Great plant sale. Healthy plants and helpful staff and volunteers. Great variety selection, veggies, herbs, annuals and more. Gardens are off to a great start. Very sure to stop by this wonderful garden to see it's topiaries, veggies, dahlias, bamboo, hops, figs and so much more.

Nice little topiary garden in Portsmouth, RI. It looked beautiful in May when we visited it. Exhibit of old toys and other artifacts in the house is very nice too. You can visit it for free if you are a member of Newport Mansions Preservation Society.

KAREN NAGBE

We were hoping to visit the grounds only as we did the tour twice, but you need a ticket . its a neat place.

Arley Panes

The green animals reminded me how refreshing it is to be with nature.

Mordechai Hayum

Unique attraction

Shelly Duggan

Amazing gardens and trees. The topiaries are extremely well.done and considering the age of the plants, surprised that it is still all.there. Nice, well manicured grounds, interesting plantings. Did the house tour too but was disappointed that you only see the first floor. Tour guides were very pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable. Even my two boys (20 & 17) found it interesting. Loved the Copper Beech tree!

Alyssa Mazzacco

One of the less known Newport mansions - I think this place is great! Beautiful to walk around. Pack a lunch and spend the afternoon on their beautiful grounds.

sean k

Beautiful Gardens with a lot of history

Gwendolyn Wilbert

Absolutely beautiful gardens. The house itself is relatively small compared to the other estates, but the topiary and flowers more than make up for it.

Beautiful place to spend an afternoon. Bring the family (kids too) and a lunch or snacks and have the bay as your backdrop.

Lucy Kinsley

Always enjoy a trip to Green Animals Topiary Gardens! Beautiful location and wonderful gardens to tour.

Andy Lee

Though probably not to the fault of the workers (they've had some bad weather), you can tell this place used to be a lot more majestic than it currently is. There are some neat topiaries, but also a good amount you have to imagine because of the damage. The staff are all extremely friendly, and we had a good time walking through the grounds. Good place to spend about half an hour.

Aaron Albright

Fernanda Soares

This is a good place to wander outside for a few hours, but probably only in late summer. We went in late May and a lot of the topiaries weren't grown in yet.

As a photographer, this place was heaven. Many types of flowers, plants and interesting colors. I also was able to get some great shots of some of the hummingbirds, butterflies and frogs which make their home throughout the garden. The topiaries weren't that impressive but the garden was great.

John Burnett

Interesting, but not at its finest in mid-August. I'd like to have another look next year, earlier in the season.

Tibby Duke

Perfect place to take some adorable photos! Especially when all the flowes are in bloom.

Kathy McMullen

Very pretty!!

Gregory Marshall

its nice need to go early in season

MaryEllen Costa

Didn't know there was a charge to get in.

While touring this enchanting house and gardens, one feels the love a father had for his children. I am so grateful we selected this sight as one of our visits on the Newport Mansions’ Tour. The staff was very welcoming and informative.

Don Dorchester

Pretty cool place, amazing how they keep up the gardens

Stephanie Coffel

The flowers were nice but the topiaries were not well maintained... for $16 to visit a small garden I would think they would be trimming the topiaries more often. Some you couldn't really tell what they were. Pretty disappointed in the price for what we got.

Bill Paris

James Hicks

Lovely grounds and the staff is so kind and accommodating! Free admission for locals too! Don't miss the surprisingly beautiful vegetable garden! Such a neat time capsule all together!

Pam San

The garden looked good, however for 25 bucks I expected more. Friendly people, though.

craig decker

Beautiful place. Flowers and other plantings are great. Love all the Topiary animals! The house overlooking Narragansett Bay is stunning!

Ravindra Vangipuram

This is located away from all the Newport Mansions and is part of Mansions maintained by Preservation Society of Newport. It had lot of topiaries in the shape of various animals. There is a house as well to check for.

deborah leong

I take visiting friends there. Always an enjoyment to see the gardens and arboury work.

Todd D

Awesome area to see cool designs and flowers/plants. Super friendly staff

Kathleen Fitzgerald

A wonderful experience! I enjoyed seeing all the beautifully sculptured hedges and the lovely Gardens. An impressive 150 year old oak tree stands out front of the topiary. I look forward to returning here.

Jamie Owens

Beautiful place!!!

Stacey Quandt

The tour of the house takes about 15 minutes and the garden takes about 20 minutes. The ticket office sells water and cold drinks. Interesting to see the giraffe, bear and other animals as topiary. Well worth visiting.

Kathy King

Interesting but not worth the trip of you're not in the area. The veggie garden was the highlight! $17 donation. Really? Maybe on the summer???

This was an okay experience for me. The ticket were $20 but I personally felt that they should be free becuase the park was state owned. The park wasn't that big at only, they used the greenery to create sculptures of animals which is why the park has all the buzz. The house in the park was owned by the family who started the park before it was donated to the state. My wife seemed to have liked it but I didn't. Anyway you make like it as well.

Cheryl Knee

Lovely gardens and historic home to tour. I was a bit disappointed in the Topiary.

Karen Li

Very nice veggie and fruit garden. The topiary are a little sad. The house is nice though it doesn't have much on the history of the family. Good place for kids.

Kimberly Miller

Not overly impressed. I was here 15 years ago and the gardens were superb. Not enough lights on in the house so it was hard to see the dollhouses. The miniatures and dioramas that were in lighted cases couldn't be appreciated because the lights in the cases were not turned on and the main lights in the room were off. Very disappointed on this trip.

Adrian Lopez

This is an awesome place to visit with your kids. I love the vegetable section they have!

Matthew Travers

Expensive but nice gardens.

Anna Mendes-OLeary

Loved it! Beautiful gardens and a beautiful setting!

Patricia Kounakowitch

(Translated by Google) Quiet and relaxing. Beautiful garden. (Original) Calme et reposant. Superbe jardin.

Melissa D

Great tour off the typical Newport path. Would recommend going mid to late summer to see the gardens at their best.

David MacIndoe

While not as grand as the other Newport mansions I would say this is the most relaxing of them. The other mansions don't have gardens nearly as nice as these. You also don't have to deal with Newport traffic which is nice since it's outside of town in a more rural, peaceful setting. It was nice just to walk around and roam the grounds. The mansion was nice too and it wasn't so huge as to be overwhelming. I highly recommend coming here! The staff was REALLY nice and I had great conversations with them

Meurcie Redding

This is one of my favorite places to see when I visit Rhode Island. The gardens are meticulously maintained, the variety of plants and flowers is incredible, and the most magnificent Copper Beech I’ve ever seen is on the property. While I haven’t toured the house on site, the gardens are where it’s at for me. Highly recommend!

Sacha Cuevas

Beautiful and peaceful place

Denise Souders

Maxx Lackie

We loved it here!! Historic and fun for sure! Great to see plants that look like stuff, and then to see an old house kept in it's original state. Truly a different and great place.

Maria Gonzalez

Bruce Novicky

So cool! Worth spending some time here add it to the list.

Yossi Berkowitz

The trees don't look anything like the pictures portray them to look, we were very very disappointed

Lis Foster

Dennis Coursen

This garden has history behind the scenes. The gardens are beautiful. The. Topiary green animal's are created and taken care of. The people put love into their labor. The preservation society do a great job.

Stephen Chan

Good for kids. Be sure to visit the museum

Anand Sunderraman

Good for a one time visit. Kids will love this place.

Sandip Ray

I would definitely recommend! If you have plans to visit the mansions this garden stands out to be a complete different flavor! I would suggest to keep it in second day of the itinerary so that you get a change of taste. Also inside the house there is remarkable collection of dolls and doll house and old age toys. Some of my pics here shows inside the doll house which you wont believe unless you see them in person!

Michelle N

Small but well maintained gardens and home. Great place to relax on the porch in a rocking chair to enjoy beautiful views of the water. You'll find a Gigantic tree is a great picture spot.

Calebe Geazi Maciel

Pretty cool...

Tabrej Mahmud

I like the place but i can say the place is not well maintained and not so impressive.

Craig Gaffney

Matthew Liptak

This place is pretty cool and is part of the Newport Preservation Society Mansions. However keep in mind, this is nowhere near Bellevue Ave and the rest of the Newport Mansions and is about 30 minutes outside Newport on a long winding desolate road in Portsmouth. The house that sits on the property is not the main focal point of this tour since its pretty much an ordinary large farmhouse. The grounds it sits on are massive and overlook an bay inlet on top of a hill. The gardens in this place are unreal and contain not only topiary shaped figures but there are tons of plants, flowers and even a vegetable and fruit garden. The place is manicured to perfection and well taken care of. This is a decent place out of any of the mansions to take kids, however be prepared for the hike out of town to visit this place, about 15-20 miles away from downtown Newport.

Tricia Baker Schmitt

Ok. Not everything in bloom when we visited. The dollhouse and toys on second floor in the house was pretty amazing. Go in late May for more photo ops

Lisa Hesser

Quaint little place, lovely grounds and a nice view

Khushboo Patel

Summer was harsh to the plants. Bit it's a great place to relax abd enjoy creativity

Anthony Lopez

Visit if you're a fan of beautiful plants and gardens. It's not huge, but there is a large variety and number of plants and nice animal shaped bushes. The various plants have nametags so you know their name. Check it out along with exploring the inside of the old house.

mark grabowski

Susan Souza

Nice stroll, and views. Much more greenery and flowering in season. Pretty area.

Susan Perti

Green Animals is the place to be! Perfect day too. Try to time your day to tour the main house. Tours are 3x daily. Wonderful topiaries, lovely succulent plants, tomatoes, quaint gift shop. Walk along the water and enjoy the sprawling grounds. Perfect day for all ages.

Benjamin Cochran

Really cool place to check out. Get the pass and come see the gardens. We really enjoyed it.

Keith Morgan

Amer Alsamman

Beautiful scenery Unfortunately was closed due to season, however, we were able to walk in the area and enjoy scenery, we will come later when it opens

Joan Rotramel

Great lawn, the house is not the main attraction, so don't expect a lot, but the grounds are worth it.

Linda Fahy

Great place!! The green animals are fantastic!! The staff is friendly and helpful. They picnic tables so you can bring your lunch.
