REVIEWS OF National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum IN Oklahoma

Andy Whitt

This Museum is a national treasure it was a treat to visit on free Wednesday. Great artwork.

Tim Ossinger

Great Venue. OKC Chamber Event. Well done.

Tori Moore

I really enjoyed this museum! So much to see and appreciate. Lovely, would go again. Favorite thing I did while visiting OKC!

TJ Corredine

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is truly a treasure in OKC! It is a wonderfully done historical and art museum. It has a tremendously done re-enactment village that felt like it could’ve been in Disney World thanks to all of its wonderful detail. When we visited this past summer they had a beautiful western art exhibit that was second to none. Highly recommend!!

Jose Aguirre

Great variety of pieces displayed. Sequencing of displays/areas seems to flow well. Foot traffic moves at a steady pace. Luckily managed to go on a free admission day as well.

Devon Taylor

There is so much to see here. They have some amazing exhibits. The artwork is exquisite. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the information they had on Native Americans, Cowboys, and the West. This place is definitely worth the stop!

A Childers

Can I give this place 10 stars??? They have free days every so often (first Sat of the month, I believe, if you have kids and get there before noon) so we go a few times a year. We've also paid for admission before, to take family members there when they visit from out of town. If you live in Oklahoma, you really need to visit this museum at LEAST once every few years. The art collection is more impressive than most art museums. The hands on learning areas for kids are a treat. The indoor Old West town is stunning. The Native American art and culture collections are respectful, tasteful, and moving. Expect to spend at least 4 hours here to at least walk through everything. If you want to actually see and do everything the museum offers, you better plan for a full day. They do not allow food or drink inside the museum, but we usually leave a lunch or snacks in our car. Drinking fountains are located throughout the museum, and they even have a museum cafe open over lunch.

Larry Hawkins

A wonderful place to take the family or view all by yourself. Incredible artwork and cowboy and Native American artifacts are displayed. Plan to take at least 3 hours to take in all of the exhibits.

Ashley Allen

So excited for the childrens section to open in the spring! Definitely a cool place to stop by

DS B

A very well-done museum...and IT’S FREE! Several exhibits filling many rooms. And there were lots of interactive [photo op, coloring, crafty] experiences for both adults and kids. There’s a movie theater with a movie that plays at 1pm daily (with free popcorn). Great gift shop too!

J England

This is a great museum! It is more than just cowboys and rodeos, it is America and Americans! One of the best museums I have ever been to, as the exhibits and the collection is extensive and professionally displayed.

Sandra Wood

Cannot say enough about this fabulous museum. Will definitely return. Hope it doesn't feel like the meat locker it was on the day we were there.

Tommie Collins

We visited the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum today. A group of Seniors(6) from the Tulsa Creek Indian Community center drove to Norman and then to OKC . Both were great. The National Cowboy Museum was right down our alley. If you get the chance, No, make it a priority, to visit both of these as soon as possible. But don't try to do both in one day. The NCM is a must. It's Awesome. I intend to go back real soon.

Katy Lipsey

Amazing and beautiful place! This is very family friendly and educational for all ages. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable! This is a must stop in Oklahoma City!

Susan C Ide

Awesome place to look at and tour around. Everyone should visit a few times.

Honest Reviewer

Very well maintained and informative. We spent the whole afternoon here and were not once bored. We had to rush through the last few sections as the closing time was nearing, else we would have spent another hour or two more at this wonderful museum.

Barbara Castro

It is very well organized and contains a good variety of western artifacts and art.

Darryl Rich

Came here after hearing about it in Apple News as a must-see sight in OK City, and I have to agree it is. The museums is a combination art museum (western and native american - both recent and past), history museum on cowboys and western life (including an exhibit on guns of the west, and western TV and film stars/shows-which was my favorite), and the National Rodeo Hall of Fame. We spent 3 hours and could have spent more. It is well laid out, spacious and modern.

Ethan Bavido

A very pleasant and educational experience. Looking forward to bringing my children next time. :)

Nikki Smith

I’ve been to quite a few museums in my life and never felt a need to write a review, but this museum deserves 5 stars. I visited this museum in 2015, and I was impressed then and I am still impressed today. The layout of exhibits and the amount of information is just amazing. Learning experience is guaranteed. I hope in the future there will be more exhibits that will attract crowds because this place for sure deserves it.

Janet D.

Lots of history to enjoy. Family friendly with great AC. :-) We went on a very HOT day. Some areas are currently under construction. Look forward to going back to see the changes.

charlotte pruitt

Lots of interesting artifacts and art. To see everything plan on 2-3 hours.

Chester Dover

Learned alot . Cool place for family trip.

T Bishop

We love museums and we enjoy learning about history so this was a fantastic place to learn about the history of the cowboy, cowboy culture, and some about our native American heritage. They had some stunning photography and paintings, as well as some interactive exhibits for children. Throughout a good portion of the year they also offer free entry on Wednesdays!

Chelsea Graf

Can't believe we didn't go sooner! Can't wait to go back! Beautiful museum with an incredible story to tell of both the duality and connectivity between the lives of natives and settlers.

Charles Armstrong

The place is definitely not worth the price, there's more paintings then anything, there's only a couple things there that's relevant to the name

Chris Kay

One of the best museums we have ever visited! We could have spent a lot more time here. Great displays. We highly recommend this museum!

Hewitt Historica

Read Krakel's book on the formative years of the"Cowboy Hall of Fame" and wanted to visit for years. Stunned by the size and quality of the art/artifacts/imprints on display. Highly recommend planning a whole day here to any Western collector or art enthusiast.

Jim Smith

Tremendous museum and displays. Great photo opportunities and beautiful art.

Gary Daniel

It's been a long time since I've been here. It was call the Cowboy Hall of Fame then. It was very interesting and has changed a lot. I enjoyed it very much.

Adam Ford

An incredible collection of realist southwestern paintings. I went in expecting a fun historical museum of relics of the westward movement. I did not expect NC Wyeth and Remington paintings. This is a true gem and I hope to make it back again.

Katherine Juden

Very nice exhibits. The staff was very knowledgeable. My 3 and 5 year olds got bored quick, but the rest of us enjoyed it.

Abbie Pantoja

This place is the best even as a young girl i enjoyed coming here. Its so nice and the paintings are amazing. Lots pf things to do for kids too

Big Al

I spent 5 hours here and could have stayed longer. Great place and amazing museum.

Carol Frank

Beautiful paintings and sculptures of the Old West. Exquisite hand tooled saddle. Need to be honest about disasterous treatment of Native Americans.

Sean Slavick

Lots of interesting items to see. It's a huge place so plan on spending several hours.

Addie Eubanks

Beautiful, educational, with lots of areas to meander about. Many different exhibits that vary from authentic 1800's items and clothes, statues and paintings, two mini theaters, a wonderful children's area (under contruction in 2019), and a life-size western town complete with buildings to walk through.

Alonzo Healy

Outstanding collection of western art and paintings. Huge selection of cowboy artifacts, firearms, western actors and more. If you like western culture, you'll love this museum and all it has to offer. A fantastic combination of art and culture. Spent 6 hours roaming the galleries. The paintings were breathtaking. A great way to spend a rainy day. I highly recommend attending for all ages.

Horatio Hewat

This is one of the greatest museums I’ve ever been to, but it’s almost too big with too many intriguing things to look at. I’m good at a museum for about 3-4 hours then I start getting burnt out. I wasn’t even halfway through the museum and still hadn’t been outside. If I could, I’d take my time over 2-3 days the next time I visit. It really is an incredible collection. If only every museum covered their subjects and surrounding culture so well.

Najika Sama

Always a mellow time, love the art, discoverable coloring/activity/reading stations and puzzles for kids. Quiet. They have a cafe and gift store too.

Patricia Munsch

I took the grandkids but last time we went there seemed to be about half of the exhibits were shut down. Aling with having to park 2 blk away in a field

Judy Buzzetti-Brooke

This is an amazing museum covering all facets of western life including film. Excellent art, sculpture and western paraphernalia. Really liked the western town and buffalo exhibit.

Angela Hopkins

Beautiful, enormous museum filled with interesting and beautiful artifacts and art. I really loved the time we spent there and would recommend it to anyone!

We were looking for a place to visit while staying in Oklahoma City. This museum incorporates art, history, military, and cinema while telling the story of the cowboy and the West. Thoroughly enjoyed our three hours there.

Paul G Buckner

We love the artwork more han anything but the artifacts and cowboy memorabilia are simply amazing. The staff and volunteers are always helpful and courteous!

Judi Hoffer

My husband and I both thought this place was great. Besides seeing artists we knew, there were so many more. Clothing, culture of both Native Americans and Cowboys. Well laid out. We liked seeing the area for movies, media and actors. Lots of exhibits. Also enjoyed the western town set up. My senior legs were glad for all the seating throughout the museum.

Diane Berube

Great collection of cowboy paintings! The facility is quite nice as well and although it was over 100f when we were there, we still manages to take a stroll around the grounds and pay a visit to Buffalo Bill. Oh, and they have the largest collection of unique barbed wire anywhere on planet earth. Yippee ki yi yay! Get yo buns to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum!

Anita Blackford

Great place to visit. Educational

Grant Spinks

Ya can't go through Oklahoma city without stopping by the National cowboy & western museum. All the way from NJ and one of our most memorial experiences. Perfect location for all ages with some thing of interest. Very clean and friendly staff. A don't miss partner!

ashley kelley

I'm not the biggest fan of Western culture and history but thought I'd check it out for something to do. I was pleasantly surprised how awesome, interesting and fun this musuem is. Plus, it's so beautiful with statues, art and really cool exhibits. You will be a Western fan when you leave.

Brandon Huxford

Pretty awesome venue. Only went for an awards banquet but interested me enough that I'll be taking the family soon.

Ally Kat

Nice educational museum that has a wealth of information and items to see.

J

This museum is one of the recommended places in OKC. I visit here after the memorial museum. I agreed that they have many collections but it’s really hard to catch what they really wanna tell or show us. Need some guided audios or more detail descriptions for each section. I might be so fascinated by my visit on the memorial museum, specially how they deliver the entire story to us. But anyway, I really hope they can improve their exhibitions, layouts, and storytelling. Honestly I don’t know how this one got that much high rating from visitors.

Pamila Wilson

This is an amazing place. Lots of history and beautiful things. Would definitely go again.

Suzanne Morris

Great venue for meeting. Very nice lunch.

Riaj Mahamud

Popularly known as National cowboys Museum. I just loved the Museum especially the cultural heritage of indigenous peoples. The day we visited the Museum, we were entertained by the flute, solo and group dance and singing of native Oklahoman. The performances were mesmerizing. The museum is very beautiful and gigantic. One can easily spend 2/3 hrs here in the Museum.

Logan Nitzel

This place has changed so much since I was a kid, but it's basically Graceland for an Oklahoman. My girlfriend grew up on a landrun ranch, and actually seeing a museum devoted to her family's lifestyle made this place practically her Mecca. We will now return bi-monthly

Lois Emmons

Wicked awesome museum. So much to see. I went twice and still did not have time to see all the art, photographs and exhibits of saddles and cowboy AND cowgirl artifacts. Huge collection of Native American artifacts and art as well. Totally worth the time spent. The exhits drew me in...

Julie Fees

Very big took over an HR to do less than half. But very cool educational and beautiful artifacts!! And art

Andrea Gallegos

It was an experience so much better than I imagine it would be... Kid friendly. Very organized and clean. The statues are amazing as well as the portraits. And its really HUGE. You could really learn some pretty amazing interesting history here. I learned a lot while enjoying it.

Ken Behrens

Beautiful facility. A must see for anyone who loves art and history, especially of the American West

Jill Gregory

This was an amazing stop on our way home to TN. My girls ages 8/10 enjoyed the museum. You will need a light jacket because it is a lil cold. The Old Town and Movie Theater we my favorite.

Ethel Schiller

Great great place to visit and learn about our Heritage!!! I recommend that everyone visit this place and allow 4 hours to do it justice!!

James LeGoullon

The cowboy museum exhibit is great. If you want to be able to spend more time looking at it then find your way past all the art displays. Keep going to the back. You will finely find your way to the actual cowboy museum stuff. Then if you have time go back to the artwork.

Kalie Chambers

The western part and the garden was my absolute favorite. This place was worth the money no doubt.

Katy Boyer

This museum displays a mixture of art, history, and artifacts that can be enjoyed by anyone. I especially enjoyed the statues and the saddles.

Jostein Myklebust

Nice museum. Would have liked if the cafe had stayed up a little longer.

Dulce Watson

What a great place.. The staffs from cashiers to tour guides are so warm and friendly they greeted us and gave informations about the place, offered to take photos with my family and very helpful when i need a room to breastfeed my 10 month baby.. wonderful experience we highly recommend!

Anita Birkett

Brilliant place, so much to see would highly recommend

Dr.Debasree Biswas

First, it is Huge! Second, it is amazing. There are amazing volunteers! Again I did not take any pictures with them or of them! Sorry. But these people are memorable! There are rotating exhibitions too! The Galleries are serially organised and the dioramas are beautiful. Specially the recreation of a township. There are selfie spots marked out to take the perfect selfies! And there's a ton of activities for children. Go and take kids with you! Learn and Have Fun! Oh! There's a well stocked Gift Shop with pretty pretty jewelleries!!

Rosemarie Brown

Besides having just a wonderful collection of art and artifacts, this museum is wheelchair accessible. My 9 year old, who uses a wheelchair, was especially thrilled to go through Prosperity Junction, a mock frontier town. She loved looking in the windows of each location. We actually went through it 3 times because she loved the sound of the wooden planks under her chair and the fact that she could look in every window. I’m so glad we visited! It’s such a cool collection, especially the parts about the entertainment industry and rodeos. Definitely worth our time and money!

Amir Hossein

The quality and details of this museum is impressive. I learned so much about country life and cowboy/cowgirl culture here. It's organized so professionally. Just as good as great DC museums. Easily half a day needed or even more to see most of it. Highly recommended.

Quentin Garrett

This was absolutely an amazing museum! They also let me and my whole family in for free since I'm military. I think it was a summer promo but very cool and a great experience. Definitely enjoyed it!

Tom V

Great place to visit while in Ok. They are doing a bit of construction so might want to call to make sure what you wanted to see is open

Grady Goins

Loved it. 8 years since my last visit

Doug Murphy

We loved this place. If you are staying in OKC or just passing through, I highly recommend!

Rick Newton

Man! 3 hours goes by fast here. The exhibits were very good. Several of the halls were closed. But there is more than enough to do here. Artwork is fantastic! The display on cowboy movies and TV was very good. Great museum and staff!

Nita McCord

Its spacious, well appointed and bright. With a lovely outside patio garden area. Their banquets hall is high also!

Gus Garcia

Well worth the stop. The Trails End statue really stands out. The artwork is beautiful, we recommend stopping and spending a few hours here.

Andrea L

If I could, I’d take my time over 2-3 days the next time I visit. It really is an incredible collection. In addition to the lovely artwork, I really enjoyed the exhibits dedicated to different movie stars showcasing their careers in western films. They had some stunning photography and paintings, as well as some interactive exhibits for children. The museum is very beautiful and gigantic. There’s a movie theater with a movie that plays at 1pm daily (with free popcorn). Great gift shop too! Definitely a must see stop in Oklahoma for locals or tourists! There are small to huge sculptures, fine art oils, lots and lots of guns of all sorts.

Ted Klingbeil

took my esl students there for a cultural experience. it was nice. had many photo opportunities.

Daniel Oesterman

I stopped in with the artist friend of mine and I expected to be underwhelmed as I’m not into spending a day in an art museum. The intricacy of the difference in many very kinds of art touch me to the center of my being. At first I was mentioning to my friend that some of the artwork seemed unrefined and clunky and that’s when he mentioned to me that that piece is not meant to be looked at from 3 feet away. It was in the grand room so I walked across the room to view it and it almost looked as if it was 3-D just popping into life! I thoroughly enjoyed it and it didn’t help that they had a display of old west firearms that time. All in all I would say it is a must see!

Brian Babcock

Very cool museum with so much history to offer. Much bigger and more to see than expected!

Curtis Hiller

Fun collection of art and western memorabilia displayed with museum care and quality. Friendly staff. 2.5 hours to visit.

Lee kersteter

What a beautiful place, allow yourself time to see everything. John Wayne selection was the reason we went but also enjoyed the rest of the place

Alyssa Medaris -Ferguson

Great place for kids, especially the western town. Small children probably won't like yhe tours, though.

Jack Dobson

Tremendous amount of history and a wonderful gift shop. Look forward to visiting again.

ckay best

Wonderful museum; overflowing with both historic western displays and contemporary artist works..don't miss this site if visiting OK City!

Carol Blakeman

The most extensive art collection, featuring new and old western art and sculpture. Also has town and a collection of movie memorabilia from all the classic western movies.

L TejadaSanchez

Spacious amount of displays. Paintings, sculptures, and a creative way to make kids have fun. They can color, play I spy, puzzles of painting are the painting location. Every area is covered. Security guards are friendly and help you interact with exhibits. Selfies stations and props to help. Welcoming people at the entrance and helpful to both kids and the elderly. There was some construction going on outside but it did not interfere with the museum. Grill restaurant on one of the wings.

Patty Capella

Huge sized lunch at their inside grill AND it's good tasting food. Great place to learn. Fun place to see. Busy but big enough to handle it. Glad we took time to check it out - a lot of fun for a reasonable price.

Bill Hargrave

For an east coast cowboy from upstate NY, this was a trip to heaven. Plan to spend a day here, it is beautiful and there is a lot to see

Tom Stull

The place really isn't a museum or a cowboy hall of fame. What It is is a western art gallery. The paintings and sculpture on display are very well done and do depict some aspects of the old west. We did enjoy our visit but it was not what we expected.

Matthew C. Newton

I don't know exactly what I was expecting for this museum but I was completely blown away. The museum itself is huge so plan a couple hours or longer. There's everything from beautiful oil paintings to native American regalia to anything and everything that has to do with cowboys. I learned a lot and had a great time.

Theresa Bird

I’m not normally into museums but this museum is awesome! There are so many interesting things to see and the paintings are magnificent (I’m not normally into art either). If I ever get back to that area I would make sure to go back again. As far as I’m concerned it’s the best thing to do in Oklahoma City and a must see.

Rachel Mortensen

Enormous museum; my boyfriend and I didn't even have time to walk the entire place! Lots and lots of beautiful paintings and other artwork! There's an original, although highly restored, stagecoach at the entrance to the exhibits that you can actually sit in. In addition to the lovely artwork, I really enjoyed the exhibits dedicated to different movie stars showcasing their careers in western films. My boyfriend and I will definitely come back as soon as we can to see the other half of the museum that we weren't able to see our first time around!

Ryan Traffanstedt

Very nice museum! Beautiful artwork & displays! There's a neat area that's like an old Town that's really fun to walk thru. The kids especially love it! There's also a children's area in the museum that has alot of hands on activities! Walking outside the museum is nice as well. Beautifully landscaped & neat cowboy sculptures!

Heidi Tressler

Every thing cowboy that you can imagine! It was so interesting to see everything they had. The different types of barb wire alone amazed me. Of course, the cowboys in the movies was great. They even had famous bulls buried in back.

Elizabeth Pflaum

Beautiful museum! I love it and will be coming back.

Caren T

Amazing art and displays take you back in time with amazing detail! Huge museum so plan a day or even 2 to take it all it. From beautiful art works, stunning sculptures to original historical artifacts/clothing/memorabilia and even amazing outdoor displays. Don't miss walking through the recreated old town! If you're in town, this is a must see!

Thebardgaming

I am a not scout and I got to camp here for a day. It was very fun until night when it got very stormy and we had to go underground. Gave me a panic attack. But I loved it, the. Chuck wagon festival is amazing because you get to do so many things.

Carrie and Mike Calhoun - Maxwell

Very good museum. Fairly priced. Great way to spend a rainy afternoon. The exhibits & displays offered a lot of variety. Some art, some history, some demonstrative/participatory ... our whole family found something to engage in.

Angelica G

Great museum! I enjoyed it very much, the map was easy enough to follow too. The first half was pretty much just paintings and other art depicting various American Indian scenes with descriptions beside them. There were several rooms full of this and it was a little tedious to read them all to be honest. But it is very in depth which I give credit for. I particularly enjoyed the Rodeo section! Lots to learn about cowboys through the years. Would highly recommend visiting!

Johnathan Friedrich

Tons of things to see! Amazing collection of history and culture. Lots of art on display. My whole family enjoyed visiting this place so much that we ran out of time before getting to view everything. To top it off, it's free!

Devyn Smith

Worth the money, lots of art and sculpture and follows the cowboy throughout history all the way up until the rodeo. Lots of information regarding the Native Americans as well. They have discounts for students, children, and seniors.

Denise Díaz

Great place to go and relax and see beautiful paintings and sculptures. Price of entry not too expensive and it's just such a calm place to enjoy your morning or afternoon in a friendly enviornement.

me Peterson

Great place to take the kids. Make sure you find the old town inside. It's a night time setting and really cool.

Helfried Copper

Great collection of western art, super friendly staff.

niyaf alkadhem

Love the gift shop always have new stuff , have the good price gifts and expensive ones as well

Norma Martinez

So much art! Much larger than I expected. I'd say, at least 3 hours should be planned. Worth a visit if you're passing through the central hub of America!

VuduVince

Lots of wonderful art. bit of a maze but thats so you stop and enjoy it. Be sure to make plenty of time as it is worth it to see each piece. Gift shop also has really nice stuff that would make great gifts as opposed to mugs or magnets.

Jay Bingham

Very well done, awesome collections. Wish we had more time to spend here. Thouroughly enjoyed the Russell and the Remington collections.

It's Ambee

This place is amazing. My kids love it. There is not a whole lot the kids can touch but it is still really neat to look at. They have an outside area where kids can run around and check out statues. There is a separate area for kids to try on things and touch. (yes I also tried on some cowboy gear) They have floor puzzles throughout the gallery that kids can put together. I loved it. My kids love it. They also have a craft day!

Joe Dirt

This place is NOT A MUSEUM!!!! I say again, not a museum.... at the very least it is an art gallery. While it exhibits beautiful works of art (from the past couple decades) it doesn't warrant the title of a museum. If art is your sort of thing, then this is the place for you. As for me, I'll stick with the traditional museums that exhibit bits of the past that made an impact on history. Meanwhile, you could enjoy your bread and wine at this place... they really should change the name.

Bonnie House

Wow! My first visit and wish I had arrived earlier in the day as I needed more than the 2 hours that remained before closing. There are small to huge sculptures, fine art oils, lots and lots of guns of all sorts. Saddles from plain to wonderfully tooled leather to lavishly decorated with sterling silver. One section had great displays of Western Movies. Kinda fun as well as informative. I really love all of the Native American artifacts, clothing and pottery. Descriptions are informative and easy to understand. I will visit again my next time in OKC, as I need to see the rest of the galleries!

Matt DeDonder

I thought it was very interesting. The layout was a bit confusing and didn't flow well from one section to the next and you must back- track to get to all the sections. The map was vague and didn't give an accurate description. Also, I was disappointed with the kid areas. They were a bit hard to find. I would recommend the front desk attendants circle the kids areas when selling kids tickets. The scavenger hunt was ok. My kids are 7, 6 and 3 and it was a bit hard for them. Maybe a more age appropriate scavenger hunt.

John Draper

Amazing exhibits, great paintings and sculptures. I never knew there were so many kinds of spurs, saddles and barbed wire samples. Loved best? Hats of Western heroes...Artifacts and apparel of Native American nations, and the Cavalry exhibit. WELL worth your trip!

Emiliano B

Kinda fun as well as informative. I really love all of the Native American artifacts, clothing and pottery. . We actually went through it 3 times because she loved the sound of the wooden planks under her chair and the fact that she could look in every window. I learned a lot and had a great time. To top it off, it's free! Plan a long visit! Reasonable howdy access, too.

Ginny Rice

Absolutely incredible place. Need to spend a whole day there learning about cowboys. It was super neat and kids would love it!!

margaret hobbs

So interesting. Lots and lots of of bronze statues. So much western history.

Vince Hyatt

This is a very unique place with so many things to see. The volunteers that work here are awesome and are very eager to answer any questions or give a brief history lesson on the artifacts or Native American culture. We will definitely be back. Also military gets in for free plus 3 guests I believe!

Nayana JLMU

Something for everyone in the family to enjoy! My son's especially love the old cowboy town! Gift shop is nice and a great spot to find tourist items.

Brian Christian

Great experience. The kids loved it too! There are activities now to get the young ones involved: puzzles, drawing, coloring pages and a scavenger hunt.

Janna Jones

Had a great time. You can't see everything in one day.

Benita Whitney

Amazing artifacts. Children friendly, food was awesome. Hospitality was superb. Very nice setup. Attended the Allegiance Federal Credit Union 56 Annual Meeting. I would recommend this establishment. Overall had a great time.

Adam C

Medium-to-large facility, approximately two-to-three hours to visit inside and outside areas. Free parking. Admission $12.50 for adults. Museum is a combination of art-exhibits (paintings and sculptures), historical artifacts, a couple of enclosed video-theaters, and a fairly impressive "recreation" of a western town inside of the building. The "recreation" was the most impressive portion of the museum and allowed for a lot of photos; it also unfortunately made the rest of the facility a little dim in comparison. The art exhibits range from spectacular to average, and many of the paintings are for sale (often thousands of dollars). If you're in-town, this is worth a morning.

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is absolutely beautiful. There is art, an old west town, a section for western tv and movie stars and a section on rodeos among other things. This would be a great place to take out of town visitors.

This was a fun stop for the kids. On the first Saturday of each month it's free. They offered fun activities for the kids. The museum had so many fun things to see and they where able to get into o e of the wagons. The scavenger hunt was everyone's favorite thing to do. We could have spent the whole day there.

We came as part of a field trip with my daughter's 3rd grade class. I love coming here and looking at all of the art and artifacts from a bygone era. The students were engaged and asking questions. The areas outside are beautiful and well maintained. The art work is stunning, be it on canvas or sculpture. If you are into the western way of life or style this is a must visit place for you.

So much fun. and they honored the stones falling out and the ring and the sizes being wrong. Love this place ... so much hostory

John Soriano

The staff was very helpful in pointing out where to go first and very knowledgeable of the exhibits on display. Plan at least 2-3 hours if you really want to see and read everything. Take some time to go outside and check out the trees planted as they are all different and native to the US.

Sandra Jones

What a fabulous place to visit! We have been here 3 time and this time with our grandson and nephew. They throughly enjoyed everything they saw. The volunteer pointed out all the neat rooms and what they contain. Awesome...a must see.

Aaron McRee

A great place to visit and the locals seem to forget about it. If you're from out of town it's a must-see

Erik Lilly

Great educational museum experience. We only had time to stop in for an hour or two, could have easily spent all day examining all the displays. A truly legendary piece of cross-country Americana. The gift shop is beyond unreasonably expensive. Mass-produced "artisan" items that are not local or unique.

Andy Mejia

The museum was absolutely fantastic. They had a wonderful art exhibition called "Prix de West" showcasing western artists, several historical exhibits, a pop culture exhibit, an outdoors garden to walk through, and an entire indoor small town to walk through. They also have a gift shop and a cafe. Cool place that you can tell a lot of work and care went into.

Brandon Barrett

We arrived late in the day so only had about an hour to spend in the museum, but really enjoyed our brief visit. We spent most of our time viewing the beautiful western themed art in the museum's numerous galleries. The museum staff were knowledgeable and helpful, and the gift shop is large with a wide variety of souvenirs available. We saw just enough of the museum to know that we want to come back and spend more time enjoying the exhibits.

Don Marquardt

Wonderful collection, very hi quality museum, exhibits. Wide ranging historical and cultural, from Indian heritage to cowboy movies. Plan a long visit! Reasonable howdy access, too.

John Potter

Great venue, great Art, warm and welcoming staff.

Excellent collection, but good luck trying to enjoy it with the all the crying babies, screeching todddlers, blathering and chortling adults, chattering staff, yelling mothers, and rowdy children. Too little docent presence to inhibit the ill-mannered, inconsiderate, and those who can’t seem to manage Inside Voice or realize they are not in their own living room. Garden could be a lovely oasis. It is small but well designed. Sadly, it is poorly maintained—multiple garden hoses lying about, ugly signs, many dead and dying plants.

Fred Bern

Absolutely wonderful, highly recommend it if you love history and art.

Nick Henson

First vist. Great exhibits. We spent 2 hours there and could have spent more. The only negative was the flow of the exhibits was a little odd. I felt like we may have missed some items due to no clear path and multiple entrances into each room. Highly suggest a map.

Ivan Tsitovich

Must visit. Very atractive gallery. Overall best museum in city about Western art and cowboy culture.
