This is a must visit and be prepared to be blown away. We visited two consecutive days. The first day we toured the Big Room which was laden with stalagmites and stalactites which form highly intricate rock sculptures. The path is man made concrete with a hand rail and is well lit. The bat flight show is amazing at dusk, even though that night the bats trickled out, rather than funneled out. We went back on day two and walked into the bat cave entrance. This was an entirely different walk. Much darker and smelling of both bird and bat guano, the cave is shared by swallows and bats. Some bats were still flying within at 10:30 am. This a downhill walk and is much more dark and wet. The cave is extensive with formations of varied natural design. You can see holes deep into the earth and some fallen rocks. So wonderfully interesting and beautiful.

This was our first stop in New Mexico. I had recently visited the caverns in San Antonio, and was told that these put those to shame. It truly is something that you must see in person as pictures just do not do justice. It is a HUGE! After you pay you can either walk the natural entrance or take the elevator down. We opted for the elevator as we were pressed for time. The caverns themselves are remarkable, it was a bit cool, mid 50s, so remember to bring a light jacket. They have very well thought out paths that will bring you from the start to the finish. The lighting is designed well to highlight certain big or unique formations. We were able to walk through the whole cavern in about an hr at a leisurely pace.

Amazing experience in the caves. I’d highly recommend to take tours. Don’t forget to have flashlight ideally not cell phone if you plan on exploring on your own.

Susan Vogler

Beautiful caverns , walk through at own pace , elevators can be taken down for those who wish easier entrance . The Caverns are enormous you have no feeling of being closed in or confined. Plan at least a half day to enjoy .

Cami Daniels

Exceeded our expectations!!! The cave is huge and has so many interesting features. We went to the bat flight program in the evening, stayed the night in Carlsbad, and hiked the cave the next morning. Go in the morning to avoid crowds. My young kids handled the hike in the natural entrance just fine. Great junior ranger program - ask at front desk. No food allowed, but they have a small concession stand in the cave with sandwiches.

Victor Engström

The coolest place I've ever been to. make sure u bring a sweater and shoes with good traction because it's cold and slippery. The best experience is to take the natural entrance down, go through all the cave and walk back up the same way, skip the elevator. Walking back up was amazing, you see the cave in a whole new perspective since u naturally looking up. Amazing atmosphere!

Lenore Webb

Always lovely to visit. Wished I lived close by as this mile and half walk would become my daily exercise. Year long park pass $80 and always cool and co.fortable inside. Also the peace you receive from the surroundings. Better deal than a gym membership.

Lola Sanchez

Greatest time with my kids! Kids 12 under are free! The big room is the best

Justin Stanizzi

This is one of the few parks you can do in a half day. The actually trek down into the caverns and then through them take no more than 6 hours. I did it in about 4. Once you're down there, it's an easy, slow walk around the caverns. It's dark down there, but you really don't need any equipment unless you're hard of sight. Stick around for the bats leaving the cave during the warmer parts of the year.

Mark Kirschke

Had a fun trip to the caverns. Lots of walking and interesting things to see. Make sure you time your visit in the summer when the bats are there and make their nightly exodus in search of food.

Goodtime Gaming

What can I say about this place that isnt good? Answer: Nothing. Why? Its Carlsbad, that's why. The natural formations here are outstanding and it truly amazes me that mother nature can make something like this.

Taylor Rabe

This is seriously some of the coolest cave formations I’ve ever seen. Take the additional tours if you can, it’s worth it! The Rangers were all knowledgeable, passionate about what they do, and great storytellers.

Kindra Lorfing

WALK DOWN, RIDE UP & expect a wait for the elevators. It's a bummer if only 1 is running but, it's not as bad as walking back up. Trust me, I've done it with a 4 year old in tow or on my back. BRUTAL!!!Do not wear sandals! Take and drink water. Bring a head lamp and or glow sticks for the kiddos. Avoid going if there is a school field trip. Kids are noisy and it really takes away from the experience. Plan to go early evening and see the bats fly out for their evening feast. Take your time and enjoy this magical and mysterious place. Almost forgot.. They are open nearly every day rain or shine. Hope this helps!

Eric Barnett

Awesome cavern with the most cave formation I have seen. Self guided tour allows you to do things at your own pace. Easy access (elevator) for those that want to get into the cave quickly.

Dianna Bennett

Breathtakingly Beautiful! The hours that my family and I traveled was worth it. The almost 2 hours hike was worth it as well! The view was so calming and wonderful. Carlsbad Caverns National Park is amazing. I recommend that you allot your day here to see everything that the place can offer! Hope to be back again.

Pam Maes

My family had the best time. The Caverns are truly magical. There were so many things to see that we will have to do it again. The souvenirs displayed were unique and fun. Fun for any age group but it isn't for the faint of heart. Fun... Should be a wonder of the world.

Thomas Cera

A truly magnificent experience! The NPS did it right here. An option to hike 1.25 miles or ride an elevator to the main area - the Big Room. There, another 1.25 mile hike will take you on an awesome journey through the cave. Most is handicap paws accessible. It is dimly lit on the trail but the cave features are well lit. Unbelievable beauty underground. Don’t forget to plan to stay for the bat show at sunset. Rest rooms and restaurants are also available on site. While here, go down the street to Guadalupe Mountains NP.

Lacey Wheeler

Definitely worth the trip to see the beautiful caverns! But beware, lots of walking involved. If you take the natural entrance, I recommend walking it on the way down I to the caverns (especially if you have lower back or hip problems) and not hiking it on the way out. Whew!

Christina Perez

This was a very big cavern! We walked a lot and saw lots of amazing sites underground. Does get very dark in some parts where you need a flashlight but other than that very cool temperature inside and the formations are amazing!

Kristi H

Enjoyed the walk down through the natural entrance and through the cave. Nice employees in the concession/shirt sale areas in the big room. We enjoyed the scenic loop(dirt road) back down to Whites City. The moon hike at night was enjoyable as well.

Charene Robinson

What an awesome experience. We drove from ABQ just to see the caverns. Definitely worth it. We scheduled online and when we arrived we picked up our tickets and were escorted to the elevator that quickly took us more than 700 ft straight down. Super cool. We purchased tickets for the Kings Palace Tour. Our Ranger Dave did a great job explaining everything and entertaining us along the way. This is an amazing experience and we recommend it for people of all ages.

Jen Jon

Went to see the bats fly out. Not only did I get to see them the Rangers also tell you all about them. You can also adopt a bat to help save the bats. So amazing.

mike rodriquez

A great experience for the whole family!! Especially for anyone who loves natural science and hygiene! For best enjoyment plan for a multi-day trip A great experience for the whole family!! Especially for anyone who loves natural science and hiking! For best enjoyment plan for a multi-day trip.

Cody Leatham

Went there as a kid with the science club and thought it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen. Flash forward 27 years to me taking my children there and it's still one of the most incredible experiences that I can recall. If you can happen to be there on a slow day and find yourself all alone, with nobody around, take a few minutes to just sit back, close your eyes, and open yourself up to allow the energy of the Caverns to absorb into your mind and soul. It's a spiritual realm all of its own.

Jessica Parker

One of the 10 wonders of the world. Very neat to take your family to see. Travel down 750ft underground into a cave of wonders! Altho Over 120 miles (190 km) of cave passage has been explored and mapped. It has been mapped to a depth of 1,600 feet (490 m), making it the second deepest limestone cave in the U.S.! Very fascinating to go see!

Daniel Scheve

Breathtakingly beautiful place created by mother nature herself! Can be brutal on the knees due to the steep drops in elevation on the smooth path through the entire cavern. Very worth it to spend 2.5 to 3 hours of your day if you take your time.

Luke Rezvani

Simply amazing so many cool things to do! I recommend walking down and back up is a hard hike it is for experienced people only otherwise take the elevator back up. I hike both ways and I am so tired

Cody Jacks

Super cool cave system. Very well established with gift shops in the cave and at the visitor center on ground level. There is tons of information in the visitor center and along the path through the cave. There is a long way into the cave where you can walk 80 stories down from surface, or you can ride an elevator down those 80 stories and walk around the main room of the cave for a shorter, less strenuous outing. Very reasonably priced as well; $15 for a 3 day pass.

Doug Christiansen

Worth a stop. Decent price for an incredible experience. Kids loved it. Wished it was open later than 5 as the bats come out after that. Staff could have been more friendly at the check in.

fred fulford

Incredible place. Great that it is far away from any town. Lovely setting at the entrance. We went in the week so it was not that busy, but it seems to get busy on weekends we were told. Deffinatly walk down into the caverns, as you see so much more, settings and wildlife. Massive place. I feel I would come back and do it again but with a guided tour. Bit spooky in places but stunning down there.

Laughing Mclemore

I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. There is a lot of walking through the cave but its all worth it. We came down into the cave through the natural entrance which adds a lot of walking but definitely cool to see. There is an elevator at the end so you don't have to walk all the way in and then walk all the way out. Great place, definitely will visit here again.

Dinesh Shrestha

Wonderful cave. Make a plan to spend at least 2 hours so that you can see all the books and corner of the cave. This cave is about 800 ft deep. You can choose to take an elevator or walk though the natural pathway. I recommend to take the natural entrance down to the big room and may be take an elevator to way back to the top. You will also enjoy the scenic beauty on the way to this cave.

Shane Horne

The Caverns are amazing. Go down through the natural cave entrance hike and take the elevator back up. It was well worth the trip out here. There staff are nice and very helpful. There facilities are modern and clean.

Birdie H.

If you're looking for a really awesome place in New Mexico visit, this is definitely high up on my list. The cave was an AMAZING sight to see. Like others said, take the natural entrance and see how beautiful every part of the cavern is. Tons of fantastic natural formations and fascinating placards that explain some of the process behind it. Expect to spend at least 2 hours here. Definitely take some good walking shoes, and some water! The walk is interesting but very long, so it's important to stay hydrated. This is, of course, a tourist destination, so also anticipate some rude people who will speak very loudly in the cavern, despite being told not to. The park employees all seemed very enthusiastic about their jobs and very eager to tell us about the cave. The gift shop is also very cool and had lots of great souvenirs to buy.

Crazy Sixtynine

Good walking exercise. Nice and cool inside the cave. I didn't want to come back out to the 100 degrees outside. A must see at least once to enjoy it. It was about 10 years we had not visited the caverns. Need to make a trip more often. We would of really enjoyed staying for the bat flight but, had to drive back home. Maybe next time.

malcolm curry

One of the best stops along our cross country trip! Takes about 1-2 hrs to walk the cave from the elevator. Make sure to bring a tripod for any photography. You can use flash but a long exposure photo will show the cave much better. There are lights on many of the highlights so you can still get decent pics without flash or tripod. There is a place to buy snacks and drinks in the cave but it is a limited selection. The audio tour is well worth the $5 and has a children's option.

Salvador zuniga

Truly amazing place to visit, loved the experience. Looking forward to come back with more time to spend. Park rangers are really helpful and friendly.

Shrihari Maiya

Well maintained natural beauty! We opted for self tour and spent around 2 hours. We hiked while coming out and it was a medium hike, and this took around 1.5 hour.

Christian Richards

Incredible experience to visit Carlsbad Caverns. Walk through the caverns, the outside grounds and watch the bats all fly out together in the evening. One of America’s must-see locations for sure!

Chris Scotti

Even though it was hot up top, it was cool and downright amazing in the caverns. Highly recommend doing one of the private tours if you have time. We did the Kings cavern, and it covered some things not seen in the self-guided tour.

Caterra Rainey

The caverns themselves are absolutely breathtaking and kids under 16 are free! Plenty of parking and lots of signage so you don't get lost. It was an incredible way to spend 3 hours out of the heat.

N. Daniel Barrera Aguilar

Amazing. No word to describe this wonderful to 750 ft under the ground. My recommendation is not wait until they close the caverns, the line for the elevator is really long and take up to 1 hour to get out from there. Other than that is a great experience. And please take care of the place. It's an amazing gem in NM.

U. Zak S.

Awesome cave, a good hike down there. It is huge. Amazing how the water slowly carved the cave in millions kf years and amazing how the trails and paths going down there were built by workers.

Cathy

Amazing cavern! I've been to Mammoth Cave, but this one is truly awe inspiring. The hike down is fun too, but not for the weak of knees or faint of heart.

Desirae Clark

Wonderful to visit! I anticipate only doing the climb down once, though. I think taking theelevators both ways will be more enjoyable next time. Stay for the bats but don't get there before 5:55 and sit on your right when you enter the amphitheater or toward the middle.

Natasha Springer

This is the most beautiful cave my husband and I have ever visited, and we've been to countless caves. The park staff also seemed very dedicated to preserving the park, and educating the visitors about the importance of being mindful. They were also very willing to answer questions if you had any. Definitely a place everyone should visit once! Absolutely breathtaking!

James Maxwell

Great cave with guided and self guided tours, good casual restaurant and gift stores. Helpful rangers. Fun bat fly out at sundown. Great two days.

christina grant

Beautiful formations unfortunately a lot of them are dead and no longer growing but they are still great to admire. I suggest walking down into the cave and taking the elevator back up as it is a long trek. A light jacket would be a good accessory in case you get a little chilly in the bottom part of the cave.

Daniel theNerd

Pictures truly don't do this national treasure justice. It is so amazing you truly need to see it for yourself. Prepare for quite the walk to get in, seniors and handicap can use the elevator. Also if during the summer months you have to see the bat flight, it is amazing.

Chenelle Archer

No matter how many times we visit, it never gets old. Such a fascinating, natural earth thing. Wonderful and beautiful and worth the trip. Every time. Love it!

Arielle Leigh

Absolutely amazing I've never seen anything like these caverns before. We took the natural entrance and walked down 750 feet to the bottom and walked to the great room. Stalactites and stalagmites galore... Once in a lifetime experience.

Casey Anderson

The cave is absolutely beautiful. The bat show at night is so cool and fun to watch. There's two gift shops inside, am elevator to bring you down to the cave if unable to hike down, and a restaurant inside (great food). My only recommendation is to bring a jacket, because its a bit cold in the cave. Also bring lots of room on your camera/phone. You're gonna want to take some breathtaking photos.

Jennifer Wetzel

This places is spectacular. I cannot wait to go back. The trails are great and the caverns are breathtaking. It was well worth a few hour drive.

Michael Truong Nguyen

Amazing cave venture, the big room is 1-2 hour self guide tour. The elevator is nice touch and save time to get back up. We also did the King's Palace tour to see additional rooms. The nature entrance has lock gate that closes ~3:30PM. Bring dinner and stay for the bat flight. It is amazing to see thousand of bat at once.

Leslie Gray

Well worth it! I would suggest going early on guided tours then self exploring. Definitely watch the bats leave.

TSM_Nausea

Breathtaking, like being on another planet. Pictures and video do not do justice for the beauty here. Stunning, awe inspiring, magnificent! The lighting is done well. Bring a jacket if you go, it is a bit chilly.

Alex Soler

If you're coming here, get ready to have your mind blown by how big and expansive these cave systems are. The Natural Entrance is the best way to go down, but there's also an elevator if you can't make the walk or have smaller children. The quiet, dark atmosphere is so impressive that even the kids we came across were quiet and well-behaved. It's also just popular enough to have a fairly regular stream of people, but not so many that you're surrounded at all times. Definitely worth a visit! You can see the Big Room and do the Natural Entrance in about 3-4 hours of walking.

Joel Bergin

If you like cold climates like I do this is the place to go and escape the heat!!! While you are escaping the heat you can enjoy the amazing view of the caverns! It truly is beautiful and a site to see

Kenneth Kinler

Significantly more developed than I expected. A very well-built pathway lined with a rail traverses the caves. It is very easy to navigate. A good portion of the cave is wheelchair accessible. You take an elevator from the main lobby area directly into the cave and are just steps away from breathtaking vistas.

Rachel Stewart

A Delight! Road tripped here with our gals group and we had a fun time exploring the caverns. Smelly at some points and it could have been some natural gas from the super sized lunch but who's counting anyway if we had a blast. ;-)

Kristy Farr

Be prepared for a steep walk but it was awesome. It is cool so bring a jacket and wear tennis shoes. There is an elevator for handicapped accessibility and the great room is easy for a wheelchair to get around. Very cool experience.

Hank Marks

Amazing park! They have fabulous rangers and great tours. I did the left hand and King’s palace tours and they were both great. There was no one there since kids were going back to college. The walk back up the natural entrance was really cool.

shelbbyyy

Love coming here. I have been to the cave 15 times over the last 23 years and it never gets old. I love being able to bring my kids here now

Jessica Millican

My family and I love visiting here. Warning for parents with non walking babies: NO STROLLERS ALLOWED. Bring a carrier! We forgot and forgot ours so drove 2 hours just to take outside pictures (which is beautiful). If you forget your carrier, they sell the Infantino one for $35 but I'm not sure how large it is. Otherwise, it's a very neat place to visit.

Marlene Phillips

An outstanding national park. Went on the tour, it was completely worth it. We've been to other caves; this one is different in how it was formed (no running water, just water interacting with chemicals in the stone), and so the formations look very different from caves formed by underground rivers. Worth the trip.

Shauna Morgan

It was awesome. Make sure you wear good hiking or walking shoes and take a flashlight and a sweater. It wasn't cold when we went in but the temp outside was about 100 degrees I think. So much colder than that and you will probably need a sweater.

John Wolkenhauer

Great fun here ! The caves are very deep, crazy designs and cavern shapes, and it's an awesome example of mother nature at work. Truly breathtaking and awe inspiring ! You need to come see this.

Bradley Benedictus

This place is so unique and awe inspiring. I do really wish parents would not take crying babies into the caverns after we get briefed to talk quietly since it carries but I understand the difficulties of restricting babies at a national monument.

Stuart PIles

...In 1960 my family was traveling to California. I was 14 years old that summer and I had read about Carlsbad Caverns in a magazine. I wanted the family to go to the caverns. Dad said it was too far out of the way, so we didn't go..... .... Nineteen years later in 1979, I went to see the Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Incredible and Wonderful !! There is so much to see there. So, here we are 40 years later, and I still have clear memories of that trip. Walking down the trail into the depths of the cave was an experience I will never forget. As are the formations and beauty of the cave. There is no way to adequately describe the beauty and wonder! ..... At one point I looked over the side of the trail, and the ceiling was 250 above the trail and a deep very large hole say 30 feet across extended 250 feet down. You could not see the ceiling and you could not see the bottom. Both were dark and beyond sight. I have been to many national park in the U.S.A. and other countries. This is one that cannot be forgotten. It is wonderful, beautiful, enormous, and one of a kind. Yes, you can take an elevator to the bottom or walk the trail. Either way, this is an unforgettable journey that is truly worth the trip

Bernardo Martinez

Great Park, the Cavers are awesome, it's a very nice place to visit and it's a long hike from the cave entrance until the end of the route. I recommend to take the elevator on the way out. Don't miss the bats leaving the cave by the end of the day (around sunset), it's an amazing experience. I'll visit again. With the National Parks Annual Pass it's free entrance

Travis Mara

Awesome experience! I'm usually a bit claustrophobic and never really to keen on going into anything that goes underground. This is so massive that you don't even realize that you go nearly 80 stories down to get to the "Big Room". We did the self guided tour and it took us about two hours at a moderate pace and plenty of stops for photos.

K. O.r

We had so much fun on our vacation. The people were nice and it was very clean. The bats flying out of the caverns at night was AMAZING! We can't wait to go back.

Michele Kane

I have been to a lot of caverns in my life but nothing will ever compare to Carlsbad Caverns. There is an elevator if you choose to take it but part of my experience was the excitement of the hike down and the feeling of impending doom I felt on my hike up. This cavern is amazing and definitely worth coming to see.

Diego Acosta

One of the best national parks that I feel most people haven't heard of. The caverns are absolutely amazing and breathtaking. There are two options to get down there you can go with the elevator or you can do the hike down to the bottom. The hike will show you a lot more and is more enjoyable. Keep in mind it is a very demanding hike at a slow pace it can take up to an hour down there, at best u can do it at like 25 to 30 mins . BUT ITS ALL WORTH IT!

Mark Thomas

After seeing all the wonderful parks and Utah and Arizona oh, I wasn't all that impressed with Guadalupe Mountain National Park. I suppose it's good if you want to hike to the highest point in the state of Texas. The Carlsbad National Park? Well worth the stop. It's amazing, truly amazing that such a Wonder can form Underground. The Big Room was incredible.

ineifie saborogha

I have never been in a cave, not to talk of one so big, immense and impressive. I did the Big Room shortcut tour because I was in a time crunch and was out in 2 hours, but I could've easily spent an additional 2 hours, doing the full circuit AND taking more time to admire the impressive stalagmites, stalactites, soda straws and popcorn ( yes, I know...those are real things!). I would go again and again. Took the natural entrance in and the elevators out. Great gift shops up top too.

Christy Wilkerson

Love this place! It is a must at least once!!! I've been here twice and plan to come back when the grandkids are born and old enough. Can't take dogs into the cavern, but they do provide kennels (I believe for a price), during summer too hot to leave in car, so plan ahead. While planning, plan to take a light sweater into the cavern and also plan to go for the flight!

Lizeth Ramirez

Really fun place to visit, the set up they got here is nice, even have kennels for our four legged kids. Just know you will need shot records for these service. Fun place for the whole family

Grant Newman

I went a couple weeks ago and it seems like a pretty interesting place. The rules in the cave is that you have to whisper but we were in it we could he hear some people yelling and screaming and I was there with my mom,my grandpa, and my sister and my grandpa told those noisy people to be quiet but they just kept yelling and screaming there were like two different groups of people doing that and I think one of them was visiting from another country or maybe from back east and they had this little kid with them that wouldn’t stop screaming and crying and if they ever come back to this place I hope that they keep there voices down. But other than that we had a great time.

Sandy Jill

It's Amazing. The Cavern is very Accessible for everyone with the elevator but I highly recommend the natural trail both up and down. You always get a different perspective when going the other direction. Definitely worth a trip to see it.

Savanah Fountaine

This is a great treasure in Southern New Mexico. I was in complete awe of the beauty 875ft beneath the surface. I highly suggest the bat flight. 2 hours of a tornado of bats leaving the cave for their evening meals. A spectacular event to witness!!!

Natalie Hutcherson

Loved it. Amazingly beautiful. Rangers were very knowledgeable and helpful. Took the self guided tour and was very pleased, wasn't to far or to hard of a hike. I recommend good shoes with tread as it does get slippery. Recommend for families and all ages. I will go back with my grandchildren.

Matt Irvin

This wonder is not to be missed and is surely a bucket list item if there ever was one. Get there before 3 pm so you can start at the natural entrance if possible. Or you can take the elevators down and go straight to the Big Cavern. And by big, they mean ginormous! If you visit when its hot, the 65ish degree temperature in the cave is an added bonus. There is a decent cafe and nice shop as well. Plan at least a few hours if possible.

Mark Simpson

Great national park, the cave is absolutely amazing and worth a visit. We went during a pretty busy time and even though there were a lot of people, it didn't hurt the experience. The bat flight is neat but skippable if you're on a short schedule.

Cynthia P

We hadn’t been here for about 20 years (or more). We opted for the self-guided Big Room tour. While the formations aren’t as good as other caves, the room, which is the largest in the Western Hemisphere is impressive. The Big Room is more than 4 football fields in size. Path is paved and fairly easy to navigate although some areas are steep. I've posted a few pictures even don't do the cavern justice.

hugh gabin

Spectacular, immense, primordial. Feels like you are in the womb of the earth. Down in the hole, the cool walls almost seem as though they mean to make some sense of the world around you. Its life affirming, and something a person needs to see at least once in their life. Dont miss it.

Beothor T

Carlsbad Caverns National Park was great! I wish we had more time there - there is so much to see & do and we only had one day at Carlsbad! When you go, make sure you set aside one evening to watch the bats emerge - it is fascinating!

Adelina Paiz-Vaughn

This is the place to be in Awe of. It is amazing how these Caverns are formed. You do lots of walking or you can take the elevator down to the Caves. For the person who loves the outdoors and appreciates nature. This is for you.

Emily Jimenez

The rangers there are nice & helpful & the sights are beautiful. It took about 2 hours & 3.5 miles to walk to the bottom of the cavern & walk around the big cave. We then rode the elevator up. Definitely stick around or come back for the bat flight! It was amazing to see 800,000 bats flying out of the caverns.

Patrick Leyva

I recommend walking down the natural entrance if you are physically able to! It was an amazing experience and I feel like I would have missed out by taking the elevator. There is so much more to see on the way down.

Tamara Elijah

We went to the Big Room and did the 1.5 hour hike. It was great. I got a lot photos. It was a cool experience, literally and figuratively. It was 56° down there while it was over 100° outside. Also, the drive through the mountains was great too.

Abigail Avalos

Such an impressive experience. I conquered this trail as a child and when I was older -- totally doable for any age. Gorgeous!

Logan Schauer

This was absolutely amazing to see and walkthrough. I'd say the drive is worth it no matter where you are coming from. It's not super expensive and you can spend hours walking around inside and hours in the gift shop picking out the perfect look at me souvenirs to show off that you've been. We didn't stay for the bat exodus but I can imagine that is a great ending to the day inside.

Phillip Cox

I've been to several different caverns and enjoyed them all. What makes Carlsbad Caverns different is it's huge size. This combined with the many huge exotic rock formations makes this extraordinary.

Stephen

One of the coolest, pun intended, places you can go in New Mexico. Highly recommend coming here to be amazed by the vastness of the cavern and have a little relief from the hot surface temperatures. The hike down is 1.25 miles at a fairly constant down hill grade. There is another 1.25 miles of bottom trails. Once you finish hiking down and around the bottom you can hike back out or take the elevator up and out. You can also take the elevator down, but you would miss some of the more spectacular sights in the cavern.

Kortney Kerber

This place is awesome! They literally send you down nearly 1000 feet in an elevator and tell you to have a good time (and not to be dumb, of course). My 4 year old had a great time. I liked the rows of seating at the 'Top of The Cross', it was perfect for an underground meditation break. It is a must see.

Lauri Balderrama

Very well run by the staff. We took the Kings Palace tour and absolutely loved every minute. Food is very good too. Would strongly recommend a visit. I have visited several caverns and this one was incredible! We drove 1000 miles to get here and my kids agreed it was worth every mile.

lori Sajdik

The sheer size of the cave is astonishing. It's a long walk so wear sensible shoes and clothing. You should bring a light sweater or jacket to wear inside the cave.
