REVIEWS OF Talimena State Park IN Oklahoma

Katie K.

Love this state park! The park ranger and office volunteer were very helpful. The State Park store featured unique items; I purchased a bandana that has the part of the Ouachita National Recreation Trail on it (Talimena to Queen Wilhelmina). Trail is very nice and mostly well-marked.

I ride the single track trails here once or twice a year. I wish I could go more often as the trails are challenging with some beautiful scenery. The couple who maintains the park are so friendly and accommodating! With clean bathrooms a hot shower and running water these trails have everything an Enduro rider could ask for.

Don Musgrove

Enjoyed our time at the park although it rained most of the time. The rain was therapeutic and a stress reliever.

For those who are fan of Nature, I believe it’s best time to visit in fall when you can experience the golden color scenery.

keyser soze

Excellent for spring or fall. Been here a few times and never seems to be too busy, which makes it nice. Several hiking trails along the route.

Kern Jackson

Stay here quite a bit when coming through town. There is always a hot shower and clean bathroom every time. The folks who take care of the park are friendly and care about the facility and have been for years. Great trails all around this place as well.

TJ Tipton

Awesome and remarkable place. The camp hosts are the best I have ever seen. Over 200 miles of ATV trails.

Ola J Pyle

Nice place, clean bathrooms, showers, but I think they're closed in winter not sure

Sheryl Kinney

Such a beautiful park. Great for motorcycles, car ride, hiking, photography, history.

Trails need a lot of work. They are so rough they are dangerous to your machine. The campsites and location are great.

Beautiful

Just spent four days riding and clearing the cnt. A lot of trees have fallen across the trail so bring a saw or axe. If you are looking for some extreme atv trail riding this is the place. The trail starts at the campground and you can ride right from your camp site. The park was neat and clean, the park staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the trail system.

Awesome park

This state park was really neat. It had accessible playground and accessible toilet facilities. In addition it was located right on the entrance to a hiking pants which traversed the Talihina mountain ridges. I guess what you call them. It felt very Arkansas-ish, Ozark-ish even in southeast Oklahoma-ish, and I enjoyed it. What is more I am planning a trip to return and to hike the trail and perhaps even do some camping at the state park good job Oklahoma on your state parks.

Dawn C

Very very nice park, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. However we had to cut our trip short due to their tick infestation.

One of the smaller OK state parks. It's usually clean, with plenty of free wood for the firerings. Heated bathrooms with showers, open all year. A good amount of trails, and some wildlife.

Baird Carr

Very happy with the park. Great trails, pretty good facilities and showers.

Good place to camp

Good campground, but the woman who works and loves here has a very bad attitude. Not friendly at all. Once you get past her, then it will be a great experience.

Small park that has what you need, downside it is close to the highway very annoying when camping. Overall great. Free split firewood. Great loving staff. This park is great for hiking but mostly ATVs. Goes with the traffic.

Joe Cool

This is a great state park run by a couple that really cares about the park! The facilities are well kept and clean, and our scout troop was able to work on helping keep the campground clean in exchange for a discount in the camping fee. We worked on our hiking and cooking merit badge while we camped here for a long weekend. I’ve camped in many parks all over the country. While some have outstanding facilities, this one really was well cared for. The shower was cleaned early in the morning, so that one could enjoy a morning hot shower in a fresh bathroom. Reasonable priced, clean, well cared for, and the great on-sight caretaker (and you really should go and meet them!). It’s at the trailhead for the Ouachita Trails, so you could camp and/or hike at this park. There are RV hookup here, and the RV people I’ve met here are all friendly.

Nice small state park strategically located to be the base camp for some of the best hikes, rides and overall outdoor adventures. The guy who runs it is top notch!

Chris M

Great camp site and if you are Hammock camping ask for the Overflow camp site it is perfect for 3-6 people with Hammocks! The onsite staff was super helpful. The firewood was free on site as well.

We decided to take the scenic drive home through the park, and we are very happy we did. It's a beautiful drive.

A lovely, peaceful park, nice play area for the children.

Trails not marked well. Some trails with boulders and trees blocking exit. Because of this it took 10 hours for a 4 hour trip.

This is a really nice place to camp and hike. I did it in early spring before all the crowds and we had the place mostly to ourselves. High up in the hills you have really good views. The hiking can be a little rough if you do not like hills. Primitive camping, bring what you need.

The CNT and other trails have proved to be a lot of fun the last couple days. Today is our fourth and final day here this time but I know we will be returning. The camp host is a very friendly guy and does a great job maintaining the park and being up to date about information on trails and local flora and fauna. It has truly been a great stay.

Agnes DeHart

Peace of mind and clean showers

Beautiful and peaceful

Love this little town and this park! There's nothing to do here but rest and recreate. There is a long off road trail into the woods you can access right from the park. You MUST eat at Pam's diner in Talihena~ it's just what you do when you come here. :) The park is cozy and small, and next to the highway, but it's a cool place. The park manager is a very nice man, and even offered to loan us towels for showering. The bathroom is nice, but the shower itself was very moldy on the last trip in October. I hope they have cleaned that since then. Otherwise, it's a fabulous place to spend a night or a week.

Rick Deaton

Very quiet and laid back great hiking, the very best camp Host, he works his butt off to make the park better.

Derek Shoptaw

Have been camping here the last several years, ideal location for hiking and exploring the local Vistas. The camp hosts always keep this older state park in exceptionally clean condition and have lots of information about distances and approximate time to get to a point and back. Always a #1 destination for me.

Nice place to be there at around the end of October.make sure to check weather as last time when I was there I could only enjoy Mist and nothing .On sunny day of October 27-November 5 you can enjoy the Fall foliage with vibrant colors

Kimberly Noble

A nice park with hiking and ATV trails. Campground doesn't have many sites, but there was no one there when we're visiting. Campground was really close to the highway so you'll get lots of highway noise.

emily stallsmith

Beautiful facility and wonderful gracious hosts! It is an older park and the bathrooms and office could use some updating. But it does a lot with a little. Come in the fall to see the beautiful foliage!

Ryan Hill

This is a very pretty state park, but very small. It has only 10 RV sites, but quite a few other tent sites. The Ouachita Trail, originating in the park, is really good and highly recommended. The park hosts were very nice and helpful. RV sites have electricity and water, but no sewer. There is a convenient dump station.

Beautiful and clean camping grounds, everyone's friendly, smiles on faces. The drive alone the 100% breath-taking. Most people tend to go during the fall, but this place is golden all year. Beautiful overlooks, the animals aren't as afraid than most, which is perfect for taking pictures. I loved the history and side faces at most stops. Don't forget to gas up that the nearest gas station before the drive...it's a long walk if you dont'!

David Bowden

Great portal to the Ouachita National Forest. The staff has been very helpful!

Kaila Kirchner

Well maintained facilities, friendly rangers, nice tent sites. Went out to hike part of the Ouachita Trail and were able to leave our vehicle in the parking lot. The bathrooms had a shower and were much cleaner than we excepted which was very welcome after three days of hiking. The trail is gorgeous although we would have like to know there was a boulder field! Great weekend and will definitely be returning.

Janee Baker

This park is well-maintained and run by a terrific couple. Great dirtbike trail out of here as well.

Ginger Massey

Stopped here for a picnic. Very pretty. Tall trees. Lots of camping spots. Kinda hard to maneuver as the roads are narrow.
