REVIEWS OF Princeton Battlefield State Park IN New Jersey

VENESSA WALKER

Very beautiful, peaceful, just to walk the trails, or see what events are happening. Nice place to park, take a break or relax.

Cindy Hogan

Good place to learn about history in the Revolutionary War especially when there are special events happening like Memorial Day weekend when I was just there but all-in-all you just go on a random day there isn't much to learn it's enjoyed by locals for picnics or just roaming on the Great Lawn

UTT Biostatistics

The park holds rich historical and state significance. The symbols from past eras provide a exciting view into the past. If you love history and nostalgia you will love this park

f you are a history buff when it comes to the American Revolutionary War than you must add this place to your list of places to visit. There is not a lot of information available, just a few signs and a small house, but the view gives you a whole feeling of what did go one here.

Ted Shaffner

Important history and a great place for kites. They need to be sure they preserve it.

Omelan Stryzak

Absolutely massive and mostly empty park space - acres of unbroken mowed fields, bisected by Princeton Pike, with few trees and a large monument. Once far enough from the road, the wonderful deafening sound of silence can be heard.

Daniel Galastro

Ramon Contreras

Fun place to visit. Lot of historical things to see and the museum is pretty cool too.

Burton Rothberg

This is a really nice family excursion. Besides the battlefield itself, there is a colonial house with a small museum of period furniture and crafts. The tree that General Mercer died under survived until about 2005. The current tree is from an acorn of that tree.

Princeton Battlefield State Park and a great place to spend a few relaxing hours. Huge lawn to spread out and have a catch. The old farm house is a museum. Check the website for hours. It's a neat tour and there is a person inside who can tell you all about the home and the history behind the house and battle that took place at this location.

This historic Park has a great museum. Learn about the revolutionary was battles that took place right here and in the surrounding area. Very informative. If you love history please visit this park.

Credible Critic

The hallowed ground of the American Revolution war, where Washington won the decisive battle against the British. It is a battlefield, devoid of large buildings and grandious monuments, left like what it was, empty space for all to take in of that fateful January 3 in 1777. The field is quite suitable for walking and running. The colonnade memorial was very solemn and symbolic as it was transported from the house of General Mercer who died on this field, and in the back of this memorial was the mass grave of both British and American soldiers. The vastness of the place captured the spirit. You can easily spend an hour here.

Lots of open space here, and across the road!! Love walking the trails

Lovely place for a picnic. There was a Memorial day event there today. It's a very historic site... The Battle of Princeton took place there during the Revolutionary War. Easy parking right on the road.

Matt Lopez

I took one of their monthly tours yesterday. It was awesome! Both guides were extremely knowledgeable. It was my second time having Kim as one of the guides. He was my guide at another historic museum down the street. He really takes the time to answer your questions! If you do the tour though, I recommend bringing bug spray or wear long sleeves. I definitely will go back again and take my wife next time.

The whole place is huge. It's mostly just a vast space of grasslands. There are barely any trees. The tour is very interesting. It's good to go to learn about the historical elements, but I always see people coming here and using the place as a park, for walking, exercise and running.

Thomas Dess

Chris Hale

Beautiful open area in Princeton. The history here is so fantastic. The park is kept very clean and safe. Just be careful crossing the road, especially when dark. Not necessarily a lot to see, although there are some information boards and spots that provide good photo opportunities, but this is such and important battlefield.

David Oryniak

Not a huge state park, but a very meaningful, and historically important, place. You wouldn't even know this was a battlefield from over 200 years ago if there wasn't a sign for the parking lot. Several interpretive signs help point out and explain the important spots of the this small, but pivotal battle that took place shortly after Washington crossed the Delaware and defeated the Hessians. When visiting this park, take solemn note, and be respectful to the hallowed lands on which you are walking.

Christin R.

Beautiful. Lots of places to walk to. Small parking area.

Actually, we were looking for the monument itself... which is downtown Princeton, next to the city office building. But if you want to learn more about the battle, then you should probably go to the park also.

Loved the trails for walking.
