Plan to spend at least 2 hours. Wonderful insight into the works of both Grandma Moses and a host of Vermont artists. Impecably run by a great team of knowledgeable staff.

Charming local art museum. Grandma Moses's paintings and historical material put it on the map. Other parts of the collection have a somewhat funky local character. Worth an hour or so if you are in the area to visit Mass MOCA, the Clark, or other nearby highlights.

A historical gem!

Lots of good information. Good for kids too.

Space A1DS

Small pool of content that is mostly boring, much like Bennington itself. Areas of interest include: creepy Abe statue out front, antique vehicle inside, local art in the temp rooms, aristocratic portraits upstairs.

Mindybeth Pike

Nice interactive things for kids to do.

Andrea Park

Grandma Moses collection as well as galleries with furniture, pottery, and Rockwell Kent paintings. Easy walk from downtown Bennington.

As a small museum, this one stands out. The innovative artistry that is a part of this area was very present in this space.

Lucy Goupil

This is a really nice museum. It has outside walking paths. The exhibits were well set up. Some high lights were Grandma Moses school house and artwork, a gorgeous car made in Vermont, and Vermont pottery. We got there later in the day and had to rush the end. It would probably take 2-3 hours to enjoy it all at a leisurely pace.

Not really much to see. Nice view from the top of the tower, but that's about it.

The museum is quite nice. I loved the pictures of grandma Moses, her style is absolutely lovely. Some other pictures and stuff were funny, because they are weird. I like the museum, but I think it's expensive for the amount of art. But I guess it's necessary.

(Translated by Google) Interesting museum with changing collection. Although it presents itself with the largest public collection of works of art by Grandma Moses, it is relatively relative with about 25 paintings in one modest room. (Original) Interessant museum met wisselende collectie. Hoewel het zichzelf presenteert met de grootste openbare verzameling kunstwerken van Grandma Moses, is dat met zo'n 25 schilderijen in één bescheiden zaal maar betrekkelijk.

Every local Historic Museum should follow this as the BEST example of how to show off your collections. Perfectly set up! Grandma Moses exhibit is the best, so is the Revolutionary War History exhibit. GO!!!

It had a children's play room with things that kids could touch and play with. This was great so we could take turns exploring the museum.

Heather O'brien

Karen Snow

One of the best museums. It offers a great exhibit of revolutionary war guns and extensive collection of Grandma Moses paintings as well as other art. The children's museum gives children a chance to play with antique toys, sit at a table with wooden plates, and run a child sized general store.

Edward Mainzer

Old-style Museum without a lot of modern muli-media displays, but with many rooms with standing and temporary exhibitions related to local art and history. The Museum is most famous for it's holdings of folk paintings by "Grandma Moses," but in addition to art and furniture by others includes displays ranging from the Battle of Bennington to historic toys, pottery and paintings not by Grandma Moses! There's also a gift shop and facilities, but no food service.

David Rhoads

The Bennington Museum is an amazing little gem in southern Vermont, specializing in art & artifacts of the state. Our first encounter was in 2016 when the museum mounted an exhibit of Milton Avery's early paintings of Vermont landscapes produced from his experiences there from 1935-43. Avery had an uncanny ability to deconstruct images to a bare minimum of information necessary to perceive the subject. While predating his Color Field years, the paintings still employed a fascinating range of colors, quite provocative (the catalog is still available). The museum's presentation was superb. This year we were treated to a tour of paintings by Anna Mary Robertson "Grandma" Moses. Curator Jamie Franklin is incredibly insightful in his ability to convey the immense talent of this remarkable American artist (catalog also available). All art lovers need to put this place on their list!

First visit. Very few other patrons. I enjoyed the visit. Thete was a nice piano performance going on. I particularly liked the exhibits on the Bennington Battle and Grandma Moses. Early typewriters were also quite interesting as was medical and coming instruments. A typical gift shop was open. Parking was easy and near. It was a pleasant comfortable atmosphere.

If you like mother Jones, it's your kind of spot. Worth a trip for me from Albany NY

Joe Sweeney

A very nice museum and a friendly staff. The only disturbing thing was the display by the front entrance. The artist combined three of his works into one display. While I understand his intention, it's disturbing none-the-less. You can Google "Lincoln Statue Bennington Museum" for more detail.

Jolene Macko

This is a great place to go so very nice for all to see

Kathleen Murphy

Very interesting museum. Wonderful collection of Grandma Moses art, but I really love her great grandson's art. His name is Will Moses. They also have an interesting collection of housewares, weapons, etc. from what I believe is the Civil War era.

Chris Baldwin

Grandma Moses features are excellent.

Susan G. Altoft

What a comprehensive delight. Wonderful history inside and out. Delightful special showings and lectures. Involvements for local folks and schools. Great old, and many local collections. And, a small shop that I go to look for special gifts. A hidden wonder worthy of keeping on your check what's up treat.

Chuck Strimpler

Nice museum and lots of Grandma Mosses art. Nothing out of the ordinary. 2nd floor is lots of old stuff and paintings.

Claudio Mendoza

Besides beautiful green hills and many other things, the town of Bennington, Vermont, is famous for the battle of 1777, stoneware pottery, and Granma Moses. The Museum gives you cultural information about these and several other related topics for you to walk out almost an expert. So a visit to this historic temple is recommended in your itinerary of this rural tristate shire of New England.

Paul Ilmer

Eclectic collection of local and national historic and modern interest. Save a good hour or two. Store has mementos as well as some original craft art works. Nice view from front entrance.

Sam Urbôn

If you're into landscape paintings by grandma Moses you'll love it. Some parts of the museum were dull and dry but others make this a definitely worthwhile and varied museum.

John R Weinhold Jr

Very nice museum emphasizing the art and history of the region. A very short distance from the Bennington Monument. Reduced cost to visit one after seeing the other. Wonderful time! Nice Grandma Moses painting exhibit.

Perfect size museum, good variety. Some local, New England history and a wonderful display of Grandma Moses paintings. Very worthwhile. Easy access.

Liam Tahaney

I must be honest, before this museum I hadn't heard of or cared to have heard of Bennington. Wow was I surprised. We started our day here, and then went into town and both were great. The museum has tons of facinating local history and artifacts, and it really teaches proudly the town's history, not just the area. It was really wonderful to see such great local history, and as someone who is super into history, it was refreshing to find a museum that wasn't so watered down it was boring. We managed to spend over an hour here. Great place.

Stephen G

Wow, wow, wow. What a great museum. The coverage of first Americans is second to only the Indian museum in Washington DC. And that is saying something. Grandma Moses, local history and folksrt. This place has it all. Should be in everyone's list for super local museums.

james peebles

Came to shop for 1776 flags, bought one for myself and one for a gift, super staff!!!

Michael & Colleen Doherty

Very interesting and we'll worth it.

Micah Manary

Great small area for kids, and good collection of historical as well

Katee Murphy

Museum staff was helpful and friendly. The Grandma Moses exhibit was fun, light-hearted and the kids loved that the school house was interactive. It was so thoughtful for the museum to have an exhibit were kids are able to touch and play similar to the children in Moses's era. We also enjoyed the pavilion for an outdoor picnic and explored the wildflower walk. A very enjoyable visit! Thank you

Michael Muller

Milton Avery exhibit was lovely, & the curstors' information was insightful. & the staff were kind.
