This was our first time here. Our 2 year old loved it! There were plenty of touch tanks and neat fish to look at. It was a great way to burn some energy on a rainy day with a toddler. We will definitely be back! $11 for adults 2 and under are free. Staff were super friendly as well and they do presentations about different animals through the day
Great place to bring the kids to see and learn a little bit about aquatic life
Fun place to bring the kids or an exciting date that's out of the ordinary.
Small fun place for kids
I was a little disappointed to drive all the way up to South county to walk into a place that just seemed like a giant aquarium. The workers were very informative. And it was nice to be able to show my daughter what all the local fish and Marine life looked like and have the information displayed to explain it to her. But after asking around, we weren't the only ones kind of mislead by everyone's photos on Facebook. However, we did make the best of and enjoy the time we spent there.
I went here for the 1st time today with 2 of my granddaughters, 4 &7. They loved it. There are alot of tanks with all types of New England sea life. Several exhibits are "tough tanks" including small sharks. The kids enjoyed the play area and there is a reading area as well. We loved watching Darwin, a 20 year old tortoise, being fed leafy greens. Oh, extremely affordable!
A great hidden gem in Rhode Island. We took my 2 year old son and he loved seeing the different marine life, and still talks about how he got to touch sharks and other creatures. Highly recommended for kids to get an up close experience with ocean animals.
Love this place. Great for kids and adults
Great hands-on place with unique and rare fish collection.
Have been numerous times with the grand kids, great for bad weather days!
Fun for the family
Great for kids of all ages.
This is like a classroom with Fish Tanks and pools. It is not an aquarium at all, in my opinion. My daughter was 2 so she was impressed, but for older children they will definitely be unimpressed. You can touch some of animals but it is a small place. Do not get misguided by the description. You sre better off going to the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut Off exit 90 on the I-95
Very interactive place for you and your kids. Lots of touch opportunity and hands-on teaching involved. When I was younger I used to be so excited to come here and still am. The place is very expensive though so it's good to go once in a while.
Cute place on a rainy day and very interactive
It may be small but interesting the grandkids love the touch tanks .their ages are 7 and 10
Very knowledgeable staff!!
My family and I had a blast! The facility was much bigger than we thought. There was interaction and live feeding which was very exciting! A must if you love to learn and explore.
This was a great place to bring small children. Their is plenty to explore and it's very hands on.
Visited for a birthday party with my 7 year old. He really enjoyed feeding the sharks and hearing all about the different fish from the knowledgeable staff member who gave them a tour. We are planning to come back again with his younger sibling.
My family has visited here several times, and we've always enjoyed checking out all of the many tanks of awesome creatures, including many local species. I think this gives the kids a greater appreciation for the local environments.
Great place. Will be coming back
Lots of hands on activities for the kids.
Great small aquarium to bring kids from 2 to 12.
Nice, albiet small, private aquarium. Rhode Island centric wildlife plus some global animals too.
Great time for the family. Prices aren't too bad.
Our daughter loves this place! The staff is great here also!
Love this place! Very interesting sea life! Fun, educational and they take creatures that are need of rescue and release them if they are able. I have been bringing my daughter here for years...great atmosphere for kids of all ages!
This place was really awesome. I've been to some big aquariums before with dolphin shows and all that, but this place is very different. They have probably 100 tanks of various fish and aquatic creatures, most of them can be found in the local waters. There were several tanks where you could touch the fish, skates, sharks, and crabs. You can pick up urchins, stars, and hermit crabs. My kids got to feed the horseshoe crabs at 3pm. Additionally, this is a great place to bring the kids. There were several tables indoors suitable for a picnic lunch, and there was also a play area for smaller kids with some toddler toys. There were sinks for hand washing after touching the creatures, and of course restrooms. I paid $58 for two adults and four kids, so at that price the $100 membership looks attractive if I were local. Great place to beat the heat in the summer or the cabin fever in the winter!
Great place to take your kids
Great place to visit with the little ones!
Kids love it.
Amazing facility. Wonderful and attentive staff. Animals are rescues and taken care of. We had a great time. This was our first visit and we will definitely be back!
My two-year old granddaughter loved it (well, everything but the giant tortoise)! Will bring her again!
Cool place and very educational. They offer a wide variety of fish and other animals. Workers were friendly and animals seemed happy and healthy.
This was a fantastic place to spend a rainy vacation day. My 3 year old loved it. Very hands on, there were toys and games for him to interact with and the perfect size for him to see all the different species here. It was also very interesting for the adults to read all the info and see just how diverse the ocean is with all the creatures. Well worth the money and time spent here.
We are used to the big aquariums Baltimore, Camden, Boston, and Norwalk. When we drove up, I was skeptical, but left very impressed. The kids loved the exhibits, alot of Animals to pet, and huge petting tanks. Very small, but would highly recommend. We spent an hour and a half here. Gotta see the puffer demonstration. Amazing.
Great place with lots of fun learning!
Next song place to visit. A must-see at least twice a year. Parking is free and rather plentiful unless it's a really busy.. They have many tanks with exotic fishes and also tanks where you can touch the specimens train the staff is nice and the place is pretty well run
Fun for the kids! Some of tanks needed cleaning
Friendly staff, educational, cool fish u can touch
Great place to bring little ones to check out. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Awesome for a small aquarium like this, it is also good for all ages. You can even touch sharks!!!!
We had a field trip there with my daughter and it was good for a 1st grade. They had a great time and it was really easy to take care of the kids.
This place was great, we took my 4 yr old niece and she loved it... and honestly I think my wife and I enjoyed it more. It was really interesting and interactive....
Unique hands on experience with marine life. Great for kids and adults but you may get wet.
Biomes is great,, the kids learn so much about OUR LOCAL Waters,,, well worth the yearly membership pass
We have been going for years now. It never gets old and the children love how interactive and educational. Absolutely love biomes.
Super cheap and if you're team instinct in Pokemon go you get $2 off admission. Staff was really friendly. There were plenty of touch tanks and lots to see. I will definitely be going back soon!
Very fun place for a rainy day. Cheap and exciting, even for adults!
I was disappointed when we drove up because we live in Connecticut and when I think aquarium I think of Mystic, which is an enormous campus with ACTUAL WHALES, but if you think of it as a "Marine biology center" instead, it's really good for what it is (and much cheaper than Mystic, unless you're a member). The touch tanks are very low so very accessible to littles (and I would imagine for people in wheelchairs, also) and while most of the tanks are small home-sized tanks and not a huge draw for kids who jump from the most exciting thing to the most exciting thing, being able to feed a horseshoe crab, hold a sea urchin, and pet two different kinds of sharks plus skates and a turtle and a tortoise and snails and SO ON was PLENTY of entertainment. We were there about two hours with a four-year-old and honestly we got bored before he did. If you, too, have an animal-obsessed child, this is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon.
Cheap and very kid-oriented. Staff is entertaining, knowledgeable, and accomdating to families. Not as fancy as higher-priced aquariums, but that is part of the charm/experience. I like how local wildlife is highlighted and presented in a interesting and engaging way. Interactive and informative demonstrations every 30 mins!
My son always wants to look at the fish when we go to Walmart so for his Birthday I figured I would look for an aquarium. I had never been to Biomes before and thought this would be a good introduction for him. I was right. He loved it. There were plenty of displays as well as activities. I would definitely recommend this aquarium.
Great place for little kid and big "kids" with a great variety of specimens and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Fee is quite reasonable.
Great place to take the kids to see and learn about all kinds of local marine wildlife. The petting exhibits in particular are great fun and the staff was friendly and interactive.
Very nice aquarium!! Has a large variety of fish that I had never seen before! Went with my grandparents and it is a great way to spend a few hours! It looks a little small on the outside but once you go in you will see a lot of marine life!! Would give 5 stars but it's only open for like 4-5 hours a day. I recommend you go to Biomes because you will have an awesome time!
Can't love this place enough! Fun for kids and adults!
This place is amazing! I had attended a couple kids' birthday parties there(which were great) and decided to buy an annual membership. We've probably been there 2 dozen times this year already. You can spend a couple hours there or just drop in for 30 minutes on a rainy day. The kids never get tired of it. The collection of sea life is really amazing and the staff obviously has a love of education as well as the local environment. There are regular demonstrations and everything is very hands-on. My 2 year old loves it as much as my 6 year old. I'd say it's a great fit for any age. They also have a large section set up with crafts and other activities including an enclosed area for the younger kids. I cannot recommend this place enough. The regular pricing is reasonable and the membership is a steal!
Great place. Lots of stuff for kids and the staff are very friendly
My family loves going here! Super friendly staff and all of the exhibits are well cared for. The puffer fish show is the best!!
Small place but great to let the kids roam and be safe
Nice place for kids to learn about marine life. Worth the trip for the little ones.
Cool place for kids, lots of tanks with interesting fish etc.
Staff is great and very knowledgeable .watch the feedings of any of the exhibits. Clean and kids friendly
Small but lots of interactions for kids.
Large room full of different fish, turtles, sharks, crabs, horse shoe crabs, eels...Most you can touch. Some you can't. Very hands on. Great for all ages. I loved petting the baby sharks. They do aquatic animal demonstrations every hour and that's very informative. If you have a large fish tank you no longer want, donate it here. They'll put more creatures in it and that's awesome
Great fun for all ages! They even allow children to assist in feeding times!
Super cute have to keep an eye on the little ones and what tank there putting there little fingers in but once I attended once my kid understood the rules for the following visit and it is always enjoyable!
Not an aquarium. Its a building full of fish tanks. Waste of 22 dollars! Itd probably be cool for kids, who can pet A FEW sharks, but thats the extent of the fun. Save your money
Great for kids! can pet the fishes too
Excellent for birthday parties! Kids get 2 hours to exore and even touch and feed the marine life. Learn about local and tropical fish, the beaches of our state and the life in them, and even about some reptiles! Great for all ages, kid to teen to adult.
Great fun and educational field trip
Fun for kids and adults alike!
The staff are all very nice, very knowledgeable and very passionate about what they do. You can feel they are enthusiastic about marine life and sharing that knowledge with their guests. The exhibits are all very interesting but the touch tanks really steal the show, especially if you have kids (even adult sized children). If you do have kids, make sure you bring an extra shirt, because they will be saturated by the time you leave.
What a fun place! It's small but it has so many different fish with lots of pet tanks Fun group activities and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. My three year old learned things as did I. Thanks for a great afternoon!
this aquarium looks small from outside, but they have nice aquarium tanks with little sharks, sting rays, crustaceans all that you could touch. well organized and maintained. tons of varieties of different fish to see probably over 100 tanks at least. there are large turtles, striped bass, crab, sea robins and too many things to list here. fun place for kids and a little gift shop too. i like going here with my kids
Kids really enjoyed feeding different types of animals . Very interesting and learning experience for all , adults and kids !!
Took my 1.5 yr old nephew. He really had fun playing and touching the animals. Good place to go and see.
There are so many different types of fish it is great I seen fish that I never seen before I loved looking at the sea horses that are so cool and the staff is great to .I will go there again
Cute for kids
A great place to go!! Weather your a kid or adult fun to go and learn
12 yr old triplets loved it! So many hands on experiences!
Great place to take kids.
Love Biomes! My daughter can spend all day here!
Went to a birthday party here this past weekend and it was great! Joel was our tour guide: friendly, patient, and full of facts! Definitely recommend this for kids parties
Not what I expected. But a very cool experience. Loved being able to touch some of the exhibits. The sharks were so cool.
Great experience! Definitely glad we visited!
Very cool, the kids love it. There was a lot more to look at than I expected. They demonstrated a puffer fish and the kids loved it.
This is a wonderful place! I went with my 18yr old and 2yr old and they both loved it. The little guy will enjoy it even more when he gets a little bigger. They have a great play area for smaller kids. I love that there are interactive displays where you can touch some of the sea creatures! This is a great place to teach your kids (and yourself) about our ecosystem and responsibility.
Very cool place children would have a great experience
It was really cool! The touch tanks are great and the staff was very nice especially the woman doing the feedings! Perfect for an afternoon outing!
Very educational and a great experience! The pufferfish demonstration was the best!
Interesting place and was able to pet the fish. 11$ entry fee.
Hands-on, smaller aquarium. Lots for kids to do. Multiple touch tanks, demonstrations, and a play area. Good for kids of all ages. Also, good for field trips and birthday parties. I only wish they opened in the morning.
Fun place to bring the kids. We all learned a lot about fish and had some cool interactions with some sharks. My kids loved it and so did I. Not expensive either.
Great place with lots of fun learning!Wonderful small aquarium with a diverse collection, some interactive tanks, and supplemental educational activities.Awesome store. Amazing staff and selection.
Awesome store. Amazing staff and selection.
Aquariumish. Lots of tanks, some of them are petting tanks. Play area for kids. We spent a few hours here before heading to the airport. I wouldn't go out of my way for this one. Kind of like a glorified pet smart without cats.
What a great place to bring the kids! Or not. Either way it's a nice way to spend a couple of hours. You can touch sharks and skates. Very reasonably priced. We're sure to go again!
Small but the kids always enjoy it. Reasonably priced and interesting . its a great way to spend 3 or 4 hours
Love this place! Got to see so many animals up close, even got to pet some!
Brought my 5 year old granddaughter we had a great time. You gotta see the puffer fish demo. Touch tanks are awesome.
This place is amazing educational, fun, exciting, everything you could ask for
Just really cool marine life nice and friendly staff
Nice suprise. The building doesn't look that big on the outside, but holds quite a bit. I took my boys and we were there for two hours.
Kids love this place!
Great little place. The staff was fun and helpful. It was nice bigger than I expected. It's got a lot of great interactive tanks and lots of great stuff to look at.
Great family fun....wonderful staff....educational and entertaining. I pet a stingray! And a mermaid purse!
Biomes is a great stop for young kids. The exhibits are very interactive and the play area for toddlers is a nice way to end the trip.
The kids loved it, in fact the adults had a blast too. Highly recommended if you're in the area
Our 20-month old loved looking at the marine life and playing in the play area (not so much the opportunity to touch creatures, of which there are plenty). She also enjoyed the numerous hands-on activities scattered throughout the complex. A solid bet for kids of all ages.
The kids loved being able to touch the sharks and other sea creatures. Well worth the time and money.
Wasn't bad. I have a love for aquatic life and this wasn't bad beginners guide. Not a very long stay but while your there, it's fun.
This was such a cool place! We loved the petting tanks and the play area. Definitely a great place to come on a hot or rainy day!
My kids love being able to touch everything, especially the horseshoe crabs. Very informative, very fun.
Awsome place. Nice fish. And kids play area
Fun place for the kids
Amazing place, get ready to have some fun and learn something at the same time.
Interesting place!
Beautiful displays. alot of exhibits. Alot of hands on learning really taught my son alot. Warning he wint stop talking about starfish he loves it so much and so did me and my wife. Wonderful place all togethere. Helpful employees that have real passion about what they do and alot of information to prove it.
Great place for little ones, my son is 11 and he enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly & you can tell the the animals are well cared for. It's small and most of the exhibits are simply small fish tanks but the touch pools are enjoyable and without the huge crowds my son was able to spend as much time as he wanted by them.
Umm awesome I always bug my dad to go I love animals and I always wanna go!!
Small center great for toddlers and preschool kids with a lot of touch tanks. Small kids can be entertained for a few hours where older children may get bored easily. Good prices for an afternoon visit versus going to the big aquariums.
This place is awesome! My son loves to come here. It's a perfect place to bring children for a couple of hours and for the price, it's totally worth it!
I’ve worked at two aquariums and brought a friend who also works at a different aquarium. Facts on info cards were incorrect often. The tanks are SO dirty, could use a siphon and scrub immediately. Schooling fish in tanks alone. They forced a pufferfish to puff up and took it out of the water to show people. We were both made extremely uncomfortable by the lack of ethics in this aquarium as we both know firsthand what good husbandry looks like. Will NEVER go back.
My son and his friend had so much fun there they take every half hour they have feeding time and allow the kids to feed the fish there and it's so much to see
Very cool and interesting some tanks you can touch or pet the marine animals a good learning experience
Had a blast here! Super fun and educational for the kiddos. They had almost as much fun as I did.
My kids loved all the hands on features!
Very friendly staff
After having the impression that this was an aquarium, & pulling up to seeing it quite smaller than I imagined.. I'm not gonna lie, I was a bit sceptical, but all that changed when I walked in the door. This is a great place to stop by and do something fun with the kids for an hour or two but still have the day. The whole place is super hands on and that alone sold me, my girls loved it. The staff is really friendly and well educated. They have a small section for kids to play in, & it seems as if they might have summer classes or something of the sort there. They also have a cute little gift shop area with decently priced little Nick nacks and handmade items. I will definitely be taking my family back.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating cool to see all the different types of fish there
The perfect place for kids to spend a few hours. Spent a rainy vacation day here. Parking lot was nearly full, but inside it was still easy to view the exhibits and it wasn't too nutty.
The birthday parties are well organized and they do an awesome job explaining the animals to the kids. You cant open presents here which is a tad inconvenient. Overall super easy and fun for the kids. Normal days arnt as organized and on super hot or rainy days it can be chaotic but it's still a favorite of ours
What a wonderful day spent at the Biomes. Our grandchildren had a blast, we all learned so much. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
From the outside it doesn't look like much, but it's great fun! Tanks of interesting local and more tropical fish. Turtles, frogs, etc. Touch tanks to pet the sharks and skates. You could easily spend a couple hours.
Great place to take kids
My family and I have been to the Biomes two times so far. It is always such a great time you get to pet the sea creatures and learn about them. And this past time we saw a puffer fish demonstration, just a really neat place.
A great place to take kids, especially on a rainy day. One of our favorite spots!
Always an great time. Decent prices, gift shop is full of surprises.....
Really cool marine biology center. All animals are either rescues or found locally. There is plenty of information by each tank to learn not only about the species but the local beaches. There are a bunch of hands on displays and a kids play area. The building and exhibit are stroller friendly.
Awesome place. Great for the kids who like to do some hand touching. Also fun to scavenger hunt for things
Wonderful small aquarium with a diverse collection, some interactive tanks, and supplemental educational activities.
It's small and limited with small fish tanks that seem to small for their inhabitants. But the touch areas are fun for the kids and they try their best by holding demonstrations every thirty minutes. It's pricey for what it is.
This place was great with all the hands-on tanks. The staff is really helpful and we purchased a membership. There is a toddler area, picnic tables so you can pack a lunch! So much for the kiddos to do and to learn. Every 30minutes they have some kind of presentation or activity it is really a nice and chill place to spend the day. The staff is knowledgeable and the environment is relaxed. I love it and so glad we stopped by for the longest time I wondered what the building was. It is a really special gem! My 2yr old had the best time! I also feel like it is a safe place to visit year round because they have a sink area to keep your hands clean and the tanks are well kept so plan to visit even during flu season when we usually avoid places like museums and indoor playgrounds....this place seems like it would be a safe place to bring the kids.
Best field trip. My 5th graders had the best time. The staff was awesome. I would recommend this place to all who have the opportunity.
Great for kids of all ages
Really cool place with lots of cool exhibits. Fun place for kids and anyone else interested in marine biology. Would definitely come back here again!
Great place for the whole family! Great demonstrations. Went on a busy day, but there are so many exhibits to see. Gift shop was reasonably priced so the kids left with something!
Went there for a birthday party for my son and he had an amazing time! Definitely going again!
Great place to take the grandchildren
Great place to take the kids. There is a demonstration or feeding every half hour and many are interactive. The kids get to help feed the fish, horseshoe crabs, etc. Lots of touch tanks. I highly recommend. Would go back.
Best money ever spent!! We’ve been members for a few years now, we all love it from three to seventy three ❤️
Terrific for small kids and families. Learning for all ages.
Darwin is best tortoise
It's a wonderful very kid friendly and hands-on "mini aquarium" facility where there's a demonstration or feeding every 30 minutes to keep all engaged! They take the time to answer all questions and provide educational information. It's a great place to spend the afternoon with family, kids and friends!
A great plays for children and adults. Great staff. Playground area for the kids. You can touch many of the animals here.
