We offer you all the feddbacks of people like you who purchased the services of Museum of the Great Plains (Tourist Attraction) in the area close to Oklahoma.
At the present the firm gets a score of 4.7 stars out of 5 and this score has been based on 372 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is nearly the best, and it's founded on a very high number of scores, so we may be quite sure that the valuation is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to value when they've done well, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to write scores when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Tourist Attraction belongs to the category of Museum.
This place is awesome! They cover a very broad time spectrum and for a small museum it is very well done. Be sure to visit the displays outside and the fort. Tim Poteet is an awesome interpreter and you won't find anyone more knowledgeable about their respective subject matter.
This was a great place to come, especially for children. I really liked the photos of the native American that were on display.
Great fun for all ages. An awesome educational experience to in rich your history knowledge, also a great way to pass some hpurs away with the lids during the long hot summer days. Get a year pass amd on your second visit ypu should start saying on cover charge, not pricey at all for thw memories u make. Ask about other local attractions and up coming events.
Our kids had an amazing time, a must stop if your in the area
Smaller museum but one of the best in OK and it's a part of the OMN. Displays were excellent, Jana the museum guide was nice, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Although a 2 hour drive for us, we will be going back
Loved it I loved interacting with the stuff in the museum. Its a very nice place for kids also
Neat museum with super friendly workers. Was great talking to the gentlemen outside by the old cabin/fort. Got a few good laughs in with them.
Place was really cool RDR2 fans get ur butts out there and check it out
Friendly staff. Very interactive exhibits.
What a great place, with all of the hands on activities your kids will love it. The tornado simulator maybe a bit much for younger children but as for the rest it's a must. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The souvenir store was a bit small and as a result it didn't offer much. Overall it's a place where learning is fun.
Lawton is fortunate to have this Museum. Enough hands on activities for kids, enough educational qualities to satisfy parents. Kids can pretend to be pioneers coming to the plains, run a general store, operate a printing press, and many more options. There is an upstairs area dedicated to science and creative activities. Annual family passes are available.
I went by myself and loved it. I wish my grandkids were with me!
Wow what an experience. So much to do as everything is interactive. You can literally spend a whole day here. Impressed
Great interactive museum for kids and adults. Spent a hot/cold day exploring this wonderful place. My adult daughters got to be kids again with their little nieces.
This is one of the BEST places to take the family! It is a very hands-on, fun and educational experience for kids and adults of ALL ages. This was our second trip, and we will continue to come back every few years as our kids grow. They love it... and so do we!!!
I was there for my son's wedding. It's a very nice place.
Excellent museum. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very well put together and high quality exhibits.
Glad I stopped in for a visit. It is a great museum with interesting and hands-on experience. I really enjoyed the Tornado experience. The folks at the trading outpost replica were very knowledgeable about the history. Very interesting to hear them talk about the place. Worth the stop if you are near.
Wow! This is a really cool museum. We visited with 4 adults and 5 children ages 1-11. We all had a great time. The exhibits are all interactive so all of us had a great time. It's also very educational. I learned a lot about this area But I was most impressed with the quality of each exhibit. They must have some very talented curators. There were so many beautiful and fascinating details. The tornado exhibit was especially moving. I'm really grateful we visited. It is well worth making the trip.
Could not recommend this museum more highly. Hands-on, recently renovated, amazing stuff, best 4D exhibit I have ever seen in my life, bug exhibit... It was so much fun. Plan to spend the whole day there. You get to rope a wooden steer! Best day ever.
Loved it... The kids did too.
We were visiting our son graduating from Fort Sill. Great museum! Friendly people. Interesting displays. A lot of activities for kids as well.
Too much money to walk through they need to make it for donations in my opinion
Super cool place and very educational. Good stuff about the Great Plains of our country.
Attended wedding reception ,so the photos are not mine to post, but the venue was incredible!
Very friendly staff. Very informative. Great experience.
It is a fun museum for everyone! Dinosaurs, weather, native American traditions, early American life, and fun activities around every corner! One of the best museums and places to learn.
Pricey but worth it. We had alot of fun
Amazing. We spent a couple hours and the kids didn't get to everything. I love love love all the hands on exhibits. The tornado simulator seemed vividly real. It was so good that we bought the family membership on the way out.
We love visiting here! It's very hands on. My kids live there tornado room and the general store they can play in. The trading Post they gave set up outside now is awesome. The guys who run it are great with the kids and very informative. I'd definitely recommend checking it out.
Drove 2 hrs for our 1st visit and was quite impressed. Wished we had known of this place when our kids were young. It's quite educational and LOTS of hands-on exhibits. Kids can go into a tipi (correct spelling) and feel all the animal hides from skunk to badger to coyote. They have a buffalo on the floor who's hide lifts up and all the inside parts of it are visible for you to take apart and around the outside on the floor the parts are labeled so you know what they were used for. They can learn how to lasso a model cow and practice. They can put together letters on a magnetic board and make their own brand for cattle (see photo). They can go into a general store, pick up a basket that has a grocery list in it, pick up a bag of money and fill up their basket while inside and pay at the register. They can make a bead pattern with what looks like checkers on a board representing beadwork by the Kiowa Indians. You get the point. SO much to do, so awesome and fun for kids! The other really neat exhibit was the Terrible Tuesday Tornado Theater you can sit inside. It holds very few people, maybe 10 or 15, and is very realistic. It has old footage from the 1979 tornadoes that came through Wichita Falls and Lawton and you hear the voices of people who went through it and the whole place shakes like you're in the cellar and the lights flicker. It would not be good for someone who's been traumatized by a tornado or for small children. There's also an old train, train depot, old farm implements, and a fort outdoors to visit. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because the guide map is unreadable. The print for each exhibit is so small and stretched out that it's impossible to read so it does you no good. They really need to invest the time and money into making a large fold-out map. After all, a map is an integral part to touring a museum.
Very good place to have fun and look at all the amazing history .
A most interesting place. Interactively engaged activities for kids of all ages. Great exhibits from days gone by an escape into a time when life was before internet. Learn and explore the Great Plains. Sit inside a storm celler and experience a tornado passing over you. Outside step back into the old west. Go inside a real blacksmith shop .....see and touch the " iron horse" massive in its glory. Be ready to spend several hours if you see it all ....but you'll be so absorbed it will seem like 5 minutes.
Great place to take your kiddos
Great children’s museum. Plenty of things for the kids, and they usually have one rotating exhibit that keeps the museum new and interesting. Never knew it was geared towards kids until a friend told me about it. Definitely worth the trip!
Lovely museum, and the staff was friendly and went out of their way to help me.
Wonderful childhood memories here, only got better. Tornado exhibit worth admission.
Good for the family. Plenty of kids hands on stuff to do.
This is a great museum that is very hands on and informative. Great for kids to learn and take home a few things that they create themselves. The train in their outdoor exhibit is really neat to see! Just be careful with the wasps that are outside. We did get stung because we were not aware of our surroundings.
We love this place! Love the new remodeled areas, good stuff for kids and adults. Staff is wonderful. If you live in the Lawton area, you can buy a membership here and add on a package to get entrance to several other museums in the state including the Science Museum in OKC. It's cheaper that way than just buying a membership to just the OKC one.
Excellent hands-on activities for children of all ages. Fun place to learn about the history of this area. The Trading Post replica is very interesting and Mr. Poteet, the historical interpreter, is a walking encyclopedia. East to spend 3 or 4 hours here and a very reasonable admission price.
Great place to visit lots of cool things to see and do
Love taking my daughter here. She has so much fun learning and playing with everything there is to offer.
My kids 1 and 6 had a great time here. Lots to explore and learn
This place is so awesome, I took my 32 year old daughter and her boyfriend here, and omg, we had the most fun, this museum has "ALOT" of exciting things that you can do and see, if you are looking for something that the whole family can do together, then you will not have to look anywhere else, it would be so easy to spend that whole day here. and the price is $10 for adults, very well worth the money, I differently will go back one day. And be sure to visit the gift shop, love it, I loved it very much.
We have a yearly membership for the past two years go here once or twice a week and my kids have not gotten tired of it. Great starter museum now when we travel and ask if they want to go to a museum they r excited.
What an amazing museum! We had a blast! We didn't even get to see the entire place before it closed! Tornado theater with sound, lighting and vibrating effects! Very interactive. Kept my 2 year olds attention too! It was great to be able to read about important native Americans of this area. We will definitely be back over and over again! Can't wait to take our visiting family here!
Great place to visit!!!
Great museum, really used to like the locals discount day. Much easier to take a handful of kids all throughout the winter before the price was raised. It is worth the admission regardless. Just used to go twice a month at least. Now go once a year.
Very interesting, lots of interactive displays. Very kid friendly.
Very interesting history, informative. Tornado exhibit is cool, a little eerie...cool effects. I liked it
This is a wonderful place for the whole family!
My kids love this place.
Fascinating place to visit. Plan to visit again in the future.
Great way to learn something I thought I knew
Very impressive exhibits inside. Be sure to catch the re-enactment of daily life in the trading post outside.
Cool place to see Lots of interactive exhibits for kids and adults
Outstanding displays of Indian life. Pleased by the 1830-1850 outside fort encampment. The Trading Post was authentic and elaborate. Surprised by the 'hands on' early 1900's rooms showing typical local newspaper, leather shop, general store, doctor's office. With the kid's play/ learn areas on the second floor, it was like 3 museums in one.
This is a spacious well kept museum. The exhibits are informative. Some are interactive. It is fairly inexpensive.
One of the must do things in Lawton!
We bought a family membership here and have been several times. My kids (ages 9, 7, and almost 4) all love different aspects of it as there is so much to do, including areas to just play. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the restrooms are always clean, and there is a room for traveling exhibits so there is always something new to see and do.
This place is rich with history.
Fun four or five hours! We kept trying to tear ourselves away to get to a function, but kept doing one more exhibit! Fun! Bring the kids!
Very nice displays especially the tornado exhibit.
Well maintained museum with lots of interactive activities for kids and adults. There is a simulation of a tornado that's very realistic. I'm glad we stopped in.
Great museum. Interactive and very educational.
A very productive way to kill time in Lawton
It's awesome, if you go there with kid your going to spend at least 3 hours having a good time, I recommend it 100%
Had a great time
So. Much. Fun! A ton of information that was interactive for all my kids (18 down to 3) start early and outside because you'll be thankful for the cool air inside
This Museum was pretty cool. Very interactive especially for families with children.
Amazing Museum That Gives A Up close and Interactive Way To Understand Exactly What Life Was Like. Displays Were Amazing. Museum Staff was Very Knowledgeable and Friendly!
The tornado exhibit was really cool! And my kids loved the interactive STEM activities upstairs.
The staff are always friendly and helpful. The exhibits are really cool and detailed but becoming a little monotonous. Some things aren't working well and other things aren't working at all. Most exhibits are detailed and in working order though. We have a family membership and our kids are getting a little older so that could be a reason why we're getting bored here. Definitely would recommend a membership if you have younger kiddos.
Took my grandson to see the dinosaur exhibit. He was enthralled.
I was surprised at how good this was. It is fun for adults and kids. Lots of unique things and well thought out exhibits. I totally would go again and recommend it to anyone. The Tornado video was especially well done.
We only had 90 minutes but a great little museum.
So much fun for all ages
The newly renovated Great Plains Museum is great. Much to do and see, inside and out.
Excellent for children. Wonderful learning experience.
This is a really nice museum. We took our boys there today and spent hours exploring, building and learning.
Literally walking out because I was told I was unable to bring water in for my toddler!
Really nice museum for kids and adults. It is one of the nicer museums I have visited. Very cool displays and artefacts.
I wish that I would have known sooner that this is actually a children's museum! Everything is hands on for the kids & there is even an art & science area upstairs. It's pretty much the best thing to do in Lawton with little kids.
Wow! What a gem in Lawton. This is a great place for kids and adults. I went as a late twenties person on my own and loved it. There are tons of interactive exhibits and you really get a feel for how people have lived in this area throughout history. This is a must see for anyone living in or visiting Lawton.
This was a very cool place to visit. Very interesting.
Top notch! Excellent presentation of historical and current everyday life in Lawton and Southwest Oklahoma. Fun for the kids with hands-on activities and fun for the whole family. Family membership, for up to five , $99.00 is a bargain.
A must visit in Lawton. Interactive activities for kids and updated exhibits make this a must visit.
Great place to visit
I was suprised to find this great museum in Lawton. There are some great exhibits like the wheat grass root scroll and the Tornado Theatre. The tornado exhibit was first class. Admission is worth it for that alone. The outdoor exhibits were great too. The interpreter inside the mock general store was very knowledgeable. It was like stepping back in time complete with burning wood fire. Check out the prairie dogs in the field outside the museum.
Good pasta.. They delvery too.
This is one of the best hidden treasures of Lawton. There is so much to play and explore here. My kids could come here repeatedly and not get bored. Everything is hands on, made for children to learn and explore. Comfy chairs are placed throughout which makes it pleasant for parents. Staff was friendly, too!
Excellent interactive museum.
Always such a great place to take our little one on a super hot day, rainy day or just something to break our routine up a bit. They change out their interactive room a lot and we always love the choices they make to help kids learn about so many different things (bugs, dinosaurs, etc.) Definitely worth the money and we find something new there everytime. Good job, Lawton!
Always great exhibits and so educational!! The live actors on weekends bring history to life. Great family place and reasonably priced!
Very cool hands on museum for all ages
Visiting my son stationed here he wanted to take his 4 year old niece. You could spend hours here and be entertained the whole time. My favorite was the tornado simulator and the newspaper origin exhibit. The mini settlement area literally felt like you stepped back in time. The building and creating areas were most fun for the 4 year old. She really had a great time. We spent $37.00 total for entry fee. Military discounts applied. There's also age 62 and up discount. It's a great time for the whole family.
My students enjoyed and asked if we could return!
This a a fun museum for all ages. They have stuff to read on all the exhibits for those who want to take it slow, and fun interactive things to do for those who are more hands on. Also, they have a great deal for a membership that includes other museums in the state that's worth looking into.
This is not the same museum it was a few years ago! It's all new, and hands-on so kids can really have fun and learn. Very interactive and exciting place to take the kids for the afternoon.
We love this museum, very educational and hands on!
Very Informative, Amazing layout, well informed, fun for all ages!
Great place to hang out and learn. Staff is very helpful and friendly. My family loves this place.
Such a beautiful renovated space! Thank you so much to the museum for hosting the 2017 OMA conference after hours dinner. The interractive exhibits and hands on learning in this place is amazing! Very kid friendly and great for every type of learner!
One of my kids favorite local museums. They could spend hours playing and using their imaginations here. So thankful for a local place to enjoy on cold or rainy days!
Pretty good kids museum, a lot of local info on the Lawton area also. Trading post operator was very knowledgeable, front desk clerk was. very welcoming
Lots of fun and educational exhibits/activities for the kids. Mostly indoors, so fun even in inclement weather. My kids range from 1 - 9 years, and they were all engaged the whole time!
Didn't have any expectation going, just something to do. I loved it! Great for the entire family! Fun learning experience! I went with a girlfriend and she loved it also! Plan on going with hubby real soon!
This is a GREAT place to bring the family. Excellent hands on learning experiences in science, engineering and art as well as local and Oklahoma history. The entry fee is reasonable and the staff is helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Nearly every exhibit and hands on activity is ADA accessible. The only one that wasn't when we visited was a traveling exhibit.
This is by far the best museum I have ever been to...every attraction is interactive: dress up, fossil digs, general store, leather working, giant lite-brite, plus tons of experiments, crafts, and hands-on fun for all ages! Do not miss this museum! The renovations are all done and they were definitely worth the wait!
Took my grandsons today. The interior was going through a renovation so it was not accessible; however, Jana was there to share some history and let us into specific areas. Would recommend to check out if you are ever in Lawton and want something to do with the family. Great for young children.
Best museum in our area, hands on exhibits, check out the tornado simulator and the Council Saddle Shop, amazing.
Awesome place! My son who loves history really enjoyed it! Be sure and see the trading post/fort outside that was my favorite part.!
Enjoy learning about the lives of the Comanche tribe.
Very well done museum. Lots of neat exhibits that are fun for adults and kids. My favorites were the tornado room and giant map at the beginning. Lots of fun activities for kids that even the adults in our group enjoyed!
Love taking kids here at least once a year
Great place for kids and adults lots of hands on learning.
This place was easy to find. A very clean site, with polite people there to help or show us around. Definitely will gu o back! Thank you!
A lot to see and do! Being able to take apart a bison and discuss how Native Americans used every piece was an interesting hands-on activity. My favorite part was the tornado simulation room - I have never seen anything like it. A native of Oklahoma, I have been in and around several tornados, and it is lifelike. However, if you have a fearful kid, don’t take them - totally freaked my daughter out (6); my 4-year-old son caught on and could handle it, but after asking if tornados were really “in this world,” and being told yes, he proceeded to pray to God to take them “out of this world.”
Great experience
Great museum to learn the history of this area. Reasonably priced and wonderful for kids!
Very cool! Wonderful interactive section for the kids, beautiful grounds.
Really enriching and entertaining for kids and grown ups alike. You can easily spend 4-5 hours there if you are a history buff.
This museum has something for everyone. Lots of hands-on activities to complement the wealth of information here. Well worth the low admission fee; I would recommend to anyone passing through or anyone who lives in the area. Keep up the great work!
The tornado room was awesome!
Wonderful museum! It's very interactive and fun place for kids. We have a membership and come here regularly.
Our family all enjoyed the museum. My kids enjoyed the many interactive exhibits. The adults enjoyed the tornado theater and the wide variety of local history exhibits and artifacts. The exhibits cover from the pre- settlement history of the area through the present day, with a focus on native American history through the 1930's. Highly recommended.
Very interesting, self guided. Friendly staff.
Has potential to be more. Like it a lot!
Come see for yourself it's a really nice museum and lots of history!
What a great experience! There was so much to do and tons of interactive learning. The tornado room was AMAZING! With nature, dinosaurs, history, and pioneers. Thank you for a great day. No need to drive to OKC, just go to Lawton for this wonderful museum.
Very interesting stuff to learn about
Great place to catch Pokemon. Plenty of Pokestops and Gyms in the park area.
Awesome place! Family oriented. It has very knowledgeable employees. What impressed me the most was the tornado simulator. It is a “shelter” where you go in just as you would around here. It is intense, so I wouldn’t go in with very young children. It can be scary. Also, lots of interactive games for kids. It reminds me of a children’s museum, but it also has very interesting things to learn for the parents. A must visit.
What a beautiful museum!!! Loved the floor tile of Oklahoma and the ability to magnify cities
It had been ages since I was last in the museum and it didn't disappoint. Very interesting and educational afternoon. I highly recommend it and bring the kids because there are a lot of exhibits for them to interact with.
Great interaction and hands on for the kids,,science, biology, archeology, etc grandkids had fun
A great place to bring the family! There are many exhibits that are interesting to adults and children. The rotational exhibits also made the museum a great place to visit many times. My daughter loves all the interactive and hands on exhibits.
