REVIEWS OF The Fort Mandan IN North Dakota

Carole Free

My husband and I had the most wonderful experience at this Fort. The Ranger, Juan, was so knowledgeable and really created a picture of how The people lived and how they were able to create the things they needed. He really knew his history and he was so good at sharing his knowledge.. we are following the Lewis and Clark Trail starting in St. Louis and we will be following it to the coast. This visit to the Fort has really brought all the people involved to life for both me and my husband Pete.

Quiet, peaceful, beautiful on a warm winter day.

Kayla Christensen

The fort is just a replica, and to get to the actual fort is a 7mile hike. We didn't have time to do the hike but we really wanted to see it

Good replica.

Jeff Johnson

The pictures on this website look good - except the one showing a deep river valley with volcanic basalt cliffs rising from the river on the left is from the Columbia River in Oregon between towns of The Dalles and Hood River Oregon. Excellent place to visit - it's just not on the Missouri. Disregard my stars rating - haven't been there yet. this is about photos.

MM Masterscross

Great place to go, the tour was amazing. The park was so clean and well kept. The tour guide was so informative. Will definitely visit again. Did not disappoint

matthew Childs

Take the guided tour. Ranger Thomas did a great job of explaining everything and answering all our questions. ND has done a great job recreating the fort.

Anna Murphy

Really neat place to see. Tours on the hour, take about 30 minutes, worth the stop. Tour guide was very knowledgeable

Lavonna Skeans

It was nice. But, the fact that is was a reproduction and at a different place was a bit of a let down. But, I understand about it being lost. The inside rooms were really nice. They gave an insight to their lives in the area.

Aaron Klein

Nice spot along the river. Good for a picnic.

Manuela Van der Steen

(Translated by Google) Nice but small. Lewis and Clarck had to set up this fort themselves in order to spend the winter (Original) Mooi maar klein. Lewis en Clarck hebben dit fort zelf moeten oprichten om te kunnen overwinteren

Jon Keller

Very well done tours. Is informative.

David Nelson

So much history...

Rho M.

Unique fort replica (@2 miles from Lewis & Clark Interpretive Crt and museum) with history of Lewis & Clark who wintered here from 1804-1805. The museum covers ND history, several local Indian tribes & Lewis and Clark explorers. No discounts but only $8 pp for museum & fort tours. Great gift shop. Park Rangers are very nice & helpful.

Tiffany

The guided tour of the fort replica was interesting. The tour guide was very informative and good at answering everyone's questions. We were delighted to discover a well kept play / picnic area after the tour.

Y. Kamer

The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable in the history of the settlement and conditions in those times. We could ask a lot of questions and learned a lot during our visit.

Phyllis Hohle

Ron Erwin

Truly an awesome place

Lew Phinney

Outstanding tour

Tera Lynn Gray

The staff here are very helpful and knowledgeable. The visitor center has great interactive exhibits for kids of all ages.

Bill Houghtaling

A great visit to though historic site and re-creation of Ft Mandan. The tour costs $8.00 per person and covers the Interpretive Center as well as Ft. Mandan. The ladies providing the tour were fantastic, very knowledgeable and good communicators. Don't be shy if driving a big RV and towing a car. There is a turn around loop next to Ft Mandan. No problem with a 42 motor home towing a car. I parked on the side of the road facing out.

Shonna Heishman

We really enjoyed the tour at Fort Mandan. Learned many new facts about the winter they stayed there. Our guide was terrific and able to answer our many questions.

Kayla Peplinski

Our guide was AMAZING. She was very knowledgeable! It was great to learn more about that winter of the expedition.

JR Hooks

One of three Corps of Discovery winter encampments.

Ed Haley

Great history

Laurie Klemm

The guide did an excellent job. If she didn't know an answer to a question, she didn't fake it. She was honest and knew her history well.

Charles Bennett

A good reconstruction and a well done presentation of the conditions these men were under. Would have been five stars but the sight is not very good for people with mobility issues.

Scott Gross

Really nice location. Our guide was very informative. Only complaint was that the lady behind the counter gave bad directions

Travis Finborg

Nice trail along the river.

Bruce Henne

The Real deal. An absolute must see while it is still supported by the State. Great detail included in the reconstructed Fort that would help all kids and adults appreciate US history during the early Discovery and homesteading period. The interpretive Center is a small concise museum that shows Lewis and Clark's historic expedition and it explains the full detail with authentic and reproduced artifacts. Together, this is an anchor Icon for USA and its an absolute "Bucket Todo List" for all.

Tammie Masters

Very informative tour.

sophie rogers

A wonderful pictures, art, and historical museum quality items from the Native Mandan Indians and Lewis and Clark campsite and fort. An endearing history lesson.

Jennifer S.

Fun place and thing to do. Learning about Lewis and Clark Expedition. Learning about the Fort Mandan next to the Missouri River. Beautiful views and fun interpretive trails to walk.

Taylor Watkins

I love it

Laura Wilson

I liked it. The reality of how the men of the expedition lived through the winter was eye-opening. We then took a walk along the beautiful Missouri river. Tour doesn't take long, with in a kid's attention span. Lots of area to run and I think I remember picnic tables.

Travis Frey

Nice facility and friendly staff. Great for kids

Samuel Snyder

Good

Racierra Williams

I like cute boys

David Gabbie Bell

Beautiful views. Very friendly park guides

Douglas Doerr

We arrived after 3:00 pm, which was the last docent-led tour; however, one of the docents took us on his own tour. It was informative, and I leard a few things that I did not glean from reading "Undaunted Courage" or by watching the PBS documentary on Lewis and Clark.

Lunar’s Edge

I've never been but I used google to find where this is. So this is a shoutout to google. THANK YOU GOOGLE!
