REVIEWS OF Silver Falls State Park IN Oregon

IndigoPharoah

Howard Creek horse trails is very beautiful, great place to park and old growth forest to meander through.

Katie Gerkin

The falls were not as big as I imagined they can get to be as it is the end of summer. We did the 5 mile loop with a two year old and 11 month old and enjoyed the process. We will be back in the spring for bigger waterfalls!

Megan Thornton

We spend a lot of time outdoors and silver falls is my favorite place we've gone. 10 magnificent waterfalls in one hike. It's breathtaking

Avery Faux

Gorgeous trails and wildlife with good hikes. Be aware that a lot of trails do not allow dogs, but some do. The hikes are not super difficult, but some are rather steep. You can stand behind the south falls and on the top. They're a beautiful way to spend an afternoon or full day trip. My French girlfriend really loved seeing all the Chipmunks.

Eileeñ Bailey

Silver Falls is a beautiful place to visit. It was 46 degrees today but dressed warm and still did some walking and enjoying the beautiful park. It's hard to beat!!

Michael Hirsch

Beautiful state park with multiple large waterfalls and nicely marked and maintained trails allowing a one day hike past all of the falls. The path includes stairs where appropriate and provides walking access behind a number of the falls. The park headquarters area has restrooms, refreshments, and a store. Some of the other Park parking lots offer only rudimentary facilities.

Todd Searle

I've hiked a lot of state parks and this hike is one of my favorites all time. We did the full run which ended up being about 8 miles because we added the Winter Haven Falls to our hike. Shade throughout the hike due to the massive trees. Highest elevation is about 1400 and the lowest I remember seeing is about 900. Plenty of insulation but I would not rate this more than a moderate difficulty level. If I could recommend one thing it would be to start in the south parking larking and then hike the loop counterclockwise. In this way you will walk up on most of the falls and be able to see them as you are arriving at them. Absolutely beautiful.

Jennifer Jacobson

Nice park. A little something for everyone. Hiking for all levels, swimming area, playground, picnics, camping and more. Quite crowded on a holiday weekend (lines for restrooms, hard to find parking etc.) Very clean and maintained. We will visit again.

Gweneth Tambe

Absolutely beautiful. The trails are wide for the most part. YES, There's poison oak, it can be avoided. Camping area, picnic areas, swimming areas, hiking & horse back riding.. There are several trail options.

Sara Talbot

Beautiful waterfalls that are easily accessible from driving or you can do about an 8 mile loop to see them all. Nice wide clear pathways for the most part too!

kirti sharma

One of the most beautiful Parks to visit with not one but 7 different falls. They have different hike trails and the one we did was a 5 mile loop with different terrain so it's not for people who have knee and heart issues. Overall the experience of going through so many different waterfalls and the natural, serene and calm beauty around is magnificent. Also the Park is free .

Elora Osterhus

Such an awesome and unexpected place! We came to Salem for a wedding and had time to kill before the evening and were told about the falls. We were so surprised driving out to what just seemed like lots of rolling farmland to finally see these magnificent waterfalls. If you're stopping or staying in Salem I highly recommend them. We only went to 3 of them but I think there was like 7(not entirely sure if that's correct)

matthew woods

A very pretty state park and a really good hike. Could use a port-a-potty at the winter falls parking lot. Parts of the hike are nice and peaceful but other parts can be WAY too busy/congested.

Tracy Gross

Great day hike. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water & light snacks but pls remember to pack out what you brought in. Good for friendly, leashed dogs. Not certain if I would feel comfortable bringing a small child - there are many precipices. I'd worry the whole time!

T T The Tortilla

So beautiful! We go in the summer and it's a lovely hike! I found a snail (Named Franklin), two chipmunks(Chip and Dale obviously, and two big fat banana slugs. I was exhausted from the hike, but a lovely swimming place cooled me off! The bathrooms aren't bad either!

En E. Day

One of the best state parks in Oregon. It's relatively easy to hike as you will come across people of all ages. The total loop is approximately 7.8 miles around with at least two locations to park (at either end). There are some steep or slippery spots but that's it. There are 10 waterfalls and plenty of places to hike. These pics are taken at the primary location. There is a cafe and/or a restaurant of sorts if that is your thing. Photographers seem to really enjoy this place, too. I gave this 4-Stars simply because of how crowded the park gets and how rude visitors can be. Even when it's not summer its pretty busy. Weekdays aren't that less crowded. Don't expect trail etiquette or the courtesy to share the already narrow path. Some people will expect you to just move out their way. Large groups won't walk down the path in single file as others approach from the opposite direction. It occurs frequently during multiple visits. If you don't mind braving the crowds or don't mind being the first ones here you can enjoy a unique experience, walk under a couple of waterfalls and get some steps in. Oh! Don't forget to duck!

Julie Patten

Beautiful hike. Must See if you are in Oregon. The drive to get there takes you past some scenic vineyards and Christmas tree farms. Only 30 min outside of Salem. Some parts of the trail are quite steep but still manageable even if you are not in shape... just take some breaks and take in the views. Amazing chance to walk behind several falls each with their own unique personality.

Sara Hawker

We only did the short loop and but I would love to go back and see all of the waterfalls. Beautiful place and the trails were kid friendly. We also visited the cute little gift shop for some souvenirs.

Eric Allan

Several great hiking options for all skill levels, and even the shortest options include beautiful falls. Also good to have different lengths for people on a short schedule or longer. We did the Canyon Trail with a couple small side trails, and totalled over 7 miles. Later in the summer a couple of the falls are down to just a small trickle, but the main ones are still amazing. The caves behind a couple of the falls are cool too, especially for kids to experience.

Kendra Snodgrass

Beautiful area! The waterfalls definitely make it worth pushing through some crowds and steep hills to get to. Crowded during summer/weekends so get there early. Took about 2 1/2 hours to hike to Drake falls, down the winter trail, and back by the rim trail.

Josefina Harry

Is a peaceful place where you can come take a walk or read a book! Awesome times!

Amber Dry

Silver Falls has so many hiking options. There's several falls to chose from. Just look at trail head maps to see. I honestly really loved visiting in the winter and hiking while the snow was falling. They have a little place you can get hot chocolate and sit by the fire place. Some of the falls are even structured to where you can hike behind them!

If you need to choose one park to visit around Portland, go to the Silver Falls State Park. It will not disappoint you! With its almost magical beauty, it offers a nice stroll in the vibrant green forest covered in moss and ferns. 10 waterfalls will surprise you every time when you suddenly see them. Their sound, although very loud, it has calming and soothing effect. It took us about 4 hours to complete the entire loop ca 7,8 mile (12,5 km). The walk was very pleasant, mostly easy with short slightly steeper parts (nothing to compare to the mountain trails). We stopped many times to take photos and admire beauty of the waterfalls, but definitely you can do the loop in much shorter time if you are time bound. Also, if you don't want to do the entire walk, you can drive to the car parks and do the short walk around to experience the majestic forest and its waterfalls. There's also a souvenir shop with a huge choice of various items. I would recommend to get a soap bar with Douglas Fir tree scent! So refreshing and you can get a bit of Oregan home.

Happy Gardner

Amazing place. Well designed for walking and hiking for all ages. Good signage . Beautiful and well maintained. I recommend going during the week for more quiet and enjoyment. Weekends and really crazy with crowds . Dog friendly. Very historic.

Dishanta Kim

We went on 10/27/19 - This was a fairly easy hike. It was so cold when we got there at 830a. But the sun was out and it was a very beautiful hike. There was some icy like on the rails of the stairs. But nothing terrible. I highly recommend this hike!

Denise Fillmore

A beautiful venue for weddings and other gatherings. The staff was great. The cabins were clean and well kept. Pet friendly. Wonderful hiking, camping and spectacular waterfalls.

Leta Russell

There is a shallow area for wading, plenty of picnic tables and grass for picnics, a play structure, great trails, 10 waterfalls, and a gift shop. This is a great place to visit for the day and a camping park, as well for a longer stay. The Jr Ranger program is excellent.

Robin Brust

Absolutely beautiful trails. Make sure you go the right way on the South Loop trail or you are in for an intense hike up the mountain. Make sure to visit the gift shop, really cute souvenirs at great prices.

Sandy Reno

I love everything about Silver Falls, from the park itself to the campground. This is a gorgeous and serene place to visit and/or camp. I love hiking and train running the back trails, which are all very well-kept despite being out of the main park.

Beatriz Abella

Well-maintelained and family friendly! We saw 8-9 beautiful falls over a three hour hike. The little cafe had simple selections, beer and wine - perfect place to wind down afterwards. Highly recommend!

Gabrien Clark

Pretty wonderful park with hikes and public areas catering to everyone. The waterfalls are gorgeous and the hikes aren't overly difficult. You really have the ability to choose-your-own-adventure here with the paths. The maps and signage are great as well. Only real complaint is that most of the restrooms are located in a single area, which can be pretty inconvenient.

Tom Richards

Unbelievably beautiful. Lush mossy rain forest and spectacular waterfalls on well marked and well designed trails.

Michael Krupsky

Too Crowder on the weekends. Nice that it seems somewhat accessible for people with mobility challenges. It's a long walk and steep decent to the second falls.

Eric Whitehead

This park is so nice it was once nearly made into a national park. Fantastic scenery and hiking. The trail of 10 falls is a must do for any hiker's bucket list.

Todd Wilcox

Beautiful trees, wonderful streams, deer, great visit. It was cold and wet. Make sure you have jacket and good shoes

Anshul Shrivastava

One of my favorite place to visit. I always wanted to visit this amazing place and when I got a chance to visit, it surprised me with its astonishing beauty. We did Winter Trail hike and all the water falls were so serene and pristine that we fell in love with the place. Highly recommended to visit in Fall.

Kristina Derosier

*NO dogs* so make sure you leave them home. My first time arriving we had the dogs and could only do the rim trail which allows you to see only 1 Falls. Enjoy the hike and take many pictures as the beauty is so easy to capture.

AILEEN Yu

Take time around40 minutes from Portland downtown. We need to pay parking. Parking lot is enough if come to early morning. Many kind of falls are in this area. Around 10 falls . Different trails are good for hiking with family. In my opinions, it is nice for semi hiking. Also different feeling each season when I come to here. Sometimes we must be careful because floor is wet . Some area is very slippery . Whatcing ur steps and take care if ur bring a child

Mayra Delgado

So absolutely incredible. It's a long hike. There are maps so you can choose how far to go. 10 or 11 waterfalls total. Some huge, some smaller If you're in Oregon, you CAN'T miss this. I mean, water pours from the stone walls surrounding the trail. Everything is vibrant green.

Christie Barker

Silver Falls loop is just about 8 miles to see all 10 waterfalls. It is a perfect hike that anyone will enjoy. *NO dogs* so make sure you leave them home. My first time arriving we had the dogs and could only do the rim trail which allows you to see only 1 Falls. Enjoy the hike and take many pictures as the beauty is so easy to capture.

Chad C

Truly amazing place. The camp sites are great. There is biking, swimming, and hiking nearby with lots of space for other activities and pavilions for events. The waterfalls were absolutely stunning with a couple that you go behind. Make sure to go when the runoff is high so the falls are roaring. If you wait until late in the year they wont be nearly as big or awesome.

Wendy Phoenix

Quick and easy hike for all ages. My son is 3 and I'm 35 weeks pregnant and it took us about 30 min to do the little loop under the big falls.

Matthew C

Very nice place! Good parking lot, nice trails, cozy cafe and info place

Gonpostal

Absolutely beautiful area. Moderately difficult hike. If you're going to be doing one of the longer hikes you'll not want to do it after months of sitting on the couch. The path marking is a little lacking. There were several of us trying to find which parking lot our car was in.

Erendira Chaparro

Such a beautiful hike. The waterfall is so amazing and walking beneath it was breathtaking. My husband and I really recommend it! There's also a gift shop that's totally cute.

Anthony H

Great place to relax and get some serious walking in. I suggest parking at the South falls section for parking availabilty, the one at the North section is way too small. The park could use better markers and maps to help people navigate routes. You will have to use some extra intuition to figure out what fall you are looking at.

Debbie Loscotoff

This state campground in Oregon is our favorite hands down. GPS & on star gave wrong directions coming in from Bend, OR - led to dead end road. We received correct directions from OR-22 once close to Sublimity OR. Need to come in on OR-214 for the park.

Samantha Field

Breathtaking, beautiful, magical. Amazing place to visit and take in all it has to offer. Don't be afraid to see what's off the "path". You may just discover more magic

Brian Briggs

Beautiful park with nice trails and open grassy areas. The hikes aren't to difficult or too long. Nice grassy areas to bbq or to soak up the sun. Cute little cabin to buy food, snacks or beer. Nice in the winter time to charge and thaw by the fireplace.

Michael Adams

One of the best places I have visited in Oregon. Wonderful hiking with beautiful sites and viewpoints.

Iris Sasaki

This is a beautiful place for people of all ages. I took my 96 year-old friend there, and he loved it. He walked quite a bit but not up and down hills so he was fine. It's just a very beautiful calming place.

Waleed

Great park and wonderful water falls. As mentioned by others it's quiet a hike to see all of them but if you want to keep the hike to a minimum you can try the following... First start at south fall parking... Pay for parking which will be good for the whole day and good when you park in other parking lots... From the parking, the south falls is a short hike. Then get back to the car and drive back towards the north falls. Park at the Winter Falls trail head and from there there's also a short hike to three or four falls. After that you can get back to the car and drive to the north falls parking lot and from there do the last couple of falls.

Henry Mosler

The best hike for everyone! Very peaceful, all you hear is rivers, birds and waterfalls! The trails are very nice, easy and labeled very well. You can't get lost here.

The Schmutzer

This is an amazing park. We I use a crutch to walk and not in very good shape and I made it to a few water falls. North Falls no problem. Everybody has to see this! We will be back many more times.

Siranna Angel

North falls day use area has a kids interactive play area and a free dump station fyi. Well maintained trails. Gorgeous place to be.

Stacey Gould

Cool walk with lots of waterfalls. Did the loop. Easy, but long walk, very rewarding.

Brian Smith

My cousin had her wedding here and it was amazing. A perfect venue. We stayed in the cabins, drank the drinks, Ate the food and had a great time for 3 days in the middle of this amazing state park. Don’t miss hiking to see some of the amazing waterfalls as well!

darren huserik

1st time their only got one night definitely be back. Lots of deer and the bathroom near the cabin1 was very clean..Staff was friendly and very helpfull !!

Bud Coe

Just a wonderful spot to spend a few hours. Park in the south falls parking lot, visit the lodge, and hike behind the 177 foot signature falls for the park. Be ready to walk a lot, bring a day pack, and don't be in a rush. Oregon scenery at it's finest.

Deidra Bernabe

It was fun, great and breathe taking..Good family time and lots of memories

Chad Hartman

I love this place! It's an amazing place to spend a couple hours or spend the whole day.

Megan Woodburn

We did the trail of 10 waterfalls starting at South Falls. We started right at 7 a.m. and we only saw one other couple, but once we got closer to north falls we started to see more people. This hike took us 5 hours because we stopped to take so many pictures. This hike was truly amazing!! If you have the time, you should do this hike. It was pretty easy, a few stairs and rolling hills along the way, but just long.

Andy Adams

So... many... waterfalls! And a secret apple orchard that only the park ranger and I and seven deer know about. Shhh! Don’t tell, deer!

Maria Kazantsev

Huge park, plenty of trails with good signage, quiet in the morning (when we went during the week). Parking was easy and we got in and out of our hike without a problem. Scenery is beautiful.

Kollin McMullin

One of the best state parks i have ever been to! While there are not a lot of signs telling you where to go, you cant really get too lost. We did the South Falls / Maple trail, which took an hour or so

Tatjanna Miller

A gem hidden in a gorgeous cove, you can walk behind it and explore the cave area there. What I liked: The gorgeous views and walking behind the falls. What I didn't like: The best part of nature always requires steep walks. Honestly, there is no way to perfectly describe the view at the first set of falls. I can try, but I encourage you to see for yourself. As you pull in you'll need to pay the day use fee, but after this you'll follow the signs to the trail which leads you down a railed switchback about 1/4- 1/2 a mile down. On your way down the falls grow louder and you catch glimpses of her between the trees. You can almost imagine being there alone by the pools below. When you reach the falls the trail opens up into a cavern area (watch your head!) And you get to see the falls wash down off the cliff above. Follow the loop down and across the bridge where you'll get a picture perfect view of Silver Falls flowing into the pools below. From here you can continue on to the next falls (be aware this is stair hell) or follow the loop back up to the parking area

Autumn Freeman

It was lovely! Absolutely worth it! Grounds are beautiful, location is easy! The north parking lot is full...but the south parking lot is huge and worth not going to north parking.. However, north parking has a wonderful small little fall and sitting at the base is so surreal...overall, must see park!

Jody Gonzalez

One of my favorite places in Oregon. It's breathtaking and family friendly and clean and there's lots to do. I'd love it more if there was cell service. Lol. Just concerned for emergencies.

Evelyn Buining

Did the south hike. I did take hiking boots but you would have been fine with just runners. Great trails. We went in August the falls were not running very fast. Beautiful trails still. But recommend going when the falls are flowing better.

Yoni Elron

Very well taken care of, beautiful scenery, weather was great, trails are clearly visible. Recommend to start early. The skyline trail is slightly less interesting to do, so maybe better to start there.

patrick rudolf

It's a bit of a hike, but totally worth it. Pristine temperate rain forest. Waterfalls everywhere. Three you can walk behind. Cafe for when you get hungry take food and water as it gets strenuous at times if you are out if shape. Would visit again

esther thomas

We hiked along the river and was able to view 9 waterfalls on July 25 2019. It’s the most beautiful hike I’ve been on!! I’m from California and the landscape is dry and very hot. I really enjoyed the green foliage and pleasant weather. My 83 year old mother was able to hike with us. I saw strollers on the trail also. There are some stairs throughout, but overall it’s a very easy hike.

Apollo 9000

Great place! Very touristy. It has 10 water falls but the biggest one is right up front. Very easy hike for all kinds of people

Matt Watkins

Awesome place to get in touch with nature. Plenty of trails to walk and enjoy the beautiful trees, river and waterfalls. Nice gift shop, cafe or picnic spots. Bring the kids and the dogs to enjoy the day

Trevor Elson

Awesome views. Great hike that is very easy. A little slippery on a rainy day but doable with the right hiking shoes.

John Caruso

Incredible hike. I would call it an easier hike as there’s not much elevation gain. The paths are well maintained. I took the the ten falls trail to the rim trail. The rim trail is relatively close to road and is paved in places if that is or isn’t what you’re looking for. There are spots where the trail leads to stairs and there’s a good amount of moisture so keep that in mind when deciding footwear. The falls are incredible. You can walk behind most of them.

Ellen D-Reger

Loved it. Just wish the WiFi at the lodge worked. Good to be off grid, but hard to come back on grid to bad news. Love absolutely everything else about this park

Karen Saunders

A must see for all. The falls are spectacular. I felt it was an an easy walk and could be a great way to spend a day with family. We had a cup of tea at the cafe on our way out and sat by the fireplace.

Dalee Besaw

So beautiful, and the camp site was nice. The raccoon's made off with our snacks.

Sapphire Sunset

Amazing hiking trails, get to walk behind a water fall. Beautiful scenery. All around amazing place highly recommend checking it out. It's awesome.

Fergus Nolan

Recommend by a good friend that this place is worth the drive from Portland and she was right. Our biggest regret is we did not get there earlier. The paths are really well maintained and the signage well done. This place is really worth a day of your time. The scenery and the many waterfalls will keep your senses well occupied. The parking/entrance fee is a reasonable $5.

Jennavieve Sloan

This is a good mix of very easy hikes and things that are more challenging. The further you venture into the park, the more beautiful the rewards!

Larry Etzel

Silver Falls State Park is great place to get exercise or to relax with family and friends. Beautiful scenic view throughout it's thousands of acres. A must see if you are in the area.

Jill Harwell

Also good to have different lengths for people on a short schedule or longer. We did the Canyon Trail with a couple small side trails, and totalled over 7 miles. Later in the summer a couple of the falls are down to just a small trickle, but the main ones are still amazing.

Nev Freeman

Beautiful place with many trails! While family loved it! Only issue was parking at the north falls. Heading back next week without our dog since most the trails don't allow dogs and its obviously too hot to leave them in vehicles

Jeff Cary

So far amazing experience. Trails are easy for small humans and the views are spectacular. The south falls specifically is awe inspiring. Campground amenities and sites are clean and we'll maintained. We'll definitely be coming back next year.

Kelly Kirk

This is a beautiful park with ten waterfalls along the main rim ridge trail. it is a moderate hike with a steep decline to enter into it and a steep incline coming out of it, the rest of it being pretty moderate and mostly flat if a bit rocky. it can be slick and muddy in several places as there is water all over the place feeding the waterfalls, especially in the fall when you have wet leaves on the trail covering the rocks and other possible trip hazzards. This trail is definitely worth the 1 1/2 hour drive it took to get to it from southwest Washington. It is about eight to nine miles, depending on which legs of the trail you take to cover all ten waterfalls. the waterfalls are still beautiful in the fall but there is a lot more water coming over the drops in the spring. A five dollar, all day pass is required and you want to be there early as the lots fill quickly.

Aui Buenafe

Majestic falls - 10 to be exact!!! We didn't get to visit the 10 big and not so big ones, but it was a beautiful experience! The Middle "great" South Falls is the grandest of all! It was rainy when we visited, but it actually gave us a different experience. Be sure to have your walking stick or hiking poles with you and hydrate! Photos! Photos. Photos!!! Take a lot of it! Also, take your trash with you as you leave.

shawn shultz

Had a fun hike with my daughter on July 8th. A fair amount of people there, but when you get away from the main visitor center it's not too bad. Not a huge amount of water falling down some of the falls. If you want to see the bigger falls have to go earlier in the summer or spring.

Robbie Cox

One of my favorite state parks. Usually pretty busy but despite the traffic it is still enjoyable. Beautiful views and a variety of hikes to choose from

Michelle Duquette

Great exercise, beautiful views, relaxing...definitely recommend going here. Took my six year old son and he was able to do a 10 mile hike here! Awesome

Christian Garcia

Rain or shine, hands down the best place to hike with different routs you can take. With pets no pets kids and the elderly.

Max LeDog

Campground was very nice. Showers were good quality. Some people were louder than they should have been after quiet hours but that comes with the territory.

Anthony Miceli

Beautiful place. Gets a bit crowded near the south falls. Easiest 7 mile hike you will ever do. It's broken up perfectly between waterfalls and though there are "ten" there's really only 6 worth seeing.

Craig Kingsland

Truly one of the best if not the best State Park in Oregon. I love to go there and walk behind the waterfalls. Great trails and fairly easy to hike. A must-see!

Julie Silvius

I picked an amazing day to go but it was as beautiful as ever. You can walk behind waterfalls and just be immersed in nature. The lower south falls are my favorite but the south falls are a great attraction. Be prepared for steep hills that are wet on a hot day and rocks on the path. Don't forget a snack and some water but if you do the cafe is open during the summer months and the staff are friendly.

Tri-Saber 64

It's a great hiking spot. A good amount of variety. You could choose from a couple different lengths. The trails were well packed and even paved for much of the area near the parking lot. The guard rails were sturdy. The water falls were beautiful too. Plenty of cool rock formations accompanied the water falls. There was even a park near by, with a play structure. A nice souvenir shop was near by, which had a couple cute things to bring home.

Sierra N

IF YOU ARE BRINGING YOUR DOG you can NOT go on the main trail (Canyon trail) that goes through all the water falls. There is one 1.5 mile hike you can do out and back, but there's no view of any water. So just be aware

Richard Green

One of my favourite places in Oregon. A place to enjoy nature at its finest. Go at a quiet time, if you can, to appreciate the tranquillity.

Vicki Guillory

Another reason to go outdoors here in Oregon. Silver falls is beautiful. The trails are wonderful to walk on. They are well marked so get out there and explore! I think you will happy that you did.

Alma Perez

Beautiful place. But we got robbed, they stole our huge full cooler and hamburger/hot dog buns and our cookies! Not cool, if you come make sure your in a group. Too many people are coming not very safe.

Josh Pope

Bring a physical map, or know the trails before you get there. Cell coverage is iffy/unlikely.. and it’s easy to get on the wrong trail.

Alexis Henry

It was beautiful with great services and well maintained trails. It is also easy to adjust for experience, ability, and time. It was also very crowded. Still worth the trip. At $5 for day use parking it was affordable too.

Bethanie Gambardella

Dishonest. You will be charged for absolutely nothing. Even after they tell you it won’t cost you anything, because they didn’t do anything for you. I walked into their office for 3 minutes and received a $133 bill. THIS is a prime reason our health care billing is a joke.

John Delmonte

Year-round outdoor adventures, changing during each season, awesome fun for the whole family, couples, and single travelers. Beautiful Western Oregon State Park showing natural landscaping, several classic iconic waterfalls, well maintained trails, excellent picnic areas, historic indoor displays, access to restaurants (they can run short on food and drinks at the end of high volume summer visitor days) and gift shops year round make it a great place to visit anytime. Warning: be in very good PHYSICAL condition if you want to hike down to the base of of falls.... remember you have to hike BACK UP A VERY STEEP LOOSE GRAVEL TRAIL.

Sanah Virani

This is such an amazing place to hike! Down side is that dogs are not permitted on all trails.

James Houdyshell

This place is amazing. Ten waterfalls all in hike if you can make the long trail. If you can't make the big hike break it up in sections but I definitely suggest seeing this whole park

Maximus Decimus

This is the most peaceful place filled with beauty. I suggest you arrive early like 6am early if you prefer solace. If you're new to this place I suggest you also start from South Falls to North, stairs of doom I call them. You'll hit em going down instead of up. Think Lord of the Rings stairs otherwise! If you're a beginner you can catch 2 of the falls, starting with South, and ultimately hit the Maple Trail to get back to cars faster. It can take hours to hit all falls beware! Other easier options include the Rim Trail that's not as much up and down, runs around the exterior edge of the park. Enjoy!!!

Dustin Gross

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful park!!! I have gone here a couple of times and still haven't seen all the falls! You could spend a whole day here easy and there's a cafe/restaurant on the trail too for a rest stop and a bite to eat.

Ray Patino

A must see if visiting Oregon. A beautifully presevered piece of nature. The North Falls are simply breathtaking. Trails can be tough for kids or inexperienced hikers. Trail guides are very helpful. Cafe has good coffee and kombucha. Can't wait to return one day.

Adrian Broadhurst

Never disappoints! A must see for any visitor. Plan to stay longer and just enjoy each of these beautiful waterfalls.

Gregory Ray

This is the first time back at south falls in 49 years. It has changed greatly. Now there is a seasonal restaurant with excellent food.

Dana Olson

Beautiful park! So many trails! Great rv sites too

Ashish Kedia

The ten falls trail is very good. Some falls are small while others are really tall. The 7.5 mile loop starting from south falls is worth the time. I recommend giving it at least 4 to 5 hours. More if you want to chill and take a dip in the water. The was ample of parking space as well.

Geo Dude

If you are visiting Oregon for the first time and have the opportunity, do yourself a favor and visit this park. It is truly a hidden wonder of Oregon.

Alex Fidel

The campground was very clean and more immaculate than any other state park we've visited in CA, WA, or OR. The sites had plenty of room for our 5th wheel trailers (35 & 37 ft) & trucks. Cell signal was good for AT&T and T-Mobile, but not Verizon. The dump station is located on the North side of the campground which is inconveniently located 2 miles away. We were able to see 5 of the 10 amazing waterfalls without much strenuous hiking.

All the trails are gorgeous, but be forewarned to pay attention if you're doing the small loop to watch for the turn, otherwise you could do what we did and accidentally take the 5 mile trail. Park in the South Falls parking lot, it's $5. Be aware that you will have no cell phone reception as you enter the park.

10 waterfalls, but we only saw around 5. Great place. Plenty of parking (though filled up fast - and doesn't accept American Express). Plenty of picnic areas incl riverside; toilets; tourist stop etc. The main trails wouldn't be stroller/pushchair friendly but I did see one mother go for it. But on the whole, the trails are decent. You can find one that's suited to you, or go for as many as you can until you feel tired. The falls are amazing. You can walk behind both Lower falls, which is always cool.

This place is off the beaten path, but definitely worth the effort to get there. Start off at the South falls and hike the canyon trail. You can go all the way to the North falls which is about 4 miles and then head back on the rim trail. Total distance around 7 miles. Or you can turn off at winter falls and return on the RimTrail for a total of around 4 miles. Spectacular waterfalls, amazing beautiful trees and everything else nature has to offer. After the hike, check out the town of Silverton. They've got restaurants, bars and coffee shops that are great to check out.

Beautiful park with great hiking. If you don't want to make the hike to all ten waterfalls, you can pretty easily see two from the north parking area and two more from the south parking area (or maybe 3-4 with a little more effort.) If you opt for this, you might want to start first and early at the north parking area as it is much smaller and fills up fast, and then shift to the south parking area. There are restrooms, a gift shop, and a place to buy food near the south parking area. Wear sturdy shoes that can handle water as some of the trails can be wet!

Stunning park, great trails, beautiful waterfall. Big grassy area going right up to the river in main central area of the park. So many beautiful trees and ferns in other areas. Classic Oregon, really gorgeous. The concession food was surprisingly good, and the gift shop was charming. Lots of photo ops everywhere. This is a really well designed park, accessible at many levels. My knees aren't up to stairs, but I was still able to see and enjoy the Silver Falls.

At first I was second guessing the drive from Portland to get here. But I’m so glad I decided to take the trip. This park is amazing. The waterfalls and views are endlessly stunning. A photographers dream. Wish I had more time to spend here.

Loved this park! The trails were relatively easy and rewarding. The falls were phenomenal and we loved being able to go around one 360 degrees!

It was a beautiful autumn day with the sun shining; perfect day for hiking. The falls were illuminated by the beams of sun light through the trees. Beautiful view.

Excellent place for camping. Camped here for 2 nights in June 2019. Had everything we needed, Nice weather, big site, water, shower, clean bathrooms, nice staff, quick access to falls, and 5 bars of AT&T LTE. Can't complain.

A beautiful state park with some wonderful hiking trails. The main trail is a an 11 mile loop that takes you to a half dozen waterfalls most of which the trail loops behind the water falls for a breathtaking view of the falls and the canyon beyond. The trail has several cut off points that allows for a shorter hike and several parking areas allows for different starting points as well. Picknick tables, bathrooms and a little cafe allow for food and treats at the beginning and or end of your hike.

Rented a cabin for a weekend and it was great. All of the park grounds and facilities were so well kept. We had a fantastic time!

9 miles of beauty. Pack a lunch, take the full loop, and picnic at any of the amazing spots along the way. Dogs are not allowed, so enjoy the fresh air and all the wonderful people and give the pups a day of rest. Make sure to take deep breaths in the grottos behind the waterfalls!

Such a fun hike!! We walked to the North Falls. It took us about 2 hours all together 5 miles round trip. It was not too difficult, a few switchbacks on the way back up on the Canyon trail, but not that hard. Really nice hike!

Love visiting would definitely recommend the place to anyone. The park was easy to get to and there wasn’t a million people there that day. The falls are spectacular and the hikes are quite short as well if you’re not much of a hiker but if you are you can also hike around the park rather than driving around. Will be back!

Well worth the visit. Lovely walk through trails to the waterfalls. Very well marked for easier or harder trails. I loved that you could walk underneath a couple of the falls. There were 2 dry falls when we visited not sure how often they dry so might be worth checking before you travel. Well worth bringing a picnic for your visit. Good rest rooms and drinking water fountains at the car park.

There are a dozen waterfalls here! But like, 3 good ones. The good ones are worth it though. Do the whole hike if you're able, start at the South Falls and work your way around clockwise, you can go the other way but all the views will be behind you if you do. If you're doing the whole loop and have trouble with stairs, you'll have to plan your route accordingly, because it's a long way doubling back to avoid them. Also the lodge has some pretty killer clam chowder and a good beer selection.

Came to see the sights and ended up being the maid of honor for a lovely couple that we just met moments before whom needed witnessed as they got married standing in the pool by the waterfall. Wish I could recall their name I believe they were from Montana?? Gosh I don't know but it was perfect for them and the park was perfect setting. I hope they are still together and they last until their last breath in a wonderful romance to write love stories about...

It was raining today, but there was hardly anyone there. We only looked at two falls: the South Falls and the North Falls, but they were beautiful, and we want to return and see the others. The trails are very well maintained, and the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. The whole park is a gem.

Beautiful, well kept state park. The Trail of 10 Falls is wonderful and full of beautiful waterfalls. This approximately 9 mile hike can be broken into smaller sections if you do not feel you can do all of it at once. I would not recommend the entire hike for children younger than 10.

Breanna Bohl

One of my favorite quick and easy hiking spots! Never disappoints! 10/10 recommend for all hiking levels.

I rode the catamount trail for the first time and it was a blast. Very mild, good for beginners and moderate experienced riders. Mostly just great to get out and be in the woods!
