Great place during the summer very scenic and beautiful. Even better around Christmas. they have an amazing Christmas lights setup.
A lovely place to visit. Holiday lights are breathtaking and I highly recommend bringing your family especially kids.
Beautiful spring day fo see lots of tulips and azaleas. Formal gardens adjacent to rugged Pacific coast.
Beautiful gardens and amazing history walk around here and be sure to walk out to the viewing area building
It's a beautiful garden that is kept up very well. Don't forget to stop at the lookout over the ocean. You can read all about the history of the site.
Beautiful state park along the southern coast of coos bay tranquil and fresh. Just absolutely peaceful.
Nice ocean views from this state park. You can walk along the rim. It is worth a look.
Magical land here. Rich vibrant green forest and majestic sea makes for a great time.
One of my favorite parts of the Oregon Coast. Very beautiful garden and if it’s windy outside you can find a warm break from the cold breeze surrounded my lots of trees, shrubbery, and flowers.
Beautiful, awe inspiring, breath taking, romantic, enchanting... Put this place on your bucket list either late summer or during holiday lights.
We never get tired of visiting Shore Acres. The ocean views are spectacular, especially when the high seas make for epic wave crashes on the rocks. The beautiful English gardens are also fun to roam, with something new blooming from early spring through fall. Then, there's the fabulous Christmas lights display for the holidays. There is also abundant wildlife to view, and it os an overall grand adventure for anyone who loves nature.
What a beautiful garden! A great place to stop by for a nice picnic with an amazing view of the coastline too!
The lights at Christmas were beautiful and very creative.
Amazing place to escape frome regular world to beautiful nature.
Fantastic place relaxing while taking in some beautiful sights. The botanical gardens are well maintained with a wide variety of flowers (especially roses). There is also a seaside cliff that has a great view of the ocean, and there is a secluded cove that is well worth the short hike.
Rhododendrons were in full bloom....just gorgeous.
Such a beautiful place!!!! Nice walk to the beach and gorgeous gardens!!!
Gorgeous property. Attended a wedding here and the staff was amazing. The reception house is perfect for small events with a full kitchen and two bedrooms.
Beautiful park year round. The Christmas lights are amazing and the store is fun to look through. The trails are also really fun to explore and the views are there best.
Beautiful gardens and the cliffs are breathtaking. Worth going, no question. There are miles of trails to explore too.
Beautiful and unique rock formations. Great views and the botanical garden is magic!
Excellent, beautiful park. Lots of interesting history and the Christmas lights are a family tradition!
Amazing light show for the holidays. In the dark this park is beautiful! After a $5 parking pass you can walk over 350,000 lights. The park has been doing this for us since 1987. During the evening there are cookies and coffee in the 2 story house. Make sure to please make a donation. Enjoy your time and have a merry Christmas.
Beautiful place. Always enjoy visiting there.
Always a beautiful place to visit whether looking at the lights at Christmas time or just going to look at the Roses during spring.
Extra large surf and extreme high tide made the visit AMAZING and the Christmas lights were awesome too!
Love it we went to look at the Christmas light display. Only $5.00 to park. Was inexpensive to take the whole car load of us. The kids and adults enjoyed the visit.
Magical gardens and the sound of the ocean in the background...and then the ocean and the cliffs... beautiful
This is one of the best botanical gardens on the coast. Good hiking here also - magnificent.
Stunning. The Coast was beautiful. Watched Sea Lions and seal. Very relaxing.
One of my favorite places!
Favorite place ever! The trails lead you to BEAUTY!!
Spectacular botanical gardens nestled in the trees above the cliffs affording great views of the ocean.
Lots of neat history here. It's a fun place to watch the waves crashing on the rocks below. Also seals are awesome
Beautiful place to visit
This place is beautiful and mind blowing. It doesnt even look like it's in earth. Almost like an alien planet. Place has a clean bathroom and everything looks beautiful
Beautiful, but would have been nice to know that dogs are not allowed before we paid the $5 day fee.
What can I say? It's just beautiful!
The park was very beautiful and very much left as close to natural as possible with the public coming to visit.
Beautiful park to see flowers and visit. There is also beach access from the park. Beautiful during Christmas time when all of the lights and light displays are out. A must see.
Gorgeous setting and gardens are amazing. So well maintained. Have told many to see this treasure.
Simply astonishing gardens and unbelievable waves can be seen from the cliff in the winter. A must see on the Oregon Coast and in the Bay Area. Catch them around Christmas and you can even see the best holiday lights in all of Oregon.
Rose's will be coming out soon. Great place to go this Summertime.
This park is gorgeous. Totally worth going to. The gardens are absolutely stunning. It has a very peaceful atmosphere. The Rose garden has many award winning flowers on display, and both The freshener and appearance will lift the mood. The beach right next to the park, Simpson Beach, is quite a walk but very worth it.
This is the most beautiful places in the world to me and my wife. They have the best holiday light show.
Beautiful flowers, plants, and setting on the coast, neat hikes to the cove and along bluff edge. My daughter had her senior pictures there and the setting was awesome.
Very scenic and beautiful coastline with pristine walking trails.
Very nice, beautiful view and sweet trails
Can't wait for Christmas. The lights show is amazing.
Love going there.
Love Shore Acres year round! Something new to see every time I visit
Well kept, lovely garden on the ocean cliffs.
Formerly the home of a lumber magnate, this place has both a really pretty Japanese style garden, and stunning views of the breaking waves. It is a bit out of the way but very much worth a stop in your are near here. Easy parking, good facilities. Can't imagine a better place to host an event within twenty miles of here.
A beautiful flower park. Serene and peaceful.
The Garden has a pond and it is so nice.
This place is beautiful and very well-maintained. It has a lot going for it: fascinating history, a beautiful garden, a great little beach, incredible geology... It makes for a wonderful stop to stroll and take pictures, and it would honestly make a great wedding destination. I can't wait to see the holiday lights they put up each year! It's definitely worth the parking admission. But, pro tip: if you don't want to pay for parking, just park at the viewpoint just down the road and walk the VERY easy trail the rest of the way. While I was there, the bathrooms were unavailable, but I don't know why. Just keep that in mind.
Extraordinary coastline and a beautiful garden. What a surprise!
Beautiful place all year around
Was such a beautiful day always love visiting this place great beach access and such a beautiful garden area
Absolutley wonderful park! Beach, observation point, flower garden, forest hiking, gift shop, and camping all in one! I always love coming here whenever I'm near Coos Bay and it only costs $5 per vehicle no matter how large the family. Highly recommended you purchase a 4Ocean braclet at the gift shop because every purchase removes one pound of plastic from various oceans, seas, and shorelines
This is a fun afternoon activity. Quiet pretty garden with short walk to the beach.
Stunning and beautiful piece of the Pacific coast.
Beautiful any time of the year
Beautiful Gardens. The coast line here is spectacular also.
Pristine, gorgeous, coastal wildness also home to the beautifully exquisite Simpson estate gardens. Lovely walking/hiking paths along the continuous bluffs above the Pacific ocean, offering breath-taking views and sneak peaks into the life of many marine mammals and water fowl, who live along the shoreline.
Beautiful botanical garden and cliff beach views. Worth the drive.
Oh my goodness. This place is absolutely stunning. So fragrant. Damp. Mystical. Beautiful flowers and trees from all over the world. I felt like a princess in a royal garden. I adore this place. The gift shop was full of geodes and rocks, crystals, local jewelry. Lots of treasures. ❤❤❤
What a lovely experience, the low fall sun and morning mist cast magical sun rays throughout the forest. There is plenty of places to sit and take in the surf. There is an enclosed viewing area for when storms are raging or to just hang out in to stay out of the wind. The botanical garden is stunning. Be sure to either have an Oregon State Parks pass or the exact $5.00 for the day use ticket as the machine did not give change. You can purchase the Oregon State Parks Pass at the gift shop at Shore Acres, the 2 year pass is cheaper than the 1 year.
A gardener's idea of heaven.
Definitely a must see! Beautiful scenery and lots of hiking trails!
Love watching and listening to the barking of sea lions. They are such a delight to watch. It was a bit stormy while we were here today, but nonetheless we could still hear the jibber jabber of these fabulous creatures. There’s plenty to see along the Oregon Coastline. We enjoyed walking thru the Simpson Estate garden and taking in the views from the observation deck, as well as a trail that took us to a historic tennis court along the way. Property was formerly owned by a lumbar magnate. Great place for all!
I have loved this place since I was a little kid. I got the pleasure of visiting during one of the holiday lights show and it was spectacular. I'm so happy that I now can bring my kids and family to such a beautiful place!
Are favorite spot to go during the holiday it's an annual tradition
Gorgeous and peaceful. Wish we could stay forever. Will be going back for Christmas lights
Amazing place to visit. The view point is fantastic. The rocks seen from above were impressive to see after years of erosion. The dips and holes that have formed are just crazy. In some areas you see indents and in others there are perfectly rounded mounds of the sand stone that look like they have grown up and out of the earth. Beautiful waves crash over these giant rocks at high tide to provide spectacular photos of the Oregon coasts natural beauty; truly a photographers dream! Don't forget to stop at the gardens while you are there. Spring is the best time of year for this section but the gardens are beautiful year round for the true horticulturist!
My favorite state park on the Oregon coast! Make sure you have 5 dollars in cash as often there is no one tending the pay station booth. The park also has a botanical garden which is very well maintained. We got to witness a gray whale on our last visit to the park.
Probably the most interesting place on the Oregon coast, especially for storm watching.
Does not disapoint. Beautiful
This is not a dog park, but rather a dog ranch because it's so big! It's incredible to just let a well behaved dog go be free. There are tons of crossing trails you could get turned around on easily. There is river access as well if your pooch enjoys a dip/swim. The only issue is parking. There is a parking area, but it fills up very early. You'll see people parking on the entrance road, but I recommend to avoid due to the pitch of the shoulder; roll-over territory.
Wowza! The beauty of nature that is irreplaceable is right here outside of Coos Bay, Oregon . On a stormy day you will see the swells from the ocean for miles. You might have the opportunity to see a pod of whales swimming by. More than likely if you hike down to the beach area that is very secluded you will run into incredible wildlife and sea creatures. The stones and shells of years past will delight you. A must see to anyone traveling through the area… Don’t miss it. It’s absolutely beautiful.
Nice relaxing place to go for walks
Classic Historical Park on the Oregon coast. Wonderful Japanese garden and a Secret Cove Beach that hardly anyone goes to. The Christmas light show from Thanksgiving through New Year's is also wonderful and worthy of the trip.
Simply stunning, caves were cool
Location is key. This place has it. Go check it out. You won’t regret it.
This was one of two stops we made on a trip from Eugene OR to Trinidad CA and it didn’t disappoint. The views are beautiful and the gardens are very well maintained. There is a $5 fee for entrance but we thought it was well worth it.
Love this place. They have the best Christmas light show
Very beautiful State Park wide variety of flowers overlooking the ocean
Went to the botanical gardens just up the road. Was a lovely walk/hike. A little up hill and you do have to watch your footing. We really enjoyed our mini (work) vacation in Coos Bay.
This site gives you better views than a lot of the shoreline overlooks up and down the coast! Very pretty! The rock lookout gives you 180° + of beautiful things/ocean to see.
Meticulously attended gardens, spectacular ocean views
If you can, visit when there is a storm surge, you won't be disappointed.
It's a fantastic place to watch the Oregon coast. There is plenty of activities for the whole family. Gift shop has a great selection of merchandise.
Beautiful place to visit...
Beautiful gardens as we drove by
Beautiful place. It is so peaceful and the volunteers are helpful and kind. I highly recommend visiting Shore Acres if you are in the area.
Beautiful scenery and the deer was a plus
Fun place to visit. One of the state parks thats still cared for and not falling apart.
Awesome views, and beautiful gardens
Glad we stopped at this beautiful landscaped flower haven!!!
The most beautiful place but at Xmas ,YOU MUST SEE THAT !
Very nice and pretty place to go
Great gardens, pond and structures. Spend a few hours walking the grounds and the trail to the ocean overlook. Visit different times of the year to see the changes in plants and the waves crashing into the cliffs in the winter. A good amount of parking. County parking permit required.
I probably would have rated it a 5 star except that the fog was so dense we couldn't see much from the observation points. There are botanical gardens in the property that are pretty. Parking is ample.Just down the road about a quarter of a mile is a colony of seals and sea lions. We couldn't see them but we could definitely hear them!
Flowers are pretty now, but in a month or so it will be even better!
From the beautiful rose gardens to the rhododendron plants to the various trails and viewpoints, Shore Acres has it all. If you enjoy looking at Christmas lights, this place gets the most attention between Thanksgiving and New Years as nearly anything that can be lit up is lit up with LED lights. It is an amazing experience.
The crown Jewel of the Oregon State Park System.
Beautiful place. A completely unexpected different scenery. Trails and places to sit and take in the view. Don't get too close to the edge.
Small garden that is very well maintained. Sorry no doggies allowed.
Great camping easy access to the ocean with a breathtaking view at the end of a super short hike
Awesome place. Don't forget to walk down to the beach. Christmas lights are amazing.
Love this place. Bought a year pass just so we can go here.
Absolutely adore this place. Especially during Christmas!!!!!
Fantastic views and easy hiking
So spectacular! A MUST DO whenever you're in the area.
Wow!
Amazing park with BEAUTIFUL views a must see.
It's worth to come again.
Beautful place
One of our favorite places on the coast! Gorgeous gardens any time of year, but the holiday lights display is stunning between Thanksgiving and new year's. Worth buying a state park annual pass just to visit there a few times a year. Views of crashing waves and whale watching, botanical gardens and walking paths are all great things about this park. Love it here.
The park sells a 1 or 2 year state park pass for OR state parks. The pass hangs onto your rear view mirror or can be placed on front dash. One can also offer it to guests so they can explore Oregon's state parks for no fee. Shore acres is one of the finest state parks we've viewed. One never tires of the changing foliage throughout the seasons. I recommend this park highly, place it at the top of your list. A nice perk for your out of town visitors or renters. No cell service out there.
Beautiful the biggest flower garden ever
Beautiful place to take guests when visiting Cape Arago.
Always an incredible area to check out... especially during a storm. Go out to the cliffs and watch the waves crash on the rocks
Love to go hiking and visiting the gardens
Beautiful place, lots of well maintained flowers
The Christmas light display here is very well done. There's a lot of different displays that are well integrated with the natural features of the garden. It's just a really fun, enjoyable atmosphere. Highly recommended if you're there during the Christmas season.
You have a wonderful view to the sea. From the parking lot you can start your hike to Cape Arago which is a wonderful three to four hours walk with spectacular views to the beaches, the rock formations and sea lions. If you are lucky, you will see even whales.
Nicest l ad dy that works there. The gift shop is awesome and the gardens is spectacular!
Beautiful garden and intriguing history. Worth a visit every time you are out this way as it changes with the seasons.
Very clean and peaceful
Needs a new uphill street but very affordable
Always beautiful, every season has something new to see.
Beautiful place. The hiking and gardens are amazing
Go there. Watch the waves as they come & go. Walk through the beautiful gardens. Hike the trails along the coastline. It is a great place to visit.
A very beautiful and quiet corner of the Oregon. The former estate of L J Simpson, a lumber baron. The gardens on the property are a reflection of his and his wifes interest in flora from around the world.
Very nice park, good views, great for picnics
Shore acres and Multnomah falls are my favorites
I've been coming here with my family my whole life. Now I get to bring my kids here and make new memories with them. I used to come here on stormy, windy days with my grandma, as a young boy. We enjoyed watching the huge waves crash against the rocks and shoot up into the air. So many good times at this park, every season of the year. We love it!
Very beautiful and easy access beach is at edge of parking lot
Love this little park! Great little walk down to the beach. Captivating tide pools. Could have watched all those busy little crabs for hours. Do not pass over the gardens! They are lush, fragrant, and have a wide variety of roses. Saw a salamander too, swimming around in the lily pad pond. Lots of photo opportunities here!
Best for senior citizens not looking for adventure. $5 entrance fee gets you easy access to look at rocks and ocean, a tiny botanical garden, a gift shop, and a bathroom. Up the road, the ocean is free and there are sea lions and seals. I was told this place is stunning when large waves hit the massive rocks, but we didn't have waves on our trip.
The garden is beautiful but the shop is for the most part very overpriced.
Wow! A must see & hear, the coastline here is mesmerizing!!
Such a lovely botanical garden, this week as well and getting a photo shoot there. When asked where I wanted photos done, I couldn't think of a better local place
I always love this place.
This place is absolutely amazing, it is beautiful and breathtaking. the pathsnd trails are amazing, and the ocean access is absolutely beautiful not to mention the beautiful Botanical Garden! it's an amazing place to spend the entire day with your family just exploring and taking in the ocean
So beautiful there! We will be going back when it's got a little bit more flowers
Stopped here on our family vacation to Oregon coast in July 2018. A wonderful place to stop and enjoy the view of the ocean and the beautiful state park. We loved walking around and see the beautiful grounds. The rose test garden was amazing to see all the different colors of roses.
