I absolutely loved this spot. Very scenic and great for photos. But what really annoyed me was other people who stayed in the middle of the road for longer than they should have. What i really wanted to say to them, "What's the hold up? Take your pic and get off the road already! My goodness."
Been to this spot 3 times now and it just never gets old. Love Monument Valley!
Its a quick stop on the way between monument valley and Utah and would be a better click before evenin because the sun sets towards monument valley. You better have a newer phone or an slr to capture the essence of this point.
Get a quick snap on the way.
20 mins east of monument valley. It is a worthy place to look at. The view is so good. If u visit monument valley this is a place u can include in ur trip. Close to Mexican Hat.
If you are driving to Monument Valley, this place is very nice to stop by. You can go be careful of the cars passing by. After dodging so many cars, we got to take some good pictures. Highly recommend this place.
Beautiful country. Breathtaking. Neat seeing the Forrest Gump sign. We took pictures. The monuments are absolutely beautiful.
Great place for views and photos. Watch out, people jump into the road.
Famous spot. Took lot of great shots.
Beautiful view. There's another scenic view of the monument valley before you reach the Gump point that gives you a good backdrop if the Gump point is too crowded.
Who doesn't love having their picture taken here. I was totally surprised that there really was such little traffic that you can stand in the middle of the road and take many pictures. Really cool.
Way more crowded than you see in pictures. Lots of people stop here to take pictures but it is fun. Everyone screams when a car is coming and once is passes they go out to take pictures. The view is truly beautiful!
Nice view but I don’t know if it will worth to go that much way to reach that point.
Don't forget the Forest Gump sign! Awesome view! Also this is a sunrise lighting situation.
One of the most stop destinations. Very scenic drive. If you are traveling to LA from Moab/Utah choose monument valley route and you wouldn't regret
Nice but better going to here before noon. Otherwise you will place against sun which is hard to take a picture
The whole reason we took a road trip was to see this!
Hopefully the state of Utah will enact a safer speed limit. 98% of the traffic slows down for the pictures being taken. Gorgeous view
Sun set time is beautiful! Be careful when you take pic on 65miles/hour high way!
Had no idea this excited until my buddies told while we were riding through. Loved the movie and was a great photo op.
This is place you can take pictures in the middle of street. Very populair
I highly recommend stopping here to take a photo but please do be careful. Everyone wants to take a photo standing in the middle of this highway with the monuments in the background. Please watch for traffic and get out of the way of cars when they come close. Many people who drive through this area are very agitated by the crowds of tourists blocking the road and not moving to let them by. Please be respectful of the traffic. If you want the best lighting, visit during sunrise or sunset. Sunrise will lite the monuments and give you lots of color where as sunset the sun will be in your eyes and your photo which can be good for a silhouette shot.
Epic view. Well worth the trip.
Great spot. Great views. Took many pix there. Easy to spot, just look for other people gathered to take pix.
Monument Valley one of my most favorite places ever.
Fun place to go and take pictures. Amazing views of monument valley
Beautiful view... With traffic traversing the road at nearly 80mph..
This is a great place to pull over for a gorgeous distant photo of Monument Valley. Plus, this is an iconic spot because of Forrest Gump, so it’s a fun photo op for your traveling crew. There are two pull-offs here, one on each side, and they were both crowded while I was visiting.
Great place to watch tourists try to get run over
So fun to go there and take photos. Please remember if you go some basic etiquette: This isn't just for you; take some quick pic and allow others in. Park uphill of the spot. People don't want your 2018 Honda Accord in their photo. Dodgeball rules; call out 'car' and clear the space for vehicles trying to pass. Enjoy it.
Be careful! This is a somewhat busy highway and those wanting to take pictures of the famous site will need to be wary of the speeding vehicles in both directions. Try to plan for pictures to occur near sun down as the background of the sunset on the mountains really puts you back in the movie!
In my opinon one of the best places to take a great shot of Monument Valley. If you stand in the middle of the road please be careful and watch for passing cars.
Met a Navajo Tribe member from the Bitterwater Tribe who sold authentic hand made jewlery...he ended up taking us on a no-man's-land tour to see a traditional Hogan Indian home...awesome!!
The most beautiful place ever. Even in the middle of the summer the place wasn't crowded and we were able to take many wonderful pictures. You are pinching yourself as you stand in the middle of the most iconic scenery seen in hundreds of movies...truly magnificent. It is easy to get there, and it is absolutely worth it.
I am exciting to see this picture again!
If you've seen forest gump, stop here to take pictures. There will be stands of Navajo jewelry for sale in the area as well.
You won't miss it if you are traveling in between Monument Valley and Arches National Park. So might as well take a short break and mesmerize into the movie scene where Forrest decided to turn around and go home. I thought it would be hard to take photos with no other people in front of you. Turned out people were thoughtful and considerate.
Great place and if you’ve seen the movie this place gives a great touch to your road trip.
Not really the best view, and far too many immature idiots standing in the middle of the road taking selfies.
If you're a movie fan this is the place to go.. there's nothing really there other than the view so make sure to bring if you want some snacks or drinks. There are some great photo ops around there and you'll see a lot of people just laying on the road making poses Be careful as you drive by I think without going into monument valley this is one of the best spots to look at the view and The monuments
There were quite a lot of people being very dangerous. While it was beautiful, I didn't even get my photo because of the foreign tour group hogging the place up and overstaying their stay.
Run Forrest run. Best movie, best place from movie.
Fantastic place and iconic view, some tourists need to be careful when stood in the road to get the picture. But nothing can take away from the natural beauty of the view.
Yes I got that iconic shot!
Amazing beautiful sunset, humbling scenery took some pictures to treasure forever! Easy to find at mile marker 13.
If you've seen the movie you'll remember this view. Lots more to see. Keep driving.
You need to stop here and admire the rock formations on monument valley great scenery just be careful with the traffic
hard to see it from road but some 15 mile from monument valley, amazing views on. alley. small wooden sign that is hard to see.
Unless you're a landscape/nature photographer, I wouldn't recommend driving all the way out just to see Monument Valley. But if you happen to be passing through, be sure to stop at Forrest Gump Point and grab some amazing pictures! We stopped on our way back to Phoenix in early January after heavy snowfall - the view was incredible.
Like a movie! Great view!
Have you ever seen a Movie called Forrest Gump? And are you on a trip to the US West or the Grand Circle? Then you must come here. Trust me. It's just a road. When I see this way, the scene of the film Forest Gump comes to mind. Be careful to take pictures because cars can often run at a fast pace.
Yes the view is spectacular (as it also is for miles either side of this spot), but the amount of stupidity displayed by people in the middle of a VERY busy road was shocking. We talked to a local Navajo vendor, he said he sees near misses multiple times every day and occasionally a few hits! Watch out for cars if you really must stand in the middle of the road! During our five minutes on the side of the road, I saw at least three groups get honked at as they were going to play chicken with cars in exchange for a picture of themselves in the middle of the road! Overall a beautiful area. Take time to talk to the local vendors, they are a wealth of information and very friendly!
Sooooo cool! One of my favorite spots. And Must for Forrest Gump lovers, but a great point with great photogenic view
What a Nice Surprise! Fun to see
Nice place. Problem is too many people standing in middle of road getting pictures. Too many cars going to fast, just a matter of time. Foreign Nationals are the worst they refuse to get out of the road, saw two near misses in 10 minutes
Being a Tom Hanks fan and absolutely love Forrest Gump this was a must see for me. The only disappointment was that it was raining when we were there.
Great place for photos. Easy to spot and ample space to pull over to get some shots. Just be careful of the traffic if taking shots on the road.
You just gotta love this view. Btw. don’t go into the park, entrance is $20 and is really boring as you stand close to the “monuments” and don’t see anything. Hiking is prohibited in summer because of the high temperature. You can only drive there whis is... weird.
So much fun. Came home and watched the movie.
It was amazing! Sat in the middle of the road and everything! Family friendly-except for the road!
It's totally dangerous, but a lot of fun trying to get a great shot! Don't get hit by a car!
This is probably one of the most scenic spots of road in the country! It really is an incredible view to turn around look back to see those beautiful red rocks in the distance. It is always something to be in a spot you have seen in the movie but to be there makes you truly appreciate why they picked it.
Great place to get that popular shot of the long road leading to Monument Valley. If you're in the area you'll definitely wanna stop here for a few pics. There were some Cherokee selling fried bread ($5) on a roadside stand here as well. Tasty and I love to help them out.
Nice view from the iconic movie
Great place to get photos with the beautiful Monument Valley in the background! A note about safety - if you opt to take pictures on the road, be sure to watch for traffic coming from both ways (vehicles travel 50-70 mph through this section). Some patience may be required in order to get a good shot, especially when there are a lot of visitors taking pictures. But all in all, worth the wait!
It's a nice spot, I've not seen the movie though. (August 11, 2019)
Iconic view of Monument Valley.
The view is spectacular. The 30 dolts you'll find sitting in the middle of the road can become tiresome though.
Neat spot, even if it wasn't a movie related location, the pictures you can get here are awesome. There were folks here (non vendors), who were happy to snap my picture and vice versa. I arrived at sundown, and it was great. Gas up before you head out though, that should be a standard rule anywhere out there. (There is a station down the road a little bit along with a cool old bridge and a lodge near the actual Mexican Hat rock, though).
Get there super early if you want to get amazing pictures without too many cars or people in the photos. It's worth the drive and is truly awe inspiring.
The spot is soooooooo amazing! The rocks, the straight road - everything is breathtaking! Go there, take your photo! But THE HECK be aware of the cars and busses on the road! We’ve seen people there don’t taking care and doin whatever it takes for the photo, that the trucks and angry locals in they’re re cars driving so damn dangerous to the people...that IS dangerous! So watch out!
A good point for viewing and photographing. This place showed in many American movie, this road is exactly what you think the American road should be like.
Amazig view! Many people are making pictures on the street so you have to whatch out for them and mabe wait.
Mile 13. Unless, it's cloudy, go in the morning, you will get a better view. In the afternoon, the sun is behind the mountain so you will get the silhouette view. It's 45mi/hr so be careful for cars coming from Moab.
A great place for pictures. Make sure to time your visit for sunrise and early morning as the sun lights up the mountains beautifully and your pictures will prove it. Pull over at the top of the hill with everyone else and be polite as other travellers pass by. You want your picture center stage with the mountains highlighted in the background! Go for it!
Make this stop. Be sure to look for the sign and get that pic too! Gorgeous view!
If you’re a fan of the movie, then you must visit this spot. Even if you’re not a fan of Forrest Gump, standing here is standing in the presence of the quintessential American West. Well worth the drive.
"I'm pretty tired, I think I'll go home now."
Momuments, Gods country. A good place to buy jewelry. Make sure while traveling out the you have plenty of batteries. Your gonna need them.
Cool place to visit after seeing the movie
The view here makes it worth taking a stop at if you're close by!
Get there early to get the best light and don't be afraid to use a longer focal length.
If you want to photograph yourself go in the morning as sun sets at the point so you wont b able to get the best pictures
Neat place to see. We came in from the south and would have missed it if it weren't for the cars and people at this spot. Who would've though it would have been such a popular spot, great experience.
The iconic location from the famous scene of Forest Gump... This place is often crowded and it makes sense to stop behind all the people when ascending the slope to get the best shot... One more thing ro consider would be the time of the day... If you reach around sunset, then you lose the valley in the sun shade in your photos...
It was a cool stop, but the idiots in the road were a bit much. Cars have the right of way, and remember that you can't instagram if you're dead. Also you are a very long way from civilization, so if you do get hurt, plan accordingly.
A little further away from the view of Monument Valley. We were driving out of MV and saw this spot on Google Maps so decided to stop here to get a few pictures. But along the way to this spot, there're other scenic photo point too that you can pull your car over at the side to get a closer shot of MV
Honestly, this is kind of a dangerous spot, because everybody wants to get the Forrest Gump picture from the middle of the highway. When Hollywood does it, they close the road. When people do it now, they hope that cars won't come for the next 45 seconds. Beautiful from the side of the road. Be careful, even if you are just driving through.
Cool! Do not forget hit the point of Forest Gump.
Great service and created great memories
People laying on the street for pics, they must have had some good pics but dangerous for drivers. Beautiful scenery not the best pic we took but too many people taking up the streak not to mention speedy vehicles. Be careful out there.
It was an amazing experience to be in that spot!
Iconic. The pics come splendid. Must visit
The pictures we took here were awesome. If you go, BE CAREFUL. Other drivers don't slow down, even with multiple pedestrians standing next to the road. Stand well back from the road, and leave the road while oncoming cars are still a long ways off. Don't be in a hurry. Safety is worth the patience.
Forest Gump ended his cross country run at this point.
A must see, especially for bikers! Beautiful scenery, get there early morning for best light. Watch the cagers!
Hopefully it is a clear day, the views are great. Some people will just jump in front of you trying to get "their" perfect shot. Be careful of cars driving through.
Very pretty to just stop and take it in all around you
