It's an ocean with waves. Never had a shark bite me. Could use lifeguards like Baywatch but it's okay for now. Just slow mo milk jugs really would help the scenery

Misquamicut is a great beach especially after 4 pm when the crowds have gone down and it is free to get in! There is a restroom with showers, changing rooms, soap, and lots of stalls. The building with a gift shop and bathrooms is open till 6 pm. The life guards also leave at 6. It smelled like a lot of bad pot when I was there on a weekend but that is not at all typical. I 100% recommend.

Yes! The waves can get on the large size at times. I took this one afternoon while a tropical storm was about 100 miles off the coast. This is my go to beach because I like the sand and the vibe. New this year is the addition of a trash and recycling receptacle in the parking lot on the way out. In years past they would give you a plastic bag and you would bag your own garbage and take it home. With all the banning of plastic bags for the environment they decided this was a better option and I agree. Great beach!

Our 2nd family trip to this beach. We went during the week. Beautiful and peaceful. Only problems I saw, was some trash in the water and in the beach. We did see a few families helping to pick up trash they came across. Parking is not too bad and after 4 was free. We will definately continue to visit here.

Awesome beach that is well taken care of. There are lifeguards on duty here until 4pm. The water was clean of trash and seaweed. There is a very large parking lot and there are public showers and changing rooms. Also there is a playground and place to order food here.

Stay away from the state beach. Beware of glass. policy anouncements over the loud speakers every hour. The rules are very extensive. Pretty much no fun at that beach. Cant even fly a kite.

This the state beach parking was inexpensive. The overall was clean and well maintained. Lifeguard staff good. The reason I didn't give this beach a full 5-star rating is because of the seagulls which were ridiculously aggressive. You couldn't leave your belongings to go anywhere.

I went early on Tuesday, so weekday parking was inexpensive and there were plenty of spots in the lot. The beaches are clean with minimal seaweed, compared to Cape Cod. There is a facility with bathrooms, changing area, and showers. A 3-minute hot (and I mean really HOT water) shower was 75 cents to wash the sand and salt off.

This state park is one of the best love it there and it's not too expensive to go 7.00 for residents and 14.00 for out of state. The only thing is get there early cause it fills up pretty quick. Try to get a parking spot in their main lot cause all of the other parking is expensive starting from 20 to 5 dollar very expensive it matter what time you get there. In the area you have everything gift shop, playground, food, hotel, motel, inns. Traffic gets really bad in and out of the park. There are lifeguards everywhere. No drinking alcohol at the beach of bringing alcohol. Please clean after your self. Also water is freezing cold it's not hot and cozy. Sand is really soft.

Very nice beach with great rules on no smoking and alcoholic beverages. Its strictly a swimming beach but you can use boogie boards. The traffic in is a nightmare. Either from the south or east. Be prepared to sit in traffic. The town beach has all the amenities that you need and lots of parking. Beware of the women's restrooms. My wife said they were scary.

Beautiful beach, nice and sandy. Lots of parking. We got in after 10 AM on a hot Saturday in July. Not a lot of shells or rocks if you are looking for those. Kids loved the playground. My only complaint would be the outdoor showers. You have to hold the button down for the water to stay on at all. Not an issue if you are just rinsing yourself, but if you are picking up a child or baby, it can be a challenge with one hand tied up holding the button down.

Love the beach here, beware of the Seagulls, they have forgotten how to fish. Your lunch is now their desire. One swooped down and tried to take off with one of the young ladies Subway grinder. Took a chunk of bread and tried swooping back for more. Bring an umbrella so the little ones can eat under it or yourself!

A very nice State Beach with good waves and nice sand. There is also free sun block and hot showers (.75 for 3 min and. 25 for each additional min). Parking is ample and modestly priced.

I love Misquamicut beach and have been going for decades but this was the first time I went to the state beach. It was clean, no parking fee because it was late in the day. I love the waves at Misquamicut, it's open ocean so unlike the Long Island Sounds the waves can get pretty big. It was a perfect day, not too hot, sunny, the water was perfect temperature we walked right in, no jelly fish, a mild breeze, doesn't get better than that

Super crowded beach. I mean SUPER crowded. People sitting on top of each other almost no matter where you sit. One bathroom in the middle of the beach so it's a hike to get to. Sand is soft no shells or debris in it. Waves are amazing! Great for boogie boarding! Lots of parking with short walk to the beach area. Bathrooms are gross just like any other beach BUT they have separate showers and cha going rooms which is good. Nice beach but probably wont go back.

The State beach has been a family destination my whole life. Many memories growing up and many more with my own children. Plenty to do in the surrounding area with camping and shopping and a boardwalk with games and things for the family.They're always upgrading the amneties available. $12 dollars out of state during the week.

Way too crowded. If you going to have to be there 7am in order to get parking space. Police officers are not the most welcome they make the parking harder. Not going back!

Great place to spend the day. Food cart is pricey. Be very cautious, the gulls are barberic and if you turn your back on lunch, it will become theirs. Other than that....its good. Out of state parking is 14dollars for day at main gate.

I'm on my way back to NY from AREAA National Convention in Boston and this is the BEST PLACE TO VISIT on my way home. Locals say Oct is the best time to visit bc it's more quiet and water is still warm for surfers. I was only there to catch some sun and hear some waves and I couldn't have pick a better spot than this!

Definitely one of my favorite beaches in Rhode Island. Love the waves. I don’t recommend smaller children unless they’re supervised because the water can be really ruff at times and the undertow can be strong for some children. Other than that I love this beach.

Not much parking, if you really want parking u can go to the expensive parking lots like $40, there are some lots that are $25,$ 20 but u can get lucky and get into the actual parking lot for the beach. Also a lot of traffic sometimes

Really nice place that was worth the drive. The waves were giant, which I like. Although, I wouldn't recommend it to parents who want to take their little kids there because of the big waves, but I personally love it. My only con is the amount of seaweed (I personally don't like swimming with seaweed). There's a lot of it.

Nice beach. Interesting facilities but well kept. Toilets are on a biodegradable system so don't be alarmed when you go in to find an open hole to nowhere. Its nice to see the beach facilitators taking an extra step to ensure the preservation of the beach itself. For those who don't get it... DON'T FEED THE BIRDS!! They will come at you and your children if your just sitting on the beach enjoying your snack minding your business... I still saw people in the parking lot feeding the birds a leftover bag of whatever... have some sense and just don't do it!! It's not good for them or our safety. Otherwise it was a great time at this beach. Just crowded. Oh and best part is after 4pm parking is free! We got there at 4pm on the dot and there was plenty of parking, no need to pay at the other areas.

Cute beach that's well maintained. Parking was $12.00 for me a non-RI resident, which is too high in my opinion since RI resident is $6.00. There was also free sunscreen dispensers near the restrooms. A word of caution though, since the sunscreen is as thick as oatmeal, and is as tough to wash off as silicone caulk.

Doesn't open until late (9am/10am).. very crowded at times, and very vicious seasgulls there. Since its such a big beach there's loads of those birds and they'll steal your sandwich right out of your hands. Seen it each time I went the past 2 times. Its the nicest right when they open when barely anyone is there but you have to park somewhere else and walk in if its before hours or wait an hour in the parking lot line to be first in. Not bad pricing at all, just very overrated for the area. There's definitely better, less crowded, and less seagull taken over places haha

Far too crowded for me to enjoy. You need to get in very early if you want to establish a decent size spot. We showed up around noon, with 5 adults and a toddler. We saw how crowded it was, and just turned around and left. It's a shame because other than how crowded it gets, it's a nice beach. Large concession stand. They also provide an array of beach equipment to rent. And close enough to walk to town, and other attractions.

I love the beach, but I hate how crowded it gets, not to mention you cant go onto the water without stepping on rocks. Also, keep an eye on your kids in the water because the tide there is strong and so are the wave usually.

Great Time ! Sunshine, live music , free parking, ( plenty of it), no long traffic lines , food, amusment rides vendors selling goods. An open space event right next to the beach. Public restrooms clean and open. They do charge to get into the event but it's well worth it. A very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere !

Huge beach, large parking lots, nice concessions, multiple beach bars, great walking. Huge parking lot can be a hassle to exit if you are there on a hot weekend. Cheap, cheap, cheap parking fares.

As a local I find it best to go after 5 pm in the summer. Parking is free and not as many people. Don't overlook going to the beach during the spring, fall and winter they are also nice seasons to visit.

It was on the ocean and in August it was not crowded and the beach was gorgeous.. But beware.. Beautiful bath house on the outside.. But .. But have no regular toilets it's all indoor port a potties in a restroom.. And if you wanna rinse off or shower in warm water in private stall.. Better have lots and lots of quarters on hand.. Can't take a shower without paying.. Like a dollar a minute

The best sand castle sand and the best waves. $6 to park?? I love this place. when I lived in Connecticut I would drive 2 hours with my girlfriend just to go to misquamicut State Beach. Now that I live in Rhode island it's 30 minutes. Me and my kids go bonkers at that place. Sandcastles as high as I can build them. And I love watching the kids smash them!!

Once a lovely beach, albeit crowded. Now, there's a new crowd, mostly from CT, that doesn't understand the "take your garbage out with you" rule. At the end of the day, there is so much trash on the beach and in the water, you'd think you were in a third-world country.

A great beach! Always nice rollers to body surf. A long sandy beach with bath houses, showers ,a few covered picnic tables and some food choices at the park building. Restaurants nearby and plenty of paid parking. Beach is open after labor day but bathhouse and bathrooms are closed.Cold water outdoor rinse off showers still available.

Beautiful beach.. Visited March 2019. Cold but we were in the area and wanted to see the waves. It was beautiful and there was a little park the kids played at. The park was away from the wind so it wasn't too cold. It was about 50 degrees today, maybe a little less. We spent about 45 minutes here. We didn't have to pay to get in, maybe off season? There was nobody at the gate.

Beach is pretty clean. A lot of parking lots, but you need to arrive early. The water is cold but with big waves for booggy board. Surf board not allowed. Be careful of the seagulls, they steal things. So hide your food well.

I've been going to this beach since i was little. Its my favorite beach, and always has been. I love that there's not only a beach, but also bars and shops that you can walk to. Also, parking at the beach parking lot is actually cheap to park at, however you will need to get there before it opens to get a spot there. I usually get there an hour early and there are already people waiting to get in. Otherwise you will need to park in other lots which can be 20-40 bucks. Which to me, is not worth it. It's a very clean beach and its a beach i will always recommend people go to.

Beach is very rocky, there is not much around—very few restaurants (of poor quality), no gift shops, no boardwalk, etc. The beach staff/park rangers are very rude—one of them accused us of stealing the keys to her ranger cart when we did not, just due to the fact that we were standing near it, and also threatened to call the cops on us. Only later to find that she just misplaced them. Would not recommend, dont waste your time.
