Beautiful memorial. I would have liked more flowers there
People coming together sharing their love of John Lennon in a spot that oozes peace and love.
A beautiful part of Central Park. It's a very lovely memorial to John Lennon. It's right across the street from where he used to live. There is convenient access to the subway. Do note, it is always busy plenty of people coming to pay their respects. Definitely recommended if you are Beatles fan.
John lemmom Paull Macdonald's, ringer stall, gerg hairingson. Leagdeds. Rest in rip I love
Such a peaceful and quiet place in the middle of the concrete jungle. R.I.P Lennon
Absolutely wonderful, quiet and touching place for John Lennon fans.
A beautiful place centered on peace and love.
No trip to New York City is complete without visiting and thinking about one of New York's more famous residents, albeit too briefly. John Lennon was many things, including some unflattering personality traits. However, he was able to offer us encouraging and important words set to some of the most beautiful music ever written. He showed the power of music in a way that few have ever accomplished. And, in the end, he truly was all about love. Pay the lad a visit.
I USED TO BE A CENTRAL PARK VOLUNTEER MEETING AND GREETING THE PUBLIC IN A KIOSK ADJACENT TO STRAWBERRY FIELDS. CROWDS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD JUST HAVE TO WALK AROUND AND OVER THE FLAT MONUMENT TO JOHN LENNON. REGULARS WITH SOMETHING TO SELL OR ? ANYWAY THEY CAN GET A FEW DOLLARS OCCUPY THE WOODEN BENCHES CHEEK TO CHEEK DURING DECENT WEATHER. VISITORS TO THE INFORMATION KIOSK MOST FREQUENT QUESTION WAS "WHERE". #1, THE NEAREST RESTROOM, #2, STRAWBERRY FIELDS, #3 WAS THE "DAKOTA" BEAUTIFUL APARTMENT BUILDING DIRECTLY ACROSS CPW WHERE THE WIDOW LENNON STILL LIVES.
Beautiful place to visit specially if u take a bicycle tour to see the whole park
Very coolCentral Park strawberry Fields. Stay off the fast track where the road is bicycles have the right-of-way. FYI
This place is gorgeous especially during the fall and winter.
It was very sentimental and revered know it was a reflection of John Lennon wow miss him and his artistry and I think the whole world can share these sentiments so remember to love one another and GIVE PEACE A CHANCE
We paid for one of the bicycle guys, so we could ride around. We was told about everything in park which was so refreshing. One of the joggers was super rude, but it was sorta funny. We expected to get a lot of that, but she was the only one, in our whole trip to New York! If you get the chance to visit Central Park, the bicycle guys make the trip so much more informative.
I'd give this location 5 stars if it weren't for the crowds...this spot is most definitely one of the parks more crowded locations. Mostly tourists taking their photos with the "Imagine" mosaic. But it is really shady in the summer & a good spot for a break & for people watching
Not a big Beatles fan, but why not meander through this piece of central park? The mosaic was anti climatic but the dude selling these cool bracelets was awesome. I recommend buying a handmade bracelet while there. I paid $10 but I'm sure you can barter, but why? He was obviously talented...
It's one of those places we always make a point to spend a few moment's at when were in the city. Very serene.
I just led my two-hour tour of the park that made a stop here. It's a beautiful spot in memory of a great musician. John Lennon and Yoko Ono bought an apartment in the Dakota building nearby at 72nd Street and Central Park West, in 1970. John Lennon came here often to create poems that he would make into songs later. The Mosaic is 12 ft or 40 wide. Made of black and white stones, it was a donation of the city of Napoli, Italia. the Mosaic is circular and represents a lotus blossom, a Buddhist symbol of renewal. It's surrounded by dogwood trees that bear white blooms in June. Central park benches can have memorial plaques added to them at a charge of $7,500, which goes towards the upkeep of the Park. One such plaque at Strawberry Fields, donated by the people of Liverpool England, The Beatles' home city, is in honor of the Liverpool and UK dead of September 11th, 2001.
Central Park is a must see, and definitely a visit worth! Strawberry fields is not a traditional memorial spot, here is a delicate room for laughs and happy thoughts
Has lovely as it's always been!
Who wouldn't like the lush green nature at it's best, situate in the immediate neighborhood of the world's most advanced commercial city of NewYork... To explore Central Park, you will need a week at least... There's plenty for kids, for dog lovers, for sports, for runners, for bird watchers, for sun bathers, for those who wish to go cycling, for readers and for those who wish to remain one with nature... There's abundance for every one... I live in Bangalore, India and I am a regular visitor to U.S... One place I always want to go to, once I step out of home, is Central Park...
Always a great place to come on the anniversary of John Lennon‘s birthday and death. It’s a great place to come and listen to Beatles songs or just pay tribute to John Lennon. I always come here on a spring day and it’s a very nice and enjoyable time
Awesome tribute in Central Park! If you want to take pictures, be prepared to wait to get a shot that doesn’t have other visitors in your photo. It’s busy! On the day I visited, I waited about 10 minutes to get close enough to get a decent picture. Definitely a cool vibe and worth the wait. On this particular day, there were a couple of musicians there playing acoustic Beatles tunes and the crowd was singing along. Don’t miss this if you visit Central Park! Easy to find if you follow the posted maps in the Park or use the walking GPS on the Google Maps App.
Beautiful area of Central Park. I l9ve it. So worth visiting.
Nice place with lot of nature. But there are no strawberries here... sorry
It's supposed to be a quiet spot but was not.
Beautiful area in one of the most breathtaking parks in the world. Drop by here if you happen to walk through central park, it's worth your time.
I wanted to participate in whatever great music was happening, to celebrate the life of John Lennon. I would like Ms. Ono, and John's sons and relatives to know, the live music was fabulous. When I entered Central Park across from 72nd street, I could hear the music and singing. As a lover of Mr. Lennon's songs, I was psyched to walk up to 4 acoustic guitarists (one with a hofner bass through an amp), along with a chap blowing into a small keyboard through a small rubber hose (he really added some good lead melodies!), A crowd of maybe 50 people sang along with these guitarists (who sang well too), including harmonies. I got there around 2 pm, and stayed until about 4:15 pm. I know I sang quite spiritedly, lead and harmonies, as did many others. Mind you, it was raining, and a bit chilly, but the love there amongst the music and people, more than carried us through.
Nice little picturesque place but very busy, there is always a crowd of people who are waiting to be photographed
Nice, not much to it. Would expect more for someone who meant so much to New York City.
after spending the morning at the zoo and checking out the rest of the Central Park area. We decided to come down to this place and check it out. I'm going to be real with you I don't really see what all the fuss is about lol. There's a lot nicer parts of the park to hang out at. But it was cool to see it anyways. Ended up taking a few photos while we were there
Nice and peaceful. There are usually musicians playing John Lennon songs which adds to the atmosphere
I was quite surprised at how underwhelming this was. I was expecting a lot more, to be honest. It's a pretty enough garden, but nothing special. There are many much nicer spots within Central Park.
Pilgrimage for all Beatle fans or more specifically John Lennon. Someone playing Beatles music. Visitors knowing ALL the words to ALL their songs. Great part is that there are no long lines, no one charging you$$ to visit the place.
Quintessential NYC. A must stop for any Beatles fan.
I have been coming here since it opened in the mid 80's. It is a nice place to gather and remember the legacy of John Lennon. There is usually someone playing an acoustic guitar and singing Beatles songs. It can get very crowded, so you'll have to be assertive with your fellow visitors if you want a picture by the Imagine mosaic. If you're not, be prepared to wait a bit.
Great walk in the park. Was surprised by the way everyone had a subdued respectful atmosphere. Wasn't crazy about vendors gathering like vultures.
Even if you are not The Beatles fanatic you have to stop at this nice spot
Just a great place to sit and enjoy the beautiful view Lots of people taking pictures This us a great tribute to John Lennon Plus there was a guy sitting on the bench playing a guitar and singing The plus he didn't sound bad at all Next time I go back I will most definitely take pictures
A little crowded and touristy- but always worth the visit. There was an African-American solo guitarist playing and singing, " I Wanna Hold Your Hand." Very lovely. A wonderful tribute.
While the park is a beautiful place to stroll around and relax on some bench while reading the newspaper, this is my least favorite entering point. Trying to fight your way through aggressive cart drivers and other people with only money on their mind is a great way to ruin your day. After you have managed to pass them, you are welcomed with multiple individuals trying to sell you overpriced pins and hats which relays on your memory of the Beatles. While this can be a nice place to visit once, I would recommend to usually stay away from this area if your on a short temper.
I'm happy to know his ideas of love still inspire people.❤️
Perfect place for photos ! Dakota is just nearby.
Very nice spot. Recommend.
Beatles’s songs all the time, this place is beautiful. You can sing and take pictures.
The John Lennon memorial, it is a simple but popular spot inside Central Park. Many tourists sang the Beatles song when I visited here. A very lovely place.
Cool experience but as one lady nearby said it was.kind of like getting to Old Faithful and then going...."Okay, what's next?" People cued up to take a pic with the Imagine mosaic.
Went in July, there was no trace of strawberries though.. Only had green plants like a jungle, had to google whether they are actually strawberry plants or not.. Just a named spot in between the park with no real significance.. Can definitely skip if on a short tour..
Nice area to leisure around. Known for John Lennon Imagine dedication.
I take my dog here in the morning before 9am for off leash hours and it’s just wonderful. He’s happy, I meet other lovely dog owners and the hustle of the city hasn’t totally gotten started yet so it’s our little oasis.
The mosaic is very popular. So many people loved John Lennon and the Beatles, so that is not surprising. Even though this memorial was busy, people were respectful and anyone that wanted their picture taken with the mosaic, were given a chance to do so. The Dakota isn't far from here, so you can easily walk there and back to the park. Definitely check it out!
Was a nice tribute to the great John Lennon! Guy singing who was good but only want Strawberry Fields! Would have been nice to hear some other great tunes! Love Central Park anyway, my favourite place in New York!
It was a really quiet and respectful place to visit. Great place to stop by in Central Park if you have a couple of minutes!
Wonderful area if Central park. Listening to the Beatles Strawberry forever.
Surreal. Sign said that this was a quiet area but there was an artist playing acoustic Beatles songs which honestly enhanced the experience. Great to finally see this monument. Come in from Central Park West and 72nd Street and bare left. Entrance is about 100ft after you enter the Park from 72nd.
James and his Beatles rendition was great!
Very interesting if you are a Beatles fan.
An extremely short hike up a small hill gets you to this cool memorial of John Lennon, not far from where he was shot. There's always a crowd of people waiting to take photos around the "Imagine" circle on the ground, sometimes covered in flowers. There's a live musician, during the times that I went. A short, but fun and meaningful trip in Central Park.
Always a place to reflect on John Lennon and his music
Wonderful spot to reflect. A street musician called Micchael J. Potter was playing some excellent music. Ever y one was chilled.
Strawberry Fields is located a the entrance to Central Park just across the street from The Dakota, the apartment building where he last lived and also the site of his assassination. I overheard a some incorrectly say that the Imagine Mosaic was the spot where Lennon was shot, but it was across the street at the entrance to The Dakota. Regardless, it is a nice tribute to a music legend.
If you're a Beatles fan, head to strawberry fields in central park. It has a pleasant atmosphere, someone was playing imagine on the guitar. The original strawberry fields in Liverpool UK has just re opened its gates to the public.
Peaceful area where you always can listen to some Beatles guitar music
It’s easy to see why John Lennon loved walking in Central Park. While visiting on a rainy day, I found it so peaceful to be in the park and walk around. We saw turtles and red Cardinals and lots of beautiful views and gardens. The place is wonderful. It’s so quiet once you get into the park, you can actually forget you’re in New York City, it’s really quite a unique experience. Make sure you if you visit New York City, get off Times Square for a while and see this beautiful park. It’s well worth the time to go and spend an afternoon.
Great resting area after walking for a few hours , but the gentleman playing acoustic guitar and singing made it a lovely experience
Definitely worth a visit if your going to Central Park
Nice little section of Central Park dedicated to the late great John Lennon.
Its always fun to walk around central park and see strawberry fields. Its a quiet zone in the grassy area. When its nice theres usually Always people playing Beatles songs next to the imagine mosaic
Always a great area to walk thru....someone is always there singing John Lennon songs. Often jam packed with tourist
A beautiful tribute to John Lennon, a wonderfully gifted musician.
Very lucky to have visited when a group was singing imagine with roses in their hands. It was a lovely sunny day. Not to be missed when you visit Central Park.
Oh God, people were singing awful songs ("Imagine" is not a song; it's a way to kill time in your dentist's waiting room). It should be illegal.
True to its description. This area is really green and shady. The cool breeze is soothing in the summer.
I like that it is considered a touristic attraction. It is really is. But not only. Winter is the time I live the park, when it is actually less touristic than the usual. Lovely place, come when not the whole JFK coming here.
This place is allegedly known for great breakfast and burger specials! Both my daughter and I opted for breakfast. She got the French toast platter and I the chocolate chip pancakes. I also got it with a side of bacon. Now my opinion is that they are honestly a bit over priced but I guess if you're looking to support these types of establishments versus the typical franchise it's the way to go. First thing I noticed was that the tables were bused immediately by a young man who was standing nearby waiting to do his job. A nice and awkward feeling at the same time.
The park itself is huge and there are lots of things to walkthrough. Strawberry Fields itself is just one among many things you can visit and enjoy, but it's nothing spectacular. It's a part of the whole, but there's also going to be a veritable ton of visitors if the weather is good. Visit if you've never been there, but don't make it your sole purpose for visiting the park.
It's a beautiful park & it's was composed about, by John Lennon. One of the greatest song writers of all time & a member of the most influential bands of all times, the BEATLES.
