No crowds, water warm..
I love the speed so much it's so perfect especially when you get down there early the water is clear just before the seaweed becomes.
Water had a lot of seaweed...kids wouldn't go in and got bored so we left after a few hours.
Another beautiful Rhode Island beach. Great spot for a scenic off-season walk. Lots of free parking off season. Clean sand, beautiful views, wonderful ocean air.
Since they didn't have enough pop parking and my car was towed it kinda sucked!
Great facilities and a long, beautiful beach. Wish the weather had been more cooperative.
Beautiful day at a beautiful beach with my beautiful family!!!!
It was awesome and a great beach
One of our favorite beaches. Great for the kids. Seaweed can be an issue, but such is life at the Ocean. Overall, great spot.
Great beach. Difficult to get in.
This quaint Rhode Island beach was perfect for a small sibling gathering with children. The water and beach were both clean, and the entire environment was safe. I was not worried about my girls walking around, or my vehicle safety. It was not crowded the day we went. There was a beautiful beach house with restrooms. I believe their was also a snack she'd to purchase food items, but not 100% sure. Well worth the visit for a quiet day on the beach.
Nice flat beach
Fabulous day, beautiful beach.
Nice waves, clean Beach.
Clean beach with nice bathhouses! Great selection at the snack bar. Beautiful surf and clean beach make East Matunuck a gem in RI.
Big waves. Need another facility
Beautiful! We went later in the evening. And we really enjoyed it. Very nice beach!
Love this beach as it is clean, beach goers follow the rules and staff is very friendly. I MUST add that I am a lifeguard instructor and enjoy watching the drills for: missing swimmer, active/passive rescues. I also think it’s great to watch these LG’s practice dry land skills in front of all. Kudos to the lifeguards and staff alike. Nice job!
Short walk to the shoreline but very nice. Longer walk to view of galilee, And breaker wall great time. 15mins from Scarborough.
Beautiful beach, love the amenities.
Clean beach clean water we were only there briefly but enjoyed our time there.
Great beach.off bus line!!! Food people.
Typical Rhode island State Beach, some sand some rock. Okay parking if you get there before 9:30, but it's pretty well packed solid on the beach by about 10am. The drive down route 1 is nice on a summer day!
Great beach and nice bath house.
$12 for out of state parking. The beach is clean and beautiful. Staff is friendly and lifeguards are attentive. The waves were huge when we went. My children have never been to a beach like that so my anxiety was high. After a few huge knock downs they opted to leave to go back to the campground lake. All in all it’s beautiful but you must be an advanced swimmer. Caution to parents with little kids.
Great for families. Shallow beach so I could give my 4yo so wiggle room comfortably. Just get there early during high season.
Love my entire day there with friends. Esp. That little dory,Johnny Utah...Iive in Moab..
New facilities, easy parking
There are nicer beaches nearby.
We love the fact that it is clean, not crowded and not to far, pavilion and restaurants right there.
Beautiful, especially when there is no red tide.
Beautiful to walk on!
Great for little kids.
Love this beach! Been coming here since I was a kid!
Beautiful views and beach experience for all.
Very nice beach. Great sand, clean. Has waves that the children enjoy but not so big that as a parent I worry.
Great clean beach
Amazing day with amazing views and an amazing person
The day we were the was a little rough, windy and chilly, but the beach, though Rocky by the shore, was very nice. The concessions were very good.
My favorite beach, It is not rocky, big parking lot, new pavilion with solar and wind power. Also near several restaurants - Matunuck Oyster Bar, Jim's Dock and Captain Jack's.
great beach awesome for kids too .... very rocky tho
I love this place for fishing
Lovely beach. A bit rocky but still very pretty
Beautiful, clean water.
Great experience. Less crowded than Narragansett town beach. The two issues I had we're parking and dealing with the daily beach goers. The daily people have specific rituals about parking and which spots they get. The line getting into the lot before getting to the actual lot sometimes blocks the road and can be a hazard to both people driving by and people waiting to get on the beach.
Excellent beach. Very clean and alot of amenities during the open season.
My favorite RI beach, more family oriented compared to Scarborough and Misquamicut.
Real nice beach. Water looks pretty clear. Sand is soft. Everyone here is respectful. One of better beaches in R.I.
Tidy beach, clean bathrooms, and good waves for boogie boarding. Get here early for parking.
Great beach. Not a lot of seaweed and decent waves
My favorite beach. I love to walk the breaker wall
Visited out of season, so hard to truly rate. But very nice.
Fun little kids beach. Low waves and a shallow spot are ideal. Perfect for sand Castles and water delights!
My go to beach. Love it
Great beach. Childhood memories gone full circle
Nice beach bit a little Rocky in places. Not the best amenities.
Very nice and clean
My favorite beach in Rhode Island. Lots of parking, the facilities are new and in excellent shape, there aren't any rocks, and seaweed always seems to be at a minimum.
My serenity spot
Big parking lot, beach is a bit rocky.
Beautiful beach, lots of parking
Facilities are nice. Parking lot fills up fast. This particular day was very crowded and really seaweedy.
This has always been my favorite beach. Not fancy but to me a great spot. Can't wait to be there again. Many memories were coming to mind as I sat on the shore. Simple is always better, when you're an ocean person.
Best beach in the state!! Clean, great waves, hardly any seaweed!!
Narrow cozy whitesand strip with a moderate wind and waves suitable for kids and families. Great boogieboarding! Having an ample parking very close to the beach also helps.
Great beach and great waves. Keep an eye on the very small children.
It was a great night to walk on the beach.
Lovely state beach. Easily accessible for those with mobility disabilities. Large Parking lot. Carry on- carry off garbage. No trash cans so bring something to carry your trash out.
Nice beach. Not crowded. Good waves. Hot, tan lifeguard.
I love it here its beautiful and were i grew up!
One of my favs! Great sand, lots of space and the snack bar is far superior than your average. Worth the trip!
good park lots of public utility and nice beaches in the area
Great day at the beach with family! Very clean beach.
Beautiful beach and the facilities are amazingly clean.
Love this beach. Clean, nice facilities.
My favorite beach. Large, peaceful and room to to spread out with larger parties. Always clean and fun
I recommend coming in the morning at like 8 there’s secret trails I know so you can get on the beach even earlier then the time it opens
Beautiful beach. The beach and restrooms are always clean. The waves don't get so big that you are afraid to go swimming like at Misquamicut. There is a also no sharp dips making it difficult to navigate in and out of the water. This is a beach where families go. The staff is always paying attention and don't hesitate to announce their rules. We have never bought food at the concession stand, but it looks and smells good. It is very expensive though. We like packing a cooler with our food and water. The only thing that we do like that this beach is lacking, is the option for a picnic table and a place to grill. Get here early for a good parking spot. There are beaches that are closer, but this is worth the extra distance.
At my aunt's house adjacent to the State Beach
Very clean and beautiful beach
Nice beach but before you get to sand there is a lot of Sandy rocks, but when you pass the rock, there is nice Sandy Beach. Today, there was a lot of seaweed, which was not that great. Great beach to walk, it was not to crowded
A few too many stones where you would expect sand, it made the walk down to the water tricky but not terrible since the rocks are all round. No seaweed the day we were there and the sand at the water is super smooth. I love RI beaches, they all have amazing bath houses, super clean.
Nice clean area. No seaweed. Ample parking.
Nice beach
Beautiful Beach! So far the nicest beach I have visited in the north east. Its very clean, good sand. Nice waves, not too small or too large. Had so much fun!
Great beach, I go there every year with my family, and it always is fun to go to! The only downside is all of the sea weed..
Beautiful Beach! If you're looking for a calm and quiet day at the beach this is the spot! Families enjoying the sun, surf and one another. This is a clean beach and very well respected by patrons.
My secret to a wonderful get-away. Beach beautiful. Great to walk and not super crowded. Casual restaurants nearby for a quick bite after the beach. Snack bar open on the pavilion. Parking plentiful. Come early for a great day.
Some of the best beach New England has to offer. In light traffic (go early), you're there in 35-40 minutes from Providence. Parking's cheaper on weekdays and for RI plates. Great snack shack in season. Great deck with picnic tables. Decent bathrooms, changing stations for baby. Outdoor showers. Gets a bit crowded in the middle, near the food and the deck/bathrooms. Just walk down a bit. To the left, if you're facing the water, is best, imo. Bring a full cooler, a blanket and a couple of umbrellas and make a day of it.
Lots of space, comparitively warm water, clean, restrooms, showers, and not much seaweed. My favorite beach in Rhode Island without question!
Great flavor assortment, plus hot fudge and a brownie. Simply awesome.
Beautiful and clean. Just be mindful when you bring your children. The water can be a bit rough.
The food was fantastic
My favorite beach
Long line so arrive early. Nice snack bar and bathrooms. Different rates for non resident passes during the week vs weekend. Said on signs they accept credit cards but then get to the entry booth and the attendant thought we were nuts, so bring cash. Oh and resident passes aren't sold on the weekend either FYI
An absolutely Beautiful Day
Very Clean and not overcrowded!
Cheapest private beach experience.
Great beach, get there early parking lot gets full quick then its one in and one out but usually a great time some good surf action when the wind is right, snack bar and nice bathrooms complete a great beach day for the masses! Weekend is currently at $14 non resident $12 weekday non resident. Have a great time people!
Needs more traffic control, pedestrians walking in the middle of the road with no regard for traffic. Tourists everywhere leaving garbage and driving drunk coming from the ocean mist
Lov3 this beach .... One of rhode island's at its best
Nice clean beach.
Beautiful. Family setting. Very clean Beach
Beautiful beach!! Great for young kids
Fantastic beach, be sure to get there early during the summer, we arrived 1 hour after opening and the parking lot was full. Luckily there are a few places nearby that offer paid parking.
Went just around sunset and it was beautiful! VERY CLEAN! Nice facilities and even a clean parking lot and portable toilets! Cant wait to return for a nice sunny fun filled day at the beach!
Best beach wver
Such a quiet beach in the evening, I was able to clear my mind while walking along the shore. It wasnt loud and overwhelming like other beaches. It was also clean. '
On a clear day you can see Block Island and it has lifeguards.
Best beach! Period. Get there early 9am or late after 1pm.
My favorite of the Rhode Island state beaches. Beautiful clean beach and the facilities are run on solar and wind power. Take a walk down to the jetty and watch the boats coming and going from Gallilee. Bring your fishing pole!
Beautiful sandy beach! The water is clean and it's not too cold! Nice waves too! You can enjoy watching the Block Island ferry come and go from the rocks.
Nice quiet beach with good bathrooms
Beautiful state beach, perfect for families. Excellent amenities and immaculately maintained.
A nice place to go on walks.
My beach for 28 years!! Lifeguards are BEYOND phenomenal, totally attentive, and I am adding BEAUTIFUL!! I've witnessed several rescues, my daughters and a friend carried off by a riptide. I ran first and the lifeguard that I was talking to followed immediately and saved everyone! I avoid it now due to crazy overcrowding, and people not knowing beach ettiquite. Rocks, seaweed, yet it's in my heart! Btw, my husband's company did all of the gorgeous glass concrete for the pavilion!
Clean and pretty
Lots of seaweed but otherwise beautiful day
Clean, and beautiful, worth the drive out. Don't forget money for parking. When we went it was $14.
Nice beach but a little rocky
Great beach, very clean and the sand is soft and clean. The bathrooms are very clean and in great shape. They offer shower in the bathrooms but you have to pay with quarters. They also have free water sprayers outside that you can use to wash the salt from the beach. The rocks are beautiful to take pictures and the beach itself is just great. Nice waves and good looking sand dunes. I went at 4pm and the parking was free which was great. Regularly the parking is $7 for RI during the week, in addition parking lot is huge.
Nice family beach, clean, water is great for swimmers and children
Never had a bad experience here, while as a child and adult. Water is always nice , beach is clean and everyone is respectful . Perfect spot to bring the family on a hot day. just make sure you get there early enough to get a good spot on the beach and parking as it does get packed
Good surf, clean beach , family time.
Our first day at the beach and it was fantastic! The beach was nicely manicured and though it was a bit windy, super gorgeous day! Our favorite beach to swim at during the summer.
Great beach! It's a smaller state beach, which makes it quaint and really quiet. Parking is a nightmare so go very early or after 2pm.
Nice place to go for families friends or alone
Great vacation stop!
It's an awesome beach ,you can walk to the jetty and watch the BlockIsland ferry head out . But I wouldn't go in the summer , but I have other options ! They swipe the beach clean every morning, so if your into seagrass don't bother looking along the shore .
Great spot unless red seaweed fills the water.
The private end of the beach is the best area.
My favorite R.I. beach! Not too crowded, beautiful, nice waves and Sandy Beach.... Love to just walk the soft beach looking for anything interesting or reading while listening to the ocean.
Great beach. A little rocky but less crowded than other state beaches
Beautiful day . Water looks amazing
Good crowd. Easy access.
Beautify sunset <3
The only thing is they could use more readily accessible trash cans in the parking lot or near the entrances to the beach. Amazing place regardless
Best beach ever
Great day facilities, ample parking, diverse snack bar, fun waves that are manageable for kids
Very easy access points to the beach from parking areas. Very comfortable not overcrowded and clean beach. Only con is sand is loaded with broken seashells and rocks.
Love it. Just wish it wasn't always full at 8am with folks from CT and NY. I really wish they would consider making some RI beaches RI residents only.
The water is full of seaweed and not fun. But overall the sand is also very rocky and not sandy. It's nice to go but if you want to tan not recommended
Best waves when high tide is coming in. Hand down!
NICE and ✌ full not over crowded just right.
Nice beach with great waves and coastline. Modern facilities. Only descrepany is occasional excessive seaweed.
My parents used to bring my sisters & I as kids and I'm grateful to keep the tradition alive. Great family beach
Very nice beach
Clean beach and bathrooms. Not too crowded. Will return❤
Still my favourite beach in all of Rhode Island. Where I spent all my summers as a kid and they keep improving the pavilion and facilities. Just keeps getting better.
Nice beach for a summer hangout
The best beach in the Ocean State, in this reviewer's humble opinion. Unfortunately, many others have come to the same conclusion in the past two years and what used to be a semi crowded beach during the summer is now a packed beach (even beyond the weekends). If you're a body surfer, this is the RI beach you're looking for. Many days the water is placid with small 1–2-foot waves, but when it's good it's really good. Though unfortunately no longer a best-kept secret, East Matunuck is still the best beach in New England. And unlike Cape Cod, there are no sharks. (The fifth star is for the great lifeguards, wonderful facilities, and the use renewable energy [wind and solar! With EV charging stations!])
Beautiful park. Cost $12 out of state tag. Great bathrooms. Rocky beach but easy to avoid
lifeguards are incredible. All worked together and saved someone.today
Many fond memories for me at this beach. Get there early around the summer holidays, or you'll miss out.
Nice, long, guarded beach, with facilities, free sunscreen, and good food. Highly recommended.
Parking is really bad, you need off road track to drive on this dirty, non pavement parking lot, non toilets or garbage cans on on the end of this huge parking lot, so surprising people leaving trash on the ground and use bushes as toilet
Beautiful day at the beach
Get there early! Fills up quickly
