REVIEWS OF Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area IN Oregon

Jeanette Lynn

I love Oregon, I miss home. And all it's beauty.

Yael Asher Lée

One unforgettable day, one more goal comes true from my adventures walking

Debi Gravitt

Beautiful day on the river, barges going by, Multnomah Falls - beauty is all around!

joy secrest

Drove past looked beautiful didnt get a chance to really enjoy it.

nico pike

The place is just amazing, doesn't matter where you hike on it. You get incredible views like no other.

Maralee Cross

Such a treasure to have this so close and very accessible.

Gina B.

Beautiful! Crowded areas but worth the wait.

William Belo

It's not a bad place just a lot of walking does have a souvenir shop which is nice they can be pretty busy and the parking lot can be pretty crazy at times don't get ran over

Eric Haffner

No exaggeration when I say this is my favorite place on earth. Breathtaking at every corner. Impossible to take a bad picture. Worst part is trying to drive and soak in sites at the same time. Better to stop and take your time.

J F

You'd probably enjoy the gorge if you could find parking!! You'd enjoy it even more if the beauty wasn't obscured by thousands of people cramming themselves into this very beautiful but space-constrained place. I give 1 star because I want to discourage people from going there. We're strangling it with our love.

Darline McHarless

Multnomah Falls is amazing and it's even better when the waterfall is frozen. It looks absolutely gorgeous! The place is usually packed with people and I don't really like that. Text too long to hike up to the waterfall into the bridge Inn summertime. So I usually avoid this and try to go hiking somewhere else. But it is a great for slow walkers, families that have small children. It's really easy going and in the winter time they serve hot coffee and hot tea. They even have different varieties of fudge. It was a little expensive but when you're cold you will pay those extra dollars. I really like that idea

Sharon Lu Fortin

Gorgeous place. We hiked up to the the top of the falls. It's about 1.8 miles uphill. Wear appropriate clothing (could feel really hot) and enough water if it's summer. When we drove there, the parking lot was already full. So we parked in the adjacent park as there was a free shuttle. You pay $5 entry per car. Follow the instructions on the highway. It will tell you where to go when the park is full.

Sallie F.

very pretty area, especially spring time! Spectacular views, fresh air that can be blustery! Good trails to walk and explore. As a native here I feel blessed. The Gorge is full of history and magnificence!

Birge Kinne

One of many waterfalls in the National Park but I got to miss it here in Oregon

Don Voeks

The George and the river are spectacular. Multnomah Falls is so pretty cascading down in two steps, one large and one small. The number of falls is endless. The creeks are numerous. It must be seen to be thoroughly enjoyed. Spend time, don't hurry.

Denise Gandy

I made my first trip to Oregon several years back and have been going back every year since. I love Oregon, the Columbia River Gorge was beautiful I also went up Mount Hood twice that's my favorite place to go when I'm in working. Make a trip up there you'll fall in love with it too.

Adventure Dubbed Discovery

Paved trails and great views. This park is clean and well maintained.

drphosferrous

Outdoor area that's a great place to not be indoors. It's often windy and not terribly private or secluded but theres plenty pretty nature spots with free access. Perfect for windsurfing, paddling, windmill jousting, kiteboarding, trainfighting, fishing, sturgeonnoodling, rockthrowing, batswatting,or just relaxing amongst plentiful seabird guano. Be advised that crossing the river requires a boat, or a motor vehicle and $2. Options for biking, walking,or swimming are limited.

Susan Schneeloch

I stop here often, as I think it's beautiful. There's a nice hiking trail that goes all the way to the top of the falls. Great experience.

Jammie

One of the most amazing places that I’ve been to.

Eric Engholm

What's not to love about a hundreds-of-feet-tall waterfall as you stand on a stone bridge observing it up close? The hiking trail is doable by most people and the snacks at the base of the trail are fabulous. A must-visit for anyone in Oregon.

rodney carr

I have only seen it from the road into the Mill. Looks like a well kept place

Stephen McGehee

It is too awesome for words! Gorgeous, Breathtaking aren't big enough.

Justin Williams

If you like beautuful waterfalls, this is your place. Get here early to avoid the crowds

Judy Isgar

Very nice, beautiful drive. Lots of things to see on your trip, light traffic so you can stop and look, take pictures and enjoy the beautiful country.

Darren Thompson

One of the most beautiful regions in the country..it should be a must see and experience for anyone who enjoys scenic travel

William Frank

This is a very beautiful drive I would say take the scenic highway as opposed to the freeway it is well worth the bypass you will enjoy it immensely as well as all of the various waterfalls along the way

virgil V. bates jr

Beautiful ❤️, always great to stand by the waterfall and listen to the water, here is a sign I've never noticed before

Katrina Romero

This should be on everyone's bucket list. There is never ending beauty and superb hiking.

Marina Cassandra

It's it's own reward. Beautiful and worth the trip. A must-see.

Suzy Glock-Wright

Any place you go in the gorge is gorgeous. Hiking, biking or just driving. Its home.

Tracy The elk hunter

Love being on historical highways and it was so peaceful. The family enjoyed the views

Nikki Steiber

Nature is beautiful here. Can't miss this place if you are driving through the gorge...stop and take it in. It's worth the time!!!

Germain Machleidt

I went on a really rainy day and it was still a amazing experience. So I can’t imagine how it would be on sunny day. I met five people on the whole trip and I guess they want probably to the summit of dog mountain. That’s maybe the best idea. The best part of this place, is the view of the Columbia River. The summits I went, are covered with trees. And the way to the Augspurer Mountain is covered with plants. I was socked after seconds. The daily price for the national park is $5. It’s a self paid place. You will find the form and the envelope there. Public toilets are available.

Jessie Weis

Definitely a great place to visit, but I don't think folks should try it from November to March, due to icy roads most years.

Kathryn Clippard

The views of the river and distant mountains are great but the hike is windswept and totally exposed. We were west of the Catherine Creek Arch loop, which has some shade in the beginning but also gets sparse in the tree department on the second half. We went late though, in June, when the thistles are almost fully locked and loaded, the wildflowers have all but dwindled, and the creek bed is totally dry. Oh yeah, and look out for the poison oak. If you go off trail at all be wearing long pants and socks. Rocky (as in, you're walking on rocks pretty much the whole time) and without much to look at as you hike. A few (maybe five) Ponderosas to provide a smidge of shade and a touch of color, grass crackling dry. Pretty insofar as desert landscapes go, but my preference is for lush greenery. If you like views you can drive to this trailhead, get out, walk a few places uphill, and turn around. It doesn't get so much better higher up that it's worth the beating sun for even a mile further. Hot tip, now that I've gone: go in the spring, when the wildflowers are, I'm sure, spectacular, and the creek is running. I bet it's beautiful until the end of May. For now.

Heather Breen

Gorgeous drive, lot's of road construction but doesn't take away from the beauty of the area.

Owen Thornhill

Beautiful scenery with lots of hikes to explore. Parking pass is a hood idea, saves money in the long run and funds maintenance

Jordan meninick

It was beautiful stop. Great place to stretch our legs.

wayne stephens

Peaceful and serene place to hike or just grab a bite from the restaurant in the lodge. Love it here. I try to go when I have time.

Melisa Lovely

Awesome amphitheatre great concert venue and they do a good job policing up drugs

Ricardo Hernandez Rivera

Imagine being the type of person that rates nature a meager one star. I understand there exist legitimate complains when it comes to services and experiences involving people. Even when people weren't at fault, life is chaotic, so it's only natural that some days will go worse than others. 1 star ratings are well earned sometimes. But when it comes to nature, where interaction with other people can be kept at a minimum, why rate something less than what the full beauty of what it deserves? This place is a wonder to behold.

Bill Oelklaus

Phenomenal string of varied waterfalls cascade from the southern wall of the gorge. Stop and take in as many as you can; while from a common formation, they are each unique and several are spectacular and accessible!!

Joe Sabo

Great place to take pictures. Had to hop rail to take pictures of the sunset

Raven Crum

I always love stopping in here anytime that we travel by it. It is so beautiful and it never gets old. It truly is just stunning!!!

Maegan Bull

This place is surreal! It starts about 40 minutes outside of Portland going east on Hwy 84. (Or west if you are driving in to Portland). This is just off Hwy 84 on the historic Columbian Scenic highway. There are about 14 waterfalls located off of this highway. It is jam packed with people - mostly those trying to park and see mammoth falls, the biggest waterfall on the stretch. There is not enough parking for all the tourists coming through and the result ends up with a traffic stoppage. If you plan to take this route, be sure to fact the driving time in to your plans. You can see at least 7 of the medium/smaller waterfalls just by staying in your car. The Bridal Veil lookout point provides the best view of the river and road below.

Leo Felix

Awesome experience as tourist place... get here early due to parking

Leah Harker

I love visiting Multnomah Falls! Taking the scenic route to get there is much longer than taking the freeway, but there are stops you can make on the way to see the Crown Vista House and view, Womens Viewpoint Forum which has a nice view as well, etc.

jude maxwell

It is just gorgeous there. Everywhere you look there are beautiful mountains and gorgeous skies. Many people come there for assorted water sports.

Shawn Bracamonte

Epic Falls, a must see, lots of waterfalls by if your willing to hike for the less obvious.

Patrick Hazen

60+ miles of varied and beautiful scenery. Take Highway 30 (Oregon side) as much as you can or Hwy 14 (Washington) to get off the interstate to see more. Numerous hikes and historic sites to visit. The Gorge should be on everyone's bucket list.

Wanda Raphael

Second time visiting and just as breathtaking as the first time!

Levi Hayes

Great views and seems to be a popular fishing spot.

Bobby Hull

This place is amazing we started at one of the many upscale wineries for brunch and ended up people watching and a little buzzed. So we walked it off on a 5 mile hike next to the river, so many things to do and see here. I highly recommend checking out the restaurants and shops. Anyone looking for an adventure will find it here.

Sandee McDuffie

It's a wonderful place to stop and stretch your legs and take some photos. It's a rest area worth doing.

Clarice D

This place is so beautiful and peaceful. You should really see it for yourself. You will leave very pleased you did. I love it.

Kyle Elliott

Absolutely breathtaking. It is a hell of a climb to the top, but as you make your way higher and higher up the views just keep getting better. The lake was breathtaking and the trail was vibrant and full of new life. There are a lot of charred remains of the recent fire but they only add to the incredible diversity of site and smell. If you come here, it's worth coming to the top!

Elizabeta Morosan

A bit crowded

Alan Eddy

Nice rest stop very busy to the point of crowed they do have a shuttle service but still very crowed. If you have the time it is well worth it. Plan on a all day experience.

Sue R

Thoroughly enjoyed the river walk. We walked 3 miles of the trail. Very quiet and enjoyable.

Loy Knight

If you like waterfalls this is a must see. Very easy access

Heather Poole

Beautiful walk to the falls! Take a light jacket.

John Taylor

The Gorge is spectacular! Be aware that Multnomah Falls is so popular that the parking lot is frequently full and closed.

Richard Simerly

This is a beautiful place to visit and it is an easy stop, being just off the interstate.

Elaine Lortz

I drive up and down the Gorge on a regular basis, and its beauty never gets old! Had dinner at Memaloose rest area, which has nice picnic tables and a great view. Pretty windy, though.

Darlene Pedersen

Bonneville dam area is gorgeous. We saw a helicopter air lifting deliveries to the mountainside above the dam on a long cable.

Melanie Wilson

I am a professional truck driver so I don't normally get to see the beautiful scenery up close. It was absolutely amazing! A lot of people but well worth the crowdedness... Good word to describe it... It is such an inspiring design in nature. Stunning!

shelly pierce

Many natural water falls along the Historic Columbia River Highway 30 My personal favourite is Horsetail Falls

Brenton Clive

We loved everything about our visit other than the price of the campground ($32). Beautiful area and full of some fantastic hikes!

Shirley Kurtz

This trail has recovered nicely after the forest fires of 2017. Very nice trail to Angel's Rest!

Layce bare

Brought my fur babies down for a walk. Love the scenery, the fresh growth of fruits along the walkways are lovely! Of course as you walk around you get access to the river and the beautiful view that surrounds The Dalles.

Johanna Monson Geerts

Beautiful, peaceful and a great place to hike! It's not super easy to find the trailhead, but when you get there, the maps are really helpful and there's lots to see. There are also super clean bathrooms (not outhouses!) and nice places to picnic, as well as a gift store and small cafe.

Karen Brutzman

There are so many fun things to do in The Gorge. If there is little to no wind, stop at the Lyle rest area to take in the view. If it's a windy day follow the signs to the Hood River Marina beach area and watch the wind surfers!

Abigail Young

This place is my home and whenever I get the chance to see it my heart sings.

Thad Smith

This is a great hike and wonderful view. There are many cascades on the longer hike.

jason cardwell

My top 10 destinations. I love Oregon

Brian Schorzman

What a great hike! Make sure to bring some shoes that can handle some rocky hills! Be cautious if you roll your ankles easily, it can be quite treacherous at times.

Maria U

Very big and beautiful river. We were in water for 10-15 minutes. Was fun.

Matt

Quite scenic, so much to see and do.

HICKSPANICK PRODUCTIONS

Beautiful scenic area the whole family can agree on..

Nichole Acheson

I drive through here often on my way home. It doesn't get old though. It's when I reach this area that I remember why I live so far from town. It's like a big, welcoming hug! The area is not only beautiful but it's peaceful and tranquil as well. There's so much less traffic and people than the Oregon side. And, it's prettier in my opinion!

John Caruso

Beautiful and large area to explore. Many waterfalls, hikes and drives to check out that range from easy to challenging. Many very good restaurants and breweries nearby to enjoy and round your day or trip out. Quick trip from Portland metro area.

Pat Harding

Spectacular thunder, lightening storm, rain . Magnificent view of gorge from Underwood ridge viewpoint

Markus Frey

We got extremely lucky to find a parking spot because the freeway off ramp was closed so access to the over flow parking was blocked as well. It is a very easy hike up to the bridge no more than 5min. The facilities at the bottom are great and there are vendors selling home made fudge and other sweets.

Robert Schloss

The vastness of the river in the gorge is just amazing and the beauty of the forest makes the drive enjoyable.

Scooter Tank

One can enjoy the beauty of the gorge from a car, on foot or on a bicycle. There are more waterfalls per mile than any location in the USA. Hundreds of miles of hiking trails with surprises around every corner. To make the most of your time purchase one of the many available guide books.

Marty Mcfly

So many places to see! Anywhere you see a parking spot, a hiking trail or three awaits you-perhaps even a waterfall! Any season is a good season to visit, but certain seasons are less visited then others, and the solitude of the area is certainly a plus

Bruce Lemmon

It's so beautiful! It's a wonder of nature. A must see for anyone. Make sure you stop by if you're traveling that way and if your not plan a trip to see.

Ricky Morier

Scenic hike but u have to go all the way up

Tim Cathy Branson

One of the most beautiful places in America and yet still relatively undiscovered. Pristine and wild with breathtaking views, waterfalls and a majestic river. We truly love this area. Yes, there is lots of rain but that's what makes it so green and lush.

TK Resendez

Beautiful area if you haven't seen it you should stop

Bradley VanVoorhis

Amazing cloud patterns, scenery is breathtaking, and very quiet and peaceful. Lots of Indian and exploration history. Worth visiting defiantly

Larry Smith

Best part of drive from Portland to Hood River was the fish ladder and watching the locks operate with boats in them. Traffic on the road was pretty bad. There were some nice views on the drive, but nothing spectacular.

Marilyn Bellows

Beautiful views. The foliage was awe inspiring. The colors of fall are spectacular.

jesse bauer

Beautiful but always crowded. The NW is huge, find somewhere with less people. I would give this 5 stars but it has as many people as downtown Portland.

Joe Traveler

The entire area is loaded with trails, hikes and picturesque waterfalls. One after the other almost never ending. Plus countless view points if the great Columbia river. Note thete are few and far between bridges or river crossing options. the north side of the river drive is better for viewing the river itself.

James Bostick

Its just a beautiful, scenic rest area. The hike to the top of the falls is great.

Mary Sparks

Got a bucket list? Definitely add this place!

Sara Johnson

A scenic area for both the sweeping views and an assortment of flora fauna and geology. Waterfalls are always busy spots so hit them early. There are many hiking trails in every difficulty.

Maureen Hagen

We just looked at the falls and went inside the lovely restaurant. Gift shop is packed with items. Very busy tourist stop.

Tilm Alowishes

Beautiful part of the country. I've seen lots of rivers, the Columbia is pretty majestic. The hillside carved out by the river over the centuries to make the gorge are some awesome features worth visiting in the country. This is almost like ground zero for manifest destiny.

Bonnie Robinson

It's just spectacular, but if you want to see The Falls, you need to arrive no later than 9:00 am!

Georgina Neave

What an amazing interstate drive - 84 must be one of the most scenic in the States. We drove both the Oregon & Washington sides and the views are stunning. Aim to pull off to see some of the waterfalls on the Oregon side - not to be missed. Just a beautiful area.

Chris LeFave

Awesome place to hike and take girls on dates or even a family day hike or just to visit the Fall

Dylan Beguelin

The sites here are amazing!! There's so much to see that everytime you come back you'll find something new

Dr. Matty PhD of all Greenery

What negative thing could you possibly say about this place. Definitely one of the most beautiful spots in the Pacific Northwest and I highly recommend visiting this amazing location filled with too many Picture Perfect sites to even put into words. Definitely one of the highlights of Oregon and I-84

Mike Quinn

It's such a breathtaking drive to make. It's so majestic

Timothy Tharp

Awesome, well worth the trip and the hike to the top of the falls. One would not be disappointed if you are able, just prepare plenty of time and hydration.

debra shockome

Best to ride a shuttle in, avoid traffic backed up for miles trying to get a parking spot. It's virtually impossible even if you wait. We paid $5 to park at a beautiful state park at exit 25...LOTS of parking, free shuttle! Climb to top is one and a quarter steep miles but take your time, its worth it. Food at the restaurant was excellent!!!

Chuck Sucks At Games

Beautiful waterfalls. Super easy hike. There is usually plenty of parking, but it is usually pretty crowded, especially on weekends

Lore Shutz

Love this place. Nice place to get married

Kevin House

Dog Mountain hike was beautiful. Be prepared for a steep climb to the top but just as important a physically challenging downhill. Suggest you start early and bring lots of water!!

Karen Martinsen

Endless opportunities for adventure - from biking n hiking to paddle boarding, rafting and kite sailing. It is a complex and unique part of the NW. Hood River is a cute historic town with food and drinks galore. Breweries abound! White Salmon is a sweet little bedroom community on the other side of the Columbia River with amazing vistas, eateries, bakeries, and “Everybody’s” brew pub. The Mt views are all around. Skiing is close in winter. It’s only 85 minutes to Portland so even a day trip is possible. I suggest spending at least one night so you can explore. Pick your own fruit. Sample wineries.

Jenn Etherton

Beautiful and right off the road. Easy access for everyone to enjoy.

Lezlie Ramsey

See 8 waterfalls along I-35 including Horsetail Falls and the most photographed waterfall in Oregon - Moltnomah Falls. Lots of trails for different degrees of difficulty. Drive to Latch Mountain parking lot and ascend a fairly easy paved trail with lots of stairs to the peak lookout for stunning views of Mt Hood, Mt Adams, Mt. Jefferson.

Sarah Kroft

Beautiful waterfall and great opportunities to take amazing photos!

Annette Steele

Beautiful no matter what time of year you go. A must see!!!

Shannon Rutherford

Heaven on earth! The history alone is incredible. Awesome views that reach the sky! To walk the same trails Lewis & Clark walked feels special to me. To learn how The Columbia River Gorge was created, violently, Beautifully; is a story that should always be told. A short drive from Portland. Exellent day trip!

Davis Henckel

Fantastic views and there is a hike challenging or not challenging enough for anyone. I have hiked devil's rest, and angels rest. Devil's rest had cool viewpoints on the way up but there was no view at the top. There was only a sign on a tree. For climbing 4400' in elevation I was pretty disappointed at the end. While the hike and viewpoints along the way up were 9/10, the view at the top of devil's rest was 1/10. Overall it's still a beautiful place to go

Matt Timothy

Easy to get to, fun easy hike and truly stunning falls.

Daryl Doroski

One of the most spectacular places on Earth tons of waterfalls, many historic places and buildings to visit, add a day to your trip with plans to spend it in this iconic land if the Gods.

c. snakeification

Beautiful place to visit. Its great to see the stages of the forest during its recovery.

Megan Orton

Absolutely beautiful! Loved the trees! So peaceful

Chris Long

Low use trail. Nice 8 mile loop. Kind if steep as the elevation gain predicted.

Adam Bossert

Cape Horn Trail is a moderate to difficult 7+ mile hike with amazing views of the Columbia River Gorge. Trail is narrow and there are a number of steep ledges. Not recommended for small children or inexperienced hikers.

Carol Cambron

I love going thru the Columbia River Gorge! It's so beautiful and you might just see a gray whale going down river. Tugboats with barges, the Dams are always churning out the water, windsurfing, fishing, and beautiful views of the vineyards

MarcieJoy Boroughs

As a native Oregonian, I've been here a bazillion times. It never gets old. Extremely popular tourist destination since it's so lovely and has so many wonderful features. My advice: Don't even try it during the summer months. When the kids are back in school, go early in the week, early-ish in the day.

BloNde ChiNeEz

So beautiful.... when I opened the truck door to step out, it smelled like Christmastime. Fresh, crisp air and pine trees and so many pine cones scattered around. Faces on some cliffs had colorful massive spans that seemed to change colors with the sun passing by. There were many cliffs with trees appearing to cling on them with one root. The Columbia River is wide and it's current rages on toward the ocean. Many places to pull over for that perfect photograph to remember your vacation. Lots of people fishing and camping, appearing to enjoy the warmth of the sunshine after winter. This was my first time here in the Pacific Northwest, I really enjoyed it! I will be returning this November to hangout with my best friend. I did say to him that will pass on being back when the snow falls! Although I can picture these mountains and trees covered in snow making it picturesque!

Ann Scherzinger

Stunning scenery, awe-inspiring waterfalls, outdoor recreation abounds.

Stan Beltman

The gorge is always beautiful. Especially with the changing of the seasons.

Luciano Bonilla

Place is great, I just wich they have police officers there to prevent drivers from stopping in the middle of the driveway because they are looking for a parking spot to open. 30 min stuck in traffic because everyone just decided to wait for a parking spot. Ridiculous!

leo drummer

gorgeous view. Absolutely breathtaking. I love their hiking trail. There's a place you can buy ice cream and other little cute things. I would recommend must see this place.

I Hatched A Drummer

Nice area with trails and gift shops. And soooo many waterfalls.

Fred Roberts

Gorgeous. Really easy stop, parking, easy to find. Use the first exit from Portland to park near the lodge. The 2nd exit has more parking, but is a longer walk. You must at least walk up to the bridge...it's less than a 10 minute walk. Just gorgeous.

Alex Sutton

What can I say a beautiful beautiful beautiful place. So sad that many of it burnt down not that long ago a year or two was it? But it's still a lovely place with Scenic views and just a beautiful place and relaxing comfortable and fun to be at I love Oregon

Jay Taffel

Beautiful country. Some serious hikes. You cannot be in a rush to finish them.

Waving Tree Farm

There are so many places worth visiting in the gorge. Overall it's a peaceful, beautiful area with a varying landscape. There are multiple hiking areas. Plenty of places for fishing. And, if you go far enough east there's lots of water sports too.

Barb Jenson

Scenery that is not found anywhere else! Stunning waterfalls; beautiful scenic drives; overlooking Columbia River. Crown Point Highway is exceptional. Did you know Multnomah Falls is higher than Niagara Falls? Take children with you (even if you have to borrow the neighbor's kids!}. Show them how fantastic the world is!

Joshua Hudson

You owe it to yourself to come and visit atleast once in your life. Make sure the weather is nice so you can take in the views

Shatanya Banks

My family and I love adventures and we had a blast being up here. Long drive to the top but we seen a few people biking it so if they can do it...well so can we!

April Vantassell

Fantastically and breathtakingly beautiful but crowded. Go in the early morning or late evening for a more peaceful visit.

Elizabeth Duncan

Grew up here in the gorge..lots of memories... The Marina offers locals a safe spot two Moore there sailboats. And for travelers to safely tie up for the evening to the dock. The sternwheeler also set starts its scenic tour from here as well. offering Travelers unique scenes up and down the Columbia Gorge

Aeris Knop

Being able to see the waterfall from the ground was stunning, but seeing it from the top, was absolutely AMAZING. It's worth the trip, most definitely.

Emy Madzelan

Very nice clean place and the buffet was really good.

Jeremy Erickson

It's so awesome that there was no parking lol. No joke, this place is B-E-A-UTIFUL. Well worth the stop if you are able too!

William Nippert

We actually went across the Columbia at Hood River & used WA SR14 to I-205 & home. Stopped in Camas for dessert, good drink & great cheese plate at the Birch Street Lounge. Nice ride, different perspective of the gorge.

Robert Shellabarger

One of the most beautiful drives IV done with my wife and kids, lots of look out points, food, fishing and much more

Robert McCutcheon

Just think: a meteor struck not only Greenland, but also the glacial range in Canada at the end of the Younger Dryus Period. It caused catastrophic flooding and a disruption of the miles-deep ice sheet that covered most of North America, inundating the world in 400-foot sea level rise and causing mass extinctions. This is one of the greatest monuments to that cataclysm. The sheer scope of it is nigh-incomprehensible, despite standing in what was once and ocean basin. Epic.

ICE_DOCTOR

I live smack dab in the middle of it and love waking up and stepping out my front door to the the columbia river and oregon mountain range in the background

Shana Sloan-Nocchi Edwards

Loved this drive! So many beautiful sites to see.

Teresa Vaughan

Beautiful, awe inspiring views & crisp clean wind! My only complaint ever is the number of people. Bring your camera, good shoes and the Gorge will treat you right!

Sally Ritthaler

The Gorge is absolutely beautiful. I love all the waterfalls in the Spring, the colors of Fall and if course Multnomah Falls. Lots of hiking trails and beautiful views.

STEPHANIE SHERRELL

My favorite place to hike... Vertical gains make it a good workout... So beautiful with views of the Columbia River Gorge. Many spectacular waterfalls. Lush green ferns and wild flowers among the majestic forest.

Hingle McCringleberry

It's stunning as usual. But the amount of people makes it difficult to enjoy during peak season (as much of Portland and the Oregon Coast has become during peak). Still worth it if you can find parking, turnout in either direction comes up fast and sometimes the lot is full, but there usually is a warning posted prior to the exit if it is. September to April best time to visit as less people are around.

Anita Crow

Beautiful scenery, so many things to do in the gorge during all seasons. Hiking, mountain biking, paddle boarding, wind surfing, driving up to any of the lakes and fishing.

Rosann Garza

Beautiful but crowded! Be prepared to not find parking. Short, easy walk to view it. Morning or sunset would be best for photography because of harsh sunlight and shadow.

Burton Hunter

I love making this stop along the highway in the scenic Columbia Gorge. This natural wonder remains intact after a raging wild-fire recently came so close to taking out everything around this historic landmark. It is indeed a wonder to behold ! Note: if you are on the freeway, the exits to the biggest parking lot are left-hand exits ( between the East & West bound lanes of the freeway ).

Mihai Manitiu

Great place to explore the outdoors both in the summer and the winter. The drive to Mt. Hood is great with a lot of nice views of the gorge and the mountains around. Take time to stop at places along the way to admire the nice scenery. The Columbia river runs along the road and you can have great views of the river. There are also cruises you can take on the river.

Andre Gross

Beautiful year round. Love coming here.

June Sherlock

Over the top. Take the walk, bring a picnic. Have an ice cream cone. Don't order the wraps, they're awful
