Interesting place
I had high hopes (no pun intended) for the Totem Pole Park. It's pretty well out of the way, and I was pretty underwhelmed when I arrived. There are only a handful of sculptures here, although obviously I will not have the chance to see a 90-ft high totem anywhere else. I found the concept of the park far more exciting than the park itself. That said, I was very pleasantly surprised when I stepped inside the little round shack that is the gift shop and museum (for lack of a better term). Although small, I was fascinated by the info inside about Galloway himself, who possessed a stunning amount of artistic talent. For example, he hand carved over 300 fiddles, each from a different. There are probably about 50 on display. There are also news articles and clippings which tell the story of how Galloway's family went about restoring each totem. This isn't too far from Claremore, and worth the trip.
Ya gotta see it! Fantastic
Fun and interesting.
Very interesting!! I liked the gift shop!!
The totem poles were ordinary, but the woman working inside was as friendly and helpful as you can get.
Simply cannot say enough about the park, just GO, wander, speak with the very knowledgeable Cherokee volunteer in the gift shop. Personally, I am wondering, hoping, and scheming to get back with my girlfriend, who is addicted to outsider art. LOVE.
Love these little historical hidden gems. The stories on how they came to be are always so interesting!
Cool totem poles
This is a must stop along route 66
Such an awesome place to make a stop and stretch your legs. Found out about this on Atlas Obscura. You can go inside the largest totem pole.
It was nice
Love this place. I grew up right down the road and never visited!
Nice stop on 66
Very interesting. It is free to visit. When we were there the gift shop wasn't open even though the hours said it would be.
A bit hot out to be walking around for a long time. So this was a quick stop. It was neat to see the Totem pole's. The fiddles that he constructed were a nice bonus to see.
Very interesting place.
Loved this quirky park featuring unique artwork. Thank you for preserving his work!
It's absolutely beautiful. The Gift Store has wonderful things, something for everyone. History included. Very pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed my visit extremely. A place to remember.
You know, it’s free
Harkins back to a simpler time..
I love this place and have since I was a child
It's a fun place to visit a couple of miles off of Route 66. The totem pole is awesome and the picnic area is nice. It's a good place for kids too.
There are a lot of interesting things to see. It takes only an hour to see the place.
This is a great place for Route 66ers to stop. We loved the totem poles. They also have a pavilion and nature trail, perfect for lunch and a walk. :)
Amazing! Another gem on route 66!
Beautiful stop, worth the time to get off the highway. Nice trail to explore on the property. Update- spray yourself with tick spray before going on the trail....
Very entertaining. Kids and the family had a wonderful time.
A little talent, a little time on your hands, voila!
Fun Bunch Route 66 road trip,on our way to Carthage Mo. Stopped @ Ed Galloway's Totem Pole Park, 10/20/2017., History, Past, Present, and Future Awesome. Pray these things are here for our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A neat little tourist attraction.
Totems were great. Closed until March
Now this place is off in the woods so you don't would not normally expected but the actual structures that are there are the teepees are really fascinating and they're really nice look at I understand why is an attraction and the kids enjoy it makes beautiful pictures I recommended and there's no admission fee so it's something you can go look at it and the structures are amazing
Disappointing to say the least. I am unconvinced of any authenticity. Appeared as tacky kitch. I hate to say it but not sure it is worth the side trip.
Loved it
Took a while to find and directions were not particularly clear. We drove up and down the road several times and stopped to ask for directions. There was no one at the park at all. Totem poles were good but the park wasn't spectacular. Thought they would be more poles. Some looked a little tired in need of an update others were great. But it is a self funded charity. Has a small shop, nice lady but the same things in the gift shops.
Route 66 is dying, please drive America's highway. Stop donate and enjoy, help keep this alive. Pictures do not do this place justice.
Adorable place to stop and have a picnic and look around. Right on historic Rt.66. Cute gift shop where everything is very reasonably priced.
Found this just driving and the artwork is beautiful
This is a neat place to be! My son bought a nice sling shot and there was a pecan tree outside that provided plenty of ammo!
Nice little rest stop. Nice gift shop when open. Picknic area and area for children to play and learn things.
Loved it.
Thank you to the business owners who take care of these historical places. Beautifully kept up. Very nice people. Great deals in the gift shop.
Interesting! I had seen postcards and read about the totems. There is a gift shop but it wasn't open. But Foyil is a place to go to visit. You need to keep these totems around for tourism. A must see!
Very neat!
Nice place to hang out and have a picnic.
Free roadside attraction. Good place to let the kids run.
Where else can you find the world's tallest totem pole? Not to mention a pretty big turtle head.
What a fun stop on your Route 66 journey.
You cannot believe what one man did my hand. I cannot imagine the backbreaking labor he put into The sculptures. The detail work is phenomenal. Looking at pictures on website nowhere near compares to stand being in front of them. The lady in the gift shop so nice and informative. And to think she has lived on the premises for 20 some years
Family friendly, kid friendly, pet friendly and food friendly. A very interesting and fun place for a pick nick or just a stroll. Local Indian history.
Great place to visit. My grandkids had a blast.
was way better than I expectred
Wow crazy exciting
Very neat experience.
Loved it. Wish we knew about the gift shop hours and days closed due to season. Would like to go back again and see the fiddles. Can stop and have a picnic there for a break and kids can stretch their legs.
Beautiful Art, Oklahoma History, Indian Jewelry in gift shop made locally, Great for taking a group on a site seeing trip, and dog friendly if you have your pets with you!
Great place to check out! Very cool!
The detail and imagination that went into the totem pole is fascinating, but the really neat thing to see is the handmade fiddle collection inside the gift shop. They are made of a variety of wood from all over the world. The shop also carries a variety of items made by local Cherokees.
Detailed cement sculptures that were created by one man in the 1940s. It is a bit out of the way but definitely worth the trip. The huge totem is really amazing - I can't imagine the vision and effort that it took to create it.
Nice place to stop and stretch. We enjoyed the staff and the well kept grounds.
Nice place, very well kept. Gift shop nice and neat as well.
Have been wanting to go here for many years. It is a little difficult to find as it isn't very well marked, but we made it there after a couple of tries. The large totem is pretty impressive due to its size and detail and was built between 1937-1948. There are several smaller totems, all made of concrete.
So interesting!
Cool place to see few miles off hwy. Free. If you like horror check out Unknown Origin FX
Drove through on our summer road trip. Really nice place, and they have taken a lot of time to make the area around the totem poles look great. Worth the time to take a look at what they have. Very interesting place for a quick side bar for a trip.
This place is so cool! The art on the totem poles is so detailed, it's amazing. I love quirky places like this.
It was something to see ...I wouldn't drive hours out if the way to see it but it is unique
Short excursion off of 66. One of those things that you can check off your list.
Smaller than I thought, but wonderful all the same
What can I say the best chicken by far, the best redhead and rice, and What awesome mashed taters and gravy.
Great information and a good stop for a break and relaxation.
Wonderful little side trip off Route 66.
Intresting
Free stop just a couple of miles off the beaten path, Rt. 66. Iconic, unusual, and symbolic creations. Great place to stretch your legs, eat a bite and be able to say, "I've been there!"
The establishment was clean and inviting. The staff were friendly, helpful and pleasant to help. They have a great museum, history of the area and there is a lot of information about the totem pole. They also have a picnic area. I highly recommend going there for all the history and attractions.
Interesting. Quirky. Visitor center has limited hours.
Another piece of Route 66 history needing support to maintain it's part of the United States.
Five stars for Ed Galloway! Wow. 1 stars for the rogers county historical societies upkeep of this phenomenal piece of history. #BeBetter
A nice bit of nostalgia and whimsy. Please donate when you visit!
Finally got here after trying for years to arrange a time to. Amazing
Awesome. The grounds are tidy and neat. A very eclectic place.
Quirky place
Always a fun place to visit
Definitely a Route 66 must see roadside attraction. Not a big part but worth 10-15min to see it and take pictures. There's a small parking lot, a trail to hike on, and be sure heck out the giftshop that includes a collection of carved violins. Overall not the most well kept but still worth seeing.
Breathtakingly beautiful!
Always worth a visit, 2nd time ....
Well, I went there today and it was horrible. The older lady was so rude and made really rude comments. She was mad that we took a photo with the totem pole which I didn't know was a bad thing? Don't recommend going ever!!! Unless you want to be treated with total disrespect.
Cool place..I'm so glad there are places like this that still exist.Nice grass area for a picnic
It is pretty neat to see that it was built all by one man
Not what you'd imagine when you say Totem Pole Park. I don't know what the significance of this place is, but it doesn't exactly shout "fun for the whole family".
Very nice histrionic site a good place to bring the kids to teach about Oklahoma and route 66
Cool Route 66 sight. The tallest totem pole in the world, hand built and lovingly preserved. Good gift shop and very clean restroom.
Love this place! The totem poles are beautiful. There is also a nature trail
Been going here for many years. It's a great little place with amazing art instillations in the form of huge totem pole and smaller art pieces. Also a cut little fiddle house that holds a fabulous collectible of fiddles. A few picnic tables and lots of room for kids to run and play. Including inside and on the totem pole! All for free!!!
It was very neat seeing all the totem poles and the little museum.
Fun stop with some history. Restroom, gift shop available.
We walked around and looked at the various town poles. The gift shop was closed, that was disappointing. Maybe they only open on the weekends.
On our Route 66 trip we looked up sites to see and this one came up. The site is well maintained staffed with a volunteer at the small gift shop / museum who was very knowledgeable. Great place to stop for a picnic or just explore.
Really cool if you are a world record hunter, but the gift shop cashier is not interested in customer service AT ALL. She expressed a very bitter attitude towards our kids and our dog. If it wasn't free I would not be interested.
Fitting tribute to a quirky guy!
Interesting, but not worth the out of the way drive
Great little stop off of Route 66 and certainly worth seeing. The grounds are well kept and the totem pole is pretty amazing to see. Few small trails around the site, nothing major. Just a good little stop for the family.
Disappointed. Was expecting something native american. Not concrete pillars
Very fun side trip of Old 66
Great Roadside attraction. A must stop
An awesome example of a man's creative vision. Time is taking a toll on some of the finer details. Be sure to donate while visiting. Hopefully the caretakers have a plan for preservation of the art.
One of a kind place if you like a little music history even better
Very interesting place.
Loved the lady at the gift shop. She was very knowledgeable.
Awesome attraction!
Very interesting place worth the stop
This is a really neat piece of Americana. It is free But be sure to see the museum that is attached to it the fiddles are amazing and it is amazing one man built this all
Cool park, great totems and Free!
Neat little stop off of Route 66! There is a gift shop, but we arrived after it had closed for the day. The kids still loved checking out all of the totem poles, and the grounds were very well maintained, so we left a donation in the donation box outside.
It's a great Route 66 stop. Ed Galloway was an amazing man.
Lovely quite stop with toilets and a quirky gift shop. Owners were very friendly and loved a chat! Even got to sign the guest book.
Awesome piece of Oklahoma Heritage!
Interesting spot
First time being here it was wesome
totem poles are really cool!!! must see!!!
Neat place , great staff worth the stop
Great time with friends been Oklahoma native for 46 years and never been here largest totem pole in world built in 1948 only open on weekends check hours also check historic registry of national sites it's on there
A cute little Totem Park with lots of history! Lady at the gift shop is sweet as can be. So glad we found this place!
Cool Lil area good for picnics
Decent free place to stop in real quick. Has some totem poles. Nothing too special.
I went back in 2012 with my dauggter, son and aunt. We had a great time!
Always a great place!!!
Very sweet exhibits. Great place to have a picnic.
Very awesome landmark for Oklahoma to have.
What an artistic talented man. Amazing!
Enjoyed the history here and was impressed with the women running the on-site store. She was happy to share the history behind the man who created all that you see here. Worth the drive!!
Beautiful artwork! Gift shop also has artwork that is stunning. Great atmosphere kept alive by the visitors!
Worth a visit
An excellent example of quirky Americana, not far from nowhere off of Route 66. Small place that really only takes a few minutes to see and features a 90 foot cement totem among other smaller monuments. Totally unlike anything else so it gets 5 stars for best on class.
Very interesting place, my kids enjoyed it.
Very easy to find and lots of information on the place and events.
Not really a destination, but if it is on your path, definitely worth the stop.
Off the beaten path Route 66 stop. Was disappointed the little gift shop was closed. Worth exploring and seeing the World's Largest Totem Pole.
Way more than I expected. Well kept area. Has a public restroom and even a nature trail.
Such a cool little roadside attraction!!
Quiet little place a bit off the beaten path. There are some short, easy paths to walk and fun totem poles to see. Worth the stop if you’re in the area or driving through and need a place to stretch your legs.
Can't wait to take the kids here. It's a neat place for a picnic
Here's the scoop. Use your GPS because it will give you more of a warning than the signage will; the only sign is AT the entrance...consider yourself advised or be prepared to turn around somewhere down the road. No admission, just a simple donation box; fold your bill(s) really small or they won't fit DOWN into the box. Dog friendly (park/walking area). The gift shop is only open noon-5 pm. The bathroom isn't accessible unless the gift shop is open...They (gift shop personnel) have the key, otherwise, plug your nose and use the port-a-potty. SO, PLAN AHEAD. Covered picnic areas (can be reserved in advance, according to a sign). They have a really small walking trail with several, looping, VERY short routes; poison ivy??? Unsure. It isn't that far off of the beaten path and free so it's worth the time & effort. Don't forget to hit the "THUMBS UP" button if you found my review helpful.
Awesome place to go walk around, you'll not be disappointed!!
This place is super cool. It’s clearly marked where to park. The grounds are beautiful And well maintained. There is a private residence that is clearly marked on the grounds so be respectful. There is a dog walking area and tables that you could enjoy a picnic. There are around 7 Totem Poles and a 7 sided round house that is a gift shop. The gift shop has books, postcards, shot glasses, violins and more. Staff are super friendly. The totems are amazing and in great shape....the art work is so pretty. It was also a great place to stretch our legs.
Great stop near Route 66 for a photo opportunity.
Great place full of history, must stop and see!
If you're close by, just stop and stretch your legs for a bit.
Always fun and interesting to see a Route 66 roadside attraction. The world's largest (concrete) totem pole. Be aware that the museum and information center is only open during the summer months. But no matter what time of year it is, it's a nice place to stop and stretch your legs and see a Route 66 icon. Worth the stop.
Nice picnic tables
Awesome! A definite stop for Route 66 travelers.
Had fun here. Was here for a different function and had some extra time so we visited here. Our group really enjoyed it. Just wished there was more information available to understand what we were seeing.
This is truly a magical place. I'm fortunate to live near such an inspirational landmark. Absolutely a stunning must see. 4 miles east of historical route 66 y'all!
Take a ladder and you can climb to the top
Best park ever! Since it has been painted & restored it is BEAUTIFUL!
There were only a few totem poles but they were quite beautiful. Easy to park and a cool place to visit. It also has a nature trail
