I followed the Trail of Tears from New Echota, Georgia to here with my two young grandsons and it was an amazing journey! The cultural center was fantastic! We got the passport and visited several historical sites and plan to go back one day for the rest. Even though my boys are five and six they got a good feel for the history and made a real connection to part of our heritage. I highly recommend the trip to anyone with an interest in Native American history or heritage.

Good look into Cherokee history

My tour guide, Bill, was amazing. We got to play stick ball in their village and it was so much fun. We also got to go to Adam's corner that showed what some houses would look like in the 1800s. All the houses were interactive. The staff was very kind.

Thomas Nail

This place is great as a group of 20 something year old college students, I was pleasantly surprised when such an in-depth and educational but yet extremely fun tour was presented. The staff weird shoes that are native spirit and kept E …

corben Hadley

Great place just wish there was more to do that teaches you more about the heritage

Dell Medlock

Tickets are $12 each per adult. Ok. Sounds reasonable. We start the walk through tour with our guide. She had interesting things to say about the history and construction of the buildings and why there were built in a certain fashion. But, as we went through the rest of the tour, we made stops where demonstrations were supposed to happen. How to make arrowheads, bows and arrows, etc. None of those actors were present. None. We walked the village and only saw our guide. Big let down. You're charging full price for for zero of the things that would make it worth it. Then we walked the "museum" portion. Before entering we were told that photos were not allowed. What? Why? As we walked through, I quickly realised it was really just a place to sell local artists items. The art was great but not really what I expected. The whole trip was a huge disappointment.

Peter Clifton

Interesting insight into Cherokee history and culture. Also highlights the pain, suffering and loss all Native Americans endured in the past.

Tina Bethe

This place is amazing! They have a guided tour of a 1700s replica Cherokee Village and our guide was very knowledgeable. There was an expert arrowhead maker there and he demonstrated how to use different natural tools to make arrowheads. There is also a replica 1800s village behind the Center that you can go through on your own. They had a Native American Baseball Players display inside before you get to The Trail of Tears and both displays were wonderful! The grounds were beautiful and there are picnic tables and benches everywhere and if you are a smoker, there are plenty of smoker's poles. I love this place and can't wait to go back when I have more time!

Zachary Preheim

Educational experience with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Buy the passport instead of individual admission.

Osiyo oginali! Wonderful historical interpreter and lots to learn and see and do here. It is so great to come back as an adult and walk where I walked as a child. It is just as interesting and inspiring as it was then The history comes to life here. It's good for the young and the young at heart. Wado!

I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoyed the guided tour of the Cherokee village. It was so informative. I was just fascinated by all the aspects of Cherokee culture. It was very different from the plains Indian tribes which is what I was more familiar with. I learned so much. For example, I had no idea it was a matriarchal society. I learned how they made their summer and winter houses; dugout canoes, blow darts, bows and arrows... clan structure, rituals, games like stickball that were actually more than games and could determine the status of a village for a whole year. Our native Cherokee guides were beyond awesome. Then inside the museum is their Trail of Tears exhibition which very moving and heartbreaking. But what impressed me the most was the grace, strength and dignity of this people who are celebrating their heritage and rising above the circumstances in which they were placed.

Elise Moore

This museum is a must see. Excellent displays explaining all the Indian Removals not just the Cherokee. Excellent archives. Large bookshop with other souvenirs. There is also an outdoor village with tour. You could easily spend several hours if you are interested in this period of history.

Amanda Fietz

I really enjoyed the exterior village tour!! It was fascinating getting to see everything and that it's real structures not cheesy replicas. I didn't get quite the same experience at rural village. A lot of the speakers were down so we couldn't learn about them and the store was bolted shut with no sign. As this is not guided. Without the speakers you were left feeling a little lacking. Also, a lot of the speakers were out in the Trail of Tears exhibit. The place is great I just suggest fixing those so your guests can get the full experience. Also, it's a little confusing where to go to buy tickets and such. There is someone at a desk when you walk in but everytime I started to walk over to ask where to go they kept walking off. As you need tickets for the guided portions I would make it more clear where to go.

Jill Watts

We had the best time. We have always wanted to go. Took the tour of the village and the staff was so amazing. Our tour guide was beautiful and so knowledgeable. The older Native American gentleman who was make flint rock knives and arrow heads was an American treasure. I loved seeing the young people who worked there being emerged in there culture. They put on a small game for us. I was so impressed with the staff in the shop also. Me and my mom looked up her lineage and the lady was so nice. This is one of the best vacation places I have ever been to. The history here is something I will never forget. Thank you Cherokee Heritage Center for existing.

Don Wallace

Very informative! Very cool!

With Cherokee culture in mind, this is the place....it is outstanding....... however, more space is needed. Excellent place to visit with a knowledgeable staff. Super nice and helpful...

A must see for anyone! We enjoyed the traveling Will Rogers exhibit. The trail of tears museum is an emotional experience with information, hands on and immersive aspects that are amazing. We also toured the 1710 village lead by Steve. He was a wonderful guide. Funny, personable and open to questions. We went on the self guided tour of the village behind the museum as well. Beautiful items in the gift shop. Only disappointment was there is a passport ticket option available. It allows you to see all the area sites for one price. The cashier who helped us purchase tickets was not very friendly and this was not mentioned until we checked out afterwards. The female employee who checked us out was very friendly and answered questions. Would love to come back and see all the sites someday.

Debra Pryor

The exhibits were well though out and informative. The guide knew his subject and presented it in an interesting manner. He was able to demonstrate native everyday skills. I recommend a visit.

Nick Peter
