Awesome place to visit and so much history

Fiona Yazzie

Che Bratcher

Quiet, secluded area of the base. Cemetery is interesting. Very sobering to see entire families wiped out within just a few years of each other.

Bill Fyffe

Very peaceful resting place for a noble people. It’s far from the roadways, so all you hear is the wind, the creek, and the birds. It is very clean and well maintained. Pre-reading some information before your visit will familiarize you with some of the names you will see. You’re cheating yourself if you go without at least a cursory review of the Apache history from that period.

Lee Addis

Very well maintained.

Jay McDaniel

My grandfather was the Comanche allowed to make the Eagles head for the memorial. It kept getting stolen for almost 50 years. He made one for each of his kids, and at retirement he made one more for Geronimo, it was stolen, thats why there is no head on the eagle.

April Mack

I have always wanted to visit this place.

The grave is located inside of Fort Sill in Oklahoma. There is an incredible amount of history on Fort Sill. Geronimo's grave is just one of the many graves located in this cemetery. They are in family groups which is very nice. We found it a little hard to find the cemetery since the signs pointing the direction to the cemetery are wrong.

Sue Fenstermacher

Should go there a lot of history

Christian Campbell

Never realized that Geronimo and so many Comanches were buried in a military base. Interesting stories nonetheless.

We visited Geronimo's grave on a recent visit to Fort Sill to attend one of my oldest and dearest friend's retirement ceremony after 29 years of service to our country. The Apache Cemetery is a beautiful, serene resting place, right on the banks of Beef Creek. I wish I could post a photo. The legend is that when you visit Geronimo's grave you bring and leave him gifts of tobacco, and his family you leave coins. Don't take anything from their graves or you will bear the wrath of Geronimo!!

Tyner Cervantes

Lots of history!!!

(Translated by Google) Today I visited two great warriors in their tombs, Geronimo and the great Nana. I was also with Kaywaykla and many relatives of them who ended their lives as prisoners of war in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Worth the trip back in there. Geronimos grave appeared to be missing the eagle on top. I'm hoping it wasn't vandalized maybe just deteriorating over time. It was very peaceful area. We walked around and paid our respects to all who were laid to rest there.

Sarah Evans

Cool place

The drive out to the grave site is wonderful, and the site itself is very well kept after. A lot of Geronimo's relatives are buried here as well. If you are in the fort Sill area and enjoy history this is a great place to start.

LeAnn MKG

Several sites at Ft. Sill, so might plan at least a couple of hours. You MUST stop at the Visitors Center to get a pass, which is at Rogers Lane (HWY 62) & Sheridan Road. And bring some mosquito repellent. Apache Cemetary is out in a wooded field.....but worth fighting off the critters!!

Verry peaceful need to have a pass to get on fort sill

Michael Tapp

It was an honor to visit such a legend.

Cheryl Hall

Very interesting but be careful on directions to you can end up in wrong place...

Danny Hall

Here is a little piece of American and Native History that dates back to the early 1800's. The graveyard is still being used for new burials today. Small and out of the way, but we'll kept by Ft. Sill occupants.

Nathan Kraemer

Please don't leave trash behind; I am sure that he did not build a casino.

Nicole Jim

Its on army base. You NEED a pass from the visitor center near base before being allowed to pass

Kyle Perz

A wonderfully kept national treasure

Spencer Milligan

Steven Whitesall

Cool. Tranquil. Inspiring. Little sad

Reid Meeker

Gary Bacinelli

Was a sad place to visit as it's a gravesite with Geronimos headless grave & family members. Good piece of history as our schools don't teach this type of history.

Mats Fagerberg

I am torn on this. The grave of this important historical individual - the great Chief of the Apache tribe is in a P.O.W grave yard. That seems wrong somehow... on the other hand the spot is beautiful, peaceful and very dignified. The Chief is buried surrounded by his immediate family and brave Apache warriors. That seems right somehow... Anyway, definitely a place to visit if you are in the neighbourhood (it is a bit of the beaten track...). Remember to get a visitor's pass to get on the Army Base - it is not difficult or hard, just a formality.

amanda ough

winderlee nerios

We went at night and not much lighting driving out that way. Nice piece of history.

Matthew Penn

Michael Carlson

Stop by and pay respect to a man who fought for his people.

William Pierce

Dont go at 3am.

Angel Bermudez

Tough to get to because it's on a military base and sort of hidden out by tank trails. Is is an interesting historical spot, but there is not a lot of info at the site.

Jeff Tenebaum

William D. Allen

Very peaceful place to pay respects to Geronimo, his family, and his friends that are all buried here. Out of the way, but worth it.

Christine Maine

Always a great history cemetery pitstop when we're in town. The top of the grave marker needs to be fixed.
