REVIEWS OF Sandia Peak Tramway IN New Mexico

Randy Miller

Had the awesome experience of riding the tram to the top of Sandia Peak. It was simply amazing. Our driver had a great sense of humor and interacted with the group the entire trip. Amazing views all the way up and spectacular pictures while on top. Keep an eye out for Road Runners when down at the base!

Herman Johansen

Enjoy the incredible views on the tram ride itself and then spend as much or little time at the top as you would like. Amazing views and all directions and miles of fun hiking trails can be found at the top of Sandia Peak. I did not eat at the top because I wasn't hungry but there is a full service restaurant at the top. The whole experience is well worth your time oh, I highly recommend it.

elann2005 .

My husband and I went during the balloon fiesta weekend and it was crazy busy (up to 2 hour wait unless you get there right at open), but beautiful scenery. There's a restaurant at the top and a cool hike to Kiwanis Cabin (about 2 miles round trip). The views are breath taking!

Shelby Kennedy

The views of the Sandia are unbelievable. You have to do this. Get there at 9 right when it opens as the lines can get long during busy times. Tram ride is 15 mins each way. You will be ascending to 10,000 feet very quickly, so take plenty of water, food, and warm clothes with you if you plan to hike. Lots of beautiful trails and plenty of quiet and solitude. The new restaurant at the peak looks fancy. Guide-led hikes are available. An absolutely unmissable experience.

Tracy Payn

This is great experience. We took our grandsons and they had a blast. We went in the morning. I highly suggest going earlier rather than later. It can get crowded, and then you'll be waiting to catch the tram back down. The views are spectacular! It is cooler on top. We didn't need our jackets because it is warmer this time of year. But be prepared.

Christian Denny

Really fun thing to go do. I went and bought a ski ticket and a tram ticket, and skied half a day. They have a good deal for that. It's fast than driving all the around the mountain to get to Sandia ski. The person running the tram gives fun facts too! Also, get there +30 min if you want to take the tram to ski.

Carol Ann Cheetham

I have ridden the team many times over the years and the service and views from the cabin are exceptional. The staff on the team are knowledgeable and you can tell they enjoy their job. It's a bit expensive but when you think about how the money is used (think maintenance and safety) then it's not bad. There is a new restaurant being built and should be open soon. Great hiking and sight seeing.

Brian Eagan

Friendly staff offer tips about the mountain as you ride the aerial Tramway to the top of the mountain. Amazing views of the West face of the mountain and of the city below. Easy parking at the entrance to the Tramway. Frequent service with multiple flights per hour. Each flight is 15 minutes to the top of the mountain. A new restaurant and bar is being built at top of mountain and it should open by Fall 2019. Excellent food at restaurant and bar at base of tram. Wheelchair accessible facility including wooden observation decks at the top of the mountain. Also there is a small and free admission museum on the history of skiing in New Mexico, and the New Mexico ski Hall of Fame. The New Mexico skiing museum is located in one room at the base of the Tramway on the first floor of the Tramway terminal building. The Four Seasons Visitor Center at the top of the mountain has been recently renovated in the last 10 years and it has excellent views about the ski area on the east side of mountain as well as the city on the west side of mountain. A fun place to go with kids. Has excellent access to hiking trails in the National Forest.

Ubed Mohammed

Amazing view of the Mountain and the Cityscape below. They are a bit high on the prices, staff is friendly and they give quick facts and history of the mountains and the area. Ride itself was very good but it felt little over crowded. They should cut down on number of people they let in the tram for better views.

Mark Booth

Awesome view get there before 9 to avoid the lines you could wait up to 3 or 3 hours otherwise

Nirja Desai

Good experience, spend about an hour here for the trip up and down, more if you're planning on eating a meal there. Good tour guides and fantastic view!

Aruba Tran

View from the top is great, especially at sunset, but prepare to wait more than 2 hours just to board the tram to go up (during 2019 balloon fiesta). According to locals, during off-peak seasons the wait time is only about thirty minutes.

velnita tafoya

It was a very nice and fancy place. The scenery was exquisite. I would definitely go back again. It was a beautiful evening.

Kenneth Troy Holtzclaw

Great views of the mountain side. Come prepared to hike to see more great views.

Frances Lippmann

It is amazing how on the west side if the mountain is safe brunch and cacti and the east looks like this. Love coming here. There are hiking trails up the mountain and others at the top. The team up and down runs every 15 minutes up to 9pm.

Eric Covell

Very nice ride. Stunning views. Be prepared for the cars to be very full. Ours wasnt but others were.

USIEL V

25 per person, staff and service are good. The restaurant in the top is under construction. The view is amazing after that you can walk around but don't expect see a lot of thing is more trees more natural really.good to the people who likes hiking.

Mary Jo Babcock

Worth the trip but very very long line during Balloon Fiesta! View is spectacular!

Michael Hall

Super great way to get to Ten3, and fantastic views at the top of Sandia Crest. The tram operators have great facts and banter to entertain you on the way up, and will make sure you've got a ride back down when you're done soaking up the altitude and beautiful surroundings. The tram cars are well maintained and the whole experience makes you feel very safe as you ascend nearly a mile of elevation. Longest tramway on the continent!

Eileen Madray

The view!!! Lifts were too crowded. Unable to see if you stand in the middle. But once you get to the top the view is awesome. The wait line during weekends is long

Rachel Grant

It's a great ride to the top to see a great view. It's really busy we were in line for 30 minutes to buy tickets and then another 15 minutes to get on the cable car. When at the top there is nothing really there you can go on walks but as i was there with my disabled mother we couldn't do any of the walks. It was another 20 minute wait to go back down.

Katie Christenson

We ate at the Santiago restaurant which serves very good bison burgers. The views of the city and beyond were nice to see while eating. The tram wasn't running due to lightening but it was nice to relax and enjoy the views and good food.

Kevin Bradley

Awesome, well worth the time and money.. SEE Albuquerque from 10.000 feet above sea level and there are some easy hiking opportunities for seniors. A NICE NEW RESTAURANT OPENS SOON TOO..

Dwight Dupy

It's best to go before sunset and return when dark. Stand on West side of tram car at windows. Be the first in line/que.

Joshua McCann

Lovely visit to the Sandia Peaks Tram even on a snowy, cloudy day. The way up was the very exciting. We had the best driver/operator! Came a few weeks ago and the views were amazing. Staff is super nice and helpful. The gentleman in the gift shop seemed to really enjoy his job!

Danny Pops

A national treasure. The tram ride is beautiful. Its stunning on top of the mountain.

Nia Nguyen

Great experience. But during peak times, expect to wait for about 2hrs before boarding. Giftshop is nice with many selections. Clean bathroom.

Irina Shmatkova

I had so much fun! It is much higher than I expected. Take warm clothes with you.

Chelle Murray

Love this experience. Have done it twice now on road trips out west. This is a lovely little excursion to get off the highway for a couple of hours and see some of Nature at her finest. The staff are friendly and courteous and knowledgeable about the are and the tram pilots are hilarious.

Karen Smith

Great place to visit, the views are to die for. The ride was great too.

Dave Betz

Awesome views!! Fun cable car ride to the top. We arrived at the parking area, they said it was an hour and a half wait. Waited in ticket line was actually 3 hours. Tour busses and those that spent 25 bucks on a meal were able to go ahead of us. I dont like the ticket issues. Views were awesome. Dont go on Balloon week like we did!!

Julian Orozoc

This is a fun trip to plan and the guides on the tram are great as well. It is a little overcrowded at times but it's worth the view if you get a good spot. If not then just soak it in and dont take pictures, sometimes a story is just as good.

Natasha Stucker

There were some of the most spectacular views that I have ever seen. Definitely worth the trip.

Jency Johnson

Very reasonable prices for the tram trip up to the top. The guide in the tram was very personable and gave great info to the riders. The view from the top is gorgeous—definitely a good stop to make if you’re in area. Be cautious, you could have dizziness because you go up a steep distance in a fast time.

Mia Jerry

Upon entering there was a line and we had a $5 off coupon from the tourist book they didn't allow us to use it even though they made it available because of the holiday week. They allow up to 35 people per tram car and going up is very entertaining and exciting. Once you're on top of the mountain you're free to roam about it even hiked down. I'm so excited because they're building a restaurant on the mountain and I can't imagine how they bring the food up and down Mountain! Great family experience great photos I would recommend and come again

Raymond Ellis

I really enjoyed the Tramway. The views of the surrounding area and the mountains were awesome! The hiking trails at the top of the mountain were also interesting and provided great views

S METCALF

3 hour wait. Didn't wait. Have done it in the past so no big deal. Sure would have liked for traveling companions to experience though

vanessa Bell

Very scary and exciting. So glad we decided to go. Wonderful!!

Roberta Garza

I have lived here all my life first time going to tram had a amazing time with my loved ones. Hike was awesome. View was amazingly beautiful..

edo chig

Great views (10,381ft), it's about 15-20 degrees colder.... ..went on a Monday so crowd were minimal. They sell Oxygen canisters for those who have altitude sickness ($15-19). Guides were very knowledgeable. One can ski, hike and even parasail at the top.

Anuraag Sharma

My review won't be any different than others. This place is definitely worth your money, as the views here are amazing. It turns out you can see about 11,000 square miles from the top, which is about 10% of the entire state. If you go during sunset, the sun casts a wonderful orange wave across the city. Furthermore, if you were to go up as a storm is brewing further away, you can see lightning striking every few minutes.

Fox Mulder

Pretty cool and very high. That restaurant at the peak is good too.

Emily

This was such a fun experience! The tram was smooth and the employees were all awesome, especially the guys acting as guides and cabin operators. The view can’t be beat and is definitely the best in ABQ. You can’t miss this experience! Also, I wasn’t around for sunset, but they say that riding the tram to the top will give you the best sunset view around.

Ed Watson

Beautiful ride to the top. An amazing feat to construct and maintain such a unique way to see the mountain. Do not be put off by the price, it's well worth it.

Maria Lozano

The view is amazing. I think it's pricey considering there is not much to do at the top of the mountain except hiking. The place is under construction. They are building a restaurant.

Crystal Banks

This is an awesome thing to do! Totally worth it! The views are breathtaking. The air at that elevation is so refreshing!! This is a MUST do while in Albuquerque!!!

Mercedes Martinez

Very fun an a bit scary!!

Mr Robberts

Well worth the price of admission. The views are absolutely breathtaking. Lots of parking, short walk around the building to buy tickets, it is $25 per person. The tram runs every 30 or so minutes. Ride up takes a few minutes, the tram can be a little packed, mostly just standing room. Tram has top vents that keep it well ventilated. Once you get to the top there are amazing views from just about every corner. We enjoyed delicious cocktails at The Ten 3 restaurant. This is a must visit for anyone that may find themselves in the area and. Have about at minimum 2hours to kill.

Jesus Ivan Garcia

The restaurant was closed when we visited, they announced that they are remodeling and will be re-opening sometime in August. They landscape is beautiful. They have plenty of trails for hiking and they offer a visiting center at the top with restrooms and information about the local fauna and flora. The cost was $25 per person round-trip. They do not allow dogs or other pets. They offer a few cages where you may leave your pets while you visit. The tramway departs every 15 minutes.

Stephen Perdue

The young man operating the public address system was rude. The ticket prices were high. One would expect the operators riding the tram to share points of interest but our operator said nothing. The return system was not efficient. I find it odd that my experience was so different than that of others. Pro: The tram gets you to the top for a spectacular view.

Bobbie V

AMAZING! I took my husband here for the first time ever in his life & he loved it! The employee gave great description of the mountains while riding up & different ones when coming down! Great experience!

Penelope Romanov

Very nice. However, the tram is too expensive. There should be a resident discount. $25 for two adults too much to spend, I think $18 would be far more reasonable.

Alex Castellano

Fun, friendly, safety-conscious 'tour guides' operating the tram car, but even sardines would consider space inside the car to be ridiculously tight. Extremely limited seating (two very short and narrow) for the handicapped, as well.

OUR Random Family Adventures

Positive Terrence was awesome and hilarious!! The entire staff, from the clerks to restuarant staff to the tour guides where amazing!! You'll have a great experience!!

Sabrina Daneen Willams

Great place. We could not ride tram because of rain and thunderstorms. However, that did not take away from the exceptional staff at the ticketing office and the awesome store they had.

Jackie Ann CONKLIN

$25 round trip on the tram. Only the restaurant at the bottom was open but the new one at the top is coming in August 2019. Gorgeous views. Went in July, temp at the bottom was 95, temp at the top was 75.

Gary Landt

A little pricey but well worth it for a great view of the surrounding area.

Hi-sing Silen

I have a soft spot for mountains. There's something about being in such a beautiful place with breathtaking views. I can spend hours just looking around and enjoying the trails, views, or just chilling under a tree. It's a beautiful experience.

Alicia Barker

We had a great experience on the tram. The views were amazing and Positive Terrence was the best Tram conductor! He clearly loves his job. We highly recommend riding the Tram.

jesse ferguson

Great place for everyone to visit! I take my frinds, family and I have gone on a date here to. One of the best outdoor activities in Albuquerque.

Elizabeth Calvin

It was a really cool experience to go up this tramway. It is about 15 minutes going up to the top and the views are incredible. The gift shop at the base was cute. They are rebuilding the restaurant at the top, but the one at the base is still operating. Bundle up if you don't fair well with cooler temperatures; the top of the mountain is at least 15 degrees cooler than at the bottom. Make sure you are hydrated as well because if you aren't, you may start feeling ill due to the high altitude [over 10,000ft above sea level].

Russ Welch

Great experience... Although the tram was packed too much for my taste. This is not for those that are very scared of heights...the third leg (which cannot be seen from the bottom) is way up there.

Debbie Houser

In Albuquerque new Mexico, this is a must do. It's educational, fun, and the views from the top are amazing.. plus theirs a brand new restaurant at the top.

Daniel Flores

This is a great place to visit if you're in Albuquerque. Although the price is steep, $25 per person, the trip up there is nice and the views are awesome. The time we went there was still snow up on the mountain the air was fresh. I would like to visit again after the snow melts so we can properly explore the area as this time I didn't have the proper footwear.

Patty Culp

Views were amazing, atmosphere great, food & drinks were good when we finally got them! Service was mediocre at best. The bar was so backed up it took well over 30 mins for a glass of wine! We met people on the ride back down who never even got their wine with their dinner. I sure hope they work the kinks out! Hire more people maybe?? Manager jump in the bar and help out maybe?? I know they just opened so I will go back and hope for a better outcome.

Bradley Boehmer

Very awesome view. Nice people running the tram and counters. A must do in New Mexico when in Albuquerque.

jacqueline smith

A little pricey but worth it. We loved the tram ride. Make sure you wear hiking boots and bring your pack because there are are some great trails at the top. We will go back again!

Freddy Edgerton

Lines too long, 3 plus hour wait. Never even see the tram. View from the parking lot was wonderful, can't imagine what the Tram view would have been

Marjorie Berkowitz

Outstanding views of Sandia Mountains and Albuquerque, Restaurant at top is very elegant, we did not eat there, but ambience is lovely and comfortable. Intetesting art on walls. Definitely would go back again, and eat at summit restaurant...

Claudia Sanabria

This was a great experience! It was a little chilly up there so bring a light jacket and if you love to go to high altitudes, I strongly encourage!

John McPherson

This was one of the coolest things we have done. If you are ever in ABQ you must do this.

Tyler Carlson

This is a must do when you go to ABQ. I was a little skeptical at the $25 a piece price tag to go up but boy was it worth it. The tram ride up featured “positive Terrance” who told us all about the history of the tram and pointed out different things to see. We even saw some black bears at the bottom of a canyon. The top is about 30 degrees cooler so bring your jacket. New restaurant opening at the top will make this place very busy I’d imagine

Olivia Llamas

Amazing way to view the city! The tram ride was smooth and quick, and the attendants were friendly and helpful. Fun way to spend part of an afternoon. Just be prepared because it gets chilly at the top!

C

Awesome view. I recommend hiking. Take water

Ian Branson

Amazing vistas, scenic desert, and some derelict ski lifts (at the top) await you on the pleasant journey up off the hot Albuquerque basin. Great for hikers, sightseers, and families. There isn't much besides nature at the top. The restaurant was under construction when we visited. The flies we're eating us alive, but definitely a nice way to spend a peaceful afternoon. The trip itself is uneventful, save for the slightly unnerving "float and swing" as you descend past a support tower. The view is spectacular. Have your cameras at the ready, and if they can shoot video, do so.

Terrell Nixon

Finally able to ride the tram. Have visited 4 times but every time high winds closed down the tram. We did the sunset ride and it was worth the wait. On the way up the guide was great at giving us facts and making the ride fun. At the top the restaurant is not finished but when it is it will be packed I am sure. Wow it will have one of the best views in NM. Was over a 20 degree temperature drop from bottom to top. A good bit do see up top but most people on our ride just went straight inside to wait for the next tram to take us down. Highly recommend it. Maybe come a little early and get the sunset from the top vs the tram. Ours waited on a few people that were late so we actually missed sunset. But you can take the tram up anytime and walk around and then take the last tram down :).

Bill Shipley

As always. Great experience! Worth the price as theres no way you will ever experience that any other way. Beautiful.......

chrisdgg30

It's awesome!! After my first ride 10 years ago I told myself never again!! I work for Bob's painting and am doing some work at the new Sandia peak restaurant, been going up and down every day, the crew ensures the safety and are very professional they are funny and very nice. I enjoy the view every day.

Jennifer Wetzel

This place is fantastic. The views from the top are amazing and the history while riding up to the top was great. I can’t wait to go back!

John May

Great views and a smooth ride. The restaurant at the top is great. Try the bar and order a signature cocktail. The ride down was super smooth as well.

diana miller paslay

We had a blast! The views (of course) were spectacular! We had cocktails and lunch at Ten 3. Service was exceptional & the food was amazing! A must when in Albuquerque!

Bradley Digon

Everytime I come to Albuquerque I visit the tram and it never disappoints. It usually isnt busy but during the balloon fiesta week it is super busy. Like I said before tho, it never disapoints.

Debra Ludwig

Loved the ride to the top! Beautiful up there! Nice breeze, met some great people as well. Scenery was gorgeous! Will go again when the restaurant reopens!

Hannah Mapes

I love taking the tram up to the top of Sandia Peak. It's the fastest and easiest way to get up the mountain. It's a little pricy, but worth it to me to not have to drive up. The views from the top are great and on the way up, the operator points out different things. There is a visitor center at the top with bathrooms, water, and a vending machine. This is the best way to experience Sandia Peak.

Mallory Gibbs

Came for the fiesta, so obviously it was swamped. Ate at Sandiago's so we could skip the line. I believe that the trams were packed slightly too full, however it was a great view. Good guides, and overall a good experience.

John Thornton

A must do experience - 15 minutes of breathtaking views. Fear of heights? Don’t worry, my lad and I don’t like heights, but felt very safe. Guide in cabin points out interesting things to see and you have change of seeing black bear, mountain lion and plane crash wreckage from 1955. At top there are nice walks and a restaurant coming later in August. Shop at foot of mountain had lots of interesting items. We went 9.30am mid week and not busy. The return journey was even quieter. First visit we were turned away as lift closed due to weather. Not evident from ABQ and it’s a long drive to find it shut - there could be a warning on approach road or on website. When we returned next day we were told it reopened 10 minutes after we were turned away. Maybe there is an app or FB or other that could be or is being used. Would be a nice quiet time to visit, shortly after reopened if you could find out.

Ross Wilson

Historical place showcasing the astounding acheivements of human engineering. The tramway path seems like it would have been an impossible accomplishment but it is a great success and has been operating for many many years. Enjoy a lovely long walk at the top.

John Frick

A really convenient way to get to the top of the mountain and get a great view. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Albuquerque, even if you aren't all that into hiking. The trails at the top are very accessible, and the views are breathtaking.

Barbara Barnes

Beautiful scenery! But long lines for tram both ways. New restaurant had hour or more wait times, food was not that good either.

Jason Green

It is wonderful. I am very glad I went to the top very beautiful.

Chuck Creamer

Nice ride up with a great view. Temperature was about 30 degrees cooler than at the ground level Only wish I brought better walking shoes on my trip to New Mexico.

Scott Golden

Unfortunately after waiting for an hour in line to purchase tickets, that we were told would be a 2 hour wait to get on the tram, we only moved up about 10 percent of the way. The people in charge were promoting a special to skip the line, if a customer would spend 25 dollars or more in the restaurant per person, tickets (that were added on at regular price) would be brought to their table and they skipped having to stand in line. The problem was that those people filled the tram and we were left baking in the sun. When the people in the front of the line asked why they were waiting 20 minutes to be allowed to buy tickets, and two trams left without them, they were told about how they could skip the line. They asked for the manager and was told they didn’t know where he was. This was a money grab and not good customer service. I heard the view is spectacular but didn’t get an opportunity to see it.

Mark Ottum

Just an awesome place to visit. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Plan for a 3 hour trip. Worth every minute.

Allen Reade

I live in a stunning part of the country. If you want to see our area like the eagles do, take the Tram. If you are passing through town you will never forget it. If you are a local, you will be reminded how lucky you are. Love it.

Ismael Castillo

Great attraction!!!.. stopped on our roadtrip and was not disappointed. Was very cool. So glad we came . Very scary for someone afraid of heights (me) but did it for the family. Lots of awesome views going up and coming down ..(15 min ride each.way). U can stay at the top as long as u want and yes u need a while to walk around and see everything.

Tom Peet

Cannot beat the views from over 10,000 feet. One bit of advice. If there is a line, it is worth going to have dinner and skip the line. Our operator, Jesse, was hilarious and offered tons of information to distract this acrophobic. Make sure you dress in layers because the temperature can really drop towards the top.

Melissa Alexander

This is a must stop on any visit to Albuquerque. Fifteen minutes of riding in a glass tram to the top of the Sandias to hike and shoot pictures of the mountains and valleys. Beautiful views await you including a panoramic view of greater Albuquerque.

Samuel Ojetola

Great view of the whole city from 10,000 feets $25 for a round trip on the tram. $15 for a one way trip.

Rebecca Wong

Longer than I thought! Long line waiting (30min) for Saturday noon but worth trying. People end up breathing each in the cable car and fingers crossed for not with too many screaming kids. Scene worth doing , price for tickets is reasonable. Super windy up there for most days, get your jackets and tighten hats.

Matthew Gross

Always awesome views and a fun flight to the top. The new addition of the new restaurant Ten3 has taken away the only complaint I’ve had in years past, which was the subpar High Finance restaurant. Superb experience!

Lisa Coombs

The tram ride up to Sandia peak us spectacular! And the ride down is even better, especially if you are standing at the window on the way down!

Andrew Armijo

Incredibly gorgeous. I wish I could do this everyday. Very kind people. Great experience. I recommend it to everyone

Leonela Nelson

My first time going up there. Super cool! Get in line early so u get a window view. On top there is only a one stall restroom for W and one for M so go before you come up to avoid the line. Since we went around sunset the views were breathtaking. The guys that narrate the rides were cool and gave fun facts. Very enjoyable experience, I would recommend.

John Bordy

It was such a great experience going up and down on the tramway; the views were incredible and the ride was smooth. I think the tickets are priced fairly. The next time, I think it would be fun to take the tram up, and then hike down.

Dennis Boesen

Fun excursion to a mountaintop forest with magnificent views in nearly every direction. Even better now that the restaurant at the top has re-opened. Note that the temperature at the top will be 10-15 degrees cooler than the base and it is usually breezy.

Jasen Kolev

Smooth 15 min ride, amazing views from the observation decks, the restaurant and the hiking trails on the top.

Jackie Holt

Was a great ride and scenery. Loved the gift shop and restaurant.

Tammi Miller

Absolutely loved the Tramway! Sandia Mountains beautiful gorgeous mountains! We rode the tram way from bottom to top and we hiked a few trails. I recommend Sandia Mountains to everyone!

Marisela Guardado

Never agian this experience was horrible not to mention the one hour wait just to get on the ride and just to get to the other side that they're under construction we could not enjoy the rest of the park and they were not telling anybody about it they were just letting people get tickets get to the other side I'm find out that the rest of the park was under construction so that they can go ahead and make their money which is really disrespectful deceitful! And on one occasion returning them back from the ride we saw several employees drinking beer while working how in the world can you do that when the safety of people's lives is in your hands!

Juan Ruíz De Esparza

Nice ride. Tram operators give great details of the mountain range. Great place for hiking. Haven't been here for winter, but I get comments that's it's great for skiing and snowboarding. There are two restaurants, Sandiago's (at the bottom) and 10/3 at the top. Sandiago's has a great staff and food is nice. 10/3 has the better tasting meals, but they're a tad underhanded, so you can expect some wait times on the meals and drinks. Overall it's a great place to come with family, either for the views, hikes, meals, you'll a great time.

D Sanborn

Positive aka Terrance was very entertaining. We enjoyed the trip down with him as the guide . The view was spectacular. Worth every penny we spent.

Rhonda Usry

AWESOME, experience. Tram takes 15 min. To get to top. Over 2 miles up and over 10,000 feet up. SPECTACULAR views. Very cold at the top, 37 degrees and strong wind gusts. Observation tower has 360 views. Take a jacket. A " must do" in your travels. Scenery is breathtaking.

Diana Owen

We had such a great experience!! We celebrated my husband's 35th birthday riding the Tram. He's not a big fan of heights or tight spaces Lol

Chris Hernandez

Great spot to take in the views of the city and Rio Grande Valley. Many trails to hike once you're at the top! Bring your out of town friends and family, they'd love it too!

Keith Kendrick

The views are amazing. We saw mountain climbers on the side of the drops, snow or ice in shaded places and large granite rock formations. The guide up and down the cable car ride was very knowledgeable and informative. The cable ride each way took about 15 minutes. If you are afraid of heights, you'll probably be ok. The elevation at the top where you stop is around 18,000 ft above sea level.

Thomas Wagner

If you're passing through Albuquerque, this place is very easy to get to and you can make it a relatively fast trip, or you spend a while here at the restaurant. So if you're in a hurry, stop by real quick to see the awesome views and experience the tram ride. If you have time you can enjoy the awesome restaurant and bar that is at the top of mountain. If you like amazing views, do not pass by this place without visiting.

Willie McKemie

A wonderful diversion especially for someone just passing through. As a civil engineer, I found the mechanics fascinating. About the only downside is the popularity; the cars are crowded.

Keith Barry

Unparalleled views from the car and at the top of the mountain and the staff and guides are really good. Some more information whilst in the queue would have been good though as no one knew what was happening and the were a lot of people waiting. Sunsets are fabulous, worth the wait.

Kalomba Thomas

I recommend this trip for everyone (who is not afraid of heights!) It’s a great time for all! Beautiful ride.

Matthew Castillo

The price is substantial for a party of six, but the view is outstanding. You won't see nine percent of New Mexico, outside of flying in a plane or helicopter. It's worth the visit, and plan to take your time, visiting all of the areas on top. Staff was friendly, and fairly knowledgeable.

Because I came during the Balloon Fiesta it was very busy but worth the long wait to see the sights at the top. The Tram was very safe and held about 45 people each 15 minutes. The history of the old mountains and new restaurant manager is better. I stopped in for some fries and a cold drink. I would definitely go back to try the hiking trails without the huge crowds.

Fun time. Went up at sunset and it was beautiful. And cold. They were attentive and accommodating with my grandma and her walker. The view from tram car and the top are worth trip and the cost.

Albert Conner

The site was great to see but I will it even more great looking in the s Snow weather too. To look out over the valley is beautiful...

Amber DeVan

The views are beautiful! It's peaceful up there with a well maintained viewing area. During the summer you can hike the trails and see the ski lifts still and waiting for winter. It's usually a great deal cooler up there if you're trying to beat the heat as well.

uhplumber

Beautiful views and tramway ride is fun. We were there during balloon festival and had to wait 2 1/2 hrs to get on tram so plan accordingly. Good restaurant on top of mountain.

This place is amazing! If you're looking for something different to do in the area this is it. The tram ride is super fun and provides wonderful views as you climb to the top of this beautiful mountain in the middle of the desert. It was a very unexpected very pleasant surprise to start in the desert and end up in the pine trees and cooler temperatures. Absolutely loved it and would recommend this adventure!

Carolyn Wells

What a treat! I was visiting from San Francisco and my niece insisted on taking me to experience the tram ride up the mountain. Oh how thrilled I was to capture such wonderful views going to and fro. I would certainly recommend this experience to those visiting the area. Sandia Peaks, thank you for the warm hospitality!

John Bare

Well worth it! We had the same "host" in the car on both trips. I think his name was Terrance and he was awesome.

Jamie Valentine

Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the views on the tram and top of the mountain were incredible! We didn't get a chance to eat at the new restaurant, but we will definitely be making a trip back to do some hiking and will check out the restaurant then! The only downside was that they pack the trams full of people, so they're hot and cramped until you start moving and get some air flow. I think if there were about 10 less people per tram, it would be perfect!

Chanda Crawley

Loved it. Gorgeous full of color and life even with the 45 min delay back down due to thunder storms. Such a peaceful place!

Mary Catherine Albenzi

I've never experienced anything like this before, so it was quite the fun experience. The beauty of the area is amazing.

JC Ochoa

What an awesome experience; this place had beautiful views, great narrator (Ashley) and a super helpful gift shop cashier who helped me customize a "magnetic" bottle opener! I will definitely be coming back with friends and family!

Sandia Peak Tramway has long been a stable of the city of Albuquerque. It currently holds the record for being the second longest tramway in the world and it also hosts some incredible views. During my latest visit, I was pleased to see that everything was still running as smoothly as I remember. Ticket prices are $25 per person per round trip. Which isn’t terrible with all things considered. Two tram carts run opposite of each other going up and down the west facing side of the Sandias. The wait time for a tram to arrive is no more than 15 minutes. The boarding process is fairly simple and the cart has near 360 degree windows which allow for maximum viewing. Tour guides are present in each cart and spend some time informing visitors on both the history and the geography of the mountains. My tour guide was not only informative, but extraordinarily friendly. Which is always refreshing. The observatory at the top allows visitors to view everything to east of the mountains as far the eye can see. From there you can either take off on a hike or await for a tram to return and take you back down. Much like the tram itself, everything was running smoothly during my most recent trip. Tourists both domestic and foreign will appreciate not only the majesty of the mountains, but the efficiency in which Sandia Tramway is run. Definitely near the top of the list for any activity to do if visiting the city of Albuquerque.

Lovely view. About a 15 minute ride to the top. Aim for sunset. Restaurant at the base of cable car also very nice views and lovely staff. Good food as.well.

Tim Carter

The tram is clean, fast and affordable. They wash the windows each morning so early risers get crystal clear photos through the glass. The ride is very smooth and safe.

Tyrel Tachibana

The wait was long and the price decent, but the experience was priceless! My family and I loved it and we plan to go to the top of the world again!

Michelle Simpson

A beautiful way to see the valley! The trams run every 20 minutes, so there was no wait time. We ate lunch at the recently opened 10-3 Restaurant at the top. Food was very reasonably priced (only a little more than Subway a few days ago!) I had the smash burger (added green chiles and applewood bacon), and my husband had the smoked brisket with sauerkraut. Both came with a mountain of fries. They also have salads. The views were spectacular!!

Kirk Wood

Amazing views of Albuquerque and the surrounding area. I recommend going an hour or two before sunset to catch the sunset on the ride down. It's pretty spectacular and worth the admission cost. Both restaurants (Sandiagos Grill and Ten 3) have amazing views as well as great food. If you're looking for Mexican food and a more casual atmosphere I recommend Sandiago's. Overall a must see sight in the Albuquerque area.

We came on a Saturday at 10am and only waited 30 min to get on Tram. Tram is 15 min. $25 per person for going and return. You stand the whole time on the tram. There are flush toilets at the top. We did go to the restaurant and it was fabulous. Return trip was a longer wait. If there is bad weather you can be up there for hours before returning so bring plenty of water and snacks. We did a little hiking while we were up there.

Brian Geppert

Astounding views, fun ride up since they have an operator to explain the history, geography, etc. Soon they will have a brand new restaurant at the top too! Nice walking trails. Has a building at the top with restrooms.

Jenny Ramos

This is a very fun and unique attraction. It is a 15 ride up the mountain, 15 minute ride down the mountain with breathtaking views and a tour guide who is fantastic. That being said, I would have liked to see more things to do at the top. The 10-3 is currently under construction, so much of your time is spent standing in line waiting for the shuttle to return. It's definitely a do once item, probably best to save it for doing during the school year though.

Kavana Udayakumar

Best of experience in the tramway. I am someone who fear heights but the ride to and fro didn't make me sick at all, so I assume anyone can board this flight! Up on the mountains we get a beautiful aerial view of NM and about 9% view of Mexico. A must try I would suggest all.

Kent Volgamore

Very enjoyable experience, after our 3 hour wait to get tickets...seems that tour buses had preference and got right in. We even got there early..0915. Wait is outside and quite a climb. We did get to know our neighbors well..visiting from England..driving Route 66. Tramride was but cramped..entertained by young men..View up top was Awesome!

Abeer Mustafa

A must visit place. If you are in or around Albuquerque do not miss it. Don't forget to take the wind breaker as it can get chilly on top. Beautiful and amazing views on top and a trail to hike if you like.

Dolores Stevens

We went up late in the day and were able to see the mountainside and Albuquerque in daylight. The tram was fun and felt completely safe. From the top, we watched an impressive sunset. Seeing the city lit up at night is a beautiful sight as well. The restaurant on top was closed for construction when we were there. It will be a nice addition when completed. Might want to bring a jacket along as it was a bit chilly up top in the wind.

Annette Birabwa

It's an interesting experience. You get to see the hills of Sandia while on top. It was really nice.

Dusty Berry

Enjoyable experience. I suggest getting there early cause the do cramps the people in but awesome experience.

Scott Matherly

Definitely check this out and try to go an hour before sunset. Trams run every 15-20 minutes. It ascends to over 10,000 feet but the ride is slow and gentle. Views are epic. Get in line early to get the best spots in the tram which is standing room only for the most part. Bathrooms and restaurants at the bottom and top. Ride is 15 minutes. Well worth the cost.

Nicole De Leon

Highly recommend going on the tramway. The views beautiful and peaceful. Can't wait for the restaurant to open.

Michael Hudson

Fantastic views, it is quite a ride up. The tram operator was great, good info...if you are into hiking, and you are in Albuquerque, this is a must do...I understand that the restaurant at the top is open now, I would probably make the trip again just to eat at the restaurant for the views

Lauren Mathews

Went on the tram 20 years ago and again today with my kids (teens, their first time)... just as thrilling as it was years ago to be swept up the mountain thousands of feet in this smooth ride. Sorry we missed the grand opening of the new restaurant at the top... it opens tomorrow. Put this on your to -do list if visiting Albuquerque, or having people come into town.

Amber Randolph

Amazing service. Amazing food. Worth every penny

Filipe Centenaro

Nice view!! It's a long way, to the top! Ski area when you get there. They are building something up there, looks like a Café. The Restaurant in the bottom serves good hamburgers but was not very organized.

Tony Angles

The staff is really good and entertaining. The only thing I didn't enjoy is having to be at different lines, I probably spent nearly 3 hours just waiting in line. But don't let that discourage you, the wait is worth it, the place is beautiful. Be aware that at the top you may experience altitud sickness so stay hydrated, it is very windy and chilly at some point so bring something to bundle up.

Remona Koop

Awesome views, from ride and at top! Longest (2.7 miles) suspension tramway in USA, second longest in world. Guides on tram were very knowledgeable, friendly.

Arthur Trujillo

Awesome time. Great view of city. Service was as slow as a snail.

Brian Singer-Towns

This is a recommended attraction and we can see why. We got the early and we're one of the first ones up. The views were spectacular! There is a guide in the team who have very interesting commentary on the way up and down. The one thing they could have warned us about is that there was still lots of snow on the ground so no real hiking for us at the top.
