REVIEWS OF Nuclear Waste Adventure Trail and Museum IN Missouri

Jamie Lauderdale

My kids enjoyed this place a lot, the museum and the hike to the top of the mound. It's a nice place to watch a sunset from.

Very interesting and informative!! -1 star: no gift shop!

Samantha Eitniear

Impressive. Definitely something to recommend seeing.

Justin Grogan

Amazing display in the visitor center. Details the history of the area and the three towns (Howell, Hamburg, and Toonerville) that used to be in the area of the old munitions plant and uranium processing facility. Details the cleanup effort and the restoration of the area. Well worth a visit - but sure the climb to the top of the rock pile!

I was surprised. I didn't think this was real when I saw it on the map. If there were awards for trail names, this should win one.

It's a cool site to see some of the history behind here. But I cant help to remind what's buried under there. Trucks after trucks and so forth. But hey it explains a lot! There really must be something in the water where I grew up!

We got a personal tour (it was just myself and my friend) from Karl, who has been there pretty much from the beginning. Highly, highly recommend the stop!!

The actual trail is really nice to see! It looks like a huge pile of rocks, and well, it is. The climb up takes a short while, but the view is really nice! The museum is also really informative and visual. It's kind of like being in the Science Center in STL. The staff is very friendly and very informed about the history of the site too.

Took my family (teenagers) to the visitors center and was impressed. There is a nice display and historical presentation about the site and how it fit into the Manhattan Project. I have lived nearby all my life and learned a lot of interesting information. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Good hour or two visit. Very informative and we'll done.

Nolan Biorn

Great place to learn about the history of this area.

Also called the Weldon Spring Disposal Cell, a fun and informative point of interest, a great stop for families on a road trip. Similar to a nature center with a small museum, this is actually a DOE nuclear waste disposal site. However it is low level waste with no threat to the public, since the waste is safely contained in a landfill which looks like a large hill next to the museum. There is even a hiking trail to climb to the top and enjoy the view. The museum is informative and professional, with tables outside if you brought a picnic lunch.

A surprisingly informative and modern interpretive center. I certainly learned a lot about local history and nuclear waste disposal. The site also offers very convenient access to the Hamburg Trail and the Busch Greenway.

Great walking trail. Beautiful view

Samuel Toney

Great workout stairs!
