I've stayed in a cabin here twice. Once in January and once in April I think it was. Both were great experiences. Friendly welcoming staff. Beautiful lake and grounds. I saw bald eagles both times. The cabins were spacious for me and the 3 other adults with me. The fireplace was awesome to have and the rocking chair by it. It was nice to have cookware and dish soap. Would be helpful to have a second dish towel since everything is hand washed and an extra dish cloth or sponge instead. I can't remember how the bed was so it must have been fine. All the windows throughout the cabin add to the nature feel even when inside which was nice since it was cold the times I was there. Some hardier cookware would be a nice addition. There's plenty of options to cook with, just really used and scratched up Teflon which isn't healthy. For a place like maybe stainless steel would be better since it's hard to destroy. I would absolutely stay here again. Hoping to rent camp one day. The drive through the Ouchita National Forest nearby is AMAZING and driving up the world's highest hill at Cavanaugh gives some beautiful views!!! There's some other neat things nearby, just ask the office.

Nice spot, grounds were alot nicer than when I'd visited a few years before. It was late summer but the rains this year had the water still at a safe level and it felt good to swim. I enjoy coming here because it is less congested than say Broken Bow lake or others that get covered up in tourism plus the splash pad is a really nice touch!!

Another great OK State Park. Just hope the state keeps funding them well.

The cabin was awesome. We got up fixed breakfast, walked, kids played on the playground (which was awesome) , then took a swim, what a day! The view from our cabin was breathtaking. Everything we needed was provided for us...pots, pans, towels, firewood it was a stress free weekend and would go back anytime.

They got rid of the satellite tv and the antenna in my room picked up ZERO stations so once the sun went down and I went back to my cabin there was NOTHING to do.

Amazing lake. Beautiful park. The best time to go would be spring or fall. Photos speak for themselves. Lots of trails and fishing points. We went in winter and couldn't swim. Eager to back in better weather to try and swim. Try and get one of the lakefront cabins 1-5. The rest don't have a great view of the lake. The price difference is 5 bucks and it is totally worth it.

We didn't take advantage of the lake stuff, just spent the night in the cabins. Clean and comfortable. Full kitchen with a 12 cup coffee maker. Shower was a little small but I'm a big guy.

We had a great time here. Cabins are cozy and have a fridge, electric stove, microwave, coffee pot, cookware, and dishes. Extra blankets were in the drawers and the place was super cute. Fireplace inside and there's wood all around. Fire pit and grill at cabin site. The cabins ARE connected. There's a door separating each, in sets of two. About 250 feet away from the next cabin. Pets allowed for $15 a night. Polite and helpful staff and easy check in and out. We came during winter, but the place is still pretty and I'm sure it would be beautiful during spring/summer. Would definitely come back, especially for the groupon rate!

My wife and I stayed in a cabin here in December last year. The park itself is kind of spread out around the lake. The lake seems really nice, but it wasn't much use to us in December. The lake seems to be the focus at this park. The trails near our cabin didn't seem like they had been used in a while... In general, it didn't seem like there was a whole lot to do here in the winter. It does seem like it'd be a fun spot in the summer though. We ended up taking a drive over to see the Heavener runestone which was interesting. Overall, the cabin was very affordable, clean, and comfortable. Each cabin seemed to have an outdoor fire ring, picnic table, and grill. There were a couple things that could have been better though. First of all, I didn't see any firewood for sale which was a bummer considering how cold it was. I suppose I should have asked before we got there, but learn from my mistake. Bring your own or be prepared to find your own. Also, there was no microwave in the kitchen. The stove/oven was pretty small (which is fine), but the oven didn't seem to seal right and was actually turning the cabinet black next to it. Also, if you're going to put a gas stove in the kitchen without electric ignition, you should probably provide matches to light it... The cookware was marginal at best. Overall, I would recommend visiting here as long as you understand what you're getting. The cabins would be a perfect place to visit in the summer as a step above camping. I wouldn't consider it quite a home away from home. I would go back, but I would definitely be more prepared next time.

When we showed up people where already in our spot so had to get the host to move them. Then the neighbors by us were really clingy. Always wanting to get us to hang with them. One evening they even made us stew that we didnt ask for and wasnt wanting it. We already brought pizza. Seemed to really make them people mad and the next day they stole our little grill. which we saw under their picnic table and got back. So be careful if you stay in site 6 at Victor landing. They are to super nice and then gets creepy. But other than that we loved the area. It was really beautiful and had lots to do. The workers were really nice and helpful as well. **the pic I posted has the people beside us info. to help the next people. good luck :-)

My husband and I came for our anniversary weekend and upon arrival it was great. From booking until we arrived was excellent! The cabin was clean and they put firewood out for us as we requested. There were several people In the room next to us. It’s not actual individual cabins , at least by the lake for two people, they are connected by a wall. We sat quietly by the fire until 10pm then went in to reheat food in the microwave. The neighbors in cabin 4 came knocking saying we were making too much noise and they were here to chill and relax. We were simply heating food! As I’m typing this at 1:30 am they are all up partying . I can hear them from my bed!! There are more than two people and I’m concerned because they came to our door 10:00 pm because we were heating up food! I don’t feel comfortable going to sleep. It’s loud!!! I’m not sure about staying the nights we committed . I don’t feel comfortable! I did text Michelle , the person who made our reservation, she gave me her number in case we got lost because of late check in, to let her the know the situation and her response was “ how long are you staying ?” Weird question!! I called her after to let her know the strangeness of the situation and she wasn’t concerned.

Beautiful small lake. Stayed in a cabin on the peninsula cliff for Christmas. Picture window looks out on the lake. A very affordable private spot. Nothing else around to do but spend time with your family.

I stay here routinely with my family and our dogs. We have stayed in the cabins and out on the camp grounds in our tents. The place shows that it has been around for some time, but the cabins and facilities are taken well care of for their use. The location is calm and always pretty no matter what time of year. The cabins are kept with any thing you can find in a hotel, and the camp sites are well kept. The park facilities are also in great working condition. There is a lot of lake front to enjoy to just get out and get into nature. My kids love the splash park in the summer, and the heated restrooms are great in the winter. We will definitely be back to visit this place.

The staff is so friendly and helpful, they get you whatever you need. The cabins are nice, clean, and fairly well stocked. They have been doing upgrades every year which really enhance the experience so it's not quite so rustic. We love it there and come back every year.

Very friendly and extremely helpfully Staff - cabin was comfortable with lovely view of lake. It was great that Our Birding group used the community building for our meetings over the weekend. About 100 species of birds were identified - a great State Park.

We had a great time! Although there is a lot we didn't discover about this lake because we just had kayaks and stayed in the cove around Quarry Island and off the little docks provided, it was good. We also had some good fishing on the Poteau River side below the dam! The cabins were basic but very adequate and clean, quiet and great for family fun. The State Park Staff was the greatest and very helpful. We are returning for sure, with family next time!

Cabins are consistent with most state park cabins. Clean, comfortable, and necessary items stocked. Great chairs on the porch, fire pit and grill. Bed was nice. Ask for a lake view. Cabin 14 and 15 are high on the hill surrounded by trees. No view.

Stayed at one of the cabins! We had a wonderful time! They are dog friendly too!

This area of Oklahoma is so beautiful and diverse. Lake Wister is a small lake by comparison, but it is nevertheless wonderous and fits perfectly within the natural Oklahoma setting. The Cabins are simple and basic, yet comfortable and inviting. We we're pleased with how well kept and clean ours was. This was our first visit, but it won't be our last.

Remote , remote location! Stayed at 51. Bathrooms are really outdated, no heat, not cleaned, and nothing to dry hands on....wind kept blowing our hot water heater out! Lake is nice though!

We love coming to this Oklahoma State Park. The cabins are always clean and comfortable. They always have linens, towels, pot holders, utensils for eating with and cooking, full size fridge and stove with oven. They have a coffee pot with filters and a toaster in the cabin as well as a microwave. The grounds are well kept with plenty to do. Swimming, fishing, boating, miniature golf, splash pad, hikes, and disc golf are some of the activities they offer. The staff are wonderful! This was our first trip anywhere our adoptive daughter and when I had bought a Lake Wister sticker and told her it was for her life book the office staff offered us a state park passpor . She explained everything to us and gave her the first sticker for the book. If you have littles they will love this. There activities to do at each park and by doing them they can earn coins and medals. It made it easy to get the 10 yr old out of the cabin and exploring. The park is a short drive to Spiro, home of the Spiro Mounds archeological site and the Heavener Viking Run Stone (they have a viking festival every year). You can also visit the Cavanal Hill dubbed the world's largest hill at 1,999 ft above the area terrain. If you are thinking of visiting I hope this post helps you decide it is beautiful in the fall, winter and Summer. We have yet to be here in the spring.
