REVIEWS OF Bullock Texas State History Museum IN Texas

Well preserved history. Very informative. It will be great if you can invite our president, Mr. D. Trump to learn our history.

Rho Howell

Fun birthday outting with friends! Awesome shows and exhibits.

Disco Taz

The exhibit of La Belle and all the items she contained is fascinating.

Debra Roubik

So many exhibits! I wish we had more time to spend there.

Tony Cleveland

Go here! There is the remnants of an amazing French ship From the 1600 that ran aground and was unearthed som 300 years later. The history of Texas is tremendous and quite literally encompasses all parts of the creation of the US to today. Lots of good stuff here to learn and see.

Natasha Mccoy

This beautiful museum is complimented by a series of movies situated throughout the exhibition spaces. The short films do a wonderful job on a variety of subjects related to Texan history, from music to historic battles. The gift shop is filled with everything Texas. The displays include an excavated hull of a French colonial shipwreck from 1686, an Alamo facade, Austin City Limits theatre, and an AT-6A airplane suspended from the ceiling. The rotunda has a massive stair case leading up to the galleries.

Mohit Advani

Decent museum. The exhibits are mixed and not in chronological order. However, I got the feeling that it is a one sided view of history and glorifies Texas too much.

Amazzengracegirl Grace

My experience was great at the museum today. Especially since it was the Sunday where admission was free. However, I approached an older woman sitting by the cotton gin on the third floor. She asked me and my family to touch her cotton. FYI, my children are very shy. But they did not hesitate to touch the cotton. When they did the old woman asked if we spoke English. I was very offended by this statement. My children are extremely intelligent and polite. When they we asked this, I was extremely offended by her behavior to my children.

Alicia Moore

It was really cool and well-preserved history. Very informative and perfectly decorated museum. Excellent family place and live with friends.

gwkle

Great as always! Loved the new space cowboys exhibit. Will be back for any new exhibit that they have.

John Story

What a fantastic museum. Lot's of history, lots of great displays, beautiful and engaging layout, divided across three floors. Good mix of fun displays and in-depth history.

Constance Jones

Our 4th grade classes visited this beautiful museum. There is so much Texas history in here that you need to stay for at least 3 hours to see everything. The staff was very friendly and didn't mind giving short lessons.

V Gabby

This museum was a very pleasant surprise and a great way to get out of the heat. Really enjoyed the cowboys in space exhibit and learned a thing or two about Texas history. A good place to bring visitors from out of town and the AC was dreamy.

Gena Quarantello

This was a wonderful Museum. So much history and 3 floors of amazing things. Loved all of it. Recommend it to all. If you get tired just go to the floor with the Music presentation and have seat and enjoy.

Timothy Williams

What a wonderful museum. Very nice architecture and a wide selection of Texas style art. The IMAX is an added bonus! They have good special events there too. Fun experience for the entire family.

Michael Brannan

I absolutely love the Texas History Museum. I've gone now three different times and always learn something new. The exhibits are detailed, informative, and entertaining. Each time they've had something new, too. Additionally, the IMAX theatre is very nice and impressive. Especially for free museum day, this place is hard to beat!

Stavros Macrakis

A lot of great material about the history of Texas. But coverage is uneven. There is a huge gallery on some of the earliest European exploration, with an excavated French ship, but little on the actual Spanish governance and economy -- which lasted 300 years! There's a bit on the pre-European cultures, but it feels spotty and incomplete. The biggest emphasis is on the political history of the 19th century, a sort of Whig history of the march toward statehood. There are some fascinating exhibits about some of the early non-Spanish colonists ... including failed settlements ... but it's very light on the demographics and economics of the period: how much farming, how much ranching, the competition of the different railroads (something that the Dallas museum emphasizes), landowning patterns, income distribution, the later oil economy, the sources of immigration, .... What was the role of Mexicans and Spanish-speakers? There is a little material (but not enough) on slavery in all its aspects -- where was it most common? what work did slaves do? what were ownership patterns? All in all, though the exhibits themselves are nicely done, the coverage is too uneven and biased towards the Anglo narrative of progress.

miriam vargas

Good for kids. Highly recommended.

Mike Rhodes

Awesome place, it was nice to take my kiddos and feed them knowledge from the roots of our beautiful state!!

Raven Cortright

Great place for history geeks- lots to learn about Texas history and culture. Nice air-conditioned stop, too, if youre looking for something indoors to escape the heat.

Pete K. Wong

Love this spot!!! Glad we made it in. Go for history, learn all about the mystery. I loved how diverse it was and gained much knowledge about Austin, but Texas and the history of America all in one! Great museum!

Marcos Garcia

very polished displays, friendly knowledgeable staff, parking garage below, and an IMAX theater that shows both mainstream and educational movies. excellent, day-filling Austin gem. been here multiple times for free events, special showings, and a couple of movies as well. I've had a great experience every time I've been here and I don't think I could say that about most places. things to keep in mind: there is a cafe, but the food is over priced and not the best quality (think Luby's.) there is no food or drink allowed in the main display rooms, so make sure you either bring a resealable container and a backpack, or be ready to drink from a water fountain. the gift shop is also a bit on the pricey side, but everything is pretty high quality. I hope this encourages you to check this place out. a really good time no matter who you are or who's coming with you.

Mark Gregory

Such a fascinating place. Really well presented. Too much cool stuff for only one visit. Got to came back! Food really good here, too!

Jente De Wilde

I’m sorry but only one star, 2 reasons. One: you aren’t giving any guided tours, two: I think it’s totally unreasonable to promote animal hunting especially bisons

marconi adhikari

Loved it. A must visit place when you are in Austin. A surprise kids loved it too which was not what I was expecting. Due to on going constructions, parking was tricky though.

McGhee Orme-Johnson

Amazing museum full of history! It's so big I couldn't complete it all in one day, so I will have to come back some time. Lots of great interactive exhibits!

Patrick Prudhomme

This is such a great museum. 3 floors of pure joy and history. Really liked the WWI exhibit.

Andrea

My 8 yr old son asked to go to this museum with his grandpa. We were able take part in the military month or whatever, where we got in for free because his dad is in the Air Force. This doesn’t happen as much as it used too so it’s greatly appreciated. This museum is laid out beautifully, 3 floors of artifacts, videos, and interactive exhibits. There is enough room to take your time reading and not be in the way of other guests. The staff was friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were clean and easily accessible. This is an awesome stop and a great way to learn the history of our great state of Texas.

Jade Martinez

Great little gem! All about Texas history. Really enjoyed the exhibit on space cowboys and La Belle.

Rani Rombaut

Interesting museum about the history of Texas. You start at the first floor and work your way up to the third floor. They did a good job on making it more interesting by combining plain information with objects/ artifacts (?), movies, special staging/ decor and so on. Next to that the information panels were not too big or long so it was easier to read them all. I find long panels discouraging and they make my head explode. Here is was always a very nice amount of information. First and second floor are all about the history. The third floor is more 'relaxing' and talks about music stars, professional athletes, pictures of Texas from the sky, ranches, ... The café on the second floor gives a break right on time. They also offer other services (like movies).

Remy Scott

If you want to learn all about the history of Texas, this is the place to do it. Shipwrecks, wars, and flags, all beautifully displayed in about a 2 hour visit. UT discount applies!

Robert R

As a history nerd, this place is a true heaven to me. Though I reserved an entire afternoon towards visiting their exhibits, I found myself having to pull myself out after having only seen the first of three floors! I will definitely be back again to enjoy the fabulous collections and well-composed accompanying materials.

Tara Beebani

I really enjoyed the different exhibits in the museum. It's a three story museum. The first level is a comprehensive overview of the history of the discovery/competition to colonize Texas by the Spanish and French, and excavation efforts to recover artifacts. The second level is about the independence of Texas and the wars that lead up to that. The third floor is modern day Texas highlight the stars/pioneers of Texas. During my visit, there was a photography exhibit called Texas from above which was fantastic, because it had pictures of different parts of Texas accompanied with photos of the terrain and nature of each part. I loved the museum, but I am a bit biased, because I love museums.

Michael Branscom

This is my favorite museum I've been to anywhere. Good WW1 exibit then you get in the main Texas history part which is big and interesting. I'm usually pretty impatient and have a short attention span but I spent nearly 3 hours here and only left when they were closing down and kicking everyone out.

laura mussell

We love being members of the Bullock museum! It has something for everyone. Rich Texas history and wonderful rotating exhibits. The updated Labelle exhibit is a must see.

Emmanuel Kehinde

You get first hand Information about the history of Texas socially, politically and the artifacts are all amazing too

Elizabeth Walls

Interesting and varied displays. Lots of information for all ages. We enjoyed the interactive touchscreen activities. Cafe is very reasonable as well.

Mark Canales

Came on a free Sunday. Very interesting but give it mote than a couple of hours to see everything

Jennifer Johnston

Great multimedia presentations throughout Texas history; perspective of other nations as Texas fought for Independence; war, peace, oil, prairie, native Americans; planes, music, athletes. Plus a really big start to get your picture with. Free on first Sundays off the month. Currently a WWI exhibit focused on Texans' involvement, and currently a membership discount (through August, I believe). Enjoy!

Kevin Kosch

I've been a couple times now and have enjoyed it a lot. Much more impressive than I was initially expecting! Lots of history that is well organized and interesting. The special exhibits I've seen have been thoughtfully chosen and put together.

J Schneider

Went here as part of a short get-a-way. This place was the best part of the trip. The exhibits were outstanding. They were both entertaining and informative. The staff was very friendly. This is a must see place, especially if you are Texan. Could have stayed longer.

Delaney Owens

Fun museum. Very educational. Great for kids who are interested in history!

Rodrigo De Luna

Decent museum. The WWI exhibit was a bit lackluster. The museum also seems to glorify Texas a bit too much, losing objectivity a bit.

Tanya Schmidt

This is a must see if you want a detailed and mostly objective view of Texas state history. There is a nice museum shop and imax screens! Would definitely be going back to check out the movies. The museum is very nice and well laid out. There is a little cafe too. Definitely need a few hours or more to walk through and experience everything. Looking forward to going back!

Maria Adeboyejo Mendoza

This was a great experience..... And we didn't even finish seeing everything. Definitely need a couple hours to get through all the exhibits!

Maria Reyna

I can't believe I've never visited in the past! I got a History lesson like no other. Too bad we arrived within an hour of the museum closing. In just this short time I learned things I either didn't know or had forgotten about. We are definitely coming back and making it an entire day of history for us and two foreign exchange students we're hosting.

Daniel Masud

Very informative and nicely decorated museum. The WWI exhibit they have right now is very nice and I recommend seeing it. The first Sunday of every month is free.

prajakta kulkarni

This is a beautiful museum filled with engaging and informative material. Please be advised you need atleast 3 hours if you want to really enjoy the visit. Their gift store is also great, do lookout for some clearance in the back.

Derek Leong

There's a parking lot underneath that costs $10. Walking distance to the capital. Has great AC and makes a great place to escape the heat. The museum is well put together and the prices are pretty good for what you get. If it's your first time visiting Texas this is a great crash course into its history.

Julio Trujillo

First Sunday of the month and the museum was free admission. Got to see so many great pieces of Texas history and the first level exhibits explaining First Nations people's history was a great start to learning more about the missing history.

Lawrence Tan

A great place to take the kids to study Texas history first hand. The exhibits are well organized and informative. They really capture the interest of the kids with cool artifacts and we'll written information panels. Please like review if it has been helpful to you.

Jeff Thomas

Good museum to walk around in and beat the Texas heat. Parking is $10 in the garage close by. There are 3 floors of different exhibits that cover a wealth of knowledge about Texas and it's people. On Sunday, the grill in the cafe is closed, so it's only grab n go (snacks, sandwiches, chips, drinks). Just FYI in case you were going after the Cowboy Patty Melt.

TM G.

Excellent museum. Great place to learn more about Texas history. Very organized and informative. We also loved the iMax theater, we watched a documentary about the Amazon in 3D and my kids really enjoyed the largest movie screen in TX!

Thresia Wille

Fabulous museum! Plan to spend two days touring it. It has incredible collections and interactive exhibits. We missed the Steve Ray Vaughn exhibit, but we hope to catch it next time it is available.

Mayank Asthana

I watched 3d Alladin and it was the best movie experience I have had in a long time. The 3d image was vivid and the sound was great.

Marnie Thompson

Beautiful building and interesting exhibits. The movie of Spirit of Texas is well worth experiencing.

Samy Ghannam

The best way to know the real Texas j love this place always something new great staff

Tiffany Dam

Save your money and go to the other free museums in the area. I just visited the Bob Bullock Museum literally 10 minutes ago and I left with a completely sour mouth in my taste. The museum closes at 5 PM, understandable. We were walking down the three flights of stairs to head out the main door at 5:06 PM. When we got to the first floor we quickly decided to take a picture in front of the mural on the floor as we were exiting the building. We were quickly approached by the security officer walking up to me aggressively past my comfort zone trying to push us out the door. When trying to explain we just wanted a quick picture he turned around, put up his arms and said "he tried". I even asked if I could use their restroom and all he did was point to the exit door. I've never seen anything like it. Afterwards when I tried to get my purse that was sitting on the bench he blocked me and questioned if it was even mine. I will NOT be going there again. Go to the UT campus that is free and treats their guests with southern hospitality. You won't regret it.

Indradeep Biswas

An extraordinary museum in the heart of Austin. I visited the museum for watching a movie in the IMAX 3D theater. The theater is HUGE, and as some locals told me, this is the best theater in town. Not much of a fan of the food, but it you are in for the movie experience, this is the place to be.

Cracker Jack

I loved it. I love how its interactive. Although a bit small it was awesome to go and see all the artifacts

Edwin Raynor

A very awesome and enjoyable experience took my kids and they enjoyed it you will spend a few hours here.

Kerry Bradley

This is a remarkably beautiful and comprehensive state museum. The people of Texas are fortunate to have it. The museum has numerous interesting exhibits and a encompass a comprehensive historical timeline. The museum also includes several movie theaters, including an IMAX theater - but be aware the movies cost extra.

Laurie Williams

The A-C in here is incredible. Also, so is TX history. I loved it.

Jeni Hudson

A great place to go. The free days are definitely worth it and a lot of fun. Will be returning soon.

Conor Runge

Great museum of Texas history from early origins to famous musicians, this place really has something for everyone. Check out one of the 4D movies as well, it's a lot of fun. Plus teachers get in free!

idle king

I loved this museum! I took the metro to get here and got soaked head to toe from unexpected pour of rain, but the friendly staff totally understood and redirected me towards the lockers. Lockers are free to use, but you have to have 2 quarters in order to use it (you get it back when you are done using the locker). The locker area was clean and open. Totally handicap and wheelchair okay! The bathrooms are very large and clean. The museum is made up of three lvls, each with its own little themes and area. There are a cute little activities for kids on the each floor, it's easy to keep them occupied :) Very enjoyable and would love to visit again someday.

Scott Jenney

Great space exhibit and free admission once a month.

Amy Kane

Lots of unique collections to see, ranging from a Frieda Kahlo portrait to a Gutenberg Bible to the history of photography. Very friendly staff, and the admission is free.

Cyrus Baty

This museum is awesome. We scheduled their short “Star” film for 11 and IMAX of American Journey for 2 pm, all in the same building. Together with a Noon stop at the cafe, made for a great day. The museum is beautifully laid out with artifacts galore. Lots of small films and activities in each section. We arrived about 9:30 which was perfect. Recommend start on floor one (oldest history). Progress to floor 2, finish on floor 3 (most recent events).

Benito Garcia

Great museum to visit with your family. Volunteers work very helpful and informative

Dana Kimmel

This museum is excellent. The children enjoyed it. There were lots of interesting facts and finds. There is great accessibility for handicapped and people with mobility issues. There are places to stop and rest your back a minute. elevator access for all floors. A small cafe with a balcony on the second floor, as well as a huge gift shop.

Xavier Quesada Allue

This modern and well setup museum will teach you the history of Texas for $13. There is free wifi and a restaurant inside. We were told to estimate 1.5 hours but if you really want to go through it in detail I would say 3 to 4 hours are required. The highlight of the museum is the reconstructed ruins of La Belle, a French colonial ship from the late 1600's.

Byron Smith

The Pictures Band has performed here and really enjoyed the nice venue for a wedding and a Corp party too! Highly Recommended!

Doug Nero

Got a family membership no regrets there so much to explore and learn every time ..they have the space cowboy displays going on now..

Allen Moore

We came to see the LaBelle but also enjoyed all of the exhibits. Another must visit for any one interested in Texas history. Be aware that Austin can be crowded.

Brooke Snow

This is a great museum! We try to visit every time we are in Austin. The IMAX movies are always great, and the displays are well done.

Ryan McGuire

One of the most beautiful museums I've been to in a while. The large rotunda is stunning but doesn't compare to the quality exhibits. Awesome representation of our state's history.

Terry Duncan

Chaperoned my son's 4th Grade field trip from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. This museum is three wonderfully full floors of artifacts and enriching exhibits that make the breadth and depth of Texas history approachable, accessible, engaging, and entertaining for children and adults alike. It was a truly shared experience with my son that we both treasure enough to want a return visit as a whole family. Texas pride is on display by the well-maintained, clean, roomy facility. Don't hesitate-- this museum is a memory maker and absolutely worth the trip!

Ben Waggoner

Very very nice Museum! A great place to spend a few hours for any Austin. Also as from someone from Indiana, it was nice to learn a lot more about Texas very interesting indeed for a decent price!

N Machunze

Fabulous museum. Tons of quality artifacts, art and history. Really well done and reasonably priced. Park at the Capital parking lot and get two hours of free parking.

Juan Angel

Imax theater is amazing. The museum is a great for family fun to beat the heat this summer.

Gina Stokes

This was the first time that I had visited the museum. It was during the Cool Summer nights series. Of course they had exhibits, they also had free samples of sparkling water and Tito's vodka. There was an Improv show, it had children and adults in it. There was also a planetarium, the line was long for that exhibit. All in all I really enjoyed the experience. I will go visit again. I recommend this event for families with children as well as a date night.

RandomTallGuy

I really enjoyed the WW1 installation, and their depth of understanding and nuance was refreshing. Too few museums and historical sites have such detailed breakdowns of economic realities, and the perspectives of people of color during those periods. Also, their shipwreck display was phenomenal. The rest of the museum is okay if you're interested in Texas history, but to me as someone less interested in Texas history the museum was much less interesting after the first floor. However I would definitely recommend it for anyone interested in the state history of Texas.

Michelle Mower

When you visit Austin you must definitely take in the theater showing of Texas history it's quite cool and fascinating and you really learn a lot and it's a great way to sit down in the air condition for just a little bit and it's only $5

Jeff Swartwout

Very well thought out and laid out. Clean and high quality with helpful staff.

CG Flug

Love it. New exhibits are always coming in and the story telling through exhibits, electronic displays, interactive screens and documentaries is a great way to experience history. If you go more than a couple times a year, see their movies or documentaries, then it's worth getting the membership.

matthew rowland

It has been a long time since I had been here and they make it a great experience for the kids and adults. The movie is a must. It is informative and fun for everyone.

Ric Rini

hey do a fantastic job of moving you through Texas history. I enjoyed the last floor of the the exhibits the most but all were engaging. My favorite exhibit was the restored ship hull of the 17th century french ship, La Belle. The display and views allowed you to get up close to observe the craftsmanship of early to be a fantastic exhibit. Set up perfectly to get the best viewing angles. With a total of four floors there are plenty of exhibits to keep you occupied for 2-4 hours.

Jason Forman

Very educational. The ship is really interesting as well.

Springer Julian

This beautiful museum is complimented by a series of movies situated throughout the exhibition spaces. The short films do a wonderful job on a variety of subjects related to Texan history, from music to historic battles. The gift shop is filled with everything Texas. The displays include an excavated hull of a French colonial shipwreck from 1686, an Alamo facade, Austin City Limits theatre, and an AT-6A airplane suspended from the ceiling. The rotunda has a massive stair case leading up to the galleries.

Anna Marie Baligod-San Diego

The Bullock Museum provided me with a very rich and creative presentation of Texas' history and its people that I will never see in books.

Behnam Babaknia

Awesome place where you can learn about Texas and how it came to, stop reading this mini review and go visit it already

Katheryn Blundell

I visited the Bullock Texas State Museum in December 2018. The museum was full of historical information as well as some modern art pieces. It really helped me get a sense of Texas, and finally understand what they mean by 'always remember the Alamo'. Their featured local painter was incredible and was on site for discussions. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Austin!

Jeremiah Tesch

This is a nice museum with some interesting exhibits. They had just opened an exhibit on WWI before we visited and it was quite interesting. One thing they could improve is explaining the context for their exhibits and why they are being shown. For example, the ship hull of La Belle is quite interesting to see but we had to read all of the plaques in the surrounding area to piece together an idea of what had happened to it. Perhaps a summary plaque could be placed in front of each of the major exhibits or something. Otherwise great though! The underground parking garage was a nice convenience. We were able to leave my car there while exploring the city.

Matthew Heffernan

Free on Sunday and very much worth a visit. There is a lot of history here and the exhibits are very cool for all ages.

Grace Gravestock

Great big screen but bring a jacket because it's cold in there!

Gage Mallo

Nice museum in downtown Austin, good for visitors to the state. Questionable gift shop but that's to be expected.

Lauren Naomi

We were visiting the art museum nearby and saw signs for the WW1 installation, and decided to come check it out. The prices are about $12/person and they are pretty OK with you taking in personal bags. The bathrooms are very clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and happy to help you with anything you need to know. The rest of the museum had lots of Texas centric history and some really well presented and preserved boat wreckage.

dennis l lanning

all around xlnt museum displaying texas history in colorful audio visual and photographic formats. special display on world war 1 pretty well done with effort to include diverse groups into our history.

Katherine Gillett

One of my favorite museums to browse and take friends and family who visit from out of town. Amazing exhibits and so much to see.

Sara Esfahani

We were visiting Austin in a rainy day (I know! Real unfortunate) and we ended up going to the history museum, which was great except for one big issue! They had live music in the lobby and it was extremely loud and you could hear it from everywhere in the museum. This was annoying to the point that we ended up not seeing the 3rd floor (last section of the museum) and just leave. So, my recommendation is that if you go there and there is live music, do not get tickets, otherwise it's a great and informative experience about Texas history.

Kevin Watterson

A must see, takes 5 hours to see everything but worth it the WWI exhibit was awesome

Anthony Walker

Had a good time browsing the museum with my wife. Very refreshing taking in history.

Patrick Walker

What an awesome museum. My work did a company Christmas party here which was awesome. Great building, great time. I'd totally be happy to do it again!

Reuban Hernandez

This place has unique items and every crack and crevice this is a must-see in Texas

derrick nagle

Great Museum, really enjoyed it and learned a lot. The Cowboys in Space was a nice surprise and lots of fun.

Charles Estes

Very fun and lots to see and do. Free on first Sunday of the month. Good activities for kids.

David Garnica

Excellent museum, the exhibitions are extremely well done. The whole place looks brand new and well organized. I took my kids to it they loved them. The IMAX movie theater is breath taking. This is a must is you are in the area!

affan breacher

There was a lot to see here. For 13 bucks (9 dollars for ages 4-17) you can see many exibhits, from America during the First World War, to learning about Texas history. The Bullock Museum is a worthwhile visit.

Jeff Theis

Admission price is reasonable, and they give discounts for veterans. They Cafe has pretty good food, but it is a little over-priced. The museum displays have well written informational cards, some in both Spanish and English. The building itself is very beautiful. Not too difficult to get to, except for the construction going on around it.

Jeffrey Gunn

I was honestly surprised, I love the museum it was well put together. My family's favorite part was the Cowboys in space part of Museum exhibits. All in all it was a pretty awesome trip. The whole museum was amazing. Definitely worth a visit!

Kevin Garlick

Great time today at the Museum. Many great exhibits for all ages to enjoy. I certainly learned a few new things and so did the kids. The 4-D movie theater was awesome and very cool info...i recommend spending the little bit extra if you can to experience it. I will need to go again when I have more time to get to all the Museum exhibits...this trip was more about being a chaperone the kids around. The ship was also really cool.

Artem Chebotko

Definitely worth a visit. The place is a bit small compared to say Washington DC or Houston museums, but it is about Texas.

Huimon Philious

Walking into this building it is amazing to see the beautiful image on the floor. It is worth working around the floors and enjoying the installations. Staff are friendly and well informed.

Steven Lowe

This is a treat, lots of great Texas history and artifacts. Lots of videos too! 3 floors of history here, and lots of space.

Juanita Sabochick

Very interesting place to see Texas history. Lots of displays, interactive, informative, short clips and longer movies. Nice place to spend a few hours.

Steve H.

The Texas history is told mainly with narrative and photos here. There are some artifacts and a few period displays. I feel more connected to history with artifacts and displays than written history that I can get in books or the internet. I also didn't like having to pay for $10 parking in addition the entrance fee. The parking fee should be based on how long you stay not a flat rate.

Alex Sandell

Interesting history of Texas, as a non local I went in with an open mind and was surprised. Very in depth of the past and present of Texas with interesting temporary exhibits

Barbara Kanoza

Fabulous place to learn about Texas history. We were told it would take about 1.5 hours but we read quite a bit of the info and it took us four hours. Well worth it! There is a small cafe for drinks and sandwiches. Parking garage below the museum but it's an additional $10 charge. Disappointed in that charge; should be lower or complimentary for museum visitors. Still highly recommend the museum.

Andrey Gray

Very enjoyable, presentation and xzibit layouts we're very appealing. A must visit if you enjoy history or Texas literature.

Fernando Sanchez

Great museum to learn Texas history! Was here for hours!!! Few pics but this is a must see for yourself!

Brandon Propst

Good selection of Texas based history. Worth a stop by.

C GD L

Fantastic! The spirit of Texas multi-sense theater was cool too. Prob my fav thing in Austin.

Joseph Crain

Very interesting place, must visit if your in the area.

Anthony Gagliano

Really well thought out, lots of different exhibits, full of diverse views and lots of history. Starting from 16000 years ago where it all began, Civil wars, early beginnings, revolutions and modern progressive changes to present. Thanks Bob!

Aaryn Lamb

I was sad there wasn't more about the Texas Rangers and more modern events in Texas. There wasn't a lot to keep younger kids engaged. But as an adult who it's a native Texan, I really enjoyed the museum. They did have a kids craft today (Saturday) so that was a nice surprise.

Corina Longoria

Our school took our History Club here and we had such a fun time. Our students greatly enjoyed the WWI exhibit. We definitely saw history come ALIVE!

Cristabel Bodden

Attended screening of "Friday's Child". Amazing film on aging out of foster care system. Impact full, drama-filled, action-packed film. Actors did an such a wonderful job on sharing light on this issue. Thank you Ticket to Dream Foundation, OnBuzz, and first lady of Texas, Ms. Abbott for the opportunity to attend this event.

Lady Lemon

The exhibits are constantly changing so this is a place you can visit often and never get bored. Parking is extra, but it isn't a long walk to the elevators. The museum is filled with interactive things and is perfect for multiple age groups. Great place to take your kids or even to go on a date.

Angel Cordero

Loved the exhibits and the IMAX theater attached. Best museum to learn the history of Texas in my opinion.

彭郁舲

Loved it! Highly recommended to anyone interested in learning about the Texan culture. Compared to many other museums I've visited around the world, this one is a value-for-money. The average visiting time, according to the staff, was 1.5 hours. But I ended up there 4.5 hours! (I came from abroad so didn't know much about the US history.) Learn a lot and had fun. Thank you very much.

Colleen Story

So proud this Museum is "OURS". Austinites definitely have something to be proud of when travelers from other states or countries come to this museum, it's a great way to say "Welcome to Texas" (Just don't stay....lol) I've been to many many museums around the country......this one is by far the cleanest, most well designed museum I've ever been to. The exhibits are superbly displayed and explained. The ship exhibit blew my mind! It's spacious so when they have a busy day you still don't feel cramped. I had my daughter in a very large wheelchair with me on my last visit. I was able to navigate her around with no problem. Will definitely be going back when they open the top floor they are currently working on. Great job to all who contribute to keeping this museum interesting and in tip top shape!

Went to this museum a few years ago and it's time to go back. This is a fabulous museum, one of the best I've ever visited. Spent 5 hours there and that is the truth! Go, you won't regret!

My son really likes history, so it was very interesting to be there.

The museum never disappoints me. The guides know what to do and how to guide you. They are very patience. The exhibits are superb.

Loved it! Lots of exhibits and good video presentations. Bought my Texas "HOME" t-shirt at the gift shop.
