It is a great spot for a picnic or camping trip. The grounds are clean and well managed, and organized so that primitive camping is seperate from the RV section. There is also an interpretive center with a museum of Pembina County history. Very good spot to get away!

Prepare to pay twice for the daily vehicle pass. We visited the park July 18 2018 and from information obtained from their web site we expected to pay a 7 dollar daily vehicle pass and 17 dollars for a overnight primitive camping spot. We were informed the site would not be 24 dollars but 31 dollars since we had to pay twice for the daily vehicle pass. They rationalized this charge by stating that we were technically there for two days even though we planned to stay less than 24 hours. The reservation clerk did not appear comfortable with this surprise charge and we decided not to complain since this was a illogical top down rule that she unfortunately had to enforce. This extra charge made no sense to us and we felt cheated by it. Aside from this ridiculous extra charge we enjoyed the excellent facilities but left with a bad taste in our mouths. Not recommended.

I went to the Icelandic State Park for the day because I have family staying there, and found it to be a very well laid out campground. There is a lot of room between campers which means that everyone has their privacy. The campground is well-maintained, and a day pass costs $7 US. Shopping is available in Cavalier which is only a few minutes drive away from the state park. I was impressed with everything I saw!

Lovely big park..........sites are reasonably separated and there are LOTS of trees. The lake is quite large, and deer abound. The Heritage Village at the entrance is quite interesting & informative. This is a very desirable place to go with your family.

Cheri Stinnett

Great trails, not too long, not too short. Wonderful museum in visitor center. Friendly staff. Pretty campground and beach.

Turtle River...a lot better. Nothing special

Brett Scholler

Beautiful State Park with nice camping sights, good amenities, nice lake and beach, kayak, canoe, and stand up paddle board rentals available per hour or per day, concessions available daily at the beach, pioneer heritage visitors center with historic buildings for touring also very nice!

Avery Brillinger

The beach is mediocre and the campsites are not very good for tenting, probably my favourite part was the little food stand down by the beach. Otherwise over priced and over rated. Unless you are in a camper would not recommend.

Angie Moore

Canoes, paddle boards, and kayaks for rent $8 an hr really reasonable!!

Wesley Smith

Folks working here seem extra friendly. Kids swim and play in the sand on the beach area. Fun bike riding and fishing. Gonna try a kayak rental with kids

dustin thompson

Tried to stay here. Just like North Dakota to not be recreational friendly. Not motorcycle freindly. We had 3 motorcycles with sleeping bag size tents and they want one tent per site.

Shade Fenix

Wonderful, friendly staff (especially Kevin). Visited on busiest weekend of the year and yet facilities were very clean. Park itself is smaller but with many nice trails through the trees. Cozy cabins with fridge and potent air conditioner. The sites we drove by were all well shaded. Bring some bug repellant. Beautiful sunsets.

Arno Borreson

This was our frist time here at this state park it was amazing place cant wait to return here again

We had a family reunion at this park. The park was nice and we had like 9 sites although most were tenting but wanted to be by the ones with the RV's they had to pay the same and were told they could not tent with an RV on the site and only one tent per campsite. $20 but used no electricity and no water. Wow. then we were having a gift exchange by the fire and were told to hold it down (10:30pm) Really? so finally we broke up and everyone went to their spots. I only get to see some of these family members a couple times a year. 5 of us went for a walk and were escorted back to our campsite and I was going to sit by the fire by myself and the ranger put my campfire out and told me I had to go into my camper. Really? In ND it doesn't even get dark until 10pm which is the nicest time to have a campfire. Oh, and we did have senior citizens and babys with us that were just fine. The one baby did cry once and that was one time we were told we were too noisy. And then we were told they really didn't get any complaints about us. Never again will we go there. By the way I am 55 years old many were older that were there.

Linda Carik

Very well maintained park. Staff is friendly and very attentive. The best things to do here would be walk, or jog if you like, the trails and go out on the water. Just make sure you call ahead of time to reserve a spot to camp at because they fill up fast. If you want to tent in an RV spot be warned that they only allow 1 tent per site. I found this out the hard way and had to spend 3 times as much.

Liv Helm

Family friendly. Very clean.

S Baker

Nice campground, friendly ranger staff, fun hiking trails, cool lake, nice comfort station in West camping area. Hope the garden by the amphitheatre was donated... would to think Parks & Rec spent good money on it.

Jacob Vigesaa

Camped here one night last weekend. Hiked a few miles of trail they have to offer, and is in a great location, close to Pembina Gorge rec area if you want to explore there for a day. Nice quiet campground, with a quality firepit and picnic table. Would definitely not hesitate to book again.

Excellent State park! Wooded sites, sandy beach..... everything a family needs.

Jim Riley

It was just fantastic!! I was there last in 2017. New showers were wonderful, and great to have the park hosts for icenand firewood. We will be back and will bring more family!

Bob Goodson

Our first visit to the park and we loved it. There is access to the lake for boating, fishing, and swimming (not for this TX boy). Plenty of roads and paths for hiking and biking. All the RV sites are pull through and easy to access. We had elec and water with a dump station nearby. Highly recommended!

Lynnae Neuberger

Very nice campsites with full hookups. Beach access, fishing and boating, playgrounds and dog park. Well maintained historical sites and buildings with pioneer museum.

Dan Jimenez

This was our first time at Icelandic, 4 day 4 of July weekend and it was awesome!. Great hiking trails as we went about 4 miles. Campground hosts were very friendly and helpful along with the park rangers. They have a nice gift shop and museum area in the main building. They have an actual concessions stand at the beach with all kinds of food. Will definitely be here again!

Craig Mullen

Best park layout I've had the pleasure of staying at, could use more dump stations or make into full hook up

This park has many nice areas and is somewhere we love to comp at. The biggest problem I have is that none of the RV slots has sewer hookups. Aside from that, my family really likes it.
