REVIEWS OF Independence National Historical Park IN New Jersey

Delsie Phillips

Philly is my home area, and I have seen all the changes in Independence National Park over a span of 50 years. Not all of them add value to the experience. First, there is the world we now have: everyone has to submit to a metal detector to enter historic buildings. Second, the beauty of the park and buildings is marred by gates and fences that make it almost impossible to roam the gardens freely or even take a nice photo. The Visitors Center is designed to take some of the burden from the historic sites; crowds are funneled through there first -- and I suggest that visitors do that first. There you can get your tour times for Independence Hall and plan what you want to see. One of the valuable changes added in recent years has been the presentation of inclusive history on placards at each site. Take time to read these. I never tire of seeing the Liberty Bell; it reminds me that our freedom is important and that we had to grow as a nation to extend freedom to all persons. The architectural beauty of Independence Hall and the surrounding buildings is stunning and very well kept by the Park Service, along with the grounds. This park will take time in the summer -- there are lines. But people come from all over the world to see this birthplace of a new idea for democracy.

Matthew Fleury

Beautiful well kept park. Walking paths take you to several historical sites in the area, and there are delicious inexpensive cheese-steak carts on every corner.

Heather P

A lot of the area was under construction during our visit. The streets were clean and there were officers all over the place. The liberty Bell was free to go in and see but Independence hall was not and much of the area was chained off. I would have like to get decent pictures of the outside without going on the tour. We did not have enough time to pay for the tour and enjoy it. Watch out for the poles with chain loops and no chain attached they hook your hip and hurt something fierce. I recommend a few days for this location. Also doing the big bus tour might explain everything.

Kimberly Kaori

Such a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy the day. I love traveling and visiting landmarks plus history was made here <3 clean environment helpful people around if your not familiar with anything.

Robert Patterson

Liberty and Freedom, rights given to us by our creator. Not by a government. Thank God for our Founding Fathers wizdom and courage of all the Patriots.

Robert Dengate

There is just so much history here. Every time I pass by or stop to visit I can't help but to think of the things that went on in that building almost 250 years ago. I look at the architecture and the whole style and wonder what it looked like as it was being built. They have tours and tons of information for the curious or the diehard enthusiast. And the park on the back side of the building which no one ever really sees is a great place to spend a leisure lunch break.

abagail gutierrez

This place was so pretty. The fountain was gorgeous. Mini golf was so cute and fun. There's food stands, and a carousel and a playground! Wonderful for families!

Toney Tilhoo

Would've given it 5 stars if I was able to join the tour but tickets were sold out by the early afternoon. Beautiful area.

David Tooley

This is a must stop place at some point in your life. Reserve your tickets for independence hall tour in advance so you get to see the building. Just do a web search for that and its only about a dollar to reserve them, which is much better than telling your kids "sorry we can't see that". Absolutely amazing to see where our country began.

Rory Medina

It was amazing being in a place where history occurred. The your guide was awesome and very interactive and you could tell he enjoyed his job.

Curtis Carpenter

We stopped in to the Independence Visitor Center to get the Junior Ranger booklet for a badge. The visitor center was clean and bright with nice bathrooms. The park rangers and volunteers were very helpful in directing us to the various historical monuments as well as dinner options that are kids friendly. We passed on visiting independence Hall due to long lines, but we did visit the Liberty Bell. It was great to learn about the history of the Liberty Bell. We received our badges and had a great time.

Robin Gerlofs

We took the Constitutional Walking Tour of Philadelphia with our guide John. 90 minutes hitting the sights and got just as much knowledge and history that my husband could handle for the day and didnt have to wait in any lines. Highly recommend it and our guide and much, much more knowledge if we had asked.

MrTech Ed

How can you not love one of the most historic buildings in our country. Not too crowded very fun to walk around. A must-see for everyone!

Anthony Ross

Visiting the Independence National Historical Park was an incredible experience. I think that every American owes it to themselves to visit this Park at least once in their lifetime. There are many parking lots in the area but they are all pay to park and can be a little difficult to find due to the multitude of one way streets in the area. Please don't let that discourage you, if you plan accordingly and go before lunch time, you can manage and navigate the area quite easily. This park is right in the middle of Philadelphia, once parked, you can walk to just about anywhere. There are shops, museums, walking tours, biking tours, bus tours, restaurants and plenty of other places to visit. Many of the monuments and museums are free to get into and explore. The Liberty Bell exhibit can fill up pretty quickly so I would advise that you see that first. We did not know this so we had to see the liberty bell from the outside as we did not have much time left in the area. I highly recommend visiting this place at least once, the tour guides are informative and the people are easy to talk to if you get confused or lost.

Daniel

The park actually has a ton more free space than Google Maps let on. Stop on by and appreciate the indoor (and outdoor) exhibits the park has to offer. Great place, without question historic, and still has exhibits that keep up with the times.

Niko Pentti

A Great place to visit! See and learn about the history of the Independence of The United States of America.

Lacy Carmany

Walk through the halls of history and rediscover America's fight for independence. The tours are informative and interesting. By the way, the your is free and worth the time.

Stuart & Michele Schmidt

This is a MUST see! Wonderful introduction, great event venue and obviously a ton of American history. #blessed

Sarah Wright

Nice place with lot of greenery. I feel good at this place because of their positivity and fresh atmosphere. Perfect place fir walk and outing with friends and family

Ade Ogunbambo

Great place to visit to catch up with some of the historic of the USA. The venue holds so much allure if culture and heritage is your pastime. I learned a lot coming here.

Henry Chang

Due to the crowd, plan your visit accordingly. Hard to get the ticket for the tour since it's free. People lined up quickly after the ticket free time 5pm.

Liza Knudsen

Awesome to see in person, but try to avoid the guide in the picture. She was very boring and monotoned in her history deliverance. If you bring kids she needs to be avoided as she would bore them to death. Had a great time even with a boring and rude guide. Make sure your guide is smiling.

Allison Siegel

Between seeing the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Revolutionary War Museum, and so many other must see places it's amazing there is so much history in one place. Make sure to take a while day to really take in all of what this area has to offer!

Mattsplat Gunreviews

Awesome! I am proud of my nation. It was inspiring to stand and walk where our founding fathers stood and walked.

Robin Faehnle

What a breathtaking part of history. A must see part of the history of our great country.

Froilan Flores

I only have limited of time during my visit but its a very great place to learn some history of Philadelphia..walking along the streets set your mood to Italian scenery..because of how they still preserved the italian architectural design of the builings.

Jeff Kuhns

What can I say that has not been said. If you are a red blooded American you just need to go. This is a place that houses many pieces of our country's history of our fight for independent and autonomous rule. This is the cradle of democracy, and should be revered as such. Close to this building is where Thomas Jefferson penned the Declaration, and that alone is a very important artifact to our history. Enjoy the tour, and read everything, you would be surprised what is in the building and around the grounds. There is a reason Philadelphia is a world heritage site.

Fabian Raygosa

Standard place to come while in philly. It’s the place our most famous document was signed. Quick tips. You can sign up early to get tickets to ensure your time but you can also get tickets same day. The trick is to go early as possible. It’s timed. We got there at 9 and got a ticket for 9:45. I can only imagine how bad it gets in the next hour. And it’s important to do this as it’s time for specific amount of people per tour. So it is limited. Great for history buffs and school trips and just to be there. Take pictures where you can. Ask great questions and take it all in.

Rich Wilson

Going to these memorials and reading about them will certainly helps history seem more real. It's never a bad thing to remember truthfully what has happened before

Kirsten Barnes

We took a day trip from NYC and had a wonderful time exploring history. We reserved our tickets online ahead of time and picked up at the visitor center. The highlight of the trip was the tour of Independence Hall and other historic buildings. The National Park hosts were helpful and gave us other ideas to go see while we were there, like the 2nd National Bank and the collection of art housed there. Had a delicious lunch st the City Tavern and found dinner at the Borse before headed back to NYC on the bus.

Kaleem Ahmed

Very informative short Ranger led tour (tour itself is about 30 min). Free with timed tickets (acquired at the visitor center across the street). The whole place is like stepping back in time.

Steve Hill

A great place to visit if you're into history! Come early get your tickets. Don't expect to see the liberty Bell without a long wait. Larry our tour guide was awesome inside Independence Hall

Julie Moorman

Really interesting piece of History. But beware stairs are narrow and downstairs in the kitchen and cellar ceiling is low ... hope you're not 6 4 or over. But one of the gentleman in our group was 6/8 and he managed.

Don Plata

National Parks did a great job personalizing our connection to the beginning of our nation and the significant events that occurred in and around independence hall. We left from the Liberty bell. Don't cross the street, go a blocked down to your left in front of Independence Hall then cross the street. This will put you right at the entrance to the Independence Hall area.

Nick Zdunic

Many great sights here at the birthplace of American Democracy with the first congress buildings and the liberty bell. The staff offer free tours explaining the events surrounding the the important places and how they were pivotal in creation of the Republic and also how there was opposition to creation of the Republic. Freedom for slaves is also covered. It's an interesting history well worth visiting.

Delores Willis

We have not been to the Liberty Bell for probably 20 years. While visiting Philly for a graduation, we took the time to walk over to bee the bell and enjoy the beautiful weather. The exhibit is educational and gives you a connection to our history. A must do if you are in the area. Outstanding experience because the Ranger knew sooooo much! She talked us through the significance of the building, the men framed our government AND their process in creating our system... WOW! Knowledge IS power. History became so interesting during this tour. Thank you!

Davis Flood

Very pristine in terms of a historical landmark. Nice to see the original chair that G-dubs sat in during the Constitutional Convention. If I wasn't so patriotic I would give it four stars because the tour guide was a little obnoxious. America.

Jeffrey Rioux

The offer was beautiful with plenty of foliage and shade! Plenty of statues and plaques to look at/read about our history! I was lucky enough to be visiting memorial day weekend when they had a marching band playing out front of the tomb of the unknown soldier, and paying their respects. I'm not sure if they have it all the time.

RickC1916

One of America's most historic places, Where the Declaration of Independence was signed. It is such an honor to stand here in the midst of it all and feel history come to life.

Jackie T

Midweek just about 1pm tickets (although free) were sold out. Went to the short tour instead at about 5pm and the woman who gave the ~20min tour was amazing (she gets 5 stars) minus one star only for being sold out so early on such a slow and rainy day.

UTT Biostatistics

This site provides an interesting summary of the signing of the declaration of Independence and associated events. It is not exciting but very informative. Standing in the actual room can make you appreciate the conflict and sacrifice required to create America

Ski Gowitzke

Great time. We were there for the International Chinese Lantern Festival. It was great. Lots of colorful large handmade lanterns. I'm talking 20 and 30 foot tall etc.

Paul Butler

Birthplace of our beloved nation right here in our back yard. Also home to the famed liberty bell and various local revolutionary themed museums (Ben Franklin's House, Betsy Ross House, Constitution Center just to name a few). Book tour tickets of independence hall online in advance of your trip. Tours book quickly! There's also various tours offered nearby including by bus, carriage, walking, even a bike/bar tour. Lots to do locally!

Shawn McIntosh

The tour of Independence Hall is very informative and seeing in person allowed me to visualize what it must have been like debating over the documents that shaped US law. The whole area is very well preserved and a must see at least once. Prepare to wall a lot.

M. J. Diaz

I would classify this visit as a deeply religious experience. It's simply overwhelming to the mind that our vast and complex nation got started in these tiny, humble government buildings of the colony of Pennsylvania!!

Stephen Tucker

I took my 95 year old father who served in World War II. All the guides and security took special care of us by extending a courtesy not to have my father sitting in line or in the heat and offered us a personal tour. Thank you for listening and helping us to have this wonderful memory. They honored my father. My hat is off to their special personnel. God bless you.

Alan Nathanson

We went to the Opera on the Mall event on Saturday evening 9/14/2019. It was a free, well organized and very pleasant experience. We brought lawn chairs and watched the prerecorded Philadelphia opera company production of La Boheme on big screens. The sound was great. Would definitely like to do it again. Recommended.

Yogilachi Wellness

What a fabulous experience. Absolutely must see if you are near the area. Exceptional park rangers who connect and share stories of US history. Would be great if it were required for all to experience as you can feel the history being made. I'm a national park pass holder but I visited on a night where they have free tours, it was worth the extra 30 minute wait.

Rochelle Earp

Interesting, beautiful, everything in walking distance. We had a fantastic time! We went at 8:00 a.m. got to walk around almost alone - also you can be the first to get tickets! Since nothing is open until 9:00am.

Chris Cordes

Wonderful National Historical Park run by the Park Service. There are a lot of items going on here. There were some costumed people, a story time, the museum and tours. The parking structure is a bonus- you have a place to park- you pay for it, but for tourist, something I was willing to do. Overall very well done. Keep up the good work!

Dusty Fisher

A little wait, but worth it AND the best milkshakes in town. My fav? Coffee/chocolate, enough said. You can't diet everyday.

Krista Furgala

What an amazing place this is! We learned so much visiting this park. The Park Rangers were exceptionally knowledgeable, and kind. They were handing out historical trading cards. My son has a genetic disorder and doesn't speak well, and is delayed. The rangers all realized this and talked to him in ways he was able to understand, rather than give him the longer explanations and difficult questions I heard them asking other kids his age. He also had trouble listening to some of the tour guide's talks, so another ranger invited him to another area. He gave him some trading cards, then showed him the key that locks and unlocks the front door. It's a huge heavy key. He took the time to show it to my son, and let him hold it. He was so kind to do that for this kiddo who could not understand much of the information the guide was sharing. Beyond all of that, the history of this place is incredible. I highly recommend taking time for this tour while you're visiting Philly!

Elizabeth VanValkenburg

This place is critical to early United States history, but you need to plan carefully to visit. During the summer season I'd recommend reserving your ticket in advance, or you might end up missing out on the tour like I did. It was a bad day to sleep in, but I still got to see the exterior park and one room by the gift shop. So much happened here!

Bailey Zuk

Super interesting tour! Really cool to be in such a well known historical landmark. I definitely recommend visiting.

Gregory DiSalvio

Independence National Park is a must visit. The energy in the room where the deliberations took place is palpable. The Liberty Bell crack reminds me that Liberty is fragile. We must care deeply for it. Highly recommend

Vasudeva Angalakuditi

Fun place to spend a day. Immerse in history and enjoy the food in the food court adjacent to the park. Dont forget to checkout the local brews they have on tap while you are there

Yader Delgado

This is a must see on you visit to Philadelphia. See where our forefathers met and signed the declaration of independence. You have to get the free pass at the Independence Visitors center across the street from the liberty bell. Get there early 8am to ensure you get a free pass. First come first serve. you must go thru a security check as most of the historical places in Philadelphia so travel light.

Richard Cahill

20 min tour. Really juat a couple of rooms. But the historical significance of the rooms is amazing. Guides do a great job. Also liberty bell across the street.

S. Martin

Fantastic museum!! The museum and artifacts are amazing to see! And, seeing George Washington's tent he used during the war leaves you in awe! Such an amazing day!

Allison Hardin

If you are a history buff than you definitely want to visit Independence Hall. They give free tours all day long and really give you a look into the history of our founding fathers and documents that were signed in this building. Also if your a movie buff yes they did film parts of Disney's National Treasure right here at this very building. Right across the street you can also get free access to see the original Liberty Bell crack and all. You may not touch but they do allow you to get your picture taken in front of the bell at no charge, but be warned if these to destinations are on your to do list show up as early as 7:30 8 am as after those hours lines get packed and long.

Penny Hart

How cool is it to step foot where our founding fathers stepped? I do wish that there was a more organized way to see what's where. I felt a bit like I was flying blind. That's even with a good but of research online. Still loved seeing the sites!

Dan Wilding

It's amazing to stand in the same place where the Declaration of Independence was drafted. It's also amazing to walk on the same floor as the founding fathers. The tour is free.... couldn't believe that.... wow! Well wilorth the time.

Andrew Hartlove

A must see for any visit to Philadelphia! The Liberty Bell and Independence Hall where you can see the room where the founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence!!! There's much more to see too. Get all of the information you need at the National Constitution Center.

Henry Limowski

Very nice park. It's next to Liberty Bell Museum and Independence Hall so if you want to rest in between your sight seeing it's a great place to rest.

Rebecca Rene`e

Amazing history...good family place. The lines weren't too bad and it's been taken care of to preserve it very well.

Devin Liu

It is very refreshing with natural winds. It is a good place to go to clear of your stress.

SGP Versluis

Beautifull area, with loads of historic value. It has a nice park in front of it and you can read up and visit the place that's centered around the constitution and declaration of independence.

Dee Morris

Very nice visit. Wonderful to see a bit of this fantastic country's iconic history. Security is a bit impatient and rather abrupt with visitors, so pay attention and follow instructions or risk getting barked at!

Jumper Sg1

It was nice to visit this historical gem (also nice to have it open for visitors for free). I don't think the place itself is particularly impressive but the importance of the events, as they describe in the tour (mandatory and free of charge). The visits lasts around 15 minutes.

Avishek Nandi

It was late on a Sunday evening when we reached. Waited for a while to witness the musical fountain but maybe they had stopped by then. There were some casual visitors then lazing around and enjoying bagels and ice cream.

Ana L. Arroyo

The air is filled with so much history here. The liberty bell is right next door and there's a souvenir shop right across from the Independence National Historical Park. This location is about 6 blocks away from downtown philly. If you go in the souvenir shop, you'll have an opportunity to watch and see other parts of Philadelphia history inside this building.

Gail H

Excellent museum telling the history of the American Revolution like no other in the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence. From the events leading up to the "shot heard round the world" to the adoption of the Constitution, the story is told from the perspective not only of the soldiers, but of the women & children and people of color. In the city of Philadelphia, tourists from around the world will have to add the MoAR to their stops at the Liberty Bell & Independence Hall.

Richard Musgrove

We went to Philadelphia and NYC on the same trip. I can say that hands down I enjoyed Philadelphia 10x more than NYC.

Christina Stetler

The birth place of America. A must do. Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell are free, you just need a timed ticket. It's an incredible feeling to be in the same rooms that declared Indpendence, elected George Washington as General of the Continental Army, and where the Constitution was debated.

Mark Collins

I did not go for the casino, my daughter loves watching the horses race. The atmosphere is fun and exciting in the races are frequent enough that the kids don't get bored. It is also free to just go see the races.

Ashlie Harding

The park ranger that led our tour at Independence Hall was entertaining and well informed. She shared some tidbits of history that was new to us, and managed to do so in a fairly short amount of time. The Liberty Bell was made more interesting by checking out the website ahead of time, and reading the history there.

Dave Stadler

Awesome to see where the home of the free and brave began. Friendly and knowledgeable park rangers. Listening to the ranger impacted me how much care the founding fathers took in writing the documents that define my nation.

Jonathan Thomas

Great experience, if you get the chance. The tour of Independence Hall itself is short, there are only two rooms open to the public. But there are plenty of things to see outside. Monuments and plaques everywhere. The place is crawling with rangers that would be happy to answer any questions.

Alex Woodruff

This is where America started! Even amongst the high rise buildings and contemporary living surrounding Independence Hall, it's still an area well preserved. Make sure you get tickets or go off peak hours to lower your wait time. If you bleed red, white and blue then you will find this Star-Spangled Awesome.

peter liu

This is the place where America started. The park has many historical buildings and artifacts. And there are also some activities such as presentations which can teach you the history of United States. Very good place for the kids to get the idea how the country started and how did the earlier leaders construct our declaration of Independence.

Chris Mohnacky

The best historical tourist spot in Philadelphia. The Park Service leads a good tour, but you have to get timed tickets in advance at the visitors center.

Michael St.John

Get here early. The crowds filter in quickly after 10am on weekends. Start at the visitor's center - you will need tickets to get into the area where Independence Hall is. Then go see the Liberty Bell since that's where the longest line is going to be. Also in the area are Betsy Ross' house and Benjamin Franklin's grave site. You can probably see it all in 2 hours (and therefore park on the street) if you are there early and don't need to spend time reading every historical marker. If you are there later in the day and want to really soak it all in you could spend a half day in the area.

Kyle Shirk

Nice part of Philly. It's cool seeing the old buildings nested in the city. Worth checking out if you are in the city. It does get crowded around the liberty Bell.

Donna Kusiak

it was worth the wait. you get to relearn or even learn new little tidbits of history. it was awe inspiring to know our forefathers created this great country there.

Eugene Satrun

Fantastic history around this place, everyone should visit as part of the founding of this country.

John Monaghan

This is where America was made great. This is where it continuous to be an inspiration to the world.

Chantell McCurdy

Very well kept. They limit the number of people in the Independence Hall tour to keep the house and congestion to a minimum. Great guides.

Tara Gillim

The National Park Service does a great job running this Historical Park. Rangers conducting tours are well-informed and entertaining. They were very attentive to my accessibility needs, getting me around Independence Hall with my mobility device, and making sure I had eye contact with the speaker at each stop, due to my hearing loss. All security and NPS employees were friendly while maintaining order and safety. The city run gift shop prices and the parking garage rates are outrageous. Buy your souvenirs at either National Park Service gift shop, near the Old City Hall and Ben Franklin Museum.

Tom Watkins

Completely fenced off you need to get tickets and wait for a tour to even get near the place. They also built a building around the liberty Bell can't even see it from the outside so much for liberty.

Misty Vaught

We loved this area of sights and history! Awesome free tours packed with tons of historical facts and fun, interesting tidbits. Great for fieldtrips and family trips.

Kendra Scott

free accept liberty Bell viewing after summer during summer Liberty Bell viewing free. But I also got a question to ask what Liberty do we really have when we have laws now that contradict the constitutional right written in the Constitution?

Howie Mcnicol

This is a great historical site! The Visitor's Center has so much information about Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Tickets are free, which is very nice. There needs to be a more organized line to get to the Liberty Bell. If you aren't pushy, you won't get to the front. Independence Hall is beautiful. It was pouring rain, and the guides took us in 20 minutes early so that we didn't have to stand in the rain. Similar to the Liberty Bell, there needs to be a more organized line to see the drafts of the documents because if you aren't pushy then you won't get to see it.

Jack Nolan

This was the highlight of our trip to historical Philadelphia. Independence Hall is in fantastic shape for the founding of our nation and I was shocked that the only thing that survived British occupation was George Washington's chair. This was well worth the trip and the wait for the evening tour.

Mary Rasa

This is an exceptional place to learn American history. Even if you can't get tickets for Independence Hall there are so many historic buildings and so many things to do here.

Darkhonbek Mamataliev

Must visit historical site - birthplace of the USA. This is where both independence declaration and constitution (version 1) were created. Visiting is free of charge. Site also offers free guided tour about the history of the place.

Jillian Cross

Really great experience! Tickets were free and I learned so much. I would suggest getting tickets ahead of time, or getting there early to have more options of times to visit.

Hariom Singh

The independence National Historic Park is the starting point for a visit to Philly. Always neat to see artifacts toed to American history and this did not disappoint. Once inside you get a lot of information in history and of course you get to see the Bell. We had to wait in a moderate line (maybe about 20 minutes) to get in, but it was worth it.

George Young

It's a national historic site, of course it's great!! Lots of other things to do in the area also.

Keith Kenerly

I love this town & what a great place to visit while in Philadelphia. There are so many places that you can walk to around here. Take the family for a days worth of waking and enjoy some of our early history.

Caleb Jones

Wonderful place to go for a walk. The park was truly amazing because of their cool environment and lot's of greenery. The place was full of crowd and the cleaned too. There also a parking facility which's a good thing . The arrangements of food and drinks were also nice.

paritosh ghosh

It was a very very good and fantastic place even to sit day after day together. Very nice place for American history.

Allen Todd

Independence National Park, houses both Independence Hall and Congress Hall as well as the Liberty Bell and many other historic landmarks. The building was built in 1732 and was intended to be the Pennsylvania state House. In May 1775 the Second Continental Congress met here as tensions rose between the British Colonies and the Britain. The Battles of Lexington and Concord had been fought on April 19, 1775. The Second Continental Congress would take on the role of the National Government during the outset of the Revolutionary War. In the early days they created the Continental Army, naming George Washington as it leader, wrote and offered the Olive Branch Petition, and signing the Declaration of Independence. In 1781 the Articles of Confederation were adopted and it was here at Independence Hall that the new Congress met. After the end of the War, it became obvious that the Articles of Confederation was not working. So a Constitutional Convention was held in Philadelphia at Independence Hall. It was here that the founders struggled to create a system of government that would bind 13 wildly independent colonies into a unified country. The result was the Constitution of The United States of America, which was signed in Independence Hall on September 17, 1789. The Newly formed Congress would meet right next door from Independence Hall in Congress Hall from 1790-1800. It was here that James Madison would right and present to Congress the Bill of Rights. How so much history could be packed into this small area is stunning, it should be a goal of all patriots and historians to visit Independence Hall at least once. The visitor center is located just north of Independence Hall. It is here that you can get the free tour tickets, and see the Liberty Bell. Get there early as the tours fill up quickly. The Rangers are knowledgeable, I would especially like to call out to Ranger Blanco, who did an excellent job explaining the history of the buildings. In addition to Independence Hall there are many other attraction in the area that you should see, like the grave site of Benjamin Franklin, Betsy Ross house and others.

Geoff Fabron

You will need to book your tickets early in the morning from the visitor centre if you want to get one of the tours. We lined up around 9am and got tickets for 4pm (this was in May). The tour was given by a very well informed Park Ranger and provided insights and information that you would not normally get from general history books.

Spencer Arias

Independence Hall...couldn't believe I stood in the same room as the founding Fathers did. Was great to learn about how it all came to be.

Lori Cheffar

I really enjoyed bringing out of town friends. We got a great parking spot and a nice sunny day to boot. Every time i come here i say, i don't get downtown enough. History abounds, everyone was friendly willing to share info. And with a 20 minute ride from home can't beat that!

Praful Barvalia

Those who love history, must visit this place. Independence Hall and the other sites that comprise Independence National Historical Park (lNHP) are among the most historically significant buildings in America. For many years the City of Philadelphia sought to preserve these buildings and create a National Museum to collect and display furnishings, relics, and portraits .from The revolutionary period. Neat and clean, well-maintained Tourist destination. The great liberty bell is worth visiting.

David Barkley Sr.

Awesome historical views. Good food vendors. Ordered pizza. Excellent service and friendly atmosphere

Kevin Werner

So the ticket thing is a bit off putting. We were unaware of the requirement until just a few days before and by then you cannot order tickets online. So we rushed to be there first thing to get in line for walk up tickets. It seems that there are quite a few walk up tickets available. I'm not sure if it's true everyday, but it seems that you don't have to rush there in the morning to get tickets if your intention is to be there later in the day. Seems there could be a better way. Aside from the ticketing situation, the tour of Independence Hall was excellent. The guide was informative and moved everyone through rather efficiently. This is well worth the time. We started at the first Executive Mansion, moved our way through the Liberty Bell and then to Independence Hall.

Keith Brubeck

Great place to visit for American history. Definitely fine George Washington's office for tent

Love the life size bronze statues of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. You can spend four or more hours here reading and seeing our history.

Fred Burriel

Free admission and well worth your time. Interesting and inspiring guided tour of the 2 history making rooms. About 30 minutes long. Get your timed tickets first at the Visitor Center 2 blocks over. Tip #1 : Get your ticket for the next available time, then pop in to see the Liberty Bell on the way. You'll have plenty of time and they are all adjacent to each other. Tip #2 : Even if you don't have timed tickets or if they are for later in the day, once you go through security, you can go to the "holding pen" where they group people for the next tour, and the Park Ranger may just let you right in if you ask him nicely.

Unique place. Lots of historical places and lots of displays about the US and the Constitution. Really nice place to visit. It would take three days to see all that is available. Lots nice eating establishments with great menus. Lots souvenirs for sale.

Derek Moreno

Wonderful Park. It is this reason that I moved to Philadelphia. I came for the sites the city and it hasn't disappointed. Independence Hall is one of the most important places for this country. Let's not forget our humble beginnings and what this nation stands for. This is why those musty places if you're ever traveling through Philadelphia. Do I need to say much else?

Marcus Van Gorden

Great experience. Plenty of things to see and learn. It would be nice if they connected the security checkpoint so that you did not have to go through security at the Liberty Bell and then again at Independence Hall. The Liberty Bell checkpoint has one of the highest gains on the metal detector I've ever been through. Don't have a penny in your pocket or you will set it off! The tour guides are knowledgeable and able to answer any questions you may have. Do yourself a favor and buy a ticket for a tour of Independence Hall, it's worth paying to see if you are already there.

Great time learning about the birth of our nation and colinial life. And the best part is that the parks are free!

Andrew Hart

Really safe and exciting place to be. It was free to get in, and we learned so much about the Liberty Bell. You can get up close with the bell to get great pictures. It is truly amazing that our country has preserved some great areas of history.

Christina McFarland

This was something fun for me and my kids to do on my day off. They really enjoy the water shows. They love golf and the play ground I loved seeing them happy

Tom McSweeney

The park ranger was entertaining and the building was smaller than I expected. Awesome to think so few people accomplished something so incredible as founding a nation as great as ours.

Chris Taylor

Beautiful gardens, free stories about the revolutionary period, and a lot of great history. It was a wonderful place to stop and catch your breath and feel like you were in a piece of history. Very cool.

Zachary Lawson

A lot of history in the square seeing the buildings our founding fathers helped set up America was something else. They have tours and the liberty Bell is located in the square. The parking is underground and you come right up into the vistitor center. The have food and a gift shop inside where I got gifts for the wife and kids. Overall enjoyed walking though the park and seeing the history of America.

Stephen LaGuardia

Great place for that unique Philadelphia souvenir. Extensive book selection as well as seasonal apparel. Limited toy selection though and what's with the no bag policy. You have to purchase a souvenir bag or carry around all your loose stuff all day.

Jasmin Hollywood

Very nice and clean park. Family friendly environment and an excellent educational outing.

Jacquie Walters

If you visit Philly, you need to make sure you stop here. It's amazing that we get to visit the place where our nation began, and to walk in the same areas where the giants of American history once walked. Thank you, NPS, for preserving such an important piece of our history!

Inquisitive Tony

Went their with my school for a field trip. Was so cool with many interesting exhibits. Definitely recommend to go learn about us history!

Dennis Hadlich

Philly's most recognized landmark. Manacured landscaping well kept. A must see in the Philadelphia area.

Dicken Doe

Packed full of history and possibly vital to understanding why America is the way it is. Really impressive that they have opted to keep the area open and encourage people to visit, it would have been easy to ramp up security and make it inaccessible. Visit the hall where the constitution (and other key documents were signed), make sure you book in advance to tour the buildings.

G Gray

The birthplace of America, lots of things to learn and do at this historic site. 10/10 would recommend

Maia Durrant

So much history and so much to learn! The Park Rangers are you great and very helpful. If you're in the area or planning a trip, come here. Learn how our great democracy was formed. See where it all began.

Tim Stetson

It was well maintained and the ranger providing the tour was amusing and educational. I advise you pay the $1 per ticket to order them for the day and time you want ahead of time! Then make sure you are there by the time the say or they WILL release that ticket.

When I was a kid growing up in California I visited a replica of Independence Hall that was next to Knott's Berry farm. Well the real thing is a lot better. To be in the place where founding fathers decided to make the country that was independent from its colonial parent the thrilling and exciting thing. It's places like this that help history come alive for young people and adults too. Our lives would be a lot different if the people who risked their lives to create documents like the Declaration of Independence and to rally around symbols like the Liberty Bell have not done what they did.

Sara Small

Very cool. Make sure to go to the Benjamin Franklin museum. If you buy postcards, stop by the post office and mail them home. They hand cancel the stamp with Ben Franklin's signature.

Earle Zulueta

The US began here. Enough said. Talk about history. Unfortunately it poured rain when we visited so we were not able to fully enjoy. We were able to go see the liberty bell though, which was really cool.

Sonal Patel-Sheth

The start of a nation. This building is where the country's foundation formatted. There is much more history that can be shared by the Rangers but due to its popularity they are unable to share all. Worth participating in additional talks around the Hall to gain more insight.

Pushpendra Garg

History began here. The tour given by the National Park Rangers was great. They are so passionate when they are describing things. Please go early to get the passes which are free.

Kee Lee

Awesome park with lot of greenery. I often visited here with my family for outing and we enjoyed a lot. Here different kinds of flower's available which were very beautiful. Perfect place for walking and outing.

Mihai Manitiu

This a great place to sit on the grass and relax. When we went it was sunny and it was very hot but there were still people sitting on the grass under the shade from the trees. Is is right across from Independence Hall and the pace where Liberty Bell is located. Overall it’s a beautiful green area in Philadelphia that’s conveniently located.

Andrew Pelletier

Love the city and the views! Such a pretty area. Worth the walking and smells

Kenneth Hebel

All of the historical significant places are located close together so walking is the way to go. Besides the Liberty Bell, etc. there are hidden gems. The first Supreme Court was extremely interesting. Park ranger gave lots of insight!
