Beautiful place!!! Extremely peaceful. If you've ever wondered what the original settlers homes looked like, this is an amazing place to experience history. You are transported back in time as you become one with nature. Deer and wild turkeys are visible all along the trail. Picture a safari with people pulling over to take pictures. You can go into the old Appalachian homes and see close up, the craftsmanship of each building. Happy Trails!

The first "must see" in Cades Cove. Great place to make the first stop after a long drive and have a stroll to well-preserved log cabin. It's hard to imagine how John and his big family had enough room there. Spotted deers there one day. Parking is small however people typically don't spend a lot of time there so most likely you will find a spot. But of course general recommendation is to come earlier.

Love this place! We have been a few times but this time there was a guide with helpful information about the place and answered questions about it for us. Going here definitely takes you back to a more simple time and the views and scenery around is amazing. We went in the winter because we just moved back after being away for years. Can't wait to go back when it gets a bit warmer.

Cases cove is a wonderful place to explore! There are tons of trails (*although take care, as there are various amounts of wildlife including: deer, bear, & elk), places to stop to take beautiful pictures & homes/churches scattered throughout to explore. Everything is clearly marked. There is also a campground, cades cove visitors center & clean restrooms. The restrooms and visitors center is wheelchair accessible; however, the paths to all of the homes and churches are rutted, dirt paths and best suited for an all-terrain wheelchair.

Mmm...well it was just a cool little cabin with plenty of flowers and critters around it. I went on a nice rainy day so it wouldn't be too crowded and I got some really good pictures. It's worth checking out for sure and if you're a local you already know it's worth checking out several times a year because a each time is a different experience. Hitting up cades cove is always a good way to spend a day.

Somehow this structure has been standing for almost 200 years! It consists of a single room on the first floor and an attic above it. We read in the guidebook that the married adults and children slept below, and the young, single men slept above. It's a relatively small structure, so I'm sure most of the inhabitants spent their days off in the fields working. It's fun to stand at the hearth and imagine all the work which took place there.

Brian Brickham

First time in the Smokey’s. So much history to see and feel.

Historic location of an old homestead with a small River running nearby. The home has seen better days as it is over 200 years old but mostly because it has received a lot of graffiti over the years. It is so worth the stop to go take a look at the size of an old homestead house and imagine how they would have lived here two hundred years ago.

First stop on the cades cove scenic loop.... Beautiful house and property!! Parents, daughters, infants slept on first floor and the sons slept in the loft. The stairs to the loft are accessible so you can see upstairs. The guide book ($1 at the information station at the beginning) explains how the log homes were built and with mud mortar in between the logs. Get the guide book, the info is great! We were there on a Sunday and only saw half the loop. Traffic was heavy on the one way loop. Take lots of water and use the restroom before you start, as there is only a restroom at building 11, the historic mill.

jim catalfamo

A beautifully kept up, clean, and interesting piece of history. Very amazing to walk through knowkng how old it is. It's a great feeling to be walking through a hojse that was built from this mans own hands. Very humbling and a beautiful land. The Ranger had so much information as well It was beautiful.

Teresa Peer

Well kept and nice stop on the Cades Cove drive. It was a little bit of walk (not much) but we did see a deer as we were walking.

Fantastic place to visit.

Jason Robertson

Great scenery and a great example of what it was like to live in that time period. It's a slight up hill walk on uneven ground from the parking area, so those with kids may want to avoid strollers. You can walk inside and go up the stairs and look at what the second floor of a house from that period was like.
