and great trails. Kid and dog friendly
Great place to go and hike beautiful views from the top!!! Everyone should go at least once
This is one of my favorite places in the world.
So difficult to climb by the Monroe trail... There's a lot of snow still (may/2018)
Great day hike in VT.
Easy hike, great view from the summit!
Prefer the West side climb up Borrow's but always a fun hike.
One of Vermonts best.
A good day hike, been up this mountain many times
Some.of the best hiking in Vermont with a lot of challenges
Beautiful
Awesome mountain, 360 degree views, you can see anything from Champlain to the whites
Steep, rough trail (Monroe) from the east side but well worth the effort
