You will be able to see all the reviews of real people who buy the products of The Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum (Tourist Attraction) near Missouri.
At this moment this business receives a score of 4.5 over 5 and that score is based on 608 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is almost the top, and it's based on a very large number of reviews, so we may conclude that the evaluation is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to leave their score when they've done well with the business, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to write reviews when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Tourist Attraction is classified in the category of Museum.
This is a charming area that feels like a town from the past. Take a tour through history. There's a beautiful lighthouse that requires walking up stairs, more stairs, and then more stairs (or you can drive). Please note: almost everything closes by around 5:00. My pictures were taken after 7:00 p.m.
Just see this place. You can paint the same fence Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn’s friends did. See Becky Thatcher’s house. Eat where Sam Clemens ate. This is a very cool little town and one you outta see. Glad we checked it out.
A great museum with lots of memorabilia and actual items owned/used by Mark Twain. Several of the exhibits are based on his books. It will be more enjoyable if you're familiar with his more popular books.
Nice place to visit.
Interesting tour to go on if you have a love of Mark Twain or a background in American literature. Not necessarily the most interesting thing for kids. The staff is very accommodating however.
Mostly just reading excerpts from his books and biographies. Still neat to come and see. I would plan an hr or so to explore
Interesting and fun to learn
Neat place! Worth a visit
Very interesting.
How can u pass up coming to the best know connection to our history pre and post civil war. The man ushered a nation into an intellectual era that has yet to end. The man taught the commom world words they didn't even know they could think through intellect and witt.
Beautiful town, lots to see and do, especially if you're a Twain fan.
Nice mix of museum displays and old buildings. Something for everyone from kids to lit buffs. Highlights include a bunch of studies and original paintings by Rockwell from an illustrated Tom Sawyer.
A wonderful historical place with his home and numerous historical pieces
An ok place to stretch. Good for kids. Have them read Mark Twain books beflore attending. Will make the visit more meaningful.
Been here a few times. We always have good time.
Did a lot of walking listen to some music did some shopping scene Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher there it was a little slow that day they had predicted rain some stores didn't even bother to open but we enjoyed ourselves very much and even took a trip to the cave highly recommend to take your children a lot of fun
Very nice museum. Nicely maintained and nice friendly people.
There were really interesting displays that taught a bunch of fun facts about Mark Twain and his characters. Make sure to go see all the locations to get the full experience!
Looked nice from the outside.
Loved it here. Nice self guided tour and good layout.
Fun visit. Well done. Hopefully the town of Hannibal can prosper to make the visit complete.
Worth the trip & Hannibal is a nice town to visit. Great brewery with wonderful barbeque platters.
$12 for adult and $10 for senior. A place worth to visit! People are very nice here.
Haven't been inside the boyhood home but have been to the museum twice. It is okay, not as good as others. I liked seeing and learning about Mark Twain and his work but the museum felt a bit bare. The 1st edition books are cool and the gift shop is fun. Staff is delightful and helpful.
Awesome museum with multiple buildings to tour. Give a nice background on Mark Twain, and shows you some of his inspirations.
Loved it. Went during Tom Sawyer Days. The volunteer at the interpreter center was awesome. He grew up In Hannibal and had a lot of information. Wished we had more time to see more in Hannibal. It was neat to imagine the characters and Mark as we walked to each location. We were walking on history. Everyone was extremely nice. It would be nice to have characters stationed in areas to add to the experience and maybe give a living description of what life was like back then. Or even create a ticket that you can stamp at each location like a passport. Then visitors would have a nice souvenir. The only downside was dealing with the volleyball tournament crowd.
If you're going to Hannibal, this is a must-do. I'm assuming you have some interest in Mark Twain (otherwise why would you go to Hannibal in the first place). Admission includes a bunch of different Hannibal locations. Most of the houses you visit are close to each other and set up as museum pieces, with lots of signs to read but not much for young kids to do. At the last stop on the tour, the Museum Gallery, there were a lot more fun things for kids to do.
This was one of my favorite adventures of all time! I learned so much and enjoyed the entire day. Rich history comes to life with the period actor at the museum. If you scout around town a little you realize that he and the unsinkable …
This place traces of footsteps of Mark Twain. When you buy a pass to the Mark Twain Museum it gives you passes through several other venues in the area. This is a must see if you're in Hannibal Missouri
The town is a pleasant visit
Awesome museum of mark Twain and huck finn too.
Quaint, historical town. Victorian architecture.
Very comfortable and informative!
My husband & I spent 1/2 the day walking thru the down town. It was a lot of fun going thru their shops. Then we stopped at their Golden Corral & had a bite to eat. Took in a few more areas including the Lovers Leap, Look out Point which over looks the river. Cascading sunshine, witnessed the train that put on its show. Got many pics that day. Was a very nice venture.
Museum in a house(s). Authentic 19th century life (shiver). Watch out for school field trips. It can get crowded fast. The gallery (not a house, few blocks away) was probably the best part.
We liked it. Lots to interact with there and learn about Mark Twain !
It's a very interesting place
We stopped here on a warm muddy day in April last year, and enjoyed our visit very much. We did the complete walking tour and learned a lot about Mark Twain. It was very interesting, and to see and be in the actual places where Mark Twain lived as a boy make it come alive for us.
Charming little town...loved the old buildings. My husband particularly liked the Norman Rockwell paintings at the museum. It's quite a collection. A nice 2 hour break in our road trip.
Great vacation had a lot of fun
I likely seeing where Mark Twain grew up.
Must see if you know anything about Mark Twain. A number of buildings associated with his boyhood days.
Very interesting. Great information about Samuel Clemens childhood.
The museum is a tour of several buildings in Hannibal. Our family of 7, who ranged in age from 7 to 45, thoroughly enjoyed the day. Please plan for several hours to explore! The last stop, the gallery, needs at least an hour itself. What is great is that you can stop for lunch or an icecream cone along the way as each stop on the tour is in an independent building.
This was a beautiful, fun and interactive museum. My entire family really enjoyed the many different museum locations we were able to visit.
We really enjoyed looking around the town, the houses and museum. The staff in the museum were very friendly and knowledgeable. Very educational and interesting for the whole family, especially if you're a Mark Twain fan.
The house was good, I would give 5 stars if there was a guided tour
It was good, but they should have a Mark Twain impersonator to answer questions and participate in banter.
Awesome place to visit history Wise
Great place to learn about Mark Twain and spend the day downtown.
More details than I expected. Toured Mark Twain, Huck, Becky and Judge houses as well as a museum/gallery. More than worth the stop in Hannibal. Also took a stroll through downtown and ate at Muddy BBQ which was amazing!
When my kids and I were in Hannibal, and the crazy rain wouldn't let up, we stopped here so we could see some of the background of the town's history. It doesn't cost but does have a box for donations to helpkeep the museum running. We found it to be really neat!
It's an amazing place where you can know more about Mark Twain, his childhood, friends, books, etc. Nice atmosphere of that time.
Great to put a real place to the stories.
What a great stop for a few hours for Mark Twain fans. You can cover the salient points in 3 hours. What fun to find the actual facts that made Tom Sawyer and Huch Fin.
Not impressed with the layout and not a place to take kids.
We just stopped for ice cream. What a cute place. We'll be back for a real visit.
It is part of our history. I enjoy historical places. Our heritage.
Amazing amount of Twain Artifacts You get a package deal for $12.00 and visit Gallery and Becky Thatcher's house also...Well worth it!
Amazing place. As a boy I had read and re-read MT's books...what a giant of American literature!
We used the beautiful upstairs space for a Bridal Shower. It was a perfect location that added an ambiance to our event.
I like the way the signage helps paint the story as you go through the house and the surrounding houses
Once a favorite of mine, but now the area is so rundown I doubt I will be back. Tourist trap with no real reason to go out of your way to visit, unless in the area.
You learn about everything 12$ for an adult and 6$ not good prices but you see everything very great place
This museum tour covers several prominent historical landmarks from Mark Twain's childhood and characters from his books, featuring a second story gallery of Norman Rockwell works based on Tom Sawyer and others. There is a fee involved. Veterans and service people may tour free. The exhibits are family friendly with many interactive features for young children. This is a great family outing!
Interesting. Learned of stuff about Twain's life here. The town was... Something
Lots of interesting facts and exhibits. The stories in the building where you first buy your ticket next to his boyhood home are the best!
It was enjoyable! Many things to read on Mark Twain history and it was fun to see Becky Thatcher's home, the Judge's office. Plus other places. Will need to return to see it again!
Very proud of being there! Loved every moment. Painted the fence!
Me and my daughter went we had a great time and there is more than just Mark twains house
The water level has went down since 2 weeks ago since i checked.. Which I'm very happy about.. Ill be glad when we can drive on all our roads again.
Step back in time walk along the streets and visit the shops. Great place for family times.
If you love literature, especially Mark Twain. It is a great source of information about Twain's childhood and sources of some of his best works.. The collection of Norman Rockwell's original illustrations for the book, Tom Sawyer is a must see. A bonus is downtown Hannibal,a lively river town the has a real 18rh century feel.
The Boyhood Home is an enjoyable experience for families that is faithful to Mark Twain's literary achievement. Suggest taking the time to visit the historical buildings as well as the museum, it's worth it. PS The nearby 'Jim's …
Several small museums for one price. The local history museum is a great stop as well and free. Quaint town as well.
Great place to visit for Mark Twain fans. Well done-educational.
This is a fun stop and walk through history. Since there are several building, it best done when the weather Street is pleasant.
Interesting but disappointing also. All the rooms are behind glass. Would have been better with a tour guide.
Very interesting about Mark Twain and all of the history behind him.
Lots of Twain quotes. Nice little walkabout tour. Well worth a look.
So educational and enjoyable! Use Groupon for a great deal on tickets!
What a wonderful historical site. We arrived later in the day and they were only open for another hour and yet the people couldn’t ha e been nicer to our little family. Even our three year old enjoyed looking around at all of the old furniture.
It was a very well worthwhile stop on our trip to see the author’s home and surroundings that inspired his amazing books.
Interactive museum that is perfect for all ages. Really liked sitting on the raft while watching videos. Museum made twIns books come to life!
Beautiful place. Well constructed
Very friendly and helpful staff.
The museum was well maintained. A lot of information was shared about Mark Twain and you could see a lot of the house. However, this mail want our favorite from our trip. It was the least captivating, but maybe that's because our group only knew a little about Mark Twain and his characters. It was fine, just not our favorite museum.
Did not have time to visit ❣️
So much to see and learn about the life of Mark Twain here. Really enjoyed all the properties. Especially the original paintings from Norman Rockwell of Tom Sawyer.
Enjoyable. The evening we were there there was a Bluegrass group playing and singing.
I have been coming here since I was a kid. Love it!
The people would let you buy a gift from the store if you didn’t have a tour ticket.
Hannibal was a great place to visit. Very cool downtown, we were completely tickled to see the period buildings. Fun time.
Self guided tour(s). Fun to explore Huck's old stomping grounds at your own pace.
Nicely done...pretty small City. Wonderful people.
Fun and beautiful place!
Worth a stop but a little steep cover to get in. You can walk around the gtounds for free, we chose that option as we had 20+ in our group.
This quant museum was very nice to visit. We stopped by on our way through Missouri and had a very nice time. While it is not a whole day activity, it a great window into the History of America.
