We have the opinions of real people who use the services and products of Dead Horse Point State Park (Tourist Attraction) in the state of Utah.
To this day the firm has a rating of 4.8 stars over 5 and this rating has been based on 2480 reviews.
As you can read, its rating is virtually the best one, and it's founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the valuation is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to leave their score when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put feddbacks when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Tourist Attraction is included in the category of State park.
Stunning! Visit this park. Pricey to get in, but wow the views are stunning. Great MTB and hiking trails, or easy drive to the sights if you are so inclined. Pet friendly and the dog loved it.
What a beautiful place! Everything was clean and well-kept, and the people in the gift shop were very knowledgeable about the area and very helpful.
A must stop destination when you’re visiting the area, I’ve been here several times and it doesn’t get old! Probably one of the best views of canyonlands! Take the time to go here and be in awe! The pictures don’t do it full justice and being in person it’s so large that it kind of feels surreal. There’s areas to eat and enjoy while you’re there. Don’t pass this place up
Gorgeous place to watch the sunset in the evening, or mountain bike/hike during the day! Never as crowded as other national parks nearby.
Nice park with fun beginner and kid mountain biking trails, not terribly busy and beautiful scenery. Trails are groomed and clearly marked. Ran into a first aid rider cruising up and down the trail to check in people which is awesome. Staff at visitor center was friendly and knowledgeable. I would imagine parking can become an issue since we visited in March and had a little trouble finding parking at the dead horse point overlook.
Breathtaking views. Literally leaves you with no words to describe what you are seeing. Just stand and stare and marvel.
Gorgeous views and great walks! Just make sure to bring a lot of water!!
I’m sure the views are beautiful but due to an incredibly rude encounter with the state park entrance attendant, we decided to turn around and leave before getting the chance. The nearby Canyonlands National Park staff was far more friendly and helpful.
Came on a Saturday. Only one person at the entry. Took way too long to get through the entry. 20 minutes or more inching up. Enjoyed the park but won't be back.
Visited years ago & couldn't wait to come back! Beautiful here, scenery is unbelievable& campground is immaculate. Love it!!
The best state park with killer views of Canyonlands National Park and fun mountain biking trails.
Stunning views! The evening atmosphere in particular is breathtaking. Golden light, red stones, green canyon floor. Unforgettable!
Great easy ride. Just a few tougher obstacles, but mainly an easy trail. Totally worth the ride for the scenery! Exposed, so pack sun screen and water.
The views are fantastic. Even more so than canyonlands (although there are fewer lookout points, they each have spectacular views.
Incredible views of the Colorado River. Entrance fee was $20 but worth it!
This place was pretty and serene. I enjoyed it because I got to camp here. The only downside is that its really hot and there's little to no shade space. Otherwise, its Moab! Go on an adventure!
Really beautiful park! Wouldn't have visited if my Aribnb host hadn't suggested it. But I'm so glad I did! Definitely go check out this park when/if you get a chance.
Beautiful views, great for pictures, and only $4/person. It used to be $2, so it's a bit of a jump and not exactly cheap if you have a few kids, but there's a decent little visitor center and nice roads out to the view point with restrooms and picnic tables with shade pavilions. A couple campgrounds are in the area before the visitor center, but I've never camped there.
Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Also great for star gazing.
Absolutely beautiful area. We didn't want to pay the fee, which was a bit pricey for a state park in my opinion, so didn't get to go to the furthest point. Drive took a bit longer due to construction on the main drive into the visitor center.
Such a beautiful place too take the family or too just go check out. Not just is this place for the views on views you can bring your bike and follow the trails. Went here with my camera too mess around with my family and is just absolutely beautiful. Here are some of the photos I've taken.
Deadhorse State Park also has very beautiful and amazing overlooks and is also beautiful and amazing. I could stay here for a week snd prob not see or do everything this place has to offer. It is so hugh beautiful and amazing to see. Really loved this place. If my review helps you in any way can you PLEASE leave me a thumbs up like on my review. Thank you.
Ended up visiting here because the line and wait to Canyonlands National Park was 2 & 1/2 hrs according to rangers. What an incredible surprise!! This ranked just as high as a couple of the national parks in Utah. However even better because the amount of people on the hiking trails were way less and many times we felt like it was just the two of us out there. The views were spectacular!! Great little snack area with awesome veggie wrap. What a gorgeous state park and very well run :) We didn't want to leave and it put a lot of pressure on Canyonlands to top the experience we had.
Extremely underrated place. Canyonlands National Park being next door hogs all the limelight but for some breathtaking close-up views of the canyon, Dead Horse Point State Park is perfect. It's also less travelled and quieter than all the neighboring parks. This review is intended for photographers. For hikes, the Canyonlands and Arches offer more options.
The park was well maintained and the views are amazing!! The information at the visitors center was very helpful.
The views from the Mesa down into the canyons are truly inspiring and the mountain bike trails are a nice mixture of technical & flowy - so much fun!
Gorgeous views... Especially of the River... Nice walk along the rim... We were only there for an hour because of the iconic view...$20 entry fee is pretty pricey... No discounts unless Utah resident
What a wonderful place! We camped in RV and enjoyed the spectacular sunsets!
Stunning, some of the best views I have ever seen for stargazing
This state park campground is located between Arches NP and Canyonlands NP...perfect for exploring both and Dead Horse Point State Park is fun to explore also. Beautiful visitor's center next to a breathtaking overlook. The Pony Espresso, located next to the visitor's center, provided us with delicious coffee as a break from our camping coffee
Amazing, breath taking views. And we did the planet night. It was so cool to see Saturn and Jupiter through a real telescope. And Ranger Spencer was amazingly intelligent about everything Space related. It was awesome. Definitely coming back.
We were completely blown away by the views of the imposing canyons, rock formations, the distant mountains, deep craters created by the Colorado and Green Rivers, the most gorgeous sunset and then the amazing night sky including the Milky Way. Even the bathrooms were super clean and reminded us of 4-star hotel bathrooms. We spent a good three hours at the park after having arrived just before sunset. Highly recommend spending more time at this park with an interesting name.
Thoroughly enjoyed our day. Not used to the winds. In Florida we would considered them tropical storm winds. Here they just say winding.
Incredible vistas, especially if you're mobility challenged, wheelchair bound or otherwise. Paved cement trails, to stunning overlooks, all easy to walk to and very close to your vehicle. Costs $20 a car, and National Park passes don't count as it's a State Park, so if you've done Canyonlands and it wasn't your thing, don't spend the money because it's similar views to what you'd have already seen.
Biking was great with a good mix of flowy and technical.
Dead Horse State Park is a great stop. You can make it quick and just check out the views. Or you can spend some time there walking the rim trails and other hikes. The state has yurts available for camping which is fun. Easy parking. If you are heading to Canyonlands definitely consider this little stop.
This is the most amazing place I’ve ever been in Moab, just park your car, take a lot of pictures and Enjoy! ( amazing sky full of stars in sunset , peaceful and absolutely stunning view ) .
Amazing views, very clean, and the atmosphere is peaceful. Would recommend!:)
A lesser visited park with beautiful views in every direction.
Nice, but not that big place compared to Canyonlands national park which is close. Cost $20 per vehicle.
This is a great place for hikers, mountain bikers and people who want to get away from civilization. Really remote but great views of the canyons and night sky. The yurts are nice and spacious but got cold at night.
Great for overlooking views of the winding Colorado River. The cliffs are amazing, there are some pinnacles, and the huge rocks which have tumbled down. There is a nice shaded area. The restrooms are nice. Enjoy.
This is a beautiful lookout similar to the Grand Canyon. You can scan for miles and see the Colorado meet the Green River. This is where The famous Thelma & Louise driving off the cliff scene took place.
This place is amazing! Great views, good paths, nice visitors center. If you can't make it to the grand canyon, this is a great substitute on a much smaller scale. It's definitely worth a stop.
$20 to enter the park. I think it was worth it even though you can be in and out in an hour or so. Great pictures, and picnic type of place. Pretty stunning.
Absolutely stunning place! I can see why they film the bits of Westworld and probably many other westerns here! Short easy walk.
I loved visiting this spot in Canyonlands National Park. It's so vast and the views here were great. In between getting some photos it was so easy to just sit back and appreciate the ruddy canyons. I'll be back to Dead Horse Point in the future, for sure. Please remember to be safe and respect the rules.
Nice overlook, paid 10$, national park card is not accepted
Beautiful and a must experience. Great visitor center and clean bathrooms. While a bit of a drive away from Arches National Park, this state park is magically tucked away and has some great trails. Even if you decide to not hike, you can still experience the view from the visitor center area and look out areas.
Very nice views. Great for a day trip.
Lovely place with wonderful views and not alot of people. The trails are nice too. Fun to walk along the rim.
Haunted by thousands of horse spirits. Besides that, the camping and hiking was soooo beautiful. Clean restrooms. Awesome visitor center. Cool stickers. But seriously haunted by a herd of wild horse spirits.
Beautiful views. Nice day hikes. Cool mountain bike trails with some great views. Staff is great.
Very beautiful....on the same road as canyonlands np....we thought it had much better views
Beautiful views. Rock wall surrounds most of the area. $20 to visit, not a ton of hiking and there are shaded areas
Nice views great story so how the park was named they captured the center and built around it quite well definitely nice pictures was also really great to see views of the potash plant.
Fantastic place to see nature at its best. Bring lots of sun screen and water.
Incredible views into canyon lands. In most places in the country this would be a national park/monument. Less crowded and less expensive than nearby national parks (which are definitely also worth visiting).
This has a small campground feel with a GRAND BEAUTY for those who are lucky enough to reserve their spot in time! The sunsets & sunrises can only be compared to that of the Gran Canyon in our family’s option-but NO CROWDS!!!! The trails are GREAT too! Run? Bike? Or enjoy hiking? This place is for you!
Photos are worth a thousand words. Dead Horse point is absolutely beautiful. These photos were taken during sunset, during the Fourth of July weekend. Wear some bug spray and bring your camera! Do some yoga, meditate, propose to someone, have a picnic. This is the best place to be and to enjoy Mother Nature!
Absolutely breathtaking views. This is a must see. Wish we had more time to walk around but still worth it. Highly recommend.
such beauty. Breathtaking and heartstopping heights.
I’d never heard of this place until some friends had suggested we go there. It was spectacular! Simply breathtaking.
A very scenic overlook displaying a wonderful backdrop of the Colorado River. An interesting story about cowboys of yesteryear capturing wild mustangs and picking out the ones they wanted to keep and letting the stay penned up only to let them die of thirst and starvation while being able to see the river they couldn't reach. We saw some pictographs and petroglyphs.
Awesome Better views than canyon lands np
It's amazing, stunning and outstanding. I want to express it to you if I have some of the coolest words to express the coolness of this place. If you look at the flow of the Colorado River flowing along the curved path, you will be amazed. Also if you find out more about the sad story associated with this place, you will be impressed.
Awesome photographic opportunities, very similar to the Grand Canyon. The observation point is a short walk and is fairly large.
Perhaps the best State Park to be found in Utah or anywhere. The new Wingate campground is absolutely fantastic too!
Good site to feel flow of time and paradise for MTB enjoying. This is not Grand canyon but very nice place to enjoy Mt Bike in state park.
I stayed at Wingate campground in a tent on Dead Horse Point State Park. Smooth sandy tent pads, a sturdy metal awning over a metal picnic table to protect from high winds, and nice lined paths. Even the latrines were very clean and didn't smell. The RV and yurt sites have facilities with plumbing, just a few quick steps away from the tent sites. Do not miss Dead Horse Point Overlook, amazing view of canyons and Colorado River!
Amazing view , very sad story for the horses though
The mountain bike trails are super, super well-crafted and maintained... Excellent for those not in top shape wanting excellent views and varied and challenging intermediate terrain. Spring is beautiful with flowering cacti.
Absolutely beautiful state park! Scenic, and we even saw some kit fox babies and mama! WOW
Outstanding park. Don"t miss it. Excellent displays in visitor center. Great signage throughout park. Incredible views down into canyon. Not crowded.
One of the most Beautiful places I’ve ever been.
Awesome views and beautiful photo ops!
Well worth the time to go see the canyon.
Absolutely beautiful scenery and dark sky viewing opportunities.
Wonderful experience. My husband and I's really enjoyed the looking at the Colorado River and the beautiful scenery.
This is a must for anyone traveling the US! The hiking in the park is easy for anyone and any age so good for the whole family! The views will make you cry and you can easily visualize how the cowboys and Indians lived in this area, spectacular!!
This is a must see if you are in Moab, words cannot describe the raw beauty that nature offers you here, so many of the views don't look real. I wish I had done this many years ago.
Scenic, $20. Will want to walk or bike around to make the price worth it.
Wow.....just wow. Wish they had more food options but the gift shop was good enough. The views are incredible. I love these mountains and to see them from the top down is a treat. It's a drive to get there. There is day areas for camping and camping spots. I'd never camp there. The elements are too unpredictable and there is no protection.
Outstanding views. Not very crowded.
I just stayed overnight here at Wingate Campground and was very pleased with the amenities. The campsites are well marked and laid out with solidly built shelters. I arrived just before sunset and got to take in and capture some amazing views. A few hours later, I went back out to get some shots of the Milky Way. The moon decided to make an appearance, which would typically ruin a night shot. Somehow, everything worked out just right, though. Finally, after way too little sleep, I greeted the sunrise over the La Sal mountains. This park is a fantastic little gem that is completely overshadowed by it's much larger and far more popular national cousins. It's nowhere near as big, but the views are incredible and you can see Canyonlands stretching away on the other side of the gorge, which is nothing to sneeze at. There isn't a huge amount of hiking trails (since you're on top of a narrow mesa) but you won't run out of great scenery on the trails. If you find yourself in Moab and you have free time, take a trip here for the day/night. The drive isn't bad at all and you won't regret it!
Beautiful park. Way less crowded than the nearby parks. Great campsites.
Incredible views of the canyon and river below. There's plenty of parking, restrooms, and viewpoints. There are no guard rails by the edge of the overlooks, so keep your little ones close!
Unbelievable scenery. The Grand Canyon could have not been more any more spectuliar than this.
One of my favorite places to visit in south-east Utah. Just take your time to enjoy the beauty of nature - the view is breathtaking! And one of my other favorite spots nearby is Arches N.P. - it’s just a 30 minute ride from there and you definitely don’t want to miss out on either of them!
This was my first mountain biking experience and I had such a blast. It was a beautiful and challenging course that left my exhilarated!
Beautiful scenery great trails Would go back. It's kept very nice
In my opinion this is better than the Grand Canyon
Breathtaking here too. True fact: in the movie THELMA & LOUISE this is the jumping off point they took NOT in Arizona :) true stuff, Google it.
We got into the park later in the day and we enjoyed a fantastic sunset !! Didn't have enough time to see more of the park. Hope to return to explore more sometime in the future.
Beautiful park. Much smaller than you realize. Hiking is available but this is mostly a bike trail park which is great and the trails are solid. Everything from tech to smooth singletrack with amazing views
Hike the rim trail for some fantastic overlooks that you may just have to yourself. Let your feet hang over a Boulder and enjoy the only thing you can hear - the wind.
Very pretty. Well organized. Sweet that a state park has a little cafe and stuff. We hiked with our dogs. There's no shade so make sure to pack in water for hiking with dogs (maybe for humans, too). We are hoping to go back and mountain bike soon.
Beautiful. Easy family friendly hikes and drives. Yurt camping was a new fun experience. For those of us that got up early the sunrise was wonderful and the wildlife fun to watch.
Nice place to camp just be careful about where Google navigates you lol. There are some trails you do not want to take a regular car on
Great ranger programs daily. Awesome views to rival the Grand Canyon. Traffic and parking are so much better. You can drive! No special transport needed. We stayed here for 3 nights, should have done a week. Hot in day cool at night in August. Electric only you should bring your own water. Dump station.
The stunning view point from the cliff of the valley. Easy to access these views without on foot.
A great place for sight seeing, camping and exploring. Awesome bike trails and clean bathrooms. Helpful volunteers and staff.
Love this state park. Very similar to canyon lands. Not worth it if you have a national parks pass.
One of my favorite places to visit. Beautiful view of the river as it carves it's way around. Easy walking to see all the great views. If you 4X4 it's very close to the Gemini Bridge trail... not to be missed.
It's a state park so the annual national parks pass does not work here. The $20 entry fee (good for a few days) is a little high but the views are really amazing. The overlooks are easy to get to and not much of a hike. Plan at least an hour to see the major overlooks but you can spend a day here with all the different areas and trails. It is just 10 minutes from the Island in the Sky entrance of Canyonlands.
A little pricey for what is offered here, but its beautiful
It's a really beautiful area. Hot, dry ... but you can see a lot of water it's just two thousand feet below you! Most of the trails list in this area or beginner to intermediate. There are a few technical rocky challenges. But everything is easily by past or walked around. Expect sharp rocks and beautiful views. Depending on the season you go plan to start early to avoid midday Sun
All the improvements are awesome!! Love the ADA accessibility and the visitor center is so nice! Such a beautiful viewpoint
A great stop. We spent about half a day here. If you are hiking pay very close attention to the Rock cairns because it's very easy to get off trail. There's lots of chipmunks and lizards.
Ridiculous $20 entry. The view is nice but that is it, nothing else to do and not nearly as impressive as some of the other views around. In fact the fees at all the Utah parks are kind of ridiculous. If I'm here only a few hours why do you force me into getting a $20-35 for a 3-7 day pass. The drive up is nice and you get some decent views as well, just turn around when you get to the fee area. The view should be free or donation based.
One of the smaller and more underrated parks in Utah, probable because it's so close to Canyonlands and Arches, but one that you shouldn't miss. Everything is very well maintained from the visitor's center to the trails to the picnic areas. The view looking out over dead horse point is incredible, absolutely breathtaking.
Really well maintained park with excellent canyon views
Small walk from the parking lot. Beautiful views. Be very careful around the cliffs (
The scenery is spectacular. The weather is perfect. The campground is clean and each site is private with a large separation between sites. Clean bathroom facilities. Cost to rent is very reasonable. Shelters at all the sites. The visitor centre has lots of great information about the area as well as items for sale. There is a footpath running along the Rim of the Canyon. Lots of hiking and biking trails. Come in the spring before it gets too hot.
Do not miss dead horse point. Top 5 best views in the country, and nice picnic areas as well. Also, amazingly not crowded at all. Camping fills up quick, but it's easy to camp in the desert on BLM land, then drive here when you want to.
Scary cliffs but very fun to adventure in
Well worth the time and fee. Multible trail choices. Bikes and hikers alike. Go.
Great views for sunset, much better view of the canyons and rivers than any of the nearby national parks. There are nice roofed pavilions for lunch or dinner. The bathroom is reasonable. Take plenty of bug spray and water.
If you are in Moab, you must do the drive out for a side trip. This park has dog friendly trails (arches doesn’t). The only reason I found this place and wanted to drive out was because my curiosity of the purple spots I saw on google map (turns out that they are potash ponds). It is incredibly beautiful here.. views and all. they also have plenty of signage and a visitation center with so much information on the history of this park.
Gorgeous stop in Utah. Very clean but unimproved campsites. Pit toilets by the walk in sites. Flush toilets in the middle of the other campsites. The stars are worth the trip alone.
Great campground! Nicely maintained and quiet. Awesome biking and visitor center!!!
Dead Horse Point is a beautiful view, specially early morning. We went there to see the sun rise from the east side and the the view was just amazing, beautiful, breathless. Highly recommend this place to see, is an experience worth doing.
Little expensive for the experience, and steer clear of the coffee shop at the visitor center. The sandwiches were good but the attitudes were bad.
It doesn't sound like much from the name, but it is actually a really beautiful area. Plenty of great views, decent camping spots, and a well maintained park. The visitor center has a very interesting miniature history museum, art gallery, and fun facts about the local plant life.
1.4 mile, one way hike, or you can drive. Nice visitors center. Food and drink can be bought.
Don't miss this State Park, 9-miles north of Moab on US 191 and then 23 miles south on SR 313. This is a fee area and the National Parks Pass doesn't work here, nor will admission purchased here work at the National Parks. We paid $15 for our car with two adults. Park hours are 6AM-10 PM year round. Camping is available by reservation. There are 21 places, with additional ones opening soon. Pets are allowed if leashed. The story behind the name involves some 1800’s cowboys and the natural corral they constructed on the point of the river's oxbow. It was used as to corral the wild horses in the area. The round-up herded the horses across the narrow neck and onto the point. The Cowboys culled the horses they wanted from the herd and left the others behind. The point was waterless and the horses charged the rim 2,000 feet below, due to their thirst. There is a lovely Visitor Center and the drive begins there. We stopped at the Neck and again at the Dead Horse Point Overlook traveling between them on a nice well-kept road. We did do the shorter of the two dedicated hiking trails, the 1.5-mile Dead Horse Viewpoint Trail, which leaves from the Visitor Center. Both trails are easy, fairly level and paved in crushed rock. The shorter one was even suitable for the tour busload of seniors with walkers. There is a picnic shelter there but no restrooms. Farther on, there are two solar evaporating ponds for a potash mine. Water is pumped into the ponds, and when it evaporates, huge ‘truck’ scrapers ‘harvest’ the salts, which are converted into potash and used in plant fertilizer.
We have been to the Grand Canyon Park and this was just as breathtaking if not more. Gives a huge view of the Colorado River and canyons. It was very interesting to learn about the potash ponds and the harvesting process. It was so much more peaceful as it seems that very few people take advantage of the beautiful spectical. Several films have filmed scenes in the canyon including the famous scene in Thelma and Louise, were in the finale they drive there car off of the cliff into the Colorado river.
This is a great access location to Canyon Lands with great views.
